Global context-aware multi-scale feature iterative refinement for aviation-road traffic semantic segmentation

Semantic segmentation for mixed scenes of aerial remote sensing and road traffic is one of the key technologies for visual perception of flying cars.The State-of-the-Art(SOTA)semantic segmentation methods have made remarkable achievements in both fine-grained segmentation and real-time performance.However,when faced with the huge differences in scale and semantic categories brought about by the mixed scenes of aerial remote sensing and road traffic,they still face great challenges and there is little related research.Addressing the above issue,this paper proposes a semantic segmentation model specifically for mixed datasets of aerial remote sensing and road traffic scenes.First,a novel decoding-recoding multi-scale feature iterative refinement structure is proposed,which utilizes the re-integration and continuous enhancement of multi-scale information to effectively deal with the huge scale differences between cross-domain scenes,while using a fully convolutional structure to ensure the lightweight and real-time requirements.Second,a welldesigned cross-window attention mechanism combined with a global information integration decoding block forms an enhanced global context perception,which can effectively capture the long-range dependencies and multi-scale global context information of different scenes,thereby achieving fine-grained semantic segmentation.The proposed method is tested on a large-scale mixed dataset of aerial remote sensing and road traffic scenes.The results confirm that it can effectively deal with the problem of large-scale differences in cross-domain scenes.Its segmentation accuracy surpasses that of the SOTA methods,which meets the real-time requirements. 展开更多

CG-FCLNet:Category-Guided Feature Collaborative Learning Network for Semantic Segmentation of Remote Sensing Images

Semantic segmentation of remote sensing images is a critical research area in the field of remote sensing.Despite the success of Convolutional Neural Networks(CNNs),they often fail to capture inter-layer feature relationships and fully leverage contextual information,leading to the loss of important details.Additionally,due to significant intraclass variation and small inter-class differences in remote sensing images,CNNs may experience class confusion.To address these issues,we propose a novel Category-Guided Feature Collaborative Learning Network(CG-FCLNet),which enables fine-grained feature extraction and adaptive fusion.Specifically,we design a Feature Collaborative Learning Module(FCLM)to facilitate the tight interaction of multi-scale features.We also introduce a Scale-Aware Fusion Module(SAFM),which iteratively fuses features from different layers using a spatial attention mechanism,enabling deeper feature fusion.Furthermore,we design a Category-Guided Module(CGM)to extract category-aware information that guides feature fusion,ensuring that the fused featuresmore accurately reflect the semantic information of each category,thereby improving detailed segmentation.The experimental results show that CG-FCLNet achieves a Mean Intersection over Union(mIoU)of 83.46%,an mF1 of 90.87%,and an Overall Accuracy(OA)of 91.34% on the Vaihingen dataset.On the Potsdam dataset,it achieves a mIoU of 86.54%,an mF1 of 92.65%,and an OA of 91.29%.These results highlight the superior performance of CG-FCLNet compared to existing state-of-the-art methods. 展开更多

Current Chinese event detection methods commonly use word embedding to capture semantic representation,but these methods find it difficult to capture the dependence relationship between the trigger words and other words in the same sentence.Based on the simple evaluation,it is known that a dependency parser can effectively capture dependency relationships and improve the accuracy of event categorisation.This study proposes a novel architecture that models a hybrid representation to summarise semantic and structural information from both characters and words.This model can capture rich semantic features for the event detection task by incorporating the semantic representation generated from the dependency parser.The authors evaluate different models on kbp 2017 corpus.The experimental results show that the proposed method can significantly improve performance in Chinese event detection. 展开更多

Text classification is an essential task for many applications related to the Natural Language Processing domain.It can be applied in many fields,such as Information Retrieval,Knowledge Extraction,and Knowledge modeling.Even though the importance of this task,Arabic Text Classification tools still suffer from many problems and remain incapable of responding to the increasing volume of Arabic content that circulates on the web or resides in large databases.This paper introduces a novel machine learning-based approach that exclusively uses hybrid(stylistic and semantic)features.First,we clean the Arabic documents and translate them to English using translation tools.Consequently,the semantic features are automatically extracted from the translated documents using an existing database of English topics.Besides,the model automatically extracts from the textual content a set of stylistic features such as word and character frequencies and punctuation.Therefore,we obtain 3 types of features:semantic,stylistic and hybrid.Using each time,a different type of feature,we performed an in-depth comparison study of nine well-known Machine Learning models to evaluate our approach and used a standard Arabic corpus.The obtained results show that Neural Network outperforms other models and provides good performances using hybrid features(F1-score=0.88%). 展开更多

A Model for Detecting Fake News by Integrating Domain-Specific Emotional and Semantic Features

With the rapid spread of Internet information and the spread of fake news,the detection of fake news becomes more and more important.Traditional detection methods often rely on a single emotional or semantic feature to identify fake news,but these methods have limitations when dealing with news in specific domains.In order to solve the problem of weak feature correlation between data from different domains,a model for detecting fake news by integrating domain-specific emotional and semantic features is proposed.This method makes full use of the attention mechanism,grasps the correlation between different features,and effectively improves the effect of feature fusion.The algorithm first extracts the semantic features of news text through the Bi-LSTM(Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory)layer to capture the contextual relevance of news text.Senta-BiLSTM is then used to extract emotional features and predict the probability of positive and negative emotions in the text.It then uses domain features as an enhancement feature and attention mechanism to fully capture more fine-grained emotional features associated with that domain.Finally,the fusion features are taken as the input of the fake news detection classifier,combined with the multi-task representation of information,and the MLP and Softmax functions are used for classification.The experimental results show that on the Chinese dataset Weibo21,the F1 value of this model is 0.958,4.9% higher than that of the sub-optimal model;on the English dataset FakeNewsNet,the F1 value of the detection result of this model is 0.845,1.8% higher than that of the sub-optimal model,which is advanced and feasible. 展开更多

Considering that real communication signals corrupted by noise are generally nonstationary, and timefrequency distributions are especially suitable for the analysis of nonstationary signals, time-frequency distributions are introduced for the modulation classification of communication signals: The extracted time-frequency features have good classification information, and they are insensitive to signal to noise ratio (SNR) variation. According to good classification by the correct rate of a neural network classifier, a multilayer perceptron (MLP) classifier with better generalization, as well as, addition of time-frequency features set for classifying six different modulation types has been proposed. Computer simulations show that the MLP classifier outperforms the decision-theoretic classifier at low SNRs, and the classification experiments for real MPSK signals verify engineering significance of the MLP classifier. 展开更多

Fine-grained image classification, which aims to distinguish images with subtle distinctions, is a challenging task for two main reasons: lack of sufficient training data for every class and difficulty in learning discriminative features for representation. In this paper, to address the two issues, we propose a two-phase framework for recognizing images from unseen fine-grained classes, i.e., zeroshot fine-grained classification. In the first feature learning phase, we finetune deep convolutional neural networks using hierarchical semantic structure among fine-grained classes to extract discriminative deep visual features. Meanwhile, a domain adaptation structure is induced into deep convolutional neural networks to avoid domain shift from training data to test data. In the second label inference phase, a semantic directed graph is constructed over attributes of fine-grained classes. Based on this graph, we develop a label propagation algorithm to infer the labels of images in the unseen classes. Experimental results on two benchmark datasets demonstrate that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art zero-shot learning models. In addition, the features obtained by our feature learning model also yield significant gains when they are used by other zero-shot learning models, which shows the flexility of our model in zero-shot finegrained classification. 展开更多

By describing the evolution rules for semantic constraint information, the abstract expression of design semantics in mechanical product evolution process is realized and the constraint relations between parts are mapped to the geometric level from the semantic level; With semantic feature relation graph, the abstract semantic description, the semantic relative structure and the semantic constraint information are linked together; And the methods of semantic feature self-organized evolution are classified. Finally, combining a design example of domestic high-speed elevator, how to apply the theory to practical product development is illustrated and this method and its validity is described and verified. With the purpose of improving the accuracy of text categorization and reducing the dimension of the feature space,this paper proposes a two-stage feature selection method based on a novel category correlation degree(CCD)method and latent semantic indexing(LSI).In the first stage,a novel CCD method is proposed to select the most effective features for text classification,which is more effective than the traditional feature selection method.In the second stage,document representation requires a high dimensionality of the feature space and does not take into account the semantic relation between features,which leads to a poor categorization accuracy.So LSI method is proposed to solve these problems by using statistically derived conceptual indices to replace the individual terms which can discover the important correlative relationship between features and reduce the feature space dimension.Firstly,each feature in our algorithm is ranked depending on their importance of classification using CCD method.Secondly,we construct a new semantic space based on LSI method among features.The experimental results have proved that our method can reduce effectively the dimension of text vector and improve the performance of text categorization. 展开更多

In the textile industry,the presence of defects on the surface of fabric is an essential factor in determining fabric quality.Therefore,identifying fabric defects forms a crucial part of the fabric production process.Traditional fabric defect detection algorithms can only detect specific materials and specific fabric defect types;in addition,their detection efficiency is low,and their detection results are relatively poor.Deep learning-based methods have many advantages in the field of fabric defect detection,however,such methods are less effective in identifying multiscale fabric defects and defects with complex shapes.Therefore,we propose an effective algorithm,namely multilayer feature extraction combined with deformable convolution(MFDC),for fabric defect detection.In MFDC,multi-layer feature extraction is used to fuse the underlying location features with high-level classification features through a horizontally connected top-down architecture to improve the detection of multi-scale fabric defects.On this basis,a deformable convolution is added to solve the problem of the algorithm’s weak detection ability of irregularly shaped fabric defects.In this approach,Roi Align and Cascade-RCNN are integrated to enhance the adaptability of the algorithm in materials with complex patterned backgrounds.The experimental results show that the MFDC algorithm can achieve good detection results for both multi-scale fabric defects and defects with complex shapes,at the expense of a small increase in detection time. 展开更多

Content-Based Image Retrieval(CBIR)and image mining are becoming more important study fields in computer vision due to their wide range of applications in healthcare,security,and various domains.The image retrieval system mainly relies on the efficiency and accuracy of the classification models.This research addresses the challenge of enhancing the image retrieval system by developing a novel approach,EfficientNet-Convolutional Neural Network(EffNet-CNN).The key objective of this research is to evaluate the proposed EffNet-CNN model’s performance in image classification,image mining,and CBIR.The novelty of the proposed EffNet-CNN model includes the integration of different techniques and modifications.The model includes the Mahalanobis distance metric for feature matching,which enhances the similarity measurements.The model extends EfficientNet architecture by incorporating additional convolutional layers,batch normalization,dropout,and pooling layers for improved hierarchical feature extraction.A systematic hyperparameter optimization using SGD,performance evaluation with three datasets,and data normalization for improving feature representations.The EffNet-CNN is assessed utilizing precision,accuracy,F-measure,and recall metrics across MS-COCO,CIFAR-10 and 100 datasets.The model achieved accuracy values ranging from 90.60%to 95.90%for the MS-COCO dataset,96.8%to 98.3%for the CIFAR-10 dataset and 92.9%to 98.6%for the CIFAR-100 dataset.A validation of the EffNet-CNN model’s results with other models reveals the proposed model’s superior performance.The results highlight the potential of the EffNet-CNN model proposed for image classification and its usefulness in image mining and CBIR. 展开更多

Bilateral Dual-Residual Real-Time Semantic Segmentation Network

Real-time semantic segmentation tasks place stringent demands on network inference speed,often requiring a reduction in network depth to decrease computational load.However,shallow networks tend to exhibit degradation in feature extraction completeness and inference accuracy.Therefore,balancing high performance with real-time requirements has become a critical issue in the study of real-time semantic segmentation.To address these challenges,this paper proposes a lightweight bilateral dual-residual network.By introducing a novel residual structure combined with feature extraction and fusion modules,the proposed network significantly enhances representational capacity while reducing computational costs.Specifically,an improved compound residual structure is designed to optimize the efficiency of information propagation and feature extraction.Furthermore,the proposed feature extraction and fusion module enables the network to better capture multi-scale information in images,improving the ability to detect both detailed and global semantic features.Experimental results on the publicly available Cityscapes dataset demonstrate that the proposed lightweight dual-branch network achieves outstanding performance while maintaining low computational complexity.In particular,the network achieved a mean Intersection over Union(mIoU)of 78.4%on the Cityscapes validation set,surpassing many existing semantic segmentation models.Additionally,in terms of inference speed,the network reached 74.5 frames per second when tested on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 GPU,significantly improving real-time performance. 展开更多

Semantic segmentation plays a foundational role in biomedical image analysis, providing precise information about cellular, tissue, and organ structures in both biological and medical imaging modalities. Traditional approaches often fail in the face of challenges such as low contrast, morphological variability, and densely packed structures. Recent advancements in deep learning have transformed segmentation capabilities through the integration of fine-scale detail preservation, coarse-scale contextual modeling, and multi-scale feature fusion. This work provides a comprehensive analysis of state-of-the-art deep learning models, including U-Net variants, attention-based frameworks, and Transformer-integrated networks, highlighting innovations that improve accuracy, generalizability, and computational efficiency. Key architectural components such as convolution operations, shallow and deep blocks, skip connections, and hybrid encoders are examined for their roles in enhancing spatial representation and semantic consistency. CGMISeg:Context-Guided Multi-Scale Interactive for Efficient Semantic Segmentation

Semantic segmentation has made significant breakthroughs in various application fields,but achieving both accurate and efficient segmentation with limited computational resources remains a major challenge.To this end,we propose CGMISeg,an efficient semantic segmentation architecture based on a context-guided multi-scale interaction strategy,aiming to significantly reduce computational overhead while maintaining segmentation accuracy.CGMISeg consists of three core components:context-aware attention modulation,feature reconstruction,and crossinformation fusion.Context-aware attention modulation is carefully designed to capture key contextual information through channel and spatial attention mechanisms.The feature reconstruction module reconstructs contextual information from different scales,modeling key rectangular areas by capturing critical contextual information in both horizontal and vertical directions,thereby enhancing the focus on foreground features.The cross-information fusion module aims to fuse the reconstructed high-level features with the original low-level features during upsampling,promoting multi-scale interaction and enhancing the model’s ability to handle objects at different scales.We extensively evaluated CGMISeg on ADE20K,Cityscapes,and COCO-Stuff,three widely used datasets benchmarks,and the experimental results show that CGMISeg exhibits significant advantages in segmentation performance,computational efficiency,and inference speed,clearly outperforming several mainstream methods,including SegFormer,Feedformer,and SegNext.Specifically,CGMISeg achieves 42.9%mIoU(Mean Intersection over Union)and 15.7 FPS(Frames Per Second)on the ADE20K dataset with 3.8 GFLOPs(Giga Floating-point Operations Per Second),outperforming Feedformer and SegNeXt by 3.7%and 1.8%in mIoU,respectively,while also offering reduced computational complexity and faster inference.CGMISeg strikes an excellent balance between accuracy and efficiency,significantly enhancing both computational and inference performance while maintaining high precision,showcasing exceptional practical value and strong potential for widespread applications. 展开更多

Semantic segmentation of novel object categories with limited labeled data remains a challenging problem in computer vision.Few-shot segmentation methods aim to address this problem by recognizing objects from specific target classes with a few provided examples.Previous approaches for few-shot semantic segmentation typically represent target classes using class prototypes.These prototypes are matched with the features of the query set to get segmentation results.However,class prototypes are usually obtained by applying global average pooling on masked support images.Global pooling discards much structural information,which may reduce the accuracy of model predictions.To address this issue,we propose a Category-Guided Frequency Modulation(CGFM)method.CGFM is designed to learn category-specific information in the frequency space and leverage it to provide a twostage guidance for the segmentation process.First,to self-adaptively activate class-relevant frequency bands while suppressing irrelevant ones,we leverage the Dual-Perception Gaussian Band Pre-activation(DPGBP)module to generate Gaussian filters using class embedding vectors.Second,to further enhance category-relevant frequency components in activated bands,we design a Support-Guided Category Response Enhancement(SGCRE)module to effectively introduce support frequency components into the modulation of query frequency features.Experiments on the PASCAL-5^(i) and COCO-20^(i) datasets demonstrate the promising performance of our model. 展开更多
