The increasing penetration of second-life battery energy storage systems(SLBESS)in power grids presents substantial challenges to system operation and control due to the heterogeneous characteristics and uncertain degradation patterns of repurposed batteries.This paper presents a novel model-free adaptive voltage controlembedded dung beetle-inspired heuristic optimization algorithmfor optimal SLBESS capacity configuration and power dispatch.To simultaneously address the computational complexity and ensure system stability,this paper develops a comprehensive bilevel optimization framework.At the upper level,a dung beetle optimization algorithmdetermines the optimal SLBESS capacity configuration byminimizing total lifecycle costswhile incorporating the charging/discharging power trajectories derived from the model-free adaptive voltage control strategy.At the lower level,a health-priority power dispatch optimization model intelligently allocates power demands among heterogeneous battery groups based on their real-time operational states,state-of-health variations,and degradation constraints.The proposed model-free approach circumvents the need for complex battery charging/discharging power controlmodels and extensive historical data requirements whilemaintaining system stability through adaptive controlmechanisms.A novel cycle life degradation model is developed to quantify the relationship between remaining useful life,depth of discharge,and operational patterns.The integrated framework enables simultaneous strategic planning and operational control,ensuring both economic efficiency and extended battery lifespan.The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through comprehensive case studies on hybrid energy storage systems,demonstrating superior computational efficiency,robust performance across different network configurations,and significant improvements in battery utilization compared to conventional approaches. 展开更多

In this paper, the containment control problem in nonlinear multi-agent systems(NMASs) under denial-of-service(DoS) attacks is addressed. Firstly, a prediction model is obtained using the broad learning technique to train historical data generated by the system offline without DoS attacks. Secondly, the dynamic linearization method is used to obtain the equivalent linearization model of NMASs. Then, a novel model-free adaptive predictive control(MFAPC) framework based on historical and online data generated by the system is proposed, which combines the trained prediction model with the model-free adaptive control method. The development of the MFAPC method motivates a much simpler robust predictive control solution that is convenient to use in the case of DoS attacks. Meanwhile, the MFAPC algorithm provides a unified predictive framework for solving consensus tracking and containment control problems. The boundedness of the containment error can be proven by using the contraction mapping principle and the mathematical induction method. Finally, the proposed MFAPC is assessed through comparative experiments. 展开更多

In this paper,an asymmetric bipartite consensus problem for the nonlinear multi-agent systems with cooperative and antagonistic interactions is studied under the event-triggered mechanism.For the agents described by a structurally balanced signed digraph,the asymmetric bipartite consensus objective is firstly defined,assigning the agents'output to different signs and module values.Considering with the completely unknown dynamics of the agents,a novel event-triggered model-free adaptive bipartite control protocol is designed based on the agents'triggered outputs and an equivalent compact form data model.By utilizing the Lyapunov analysis method,the threshold of the triggering condition is obtained.Subsequently,the asymptotic convergence of the tracking error is deduced and a sufficient condition is obtained based on the contraction mapping principle.Finally,the simulation example further demonstrates the effectiveness of the protocol. 展开更多

The operating frequency accuracy of the local oscillators is critical for the overall system performance in the communication systems.However,the high-precision oscillators could be too expensive for civil applications.In this paper,we propose a model-free adaptive frequency calibration framework for a voltage-controlled crystal oscillator(VCO)equipped with a time to digital converter(TDC),which can significantly improve the frequency accuracy of the VCO thus calibrated.The idea is to utilize a high-precision TDC to directly measure the VCO period which is then passed to a model-free method for working frequency calibration.One advantage of this method is that the working frequency calibration employs the system history of input/output(I/O)data,instead of establishing an accurate VCO voltagecontrolled oscillator model.Another advantage is the lightweight calibration method with low complexity such that it can be implemented on an MCU with limited computation capabilities.Experimental results show that the proposed calibration method can improve the frequency accuracy of a VCO from±20 ppm to±10 ppb,which indicates the promise of the modelfree adaptive frequency calibrator for VCOs. 展开更多

Due to the release of gravity in the space environment, the dynamic characteristics of the space manipulator have changed compared with that of the ground, which results in the change of its tracking precision. This paper presents a model-free adaptive control(MFAC) strategy to track the desired trajectory under different gravity environment. A dynamic transformation method and full form dynamic linearization(FFDL) approach are selected to dynamicly linearize the system, which can better eliminate the complex dynamics that may exist in the original system. The controlled object uses the two degrees of freedom of space manipulator and the controller only depends on the desired angle and torque of each joint of the space manipulator. Moreover, the proof of stability is also provided. Finally, simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. It is shown that the proposed approach can achieve better trajectory tracking performance under different gravity environment without changing the control parameters, and the tracking precision can be significantly improved as compared with the proportional differential(PD) control results. 展开更多

This paper provides an improved model-free adaptive control(IMFAC)strategy for solving the surface vessel trajectory tracking issue with time delay and restricted disturbance.Firstly,the original nonlinear time-delay system is transformed into a structure consisting of an unknown residual term and a parameter term with control inputs using a local compact form dynamic linearization(local-CFDL).To take advantage of the resulting structure,use a discrete-time extended state observer(DESO)to estimate the unknown residual factor.Then,according to the study,the inclusion of a time delay has no effect on the linearization structure,and an improved control approach is provided,in which DESO is used to adjust for uncertainties.Furthermore,a DESO-based event-triggered model-free adaptive control(ET-DESO-MFAC)is established by designing event-triggered conditions to assure Lyapunov stability.Only when the system’s indicator fulfills the provided event-triggered condition will the control input signal be updated;otherwise,the control input will stay the same as it is at the last trigger moment.A coordinate compensation approach is developed to reduce the steady-state inaccuracy of trajectory tracking.Finally,simulation experiments are used to assess the effectiveness of the proposed technique for trajectory tracking. 展开更多

Then, particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is applied to optimizing and setting the key parameters for controller tuning. After that, the MFA controller is used to control the system of polymerizing temperature. In order to solve the problems of dynamic modeling and complicated parameters identification of trajectory tracking control of the quadrotor,a data driven model-free adaptive control method based on the improved sliding mode control(ISMC)algorithm is designed,which does not depend on the precise dynamic model of the quadrotor.The design of the general sliding mode control(SMC)algorithm depends on the mathematical model of the quadrotor and has chattering problems.In this paper,according to the dynamic characteristics of the quadrotor,an adaptive update law is introduced and a saturation function is used to improve the SMC.The proposed control strategy has an inner and an outer loop control structures.The outer loop position control provides the required reference attitude angle for the inner loop.The inner loop attitude control ensures rapid convergence of the attitude angle.The effectiveness and feasibility of the algorithm are verified by mathematical simulation.The mathematical simulation results show that the designed model-free adaptive control method of the quadrotor is effective,and it can effectively realize the trajectory tracking control of the quadrotor.The design of the controller does not depend on the kinematic and dynamic models of the unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV),and has high control accuracy,stability,and robustness. 展开更多

The development of the adaptive cycle engine is a crucial direction of advanced fighter power sources in the near future.However,this new technology brings more uncertainty to the design of the control system.To address the versatile thrust demand under complex dynamic characteristics of the adaptive cycle engine,this paper proposes a direct thrust estimation and control method based on the Model-Free Adaptive Control(MFAC)algorithm.First,an improved Sliding Mode Control-MFAC(SMC-MFAC)algorithm has been developed by introducing a sliding mode variable structure into the standard Full Format Dynamic Linearization-MFAC(FFDL-MFAC)and designing self-adaptive weight coefficients.Then a trivariate double-loop direct thrust control structure with a controller-based thrust estimator and an outer command compensation loop has been established.Through thrust feedback and command correction,accurate control under multi-mode and operation conditions is achieved.The main contribution of this paper is the improved algorithm that combines the tracking capability of the MFAC and the robustness of the SMC,thus enhancing the dynamic performance.Considering the requirements of the online thrust feedback,the designed MFAC-based thrust estimator significantly speeds up the calculation.Additionally,the proposed command correction module can achieve the adaptive thrust control without affecting the operation of the inner loop.Simulations and Hardware-in-Loop(HIL)experiments have been performed on an adaptive cycle engine component-level model to investigate the estimation and control effect under different modes and health conditions.The results demonstrate that both the thrust estimation precision and operation speed are significantly improved compared with Extended Kalman Filter(EKF).Furthermore,the system can accelerate the response of the controlled plant,reduce the overshoot,and realize the thrust recovery within the safety range when the engine encounters the degradation. 展开更多

To overcome the challenges associated with predicting gas extraction performance and mitigating the gradual decline in extraction volume,which adversely impacts gas utilization efficiency in mines,a gas extraction pure volume prediction model was developed using Support Vector Regression(SVR)and Random Forest(RF),with hyperparameters fine-tuned via the Genetic Algorithm(GA).Building upon this,an adaptive control model for gas extraction negative pressure was formulated to maximize the extracted gas volume within the pipeline network,followed by field validation experiments.Experimental results indicate that the GA-SVR model surpasses comparable models in terms of mean absolute error,root mean square error,and mean absolute percentage error.In the extraction process of bedding boreholes,the influence of negative pressure on gas extraction concentration diminishes over time,yet it remains a critical factor in determining the extracted pure volume.In contrast,throughout the entire extraction period of cross-layer boreholes,both extracted pure volume and concentration exhibit pronounced sensitivity to fluctuations in extraction negative pressure.Field experiments demonstrated that the adaptive controlmodel enhanced the average extracted gas volume by 5.08% in the experimental borehole group compared to the control group during the later extraction stage,with a more pronounced increase of 7.15% in the first 15 days.The research findings offer essential technical support for the efficient utilization and long-term sustainable development of mine gas resources.The research findings offer essential technical support for gas disaster mitigation and the sustained,efficient utilization of mine gas. 展开更多

The control strategy derived from a kind of data-driven control method in essence, thereby the input and output data are utilized by the controller with no information about the control system model. Theoretical analysis proves that this proposed control algorithm can improve the utilization of the estimated pseudo partial derivative information and accelerate the velocity of the convergence. The stability of the control system is further verified by rigorous mathematical analysis. This new discrete-time nonlinear systems model-free control algorithm obtained better control performance through the simulations for the linear motor position and the information tracking speed, which also achieved robust and accurate traceability. 展开更多

This paper presents an improved finite control set model predictive current control(FCS-MPCC)of a five-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM).First,to avoid including all the 32 voltage vectors provided by a two-level five-phase inverter into the control set,virtual voltage vectors are adopted.As the third current harmonics can be much reduced by virtual voltage vectors automatically,the harmonic items in the cost function of conventional FCS-MPCC are not considered.Furthermore,an adaptive control set is proposed based on voltage prediction.Best control set with proper voltage vector amplitude corresponding to different rotor speed can be achieved by this method.Consequently,current ripples can be largely reduced and the system performs much better.At last,simulations are established to verify the steady and transient performance of the proposed FCS-MPCC,and experiments based on a 2 kW five-phase motor are carried out.The results have validated the performance improvement of the proposed control strategy. 展开更多

The performance of data-driven models relies heavily on the amount and quality of training samples, so it might deteriorate significantly in the regions where samples are scarce. The objective of this paper is to develop an online SVR model updating strategy to track the change in the process characteristics efficiently with affordable computational burden. This is achieved by adding a new sample that violates the Karush–Kuhn–Tucker conditions of the existing SVR model and by deleting the old sample that has the maximum distance with respect to the newly added sample in feature space. The benefits offered by such an updating strategy are exploited to develop an adaptive model-based control scheme, where model updating and control task perform alternately.The effectiveness of the adaptive controller is demonstrated by simulation study on a continuous stirred tank reactor. The results reveal that the adaptive MPC scheme outperforms its non-adaptive counterpart for largemagnitude set point changes and variations in process parameters. 展开更多

This paper deals with the vector control, including both the direct vector control(DVC) and the indirect vector control(Id VC),of induction motors. It is well known that the estimation of rotor flux plays a fundamental role in the DVC and the estimation of rotor resistance is vital in the slip compensation of the Id VC. In these estimations, the precision is significantly affected by the motor resistances. Therefore, online estimation of motor resistances is indispensable in practice.For a fast estimation of motor resistances, it is necessary to slow down the convergence rate of the current estimate. On the other hand, for a fast estimation of the rotor flux, it is necessary to speed up its convergence rate. It is very difficult to realize such a trade-off in convergence rates in a full order observer.In this paper, we propose to decouple the current observer from the flux observer so as to realize independent convergence rates. Then, the resistance estimation algorithm is applied to both DVC and Id VC. In particular, in the application to Id VC the flux observer needs not be used, which leads to a simpler structure. Meanwhile, independent convergence rates of current observer and flux observer yield an improved performance. A superior performance in the torque and flux responses in both cases is verified by numerous simulations. 展开更多

This paper studies the challenging problem of model-free adaptive(MFA)security tracking control for nonlinear multi-agent systems(MASs)under mixed denial-of-service(DoS)attacks.First,in contrast to existing results focusing on DoS attacks with one monotonic characteristic only,a more realistic mixed DoS attacks model is constructed,which can describe multiple types of DoS attacks and reflect the real attack strategy.Second,to mitigate the negative effect of mixed DoS attacks on control performance,an effective memory event-triggered mechanism is considered.Compared with existing event-triggered schemes,the developed memory event-triggered scheme utilizes historically triggered data and allows the released data to adjust adaptively using the long-term changes of the system state,which optimizes the utilization of communication resources and withstands the effect of mixed DoS attacks.Further,with the help of a dynamic linearization technique based on memory eventtriggered strategy,a linearized data model of the MASs is first established only depending on input/output information.Then,an improved memory event-triggered MFA security tracking control scheme is developed so that MASs can guarantee the tracking errors of all agents are bounded under mixed DoS attacks.Finally,a simulation example is presented of the designed MFA security tracking control method to illustrate its usefulness and advantages. 展开更多

The start-up current control of the high-speed brushless DC(HS-BLDC) motor is a challenging research topic. To effectively control the start-up current of the sensorless HS-BLDC motor, an adaptive control method is proposed based on the adaptive neural network(ANN)inverse system and the two degrees of freedom(2-DOF) internal model controller(IMC). The HS-BLDC motor is identified by the online least squares support vector machine(OLS-SVM) algorithm to regulate the ANN inverse controller parameters in real time. A pseudo linear system is developed by introducing the constructed real-time inverse system into the original HS-BLDC motor system. Based on the characteristics of the pseudo linear system, an extra closed-loop feedback control strategy based on the 2-DOF IMC is proposed to improve the transient response performance and enhance the stability of the control system. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed control method is effective and perfect start-up current tracking performance is achieved. 展开更多

To improve the ride comfort and safety of a traditional adaptive cruise control(ACC)system when the preceding vehicle changes lanes,it proposes a target vehicle selection algorithm based on the prediction of the lane-changing intention for the preceding vehicle.First,the Next Generation Simulation dataset is used to train a lane-changing intention prediction algorithm based on a sliding window support vector machine,and the lane-changing intention of the preceding vehicle in the current lane is identified by lateral position offset.Second,according to the lane-changing intention and collision threat of the preceding vehicle,the target vehicle selection algorithm is studied under three different conditions:safe lane-changing,dangerous lane-changing,and lane-changing cancellation.Finally,the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified in a co-simulation platform.The simulation results show that the target vehicle selection algorithm can ensure the smooth transfer of the target vehicle and effectively reduce the longitudinal acceleration fluctuation of the subject vehicle when the preceding vehicle changes lanes safely or cancels their lane change maneuver.In the case of a dangerous lane change,the target vehicle selection algorithm proposed in this paper can respond more rapidly to a dangerous lane change than the target vehicle selection method of the traditional ACC system;thus,it can effectively avoid collisions and improve the safety of the subject vehicle. 展开更多
