The multi-impact characteristics and failure mechanism of two kinds of automotive engine chain made in China are studied through engine assembly and road-drive tests. The worn surface morphologies of rubbing area between pin, bush and roller are also analyzed based on scanning electron microscope. The results show that the main wear mechanism of automotive engine chain is fatigue wear, and its failure mechanism is the forming, extending and flaking of cracks on top layer of pin and bush. In addition, the material, hot-treatment method and shaping technique for roller have a great influence upon the resistance to multi-impact. Ensuring sufficient strength and plasticity of roller, as well as adopting suitable shaping technique are the effective method to increase its resistance to multi-impact. 展开更多

In order to further understand the effect of solid impurities on pipeline wall during erosion,the particle impact process without fluid was extracted for specific study.The effect of multi-impact particles on the wall of pipeline was studied experimentally and simulated.In this experiment,an improved ejection apparatus was implemented to carry out multi-impacts non-overlapping impingement by rhombic particles made of high speed steel(W18Cr4V)on the AA6061 aluminum alloy plate through changing particle angle,incident angle,orientation angle and impact velocity.As a result,each particle's penetration depth was investigated and particles' rebound trajectory can be described through this experiment as well as surface morphology of the target material after impingement.The ductile damage criterion,shear damage criterion and MSFLD damage criterion were jointly implemented in ABAQUS/CAE software to simulate the whole process of collision which proved to be effective by getting consistent result compared with experimental data.It is found that under the condition of continuous non-overlapping impact,the target material produces a small work hardening effect in the impact area by converting kinetic energy of moving particles into internal energy of plate so as to reduce the penetration depth of each impact particle. 展开更多

This paper proposes an impact localization system based on the fiber Bragg grating (FBG) array and minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) beamforming algorithm. The linear FBG array, which contains seven FBG sensors, is used for detecting impact signals. Morlet wavelet transform is applied for extracting narrow-band signals of impact signals. According to the MVDR beamforming algorithm, the system realizes single-impact and multi-impact localizations. The localization system is verified on a 500mm×500mm×2mm carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) plate for single-impact and multi-impact localizations. The average locating error and the maximum locating error are 6.8mm and 9.gmm, respectively. 展开更多
