Firstly, based on the screw theory, the mobility of the proposed parallel manipulator is briefly analysed. Secondly, the kinematic inverse position and the parasitic motion of the parallel manipulator are explicitly expressed. Furthermore, motion-force transmission performance evaluation indices are derived in detail via an alternative approach based on the screw theory. More importantly, a simple method for quickly solving the maximum virtual power coefficient is proposed, and the motion-force transmission performance evaluation index is greatly improved. To evaluate the kinematic performance, its workspace is calculated. With numerical examples, performance distribution atlases of the manipulator are depicted visually. The corresponding results illustrate that the proposed parallel manipulator has better orientation workspace and superior motion-force transmission performance than the 2 PRU-PRS parallel manipulator, which proves the validity and applicability of applying this manipulator as a machining head.展开更多

In order to recover the image and gain recognizable target, an approach to recover the space-variant blurred image is presented based on image segmentation. Be- cause of motion blur's convolution process, the pixels of observed image's target and background will be displaced and piled up to produce two superposition regions. As a result, the neighbor- ing pixels in the superposition regions will have similar grey level change. According to the pixel's motion-blur character, the target's blurred edge of superposition region could be detected. Canny operator can be recurred to detect the target edge which parallels the motion blur direction. Then in the segmentation process, the whole target image which has the character of integral convolution between motion blur and real target image can be obtained. At last, the target image is restored by deconvolution algorithms with adding zeros. The restoration result indicates that the approach can effectively solve the kind of problem of space-variant motion blurred image restoration.展开更多

The home-end system can not only provide the exercise coaching instruction, the balance stability analysis, and the motion similarity analysis in real-time, but also simultaneously transmit the user image, exercise skeleton streaming, center of pressure (COP), center of gravity (COG) and physiological information to the telecare-end center. According to the combination of the home-end and the telecare-end as well as the real-time care management of one-to-multiple personal balance exercise monitor, this system can provide user various personalized balance exercise prescription and cardiac rehabilitation coaching in an effectiveness rehabilitation exercise environment. Therefore, via this tele-system, the spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) patients in balance rehabilitation stage not only can be monitored execution status of the rehabilitation exercise prescription, but also can be long-term monitored and evaluated the predicted goal of the rehabilitation exercise balance stability in order to improve patient’s compliance.展开更多

The restoration of motion vector field computed by 3-D RS is addressed and a propagating adaptive-weighted vector median (PAWVM) post-filter is proposed. This approach decomposes blocks to make a better estimation on object borders and propagates good vectors in the scanning direction. Furthermore, a hard-thresholding method is introduced into calculating vector weights to improve the propagating. By exploiting both the spatial correlation of the vector field and the matching error of candidate vectors, PAWVM makes a good balance between the smoothness of vector field and the prediction error, and the output vector field is more valid to reflect the true motion.展开更多

Most virtual reality studies have involved chronic stroke patients; however, brain plasticity remains good in acute and subacute patients. Most virtual reality systems are only applicable to the proximal upper limbs (arms) because of the limitations of their capture systems. Nevertheless, the functional recovery of an affected hand is most difficult in the case of hemiparesis rehabilitation after a stroke. The recently developed Leap Motion controller can track the fine movements of both hands and fingers. Therefore, the present study explored the effects of a Leap Motion-based virtual reality system on subacute stroke. Twenty-six subacute stroke patients were assigned to an experimental group that received virtual reality training along with conventional occupational rehabilitation, and a control group that only received conventional rehabilitation. The Wolf motor func- tion test (WMFT) was used to assess the motor function of the affected upper limb; functional magnetic resonance imaging was used to measure the cortical activation. After four weeks of treatment, the motor functions of the affected upper limbs were significantly improved in all the patients, with the improvement in the experimental group being significantly better than in the control group. The action perfor- mance time in the WMFT significantly decreased in the experimental group. Furthermore, the activation intensity and the laterality index of the contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex increased in both the experimental and control groups. These results confirmed that Leap Motion-based virtual reality training was a promising and feasible supplementary rehabilitation intervention, could facilitate the recovery of motor functions in subacute stroke patients. The study has been registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (registration number: ChiCTR-OCH- 12002238).展开更多

It adopts a block matching algorithm to estimate motion vectors and uses morphological tools such as open-close by reconstruction and the region-growing version of the watershed algorithm for spatial segmentation to improve the temporal segmentation. In order to determine the reliable motion vectors, this paper also proposes a change detection algorithm and a multi-candidate pro- screening motion estimation method. Preliminary simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is feasible. The main advantage of the scheme is its low computational load.展开更多
