Deep rock engineering is affected by coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical(THM)-dynamic fields, necessitating the elucidation of the dynamic mechanical behavior and failure mechanisms. This study utilized a Multi-field Coupled Controlled Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar(MCC-SHPB)system to elucidate the cross-scale dynamic responses of rocks and the boundaries of failure modes under THM coupling.Impact tests were conducted on green sandstone under coupled conditions of temperature(25℃-80℃),confining pressure(0-15 MPa),and seepage water pressure(0-15 MPa).Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)microstructural characterization and COMSOL Multiphysics numerical simulations were conducted, and a dynamic constitutive theoretical framework and failure-prediction methodology were established. We investigated the impact toughness index(I_(t)),dynamic modulus(E_(d)),dynamic triaxial compressive strength(TCS_(d)),fragmentation degree(W),and failure modes of green sandstone under thermo-confining pressure-seepage-impact loading conditions. The key findings reveal that the(I_(t))reflects different energy regulation mechanisms across different confining pressure regimes.Thermal-microcrack interactions dominate at low pressure, and energy absorption prevails at high pressure.A triphasic dynamic modulus model captures stiffness evolution under energy-driven conditions, revealing cross-scale crack nucleation-propagation and fragment reorganization. The TCSd inflection point signifies energy dissipation shifts, causing nonlinear skeleton bearing-capacity degradation.A critical criterion based on the W was established to distinguish between the two failure modes and predict the unstable failure initiation.Numerical simulations were used to elucidate the effects of inertia-dominated crack propagation and stress wave interference, validating the critical criterion and the predictive accuracy of the theoretical model during cross-scale failure. This study provides a theoretical foundation for assessing the dynamic stability of rock masses subjected to multi-field coupling during deep resource exploitation. 展开更多

The occurrence of top-down(TD)cracking has gradually become a prevalent issue in semi-rigid base asphalt pavements after prolonged service.A coupled simulation model integrating the finite difference method(FDM)and discrete element method(DEM)was employed to investigate the mechanical behavior of asphalt pavement containing a pre-existing TD crack. The mesoscopic parameters of the model were calibrated based on the mixture modulus and the static mechanical response on the MLS66 test road. Finally,an analysis was performed to assess how variations in TD crack depth and longitudinal length affect the distribution patterns of transverse tensile stress, vertical shear stress, and vertical compressive stress. The results indicate that the vertical propagation of TD crack significantly increases both the tensile stress value and range on the middle surface, while the longitudinal development of TD crack has minimal impact. This phenomenon may result in more severe fatigue failure on the middle surface. With the vertical and longitudinal development of TD crack, the vertical shear stress and compressive stress show obvious"two-stage"characteristics.When the crack's vertical length reaches 40 mm,there is a sharp increase in stress on the upper surface. As the crack continues to propagate vertically, the growth of stress on the upper surface becomes negligible, while the stress in the middle and lower layers increased significantly.Conversely, for longitudinal development of TD crack, any changes in stress are insignificant when their length is less than 180 mm;however,as they continue to develop longitudinally beyond this threshold, there is a sharp increase in stress levels. These findings hold great significance for understanding pavement structure deterioration and maintenance behavior associated with TD crack. 展开更多

In the aerospace sector, the soft magnetic materials of Hermetically Sealed Electromagnetic Relays(HSERs)are critical in forming magnetic circuits.Conventional soft magnetic materials, primarily magnetic iron, have been unable to meet the development trend of fast-response,miniaturized,and lightweight aerospace and aviation systems. This paper applies circuit theory and electromagnetics theory to establish a Field-Circuit Coupling Mathematical Model(FCCMM)for dynamic response analysis of HSERs.This model centers on inductance calculation, with the core's permeability and saturation magnetic flux density as critical parameters.Based on this model, for a specific type of HSER,this paper introduced three alloys with key parameters different from magnetic iron, then tested the magnetic characteristic curves of these four soft magnetic materials, followed by simulations to obtain the electromagnetic characteristics of digital mock-ups corresponding to these four materials, compared and validated the dynamic responses corresponding to these four soft magnetic materials finally.Based on the theoretical model analysis results, this paper designed a lightweight coil to minimize response time, made prototypes, set up test systems, and tested dynamic characteristics. The experimental results indicate that the nanocrystalline alloy1K107B exhibits the most significant optimization, reducing the closing time by 40.48%and achieving a weight reduction of 6.53%. 展开更多

Numerical simulations on the coupling actions between the free surface oscillation in the moonpool and the heave motion response of hulls with vertical mooring stiffness are carried out in this study, where the influences of edge profiles, including sharp and convex edge profiles,on the coupling actions are considered.Two-peak variations in the free surface oscillations in the moonpool with incident wave frequencies can be observed, which are defined as the first and second peak frequencies. The free surface oscillations and heave motion responses show in-phase and out-of-phase relationships at the first and second peak frequencies, respectively. The convex edge profiles are able to generate effective suppressing actions at the second peak frequencies. However,it is only efficient for large vertical stiffness at the first peak frequency. The relative velocity between the fluid flow along the moonpool bottom and the heave motion of the hulls is the essential reason. 展开更多

Piezoelectric semiconductors(PSs)have widespread applications in semiconductor devices due to the coexistence of piezoelec-tricity and semiconducting properties. It is very important to conduct a theoretical analysis of PS structures. However, the present of nonlinearity in the partial differential equations(PDEs)that describe those multi-feld coupling mechanical behaviors of PSs poses a significant mathematical challenge when studying these PS structures. In this paper,we present a novel approach based on machine learning for solving multi-field coupling problems in PS structures.A physics-informed neural networks(PINNs)is constructed for predicting the multi-field coupling behaviors of PS rods with extensional deforma-tion.By utilizing the proposed PINNs,we evaluate the multi-field coupling responses of a ZnO rod under static and dynamic axial forces.Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed PINNs exhibit high accuracy in solving both static and dynamic problems associated with Ps structures. It provides an effective approach to predicting the nonlinear multi-feld coupling phe-nomena in PS structures. 展开更多

With the rapid advancement of electromagnetic launch technology, enhancing the structural stability and thermal resistance of armatures has become essential for improving the overall efficiency and reliability of railgun systems.Traditional aluminum alloy armatures often suffer from severe ablation, deformation, and uneven current distribution under high pulsed currents, which limit their performance and service life.To address these challenges, this study employs the Johnson–Cook constitutive model and the finite element method to develop armature models of aluminum matrix composites with varying heterogeneous graphene volume fractions. The temperature, stress, and strain of the armatures during operation were analyzed to investigate the effects of different graphene volume fractions on the deformation and damage behavior of aluminum matrix composite armatures under the multi-field coupling of electromagnetic, thermal, and structural interactions. The results indicate that, compared to the 6061 aluminum alloy matrix, the graphene-reinforced aluminum matrix composite armature significantly suppresses ablation damage at the tail and throat edges. The incorporation of graphene notably reduces the temperature rise during the armature emission process, increases the muzzle velocity under identical current excitation, and mitigates directional deformation of the armature. The 1 wt.% graphene-reinforced aluminum matrix composite armature demonstrates better agreement with experimental results at a strain rate of 2000 s^(-1),while simultaneously improving stress-strain response, reducing temperature rise, and improving velocity performance. 展开更多

[Objective]This study aims to investigate the multi-body hydrodynamic interaction mechanisms during offshore lifting operations of aquaculture net cages in wind-fishery integration systems.By integrating numerical simulations and dynamic analysis methods, this study systematically investigates the coupled dynamic response characteristics during the cage-carrier vessel separation process to reveal its dynamic evolution patterns and key influence mechanisms.[Method]Based on potential flow theory,a fully coupled dynamic analysis model of crane vessel-net cage-semi-submersible barge was established for a marine ranch project in Guangdong. The complete lifting process was dynamically simulated using SESAM software.Five typical operating sea states were configured to investigate the influence of wave parameters on the system's motion response under combined wave-current-wind actions.[Result]The results demonstrate that wave period dominates the system stability.Under short-period conditions, the system maintains stable motion with relatively small horizontal relative displacements, while long-period conditions excite low-frequency resonance, leading to significant slow-drift motions.Vertical response analysis reveals that long-period waves cause severe relative displacement fluctuations between the cage and semi-submersible vessel, with actual displacement amplitudes doubling the preset safety target of 2.045 m.Quantitative analysis further indicates that when significant wave height increases from 1.0 m to 1.5 m,the actual displacement amplitude increases by approximately 20%relative to the target displacement of 2.045 m,demonstrating that its influence is significantly weaker than the displacement variations induced by wave period changes. The complete dynamic simulation successfully captures the continuous dynamic response characteristics during the lifting process.[Conclusion]This research clarifies the influence mechanisms of wave parameters on the cage lifting process, identifying wave period as the crucial factor for operational safety. An operation window assessment method incorporating multi-body coupling effects is established, proposing a safety criterion with peak period not exceeding six seconds as the core requirement. The findings provide theoretical foundation for safe installation of marine ranch net cages and offer valuable references for similar offshore lifting operations. 展开更多

The coupling effects of rainfall, earthquake, and complex topographic and geological conditions complicate the dynamic responses and disasters of slope-tunnel systems. For this, the large-scale shaking table tests were carried out to explore the dynamic responses of steep bedding slope-tunnel system under the coupling effect of rainfall and earthquake. Results show that the slope surface and elevation amplification effect exhibit pronounced nonlinear change caused by the tunnel and weak interlayers. When seismic wave propagates to tunnels, the weak interlayers and rock intersecting areas present complex wave field distribution characteristics. The dynamic responses of the slope are influenced by the frequency, amplitude, and direction of seismic waves. The acceleration amplification coefficient initially rises and then falls as increasing seismic frequency, peaking at 20 Hz.Additionally, the seismic damage process of slope is categorized into elastic(2-3 m/s^(2)),elastoplastic(4-5 m/s^(2))and plastic damage stages(≥6.5 m/s^(2)).In elastic stage,ΔMPGA(ratio of acceleration amplification factor)increases with increasing seismic intensity, without obvious strain distribution change. In plastic stage,ΔMPGA begins to gradually plummet, and the strain is mainly distributed in the damaged area. The modes of seismic damage in the slope-tunnel system are mainly of tensile failure of the weak interlayer, cracking failure of tunnel lining, formation of persistent cracks on the slope crest and waist, development and outward shearing of the sliding mass, and buckling failure at the slope foot under extrusion of the upper rock body. This study can serve as a reference for predicting the failure modes of tunnel-slope system in strong seismic regions. 展开更多

The utilization of multi-field coupling simulation methods has become a pivotal approach for the investigation of intricate fracture behavior and interaction mechanisms of rock masses in deep strata. The high temperatures, pressures and complex geological environments of deep strata frequently result in the coupling of multiple physical fields, including mechanical, thermal and hydraulic fields, during the fracturing of rocks. This review initially presents an overview of the coupling mechanisms of these physical fields, thereby elucidating the interaction processes ofmechanical, thermal, and hydraulic fields within rockmasses.Secondly,an in-depth analysis ofmulti-field coupling is conducted from both spatial and temporal perspectives, with the introduction of simulation methods for a range of scales. It emphasizes cross-scale coupling methodologies for the transfer of rock properties and physical field data, including homogenization techniques, nested coupling strategies and data-driven approaches. To address the discontinuous characteristics of the rock fracture process, the review provides a detailed explanation of continuousdiscontinuous couplingmethods,to elucidate the evolution of rock fracturing and deformationmore comprehensively. In conclusion, the review presents a summary of the principal points, challenges and future directions of multi-field coupling simulation research. It also puts forward the potential of integrating intelligent algorithms with multi-scale simulation techniques to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of multi-field coupling simulations. This offers novel insights into multi-field coupling simulation analysis in deep rock masses. 展开更多

Due to the atomic-level centrosymmetric spontaneous polarization, antiferroelectric materials exhibit a sensitively nonlinear capacitive response to plural physic fields(mainly electric field and temperature)in a certain range, consequently leading to some superb material properties,e.g.,ripple suppression,elec-trocaloric cooling, and dielectric energy storage. However, there are many cognitive blanks about how this exotic multi-field relationε(E_(DC),T)is influenced and manipulated via microscopic structures in the anti-ferroelectrics.In this work, the classic antiferroelectric ceramics PLZT were selected to see this intelligent effect, based on a quad-parameterizedε(E_(DC))relation on the dependence of T.εrelations were studied under different material compositions, temperature, frequency,AC electric field, and DC electric field,re-vealing lattice/domain structure evolution and the underlying mechanism. The inherent phase stability, introduced random field, and hierarchical hysteresis states were found to co-dominate this multi-field nonlinear relation. This work would not only contribute to future progress in the current applications(ripple suppression/electrocaloric cooling/dielectric energy storage)but imply the possibility of co-sensing temperature and electric potential simply and smartly. 展开更多

Sandwich piezoelectric semiconductor(PS)structures have significant applications in multi-functional semiconductor devices. The analysis of multi-field coupling behaviors of PS structures is of fundamental importance in developing novel PS devices. In this paper,we develop a general temperature-deformation-polarization-carrier(TDPC)coupling model for sandwich-type PS beams involving pyroelectricity under thermal loadings, based on three-dimensional(3D)basic equations of the thermo-piezoelectric semiconductor(TPS).We derive analytical solutions for extensional, bending, and buckling deformations of simply-supported sandwich n-type PS beams subjected to open-circuit and electrically isolated boundary conditions. The accuracy of the proposed model in this paper is verified through finite element simulations implemented in the COMSOL software.Numerical results show that the initial electron concentration and the thickness ratio of the PS layer to the beam's total thickness have a significant effect on thermally induced extensional and bending responses,as well as critical buckling mechanical and thermal loadings. This study provides a theoretical framework and guidance for designing semiconductor devices based on sandwich PS beam structures. 展开更多

The seismic response characteristics of underground structures in saturated soils are investigated.A fully fluid-solid coupling dynamic model is developed and implemented into ABAQUS with a user-defined element to simulate the dynamic behavior of saturated soils. The accuracy of the model is validated using a classic example in literature. The performance of the model is verified by its application on simulating the seismic response characteristics of a subway station built in saturated soils. The merits of the model are demonstrated by comparing the difference of the seismic response of an underground structure in saturated soils between using the fully coupling model and a single-phase medium model. The study finds that the fully coupling model developed herein can simulate the dynamic response characteristics of the underground structures in saturated soils with high accuracy. The seismic response of the underground structure tends to be underestimated by using the single-phase medium model compared with using the fully coupling model, which provides a weaker confining action to the underground structure. 展开更多

To evaluate the coupling pounding-friction effect between bridge girders and retainers and its influence on bridge seismic response, a reinforced concrete (RC) continuous bridge is selected as the research object. Three bridge finite element (FE) models were built using OpenSees, in which the longitudinal and transverse pounding elements, as well as the transverse failure element of bearings were introduced. Based on this, tire seismic response analysis considering the coupling pounding-friction effect was conducted for the continuous bridge subjected to bi-directional ground motions. Furthermore, the influential parameters were analyzed. The analysis results indicate that the coupling pounding-friction effect can alter the internal force distribution of the bridge structure and generate additional torsional force to bridge columns. The friction coefficient and longitudinal pounding gap size are two important factors. The appropriate friction coefficient and longitudinal pounding gap size can significantly reduce seismic response of girders, and effectively transfer part of the girder inertia force from the fixed columns to the sliding columns, which can reduce the seismic demands of the fixed columns and improve the seismic performance of continuous bridge structures. 展开更多

With the variation of aqueduct cross-section ratio of depth to width, the aqueduct transverse seismic response change. The transverse seismic response of a large-scale aqueduct in several work condition are calculated. The voltage and frequency dynamics interact with each other in the island after splitting. The current frequency response model without considering the voltage effect would bring remarkable errors when analyzing the frequency dynamic progress in the island with large-capacity active-power shortage. In this paper, coupling effects of voltage and frequency are studied to indicate that initial reactive-power deficit and load characteristics have strong effects on the coupling effects of the voltage and frequency. Moreover, control effects of currently used under frequency load-shedding relays (UFLS) and under voltage load-shedding relays (UVLS) which are installed and executed independently are examined to find that it would sometimes cause excessive or inadequate control without considering the coupling, suggesting that it is necessary to develop coordinate control methods for voltage and frequency problems. 展开更多

Sea-crossing bridges are affected by random wind–wave–undercurrent coupling loads, due to the complex marine environment. The dynamic response of long-span Rail-cum-Road cable-stayed bridges is particularly severe under their influence, potentially leading to safety problems. In this paper, a fluid–structure separation solution method is implemented using Ansys–Midas co-simulation, in order to solve the above issues effectively while using less computational resources. The feasibility of the method is verified by comparing the tower top displacement response with relevant experimental data. From time and frequency domain perspectives, the displacement and acceleration responses of the sea-crossing Rail-cum-Road cable-stayed bridge influenced by wave-only, wind–wave, and wind–wave–undercurrent coupling are comparatively studied. The results indicate that the displacement and acceleration of the front bearing platform top are more significant than those of the rear bearing platform. The dominant frequency under wind–wave–undercurrent coupling is close to the natural vibration frequencies of several bridge modes, such that wind–wave–undercurrent coupling is more likely to cause a resonance effect in the bridge. Compared with the wave-only and wind–wave coupling, wind–wave–undercurrent coupling can excite bridges to produce larger displacement and acceleration responses: at the middle of the main girder span, compared with the wave-only case, the maximum displacement in the transverse bridge direction increases by 23.58% and 46.95% in the wind–wave and wind–wave–undercurrent coupling cases, respectively;at the tower top, the variation in the amplitude of the displacement and acceleration responses of wind–wave and wind–wave–undercurrent coupling are larger than those in the wave-only case, where the acceleration change amplitude of the tower top is from-0.93 to 0.86 m/s^(2) in the waveonly case, from-2.2 to 2.1 m/s^(2) under wind–wave coupling effect, and from-2.6 to 2.65 m/s^(2) under wind–wave–undercurrent coupling effect, indicating that the tower top is mainly affected by wind loads, but wave and undercurrent loads cannot be neglected. 展开更多

To study the misalignment of gear coupling, this paper analyzed the distortion of the tooth of gear coupling on the base of gear coupling’s motion under parallel misalignment, and derived the specific expression of additive radial force, which produced by the rotor’ torque. The motion differential equations of the large increased pressure wind tunnel rotor-gear coupling system were derived by the finite element method. Newmark integral method was applied to calculate the dynamic response of the system with parallel misalignment. The numerical results show that: under the effect of additive radial force, the static misalignment can arouse 2X frequency component lateral vibration; the dynamic misalignment can arouse2X,4X,6X multiple frequency components lateral vibration. The 2X frequency component is obvious. The additive radial force of the gear coupling can arouse lateral vibration with even multiple frequency components. 展开更多
