These issues are addressed by treating Standard Model particles with mass m as spheres with diameter equal to their Compton wavelength l =ħ/mc, where ħis Planck’s constant and c the speed of light, and any charge in diametrically opposed pairs ±ne/6 with n = 1, 2, or 3 at the axis of rotation on the sphere surface. Particles are ground state solutions of quantized Friedmann equations from general relativity, with differing internal gravitational constants. Energy distribution within particles identifies Standard Model particles with spheres containing central black holes with mass m, and particle spin resulting from black hole angular momentum. In each charge state, energy distribution within particles satisfies a cubic equation in l, allowing only three particles in the charge state and requiring neutrino mass. Cosmic vacuum energy density is a lower limit on energy density of systems in the universe, and setting electron neutrino average energy density equal to cosmic vacuum energy density predicts neutrino masses consistent with experiment. Relations between charged fermion wavelength solutions to cubic equations in different charge states determine charged fermion masses relative to electron mass as a consequence of charge neutrality of the universe. An appendix shows assigning charge ±e/6 to bits of information on the event horizon available for holographic description of physics in the observable universe accounts for dominance of matter over anti-matter. The analysis explains why only three Standard Models are in each charge state and predicts neutrino masses based on cosmic vacuum energy density as a lower bound on neutrino energy density.展开更多

Single particle model (SPM) is the simplification of LIB under some approximations, and can estimate the working parameters of a LIB at the faster simulation speed. Nevertheless, a sophisticated model to answer fundamental questions is still missing. Further research is needed to compensate for the existing deficit. The current paper is aimed to contribute to such research by using “harmonic quark series”. Harmonic quark series were introduced between 2003 and 2005 by O. A. Teplov and represented a relatively new approach to understanding the physical masses of elementary particles. Although they are not generally recognized, some research works have revealed very interesting and exciting facts regarding the mass quanta. The original harmonic quark series consists of mathematical “quark” entities with an energy-mass quantum between 7.87 MeV and 69.2 GeV. They obey a strict mathematical rule derived from the general harmonic oscillation theory. Teplov showed some quantitative relations between the masses of his harmonic quarks and the SM particles, especially in the intermediate mass range, i.e. mesons and hadrons up to 1000 MeV. Early research work also includes the investigation of H. Yang/W. Yang in the development of their so-called YY model for elementary particles (Ying-Yang model with “Ying” and “Yang” as quark components for a new theoretical particle framework). Based on Teplov’s scheme and its mathematical formula, they introduced further harmonic quarks down to 1 eV and showed some quantitative relationships between the masses of these harmonic quarks and the masses of electrons and up and down quarks. In this article, we will extend the harmonic quark series according to the Teplov scheme up to a new entity with a mass quantum of 253.4 GeV and show some interesting new mass relations to the heavy particles of the Standard Model (W boson, Z boson, top quark and Higgs boson). Based on these facts, some predictions will be made for experimental verification. We also hope that our investigation and result will motivate more researcher to dedicate their work to harmonic quark series in theory and in experiments.展开更多

Typical SI includes fish schooling, ant foraging, bird migration, and so on. A great deal of models have been introduced to characterize the mechanism of SI. This article reviews several typical models and classifies them into four categories: self-driven particle models, with Boids model as the primary example;pheromone communication models, including the ant colony pheromone model which serves as the foundation for ant colony optimization;leadership decision models, utilizing the hierarchical dynamics model of pigeon flock as a prime instance;empirical research models, which employ the topological rule model of starling flock as a classic model. On this basis, each type of model is elaborated upon in terms of its typical model overview, applications, and model evaluation. More specifically, multi-agent swarm control, path optimization and obstacle avoidance, formation and consensus control, trajectory tracking in the dense crowd and social networks analysis are surveyed in the application of each category, respectively. Furthermore, the more precise and effective modeling techniques for leadership decision and empirical research models are described. Limitations and potential directions for further exploration in the study of SI are presented.展开更多

In addition, each item in the first-order accumulated generating sequence was set in turn as an initial condition to determine which alternative would yield the highest forecasting accuracy. To test the forecasting performance, the optimized models with different initial conditions were then used to simulate dissolved oxygen concentrations in the Guantlng reservoir inlet and outlet (China). The empirical results show that the optimized model can remarkably improve forecasting accuracy, and the particle swarm optimization technique is a good tool to solve parameter optimization problems. What's more, the optimized model with an initial condition that performs well in in-sample simulation may not do as well as in out-of-sample forecasting.展开更多

BPM has been recently extended by the authors to account for coupled convective econductive heat flow and transport, and to enable full hydro-thermal fluidesolid coupled modeling. The application of the work is on enhanced geothermal systems(EGSs), and hydraulic fracturing of hot dry rock(HDR) is studied in terms of the impact of temperature difference between rock and a flowing fracturing fluid. Micro-mechanical investigation of temperature and fracturing fluid effects on hydraulic fracturing damage in rocks is presented. It was found that fracture is shorter with pronounced secondary microcracking along the main fracture for the case when the convectiveeconductive thermal heat exchange is considered. First, the convection heat exchange during low-viscosity fluid infiltration in permeable rock around the wellbore causes significant rock cooling, where a finger-like fluid infiltration was observed. Second, fluid infiltration inhibits pressure rise during pumping and delays fracture initiation and propagation. Additionally, thermal damage occurs in the whole area around the wellbore due to rock cooling and cold fluid infiltration. The size of a damaged area around the wellbore increases with decreasing fluid dynamic viscosity. Fluid and rock compressibility ratio was found to have significant effect on the fracture propagation velocity.展开更多

The particle erosion mathematical model, which considers particle-particle interaction, was established and used to simulate solid particle movement as well as particle erosion characteristics of the solid-liquid two-phase flow in a choke. The corresponding erosion reduction approach by setting ribs on the inner wall of the choke was advanced. This mathematical model includes three parts: the flow field simulation of the continuous carrier fluid by an Eulerian approach, the particle interaction simulation using the discrete particle hard sphere model by a Lagrangian approach and calculation of erosion rate using semiempirical correlations. The results show that particles accumulated in a narrow region from inlet to outlet of the choke and the dominating factor affecting particle motion is the fluid drag force. As a result, the optimization of rib geometrical parameters indicates that good anti-erosion performance can be achieved by four ribs, each of them with a height (H) of 3 mm and a width (B) of 5 mm equaling the interval between ribs (L).展开更多

文摘Determination of the critical state line(CSL)is important to characterize engineering properties of granular soils.Grain size distribution(GSD)has a significant influence on the location of CSL.The influence of particle breakage on the CSL is mainly attributed to the change in GSD due to particle breakage. However,GSD has not been properly considered in modeling the CSL with influence of particle breakage. This study aims to propose a quantitative model to determine the CSL considering the effect of GSD.We hypothesize that the change of critical state void ratio with respect to GSD is caused by the same mechanism that influences of the change of minimum void ratio with respect to GSD.Consequently, the particle packing model for minimum void ratio proposed by Chang et al.(2017)is extended to predict critical state void ratio. The developed model is validated by experimental results of CSLs for several types of granular materials. Then the evolution of GSD due to particle breakage is incorporated into the model. The model is further evaluated using the experimental results on rockfill material, which illustrates the applicability of the model in predicting CSL for granular material with particle breakage.

文摘The stability of coal walls(pillars)can be seriously undermined by diverse in-situ dynamic disturbances.Based on a 3D par-ticle model, this work strives to numerically replicate the major mechanical responses and acoustic emission(AE)behaviors of coal samples under multi-stage compressive cyclic loading with different loading and unloading rates, which is termed differential cyclic loading(DCL).A Weibull-distribution-based model with heterogeneous bond strengths is constructed by both considering the stress-strain relations and AE parameters.Six previously loaded samples were respectively grouped to indicate two DCL regimes, the damage mechanisms for the two groups are explicitly characterized via the time-stress-dependent variation of bond size multiplier, and it is found the two regimes correlate with distinct damage patterns, which involves the competition between stiffness hardening and softening. The numerical b-value is calculated based on the mag-nitudes of AE energy, the results show that both stress level and bond radius multiplier can impact the numerical b-value.The proposed numerical model succeeds in replicating the stress-strain relations of lab data as well as the elastic-after effect in DCL tests. The effect of damping on energy dissipation and phase shift in numerical model is summarized.

文摘Parameter estimation plays a critical role for the application and development of S-shaped growth model in the agricultural sciences and others. In this paper,a modified particle swarm optimization algorithm based on the diffusion phenomenon(DPPSO) was employed to estimate the parameters for this model.Under the sense of least squares, the parameter estimation problem of S-shaped growth model, taking the Gompertz and Logistic models for example,is transformed into a multi-dimensional function optimization problem. The results show that the DPPSO algorithm can effectively estimate the parameters of the S-shaped growth model.

文摘Swarm Intelligence (SI) is a collective behavior that emerges from interaction between individuals in a group. Limitations and potential directions for further exploration in the study of SI are presented.

文摘In order to reveal the influence of forced ventilation on the dispersion of droplets ejected from roadheader-mounted external sprayer, the paper studies the air-flowing field and the droplet distribution under the condition of gentle breeze and normal forced ventilation in heading face using the particle tracking technology of computational fluid dynamics(CFD).The results show that air-flowing tendency in the same section presents great comparability in the period of gentle breeze and forced ventilation, and the difference mainly embodies in the different wind velocity. The influence of ventilation on the dispersion of droplets is faint under the gentle breeze condition. The droplet can be evenly distributed around the cutting head. However, under the normal forced ventilation,a large number of droplets will drift to the return air side.At the same time, droplet clusters are predominantly presented in the lower part of windward side and the middle of the leeward side around the cutting head.In contrast, the droplet concentration in other parts around cutting head decreases a lot and the droplets are unable to form close-grained mist curtain. So the dust escape channel is formed. In addition, the simulation results also reveal that the disturbance of air flow on the droplet distribution can be effectively relieved when using ventilation duct with Coanda effect(VDCE).Field experiment results show that the dust suppression efficiency of total dust and respirable dust increases respectively by 10.5%and 9.3%when using VDCE,which proves that it can weaken the influence of airflow on droplet dispersion.

文摘An optimized nonlinear grey Bernoulli model was proposed by using a particle swarm optimization algorithm to solve the parameter optimization problem. What's more, the optimized model with an initial condition that performs well in in-sample simulation may not do as well as in out-of-sample forecasting.

文摘This paper presents an improved understanding of coupled hydro-thermo-mechanical(HTM) hydraulic fracturing of quasi-brittle rock using the bonded particle model(BPM) within the discrete element method(DEM). Fluid and rock compressibility ratio was found to have significant effect on the fracture propagation velocity.

文摘Bulking characteristics of gangue are of great significance for the stability of goafs in mining overburden in the caving zones. In this paper,a particle discrete element method with clusters to represent gangue was adopted to explore the bulking coefficient time effect of the broken rock in the caving zone under three-dimensional triaxial compression condition. The phenomena of stress corrosion, deformation, and failure of rock blocks were simulated in the numerical model.Meanwhile,a new criterion of rock fragments damage was put forward. It was found that the broken rock has obvious viscoelastic properties.A new equation based on the Burgers creep model was proposed to predict the bulking coefficient of broken rock.A deformation characteristic parameter of the prediction equation was analyzed, which can be set as a fixed value in the mid-and long-term prediction of the bulking coefficient. There are quadratic function relationships between the deformation characteristic parameter value and Talbot gradation index, axial pressure and confining pressure.

文摘Chokes are one of the most important components of downhole flow-control equipment. As a result, the optimization of rib geometrical parameters indicates that good anti-erosion performance can be achieved by four ribs, each of them with a height (H) of 3 mm and a width (B) of 5 mm equaling the interval between ribs (L).

文摘Tunnel excavation is a complicated loading-unloading-reloading process characterized by decreased radial stresses and increased axial stresses. An approach that considers only loading,is generally used in tunnel model testing. However, this approach is incapable of characterizing the unloading effects induced by excavation on surrounding rocks and hence presents radial and tangential stress paths during the failure process that are different from the actual stress state of tunnels. This paper carried out a comparative analysis using laboratory model testing and particle flow code(PFC2D)-based numerical simulation, and shed light upon the crack propagation process and, microscopic stress and force chain variations during the loading-unloading process. The failure mode observed in the unloading model test is shear failure. The force chains are strongly correlated with the concrete fracture propagation. In addition, the change patterns of the radial and tangential stresses of surrounding rocks in the broken region,as well as the influence of the initial stress on failure loads are revealed. The surrounding soil of tunnel failure evolution as well as extent and shape of the damage zone during the excavation-induced unloading were also studied.
