This study investigates the relationships between knowledge modeling, institutional memory, leadership styles, technology, and administrative efficiency at the University of Cape Coast (UCC). The study sought to identify the challenges and opportunities in integrating digital tools into administrative processes and to provide actionable recommendations for improvement. A mixed-methods research design was employed, combining quantitative analysis using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with qualitative thematic analysis of interviews. The findings revealed key challenges, including resistance to change, fragmented knowledge repositories, and inadequate funding, alongside opportunities such as centralized knowledge systems, cost-effective open-source tools, and capacity-building initiatives. The study highlights the importance of strategic leadership, robust policies, and investments in digital infrastructure to enhance administrative practices. Policy implications include the need for clear digital transformation guidelines and leadership training to foster innovation and collaboration. Recommendations include investing in scalable digital tools, implementing comprehensive capacity-building programs, and promoting stakeholder engagement to drive successful digital integration. Purpose:This study attempts to disclose the characteristics of knowledge integration in an interdisciplinary field by looking into the content aspect of knowledge.Design/methodology/approach:The eHealth field was chos...Purpose:This study attempts to disclose the characteristics of knowledge integration in an interdisciplinary field by looking into the content aspect of knowledge.Design/methodology/approach:The eHealth field was chosen in the case study.Associated knowledge phrases(AKPs)that are shared between citing papers and their references were extracted from the citation contexts of the eHealth papers by applying a stem-matching method.A classification schema that considers the functions of knowledge in the domain was proposed to categorize the identified AKPs.The source disciplines of each knowledge type were analyzed.Quantitative indicators and a co-occurrence analysis were applied to disclose the integration patterns of different knowledge types.Findings:The annotated AKPs evidence the major disciplines supplying each type of knowledge.Different knowledge types have remarkably different integration patterns in terms of knowledge amount,the breadth of source disciplines,and the integration time lag.We also find several frequent co-occurrence patterns of different knowledge types.Research limitations:The collected articles of the field are limited to the two leading open access journals.The stem-matching method to extract AKPs could not identify those phrases with the same meaning but expressed in words with different stems.The type of Research Subject dominates the recognized AKPs,which calls on an improvement of the classification schema for better knowledge integration analysis on knowledge units.Practical implications:The methodology proposed in this paper sheds new light on knowledge integration characteristics of an interdisciplinary field from the content perspective.The findings have practical implications on the future development of research strategies in eHealth and the policies about interdisciplinary research.Originality/value:This study proposed a new methodology to explore the content characteristics of knowledge integration in an interdisciplinary field.展开更多
Purpose:According to the different requirements of research group users,we established the knowledge-based subject group integration platforms of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics,the Chinese Academy of Sciences(abbrevia...Purpose:According to the different requirements of research group users,we established the knowledge-based subject group integration platforms of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics,the Chinese Academy of Sciences(abbreviated as SIC CAS hereinafter),which were designed and constructed to better meet the needs of CAS research groups for their development,collaboration and communication.Design/methodology/approach:We first identified the requirements of users via preliminary investigation,and then chose CASI1 P,iLibrary and XKE technology,respectively as the building tools compatible with the major demands of users.These steps helped us complete the layout design of SIC CAS integration platforms,as well as its knowledge organization and integration.Findings:According to the need of users,we applied three types of platform construction technologies to five SIC integration platforms,and formulated standard norms for the further construction process,which could provide useful reference for a sustainable development for the extensive construction in CAS institutes.Research limitations:In order to make the SIC integration platforms more intelligent and have more functions,we need to enlarge the scale of the Platforms and upgrade the building tools for the platform construction.Practical implications:The nature of SIC sub-project integration platforms is to construct a content-sensitive environment which can embed knowledge services and knowledge applications seamlessly into scientific activities,so the Platform is expected to be a useful tool to help researchers better understand the recent development of the research field and form collaborations with their peers.Originality/value:SIC integration platforms are the only pilot construction that used 3different platform technologies in the first batch of knowledge-based subject group integration platforms of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.The construction is user-centered throughout the whole process,namely,from the technology selection,content construction to the sustainable development of the platforms,which are all based on user requirements.During this process,we have not only established sustainable mechanisms for both the personalized feedback and security management of the institutional knowledge of SIC CAS,but also formed a service team for the sustainable development of SIC integration platforms.展开更多

Purpose:As scientific resources are widely distributed,researchers often have difficulties in acquiring information from different individual sources.This paper intends to present a new approach to construct a subject...Purpose:As scientific resources are widely distributed,researchers often have difficulties in acquiring information from different individual sources.This paper intends to present a new approach to construct a subject-knowledge-based integration platform which was carried out by the Institute of Software,Chinese Academy of Sciences(ISCAS).Our aim is to use technique tools to strengthen the library service by combining a variety of information service resources with knowledge tools.Design/methodology/approach:Based on the analysis of users’ needs,we established a collaborative team across ISCAS Library,National Science Library of CAS(NSL CAS),and ISCAS’ research groups or research labs.With the service tools developed by ISCAS Library,we embedded other multipurpose utility tools of knowledge integration into the platform as to make full use of software tools in knowledge integration,knowledge fusion,and intelligent push of library services to end users.Findings:With a hard effort of the construction team,the ISCAS subject group platform(hereinafter as ISCAS Platform) has integrated such information resources as institutional repository(IR) of ISCAS,open resources from websites and subject resources of computer sciences.Up to date,ISCAS platform can provide integrated information services including data collection for computer science and intelligent generation of citation reports,by means of embedding self-developed discovering tools for domain experts and subject content,and generation tools for scientific citation reports.Research limitations:Knowledge organization need be further improved in the ISCAS subject group platform.In addition,functions for academic exchanges need be maximized as to meet the individual demands of researchers for library services at the Platform.Practical implications:Since we Platform has been put into use through the Library website of the ISCAS in June 2012,many academic libraries from both domestic universities and CAS institutes have showed their strong interest for our self-developed tools,among which more than 10 cooperation partnerships have been formed.Originality/value:Through self-developed service tools and the integration of multiple-type resources,our Platform has solved such key problems as timely access and update of the trusted resources from a third party,and the rapid fusion and extension of library resources while establishing subject knowledge environment.So the ISCAS library can provide a flexible customization of library services according to the need of different users.展开更多

OBJECT...BACKGROUND： Disagreement exists regarding the need for knowledge about complementary and integrative health（CIH） strategies, as well as for the need to consider such strategies in clinical nursing practice. OBJECTIVE： This study was conducted to assess the knowledge, attitude and use of CIH strategies among nurses in Iran. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTIONS： A cross-sectional study of nurses working in two hospitals of Zabol University of Medical Sciences, in southeast Iran, was conducted from October 2014 to April 2015. The questionnaire, developed specifically for this research, was used to assess the knowledge, attitude and use of CIH by nurses. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to interpret the survey responses.RESULTS： Most nurses（n=95, 60.5%） have average knowledge about CIH strategies with most holding a positive attitude about use（n=81, 51.6%）. The majority（n=90, 57.3%） of nurses, however, never applied CIH methods. Where CIH was used, massage was most often clinically applied（n=129, 82.2%） and a large percentage believed it useful for treating illness（n=136, 87.9%）. Other CIH methods commonly used included prayer and herbal medicine.CONCLUSION： Nurses have positive attitudes about CIH though knowledge was typically weak. Educational programs should carefully consider how knowledge about CIH methods could be strengthened within curricula.展开更多

文摘Purpose:According to the different requirements of research group users,we established the knowledge-based subject group integration platforms of Shanghai Institute of Ceramics,the Chinese Academy of Sciences(abbreviated as SIC CAS hereinafter),which were designed and constructed to better meet the needs of CAS research groups for their development,collaboration and communication.Design/methodology/approach:We first identified the requirements of users via preliminary investigation,and then chose CASI1 P,iLibrary and XKE technology,respectively as the building tools compatible with the major demands of users.These steps helped us complete the layout design of SIC CAS integration platforms,as well as its knowledge organization and integration.Findings:According to the need of users,we applied three types of platform construction technologies to five SIC integration platforms,and formulated standard norms for the further construction process,which could provide useful reference for a sustainable development for the extensive construction in CAS institutes.Research limitations:In order to make the SIC integration platforms more intelligent and have more functions,we need to enlarge the scale of the Platforms and upgrade the building tools for the platform construction.Practical implications:The nature of SIC sub-project integration platforms is to construct a content-sensitive environment which can embed knowledge services and knowledge applications seamlessly into scientific activities,so the Platform is expected to be a useful tool to help researchers better understand the recent development of the research field and form collaborations with their peers.Originality/value:SIC integration platforms are the only pilot construction that used 3different platform technologies in the first batch of knowledge-based subject group integration platforms of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.The construction is user-centered throughout the whole process,namely,from the technology selection,content construction to the sustainable development of the platforms,which are all based on user requirements.During this process,we have not only established sustainable mechanisms for both the personalized feedback and security management of the institutional knowledge of SIC CAS,but also formed a service team for the sustainable development of SIC integration platforms.

文摘Global learning professional competencies (GLPCs) are essential for college students to be able to address the impact of globalization in the 21st century. Organizations and society-at-large look to higher education to prepare college students with GLPCs. In addition, there is a body of literature that suggest personal tacit knowledge enhance GLPCs. However, researchers have done little from an empirical perspective to determine the relationship between the use of P-T K and enhancement of GLPCs, hence the purpose of this study. The statistical results revealed significant correlations, p st century knowledge society through use of P-T K.
文摘This paper presented some philosophic viewpoints of the Theory of BMKI (The Theory of Biomedical Knowledge Integration), a new exploration in BioMedica l Informatics. It discussed an evolutional relation from propositional calculus, predicate calculus, through framework, to neural network.. The differences in e xclusivity and other natures were explored for physical systems(the real world), quasi-physical systems(the copies of the real world) and mental systems(the abs tracts of the real world). Based on their behaviours in cognitive sciences and k nowledge engineering, the new concepts quasi-infinity or -infinitesimal,potentia l knowledge,dynamic knowledge were introduced. This paper has also described so called "big-or" space which is the base of scientific understanding or associati on. Furthermore the paper put forward the viewpoint that "reasoning only can imp lement in an axiomatic space" and then outlined the building processes of such k ind of space. At last so called "beacon-and-compass strategy" in BMKI was introd uced.
文摘In this paper, we conduct analysis on the optimization approaches of contemporary piano education system from the perspective of music knowledge integration. In the process of the piano teaching, teacher and school the training of musicianship as the key point of teaching. This is because the skill can through student plays to display directly, appraises the student performance technique quality an important criterion. However, the student has the excellent adept technique merely also by far insufficient, but also needs the high artistic aesthetic ability, not only need be able to appreciate the piano performance, but must be able to reveal the artistic aesthetic feature in the process of piano performance. Piano education as one of the ways of music education, and other subjects, there is the subject of the universal education as its educational ideas, educational ideas and teaching methods, a direct impact on the generation after generation of the comprehensive quality of education. Under this basis, we propose the new idea on the issues that will be beneficial.

It discussed at first the structural nature of things, then probed a principle which is a basis for both of the fractal theory and the wavelet analysis, being called the shape-constancy law of the basic constructors at the different scale levels. And the paper also ventured the equivalency between the shape of wave and matrix, thus presented a new concept “shaped-number”, being expected to work in the operations of some bio-medical functions or shapes.

文摘Purpose:As scientific resources are widely distributed,researchers often have difficulties in acquiring information from different individual sources.This paper intends to present a new approach to construct a subject-knowledge-based integration platform which was carried out by the Institute of Software,Chinese Academy of Sciences(ISCAS).Our aim is to use technique tools to strengthen the library service by combining a variety of information service resources with knowledge tools.Design/methodology/approach:Based on the analysis of users’ needs,we established a collaborative team across ISCAS Library,National Science Library of CAS(NSL CAS),and ISCAS’ research groups or research labs.With the service tools developed by ISCAS Library,we embedded other multipurpose utility tools of knowledge integration into the platform as to make full use of software tools in knowledge integration,knowledge fusion,and intelligent push of library services to end users.Findings:With a hard effort of the construction team,the ISCAS subject group platform(hereinafter as ISCAS Platform) has integrated such information resources as institutional repository(IR) of ISCAS,open resources from websites and subject resources of computer sciences.Up to date,ISCAS platform can provide integrated information services including data collection for computer science and intelligent generation of citation reports,by means of embedding self-developed discovering tools for domain experts and subject content,and generation tools for scientific citation reports.Research limitations:Knowledge organization need be further improved in the ISCAS subject group platform.In addition,functions for academic exchanges need be maximized as to meet the individual demands of researchers for library services at the Platform.Practical implications:Since we Platform has been put into use through the Library website of the ISCAS in June 2012,many academic libraries from both domestic universities and CAS institutes have showed their strong interest for our self-developed tools,among which more than 10 cooperation partnerships have been formed.Originality/value:Through self-developed service tools and the integration of multiple-type resources,our Platform has solved such key problems as timely access and update of the trusted resources from a third party,and the rapid fusion and extension of library resources while establishing subject knowledge environment.So the ISCAS library can provide a flexible customization of library services according to the need of different users.

文摘Understanding definitions and differences between the processes,knowledge processes and business processes is the first step of the integration of knowledge processes into management systems of an organization.The next step is to understand throughout the company why the processes should be introduced and continuously maintained.The knowledge is one of the most valuable assets of the company,relevant part of the intellectual capital.The management of the knowledge and its lifecycle can give a market advantage for the organization.In the nuclear industry this is the vital requirement to maintain the safe and reliable operation of a nuclear facility,or radiation safety activates.Those companies who already implemented an integrated management system were following international standards,or good practices(like ISO 9001,EFQM,Standard Nuclear Performance Model developed by Nuclear Energy Institute(NEI)and others).This article focuses on nuclear industry organizations,approaches and methods,and how to integrate the knowledge processes into management system.This is the last step of the knowledge management implementation in an organization.When it was done,we can say that the knowledge processes are embedded into organization’s day-to-day life and the knowledge managed in the organization as all other resources.

Based on this argument a new concept cognitive segment (CS), which is considered with having both physical and formalized quality, was introduced. Centered on CS, the paper presented a series of new basic concepts and their definitions, a set of symbols and expressions, and afterwards explored the types, quasi-formalized expressions, mapping nature, methodology for operations, two distinguished differences, commonsensible background analyses, cognitive dimension regression, supervising function of CSs.
文摘BACKGROUND： Disagreement exists regarding the need for knowledge about complementary and integrative health（CIH） strategies, as well as for the need to consider such strategies in clinical nursing practice. OBJECTIVE： This study was conducted to assess the knowledge, attitude and use of CIH strategies among nurses in Iran. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTIONS： A cross-sectional study of nurses working in two hospitals of Zabol University of Medical Sciences, in southeast Iran, was conducted from October 2014 to April 2015. The questionnaire, developed specifically for this research, was used to assess the knowledge, attitude and use of CIH by nurses. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to interpret the survey responses.RESULTS： Most nurses（n=95, 60.5%） have average knowledge about CIH strategies with most holding a positive attitude about use（n=81, 51.6%）. The majority（n=90, 57.3%） of nurses, however, never applied CIH methods. Where CIH was used, massage was most often clinically applied（n=129, 82.2%） and a large percentage believed it useful for treating illness（n=136, 87.9%）. Other CIH methods commonly used included prayer and herbal medicine.CONCLUSION： Nurses have positive attitudes about CIH though knowledge was typically weak. Educational programs should carefully consider how knowledge about CIH methods could be strengthened within curricula.
文摘In complicated application environment such as CIMS (Computer Integrated Manufacture System) enterprise, it will bring great benefits to integrate distributed knowledge sources. But the difficulties of knowledge sharing and reuse seriously encumbrance the implementation of knowledge integration. In this paper, we describe how a framework of knowledge-integrated system based on ontology (KISO) can be used to support integrating distributed knowledge sources.
