In view of this, a flow hierarchy for uncertainty representation of ocean fronts is proposed on the basis of fuzzy-rough set theory. Firstly, raster scanning and blurring are carried out on an ocean front, and the upper and lower approximate sets, the indiscernible relation in fuzzy-rough theories and related operators in fuzzy set theories are adopted to represent its uncertainties, then they are classified into three sets: with members one hundred percent belonging to the ocean front, belonging to the ocean front's edge and definitely not belonging to the ocean front. Finally, the approximate precision and roughness degree are utilized to evaluate the ocean front's degree of uncertainties and the precision of the representation. It has been proven that the method is not only capable of representing ocean fronts' uncertainties, but also provides a new theory and method for uncertainty representation of other oceanic phenomena.展开更多

Due to the numerous variables to take into account as well as the inherent ambiguity and uncertainty,evaluating educational institutions can be difficult.The concept of a possibility Pythagorean fuzzy hypersoft set(pP...Due to the numerous variables to take into account as well as the inherent ambiguity and uncertainty,evaluating educational institutions can be difficult.The concept of a possibility Pythagorean fuzzy hypersoft set(pPyFHSS)is more flexible in this regard than other theoretical fuzzy set-like models,even though some attempts have been made in the literature to address such uncertainties.This study investigates the elementary notions of pPyFHSS including its set-theoretic operations union,intersection,complement,OR-and AND-operations.Some results related to these operations are also modified for pPyFHSS.Additionally,the similarity measures between pPyFHSSs are formulated with the assistance of numerical examples and results.Lastly,an intelligent decision-assisted mechanism is developed with the proposal of a robust algorithm based on similarity measures for solving multi-attribute decision-making(MADM)problems.A case study that helps the decision-makers assess the best educational institution is discussed to validate the suggested system.The algorithmic results are compared with the most pertinent model to evaluate the adaptability of pPyFHSS,as it generalizes the classical possibility fuzzy set-like theoretical models.Similarly,while considering significant evaluating factors,the flexibility of pPyFHSS is observed through structural comparison.展开更多

In this paper, we develop a series of power aggregation operators called simplified neutrosophic number power weighted averaging(SNNPWA) operator, simplified neutrosophic number power weighted geometric(SNNPWG) operator, simplified neutrosophic number power ordered weighted averaging(SNNPOWA) operator and simplified neutrosophic number power ordered weighted geometric(SNNPOWG) operator. We present some useful properties of the operators and discuss the relationships among them. Moreover, an approach to multiattribute group decision making(MAGDM) within the framework of SNSs is developed by the above aggregation operators.Finally, a practical application of the developed approach to deal with the problem of investment is given, and the result shows that our approach is reasonable and effective in dealing with uncertain decision making problems.展开更多

Additionally, some numerical examples are given to illustrate the applications of the proposed knowledge measure and some conventional entropies and knowledge measures of IFSs. The inverse problem analysis method provides an effective way for the structural parameter identification.However,uncertainties wildly exist in the practical engineering inverse problems.Due to the coupling of multi-s...The inverse problem analysis method provides an effective way for the structural parameter identification.However,uncertainties wildly exist in the practical engineering inverse problems.Due to the coupling of multi-source uncertainties in the measured responses and the modeling parameters,the traditional inverse method under the deterministic framework faces the challenges in solving mechanism and computing cost.In this paper,an uncertain inverse method based on convex model and dimension reduction decomposition is proposed to realize the interval identification of unknown structural parameters according to the uncertain measured responses and modeling parameters.Firstly,the polygonal convex set model is established to quantify the epistemic uncertainties of modeling parameters.Afterwards,a space collocation method based on dimension reduction decomposition is proposed to transform the inverse problem considering multi-source uncertainties into a few interval inverse problems considering response uncertainty.The transformed interval inverse problem involves the two-layer solving process including interval propagation and optimization updating.In order to solve the interval inverse problems considering response uncertainty,an efficient interval inverse method based on the high dimensional model representation and affine algorithm is further developed.Through the coupling of the above two strategies,the proposed uncertain inverse method avoids the time-consuming multi-layer nested calculation procedure,and then effectively realizes the uncertainty identification of unknown structural parameters.Finally,two engineering examples are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed uncertain inverse method.展开更多

Traditional ontologies contain only concepts and relations that describe asserted facts about the world. Modeling in a dynamic world requires taking into consideration the uncertainty that may arise in the domain. In this paper, the concept of soft sets initiated by Molodtsov and the concept of rough sets introduced by Pawlack are used to define a way of instantiating ontologies of vague domains. We define ontological algebraic operations and their properties while taking into consideration the uncertain nature of domains. We show that, by doing so, intra ontological operations and their properties are preserved and formalized as operations in a vague set of objects and can be proved algebraically.展开更多

The rough set-based technique was used to handle the uncertainty arisen from artifacts in the acquired images imprinted on a vehicle. However, it has been proved to be NP-hard to find all reductions and the minimal reduction, and generally different heuristic algorithms were used to find a set of reductions and the Ganssian distribution was used to describe the uncertainty to achieve the minimal reduction. On the basis of inductive logic programming, the technique can distinguish between two similar images, as is superior to the conventional pattern-recognition technique being merely capable of classifier. Furthermore, it can avoid some failures of the technique based on the correlation coefficient to authenticate binary image. The experiments show an accuracy rate close to 93. 2%.展开更多
For maritime radiation source target tracking in particular electronic counter measures(ECM)environment,there exists two main problems which can deteriorate the tracking performance of traditional approaches.The frs...For maritime radiation source target tracking in particular electronic counter measures(ECM)environment,there exists two main problems which can deteriorate the tracking performance of traditional approaches.The frst problem is the poor observability of the radiation source.The second one is the measurement uncertainty which includes the uncertainty of the target appearing/disappearing and the detection uncertainty(false and missed detections).A novel approach is proposed in this paper for tracking maritime radiation source in the presence of measurement uncertainty.To solve the poor observability of maritime radiation source target,using the radiation source motion restriction,the observer altitude information is incorporated into the bearings-only tracking(BOT)method to obtain the unique target localization.Then the two uncertainties in the ECM environment are modeled by the random fnite set(RFS)theory and the Bernoulli fltering method with the observer altitude is adopted to solve the tracking problem of maritime radiation source in such context.Simulation experiments verify the validity of the proposed approach for tracking maritime radiation source,and also demonstrate the superiority of the method compared with the traditional integrated probabilistic data association(IPDA)method.The tracking performance under different conditions,particularly those involving different duration of radiation source opening and switching-off,indicates that the method to solve our problem is robust and effective.展开更多

These three ambiguities in Planck’s scale are: the causal relationship between events, the position of the uncertainty principle, and the kinematic. Assuming the interaction between events, a new definition of the causal relationship is presented. Using the principle of superposition, more than one world line is attributed to two events that are interacting with each other to cover the uncertainty principle. Using these achievements, it is shown that kinematics has no place in the Planck dimension and that quantum spacetime manifold should be used instead.展开更多
