To deal with the optimal design of a redundantly actuated parallel robot used for ankle rehabilitation, a methodology of dimensional synthesis based on multi-objective optimization is presented. First, the dimensional synthesis of the redundant parallel robot is formulated as a nonlinear constrained multi-objective optimization problem. Then four objective functions, separately reflecting occupied space, input/output transmission and torque performances, and multi-criteria constraints, such as dimension, interference and kinematics, are defined. In consideration of the passive exercise of plantar/dorsiflexion requiring large output moment, a torque index is proposed. To cope with the actuation redundancy of the parallel robot, a new output transmission index is defined as well. The multi-objective optimization problem is solved by using a modified Differential Evolution(DE) algorithm, which is characterized by new selection and mutation strategies. Meanwhile, a special penalty method is presented to tackle the multi-criteria constraints. Finally, numerical experiments for different optimization algorithms are implemented. The computation results show that the proposed indices of output transmission and torque, and constraint handling are effective for the redundant parallel robot; the modified DE algorithm is superior to the other tested algorithms, in terms of the ability of global search and the number of non-dominated solutions. The proposed methodology of multi-objective optimization can be also applied to the dimensional synthesis of other redundantly actuated parallel robots only with rotational movements.展开更多

However, due to the performance differences caused by the tolerance of engine manufacturing and assembly, and performance degradation during continuously stringent environmental regulations, the model accuracy is severely reduced. In this paper, an adaptive modification method of turbofan engine nonlinear Component-Llevel Model(CLM) based on Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM) Neural Network(NN) and hybrid optimization algorithm is pro-posed. First, a dynamic compensator with a combined LSTM NN architecture is constructed to compensate for the initial error between the experimental data and CLM of a turbofan engine under health condition. Then, a sensitivity analysis approach based on the entropy coefficient and technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution integrated evaluation is developed to choose the unmeasurable health parameters to be adjusted. Finally, a parallel hybrid optimization algorithm is developed to complete the adaptive model modification when the performance degrades. The proposed method is verified on a military low-bypass twin-spool turbofan engine, and the experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.展开更多

To demonstrate and obtain the optimal condition, the unit was simulated by using a steady-state flowsheet simulator, i.e. Aspen Plus, under different operational conditions. According to the simulation results, the unit was not operational under its optimal conditions due to some defects in the cooling system at top stage of the debutanizer tower(DBT) during hot and humid seasons. Additionally, the vapor pressure of produced LPG and accordingly the amount of its flaring were decreased by reducing the temperature of debutanizer tower at top stages. In the optimization section, the DBT condenser and reboiler heat duty, temperature, and pressure were regulated as adjustable parameters. The simulation results demonstrated that by applying the optimum suggestion in the hot months, the reflux stream temperature was reached about 55 ℃ which caused an efficient increment in LPG production(about 4%) with adjusting the propane component in LPG, based on the standard range as the plant criteria. Moreover, after applying modifications, about 750 t of LPG product was saved from flaring during five hot months of the year, which resulted in 360000 USD extra annual income for the company. Finally, from environmental point of view, this optimization caused to reduce 81 t of CO_2 emission to the environment. Therefore, the current investigation must be introduced as a friendly environmentally process.展开更多

The conical fin is divided into finite elements which have different generatrix slopes, and the geometry of the conical fin is finally determined by ensuring that every divided element can maintain the maximum heat transfer rate. Based on the actual condition of every element of the fin, the heat conduction equation is solved step by step. When the typical density interpolation approach, namely, solid isotropic microstructures with penalization (SIMP), is employed in the continuum structural topology optimization, a new density interpolation approach based on the logistic function is proposed in this paper. This method can weaken low-relative-density elements while enhancing high-relative-density elements by polarization, and then rationally realize polarization of the intermediate density elements. It can reduce the number of gray-scale elements as much as possible to get the optimal topology with distinct boundaries in conjunction with the sensitivity filtering method based on particle swarm optimization (PSO). Several typical numerical examples are given to demonstrate this method.展开更多

Several recent advanced optimization methods have been developed, but very few of these methods have been applied to geotechnical problems. The current research develops a modified particle swarm optimization (MPSO) approach to obtain the optimum design of spread footing and retaining wall. The algorithm handles the problem-specific constraints using a penalty function approach. The optimization procedure controls all geotechnical and structural design constraints while reducing the overall cost of the structures. To verify the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed algorithm, three case studies of spread footing and retaining wall are illustrated. Comparison of the results of the present method, standard PSO, and other selected methods employed in previous studies shows the reliability and accuracy of the algorithm. Moreover, the parametric performance is investigated in order to examine the effect of relevant variables on the optimum design of the footing and the retaining structure utilizing the proposed method.展开更多

Eventually, experimental validation is employed to test the proposed method, which demonstrates the usefulness of this method.

文摘Dimensional synthesis is one of the most difficult issues in the field of parallel robots with actuation redundancy. The proposed methodology of multi-objective optimization can be also applied to the dimensional synthesis of other redundantly actuated parallel robots only with rotational movements.

文摘An accurate and reliable turbofan engine model which can describe its dynamic behavior within the full flight envelop and lifecycle plays a critical role in performance optimization, controller design and fault diagnosis. The proposed method is verified on a military low-bypass twin-spool turbofan engine, and the experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

文摘Present of wind power is sporadically and cannot be utilized as the only fundamental load of energy sources. This paper proposes a wind-solar hybrid energy storage system(HESS)to ensure a stable supply grid for a longer period.A multi-objective genetic algorithm(MOGA)and state of charge(SOC)region division for the batteries are introduced to solve the objective function and configuration of the system capacity,respectively.MATLAB/Simulink was used for simulation test. The optimization results show that for a 0.5 MW wind power and 0.5 MW photovoltaic system, with a combination of a 300 Ah lithium battery,a 200 Ah lead-acid battery, and a water storage tank, the proposed strategy reduces the system construction cost by approximately 18,000 yuan.Additionally, the cycle count of the electrochemical energy storage systemincreases from4515 to 4660,while the depth of discharge decreases from 55.37%to 53.65%,achieving shallow charging and discharging, thereby extending battery life and reducing grid voltage fluctuations significantly. The proposed strategy is a guide for stabilizing the grid connection of wind and solar power generation, capability allocation, and energy management of energy conservation systems.
文摘In the present study, a great effort was made to improve the performance of an industrial liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) and natural gas liquid(NGL) production unit in one of the major gas refinery located at Pars special economic zone in Iran. Therefore, the current investigation must be introduced as a friendly environmentally process.

文摘The classification of spatial characteristics and discharge modes of dielectric barrier discharge(DBD)are gaining increasing attention in industrial applications, especially in the field of surface treatment of materials. In this work, gray level histogram(GLH)and Fourier energy spectrum based on the digital image processing tech no logy are applied to investigate the spatial structure and discharge mode of mesh-plate DBD.The coefficient of variation(CV)is calculated to describe the uniformity of the discharge. The results show that the discharge mode of mesh-plate DBD changes from periodic discharge to filamentary discharge when the applied voltage increases from 11-15 kV.Moreover,a more regular spatial structure is obtained under lower applied voltages during the discharge process. It is also found that the apertures of mesh electrodes which are below 1 mm have smaller values of CV compared to plate electrodes, indicating more uniform discharge. Finally, polypropylene is treated by mesh-plate DBD for surface modification. The hydrophilicity is significantly improved as the water contact angle decreased by 64°,and the dyeing depth is also enhanced.
文摘In present work, a stepping optimization algorithm is proposed for the geometric optimization of conical fin, and the heat transfer rate of the fin is treated as the objective function in the optimization algorithm. The conical fin is divided into finite elements which have different generatrix slopes, and the geometry of the conical fin is finally determined by ensuring that every divided element can maintain the maximum heat transfer rate. Based on the actual condition of every element of the fin, the heat conduction equation is solved step by step. The present result shows that the optimized conical fin has more heat transfer quantity and higher fin efficiency compared with those of some typical fins. Furthermore, the theoretical feasibility and the error analysis of present optimization algorithm have been performed as well.

文摘In view of the fact that the follow-up search for an optimal topology is affected by deleting a large number of high-relative-density elements. Several typical numerical examples are given to demonstrate this method.
文摘This paper deals with the economically optimized design and sensitivity of two of the most widely used systems in geotechnical engineering: spread footing and retaining wall. Moreover, the parametric performance is investigated in order to examine the effect of relevant variables on the optimum design of the footing and the retaining structure utilizing the proposed method.
