The discovery of new-type ore deposits, an important approach to guarantee the mineral resources supply in the 21st century, often brings about a gigantic increase in the mineral resources reserves. The analysis of mineralization system is of great importance to the discovery of new type ore deposits. ① The understanding of the relationship among various ore deposit types within a mineralization system in a region can help us to locate the unknown ore deposit types from the known ore deposit types, evidence that has been proved in the mineral prospecting history of ore belts in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, China. ② The understanding of the spatial structure of a mineralization system, especially of the vertical zonation, is helpful for the discovery of the concealed ore deposit types. ③ Clarifying the temporal structure of a mineralization system, including the iteration relationship between the mineral deposit types in the mineralization, leads to the location of the missing mineralization chains from the known mineralization chains (mineral deposit type), a method often proved to be effective in the magmatic hydrothermal mineralization system.④ Clarifying the factors restraining the diversity of mineral deposit types in mineralization system leads to the discovery of the potential of new type mineral deposits in relevant region. ⑤ Studying new mineralization setting and new ore forming processes leads to discovery of new type mineral deposit. Deep mineral exploration is increasingly important for finding new mineral resources but there are many uncertainties.Understanding the factors controlling the localization of mineralization at depth can reduce the risk in deep mineral exploration.One of the relatively poorly constrained but important factors is the hydrodynamics of mineralization.This paper reviews the principles of hydrodynamics of mineralization,especially the nature of relationships between mineralization and structures,and their applications to various types of mineralization systems in the context of hydrodynamic linkage between shallow and deep parts of the systems.Three categories of mineralization systems were examined,i.e.,magmatic-hydrothermal systems,structurally controlled hydrothermal systems with uncertain fluid sources,and hydrothermal systems associated with sedimentary basins.The implications for deep mineral exploration,including potentials for new mineral resources at depth,favorable locations for mineralization,as well as uncertainties,are discussed. 展开更多

Amine-based carbon dioxide(CO2)capture is still limited by high desorption energy consumption.Fixing CO2 into carbonate is a safer and more permanent method.In this work,calcium oxide(CaO)is introduced to perform chemical desorption instead of thermal desorption on 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene(DBU)aqueous solution after CO2 absorption.The X-ray diffraction(XRD)patterns of solid products show the formation of calcite calcium carbonate(CaCO3),which prove the feasibility of this method.The effects of reaction temperature,reaction time and Ca2+/CO32-molar ratios on the related reactions in CO2 absorption-mineralization process and CaCO3 precipitation are discussed,and purer CaCO3 is obtained by ultrasonic treatment.The CaCO3 content can be increased to 95.8%and the CO2 desorption ratio can achieve 80%by 30 min ultrasonic dispersion treatment under the conditions(40℃,180 min,Ca2+/CO32-molar ratio=1.0).After five cycles,DBU aqueous solution shows stable CO2 absorption and mineralization ability.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR)spectra of the reaction process also indicate the regeneration of the solvent.Compared with thermal desorption,this process is exothermic,almost without no additional heat. 展开更多

The Shwebontha prospect area is situated in the Central Volcanic Belt,central Myanmar,where the well-known Sagaing Fault serves as its eastern boundary.This study aims to document key the mineralogy,host rock geochemistry and ore mineralizing fluids.The mineralization,hosted by Upper Oligocene to Middle Miocene rhyolites,displays a strong lithological control.Mineralization is characterized by gold-bearing silicified massive ore and chalcedonic quartz veins in which sulfides are clustered and disseminated not only in quartz gangue but also in rhyolite host rocks.The significant ore minerals in the mineralized veins include pyrite,sphalerite,galena,chalcopyrite,and gold.Common hydrothermal alterations such as silicic,argillic and propylitic alteration types are recognized.According to the fluid inclusion data and interpretation,ore mineralizing fluids in the research area are characterized by formation temperatures of 260-280℃ and salinity of 0.35-2.41%wt.NaCl eq.respectively.Mixing of hydrothermal fluids was generally considered to be an effective mechanism for ore transport and deposition. 展开更多

The links between the adakitic rocks and Cu-Au mineralization have long been argued.This study investigates petrogenesis and its link to mineralization potential by a series of in-situ geochronological and geochemical signatures of apatite and zircon in three ore-related intrusions and one-barren intrusion in the Middle-Lower Yangtze River Metallogenic Belt(MLYRB).Zircon U-Pb dating yield ages of 139–143 Ma and 121 Ma for the ore-related and ore-barren intrusions,respectively.The ore-related rocks have higher apatite Sr/Y(1.57–9.69),(La/Yb)_(N)(16.7–159.5),andδEu(0.45–0.74)than the ore-barren rocks of 0.57–1.02,19.3–24.1 and 0.40–0.45,respectively,indicating the former has an adakitic affinity,while the latter has a non-adakitic affinity.The ore-related rocks have enriched zircon Hf isotopes withε_(Hf)(t)values of-15.9 to-5.5 and T_(DMC)ages of 2408–1655 Ma and apatite Sr-Nd isotopes,indicating that the ore-related magmas were mainly originated from partial melting of subducted oceanic crust.The orebarren rocks have higherε_(Hf)(t)values of-6.6 to-4.6 and lower T_(DMC)ages of 1598–1469 Ma and apatite Sr-Nd isotopes,indicating a lithospheric mantle source.The ore-related rocks have higher oxygen fugacity of mean∆FMQ+2.00 and X_(F)/X_(OH)of 8.36–175 than the ore-barren rocks of mean∆FMQ+1.43 and3.72–4.96.It was inferred that magma source,water content,and oxygen fugacity emerge as critical factors governing the regional Cu-Au mineralization potential. 展开更多

Recent studies have confirmed the critical and essential role of elemental hydrolysis in metallogenic processes,such as metal migration and precipitation.However,the kinetic processes,characteristics,and formation mechanisms of hydrolyzed precipitates require further comprehensive investigation.This paper is based on a systematic investigation of the hydrolysis mechanisms of Pb and Zn in various systems under ambient temperature and pressure,the storage conditions of the hydrolyzed precipitates,and the characterization of these precipitates.The results indicate that the hydrolysis behaviors of Pb and Zn exhibit significant differences across various systems.Within the monometallic regime,there is a pronounced disparity in the hydrolysis rates between Pb ions and Zn ions.Pb ions demonstrate a substantially higher degree of hydrolysis,a trend that persists over time and remains largely unaffected by the fluid retention or isolation"phenomenon in the surrounding environment.Both hydrolytic precipitation rates were observed to decrease in the mixed system,with Zn ions exhibiting less reduction than Pb ions.After hydrolysis,hydrolyzed precipitates can remain in the fluid environment for extended periods of time,which can lead to re-dissolution.Over time,this re-dissolution can increase,eventually leading to significant loss of hydrolyzed precipitates.The hydrolyzed precipitates obtained from the experiments primarily consisted of alkaline carbonates of Pb and Zn.Notably,the crystalline characteristics of the hydrolysis products of Pb and Zn ions exhibited significant differences across various experimental systems;however,the crystallographic characteristics of the primary hydrolysis products are essentially identical to those of their corresponding natural counterparts.Based on the findings from physical phase analysis and previous research,it is concluded that the hydrolysis process consists of three main stages:oxides/hydroxides,carbonates,and alkali carbonates.In the Pb-Zn-NaCl-H_(2)O system,the proportion of the basic carbonate products of Pb and Zn is 6:2.This research offers an in-depth analysis of the hydrolysis dynamics of lead and zinc under ambient temperature and pressure conditions.Furthermore,it characterizes the crystallization features of the hydrolyzed precipitates and reconstructs the three stages of the formation process.This study holds significant scientific value for understanding the metallogenic mechanisms of Pb and Zn. 展开更多

Long-term manure amendment enhances N_(2)O emissions from acidic soil by alleviating acidification and increasing nitrogen mineralization

Long-term manure application has the potential to alleviate soil acidification, and increase carbon sequestration and nutrient availability, thus improving cropland fertility. However, the mechanisms behind greenhouse gas N_(2)O emissions from acidic soil mediated by long-term manure application remain poorly understood. Herein, we investigated N_(2)O emission and its linkage with gross N mineralization and nitrification rates, as well as nitrifying and denitrifying microbes in an acidic upland soil subjected to 36-year fertilization treatments, including an unfertilized control(CK), inorganic fertilizer(F), 2× rate of inorganic fertilizer(2F), manure(M), and the combination of inorganic fertilizer and manure(FM) treatments. Compared to the CK treatment(1.34 μg N kg^(-1) d^(-1)), fertilization strongly increased N_(2)O emissions by 34-fold on average, with more pronounced increases in the manure-amendment(10.6-169 μg N kg^(-1) d^(-1)) than those in the inorganic fertilizer treatments(3.26-5.51 μg N kg^(-1) d^(-1)). The manure amendment-stimulated N_(2)O emissions were highly associated with increased soil pH, mean weight diameter of soil aggregates, substrate availability(e.g., particulate organic carbon, NO_(3)^(-)and available phosphorus), gross N mineralization rates, denitrifier abundances and the(nirK+nirS)/nosZ ratio. These findings suggest that the increased N_(2)O emissions primarily resulted from alleviated acidification, increased substrate availability and improved soil structure, thus enhancing microbial N mineralization and favoring N_(2)O^(-)producing denitrifiers over N_(2)O consumers. Moreover, ammonia-oxidizing bacteria(AOB) rather than ammonia-oxidizing archaea(AOA) positively correlated with soil NO_(3)^(-)concentration and N_(2)O emissions, indicating that nitrification indirectly contributed to N_(2)O production by supplying NO_(3)^(-)for denitrification. Collectively, manure amendment potentially stimulates N_(2)O emissions, primarily resulting from alleviated soil acidification and increased substrate availability, thus enhancing N mineralization and denitrifier-mediated N_(2)O production. Our findings suggest that consideration should be given to the greenhouse gas budgets of agricultural ecosystems when applying manure for managing the pH and fertility of acidic soils. 展开更多

Epithermal deposits are characterized by complex low-temperature hydrothermal alterations, but the links between mineralization and superimposed alteration are obscure and require further elucidation. This study employs shortwave infrared(SWIR) spectral scalars for alteration mineral mapping and three-dimensional modeling of the Ulan Uzhur Ag polymetallic deposit, a newly discovered epithermal deposit in the Qimantagh. Alteration zoning transitions from illitemuscovite-carbonate-pyrite in the core(Zone Ⅰ), through muscovite ± illite-kaolinite-chlorite-carbonate(Zone Ⅱ), to muscovite-chlorite-biotite(Zone Ⅲ) at the periphery. The Zone Ⅰ with mineralization features long-wavelength white mica(wAlOH > 2207 nm) with a high Illite Crystallinity(IC)(mean > 2.0), suggesting a relatively high-temperature environment conducive to mineralization. Petrographic analyses with fluid inclusion and IC curve characteristics suggests that fluid boiling may be a pivotal mechanism for mineral precipitation. Furthermore, surface mapping and deep threedimensional modeling of spectral characteristics reveal a correlation between long-wavelength white mica, high IC and mineralization zones. These findings indicate that SWIR spectroscopy reveal the evolution of fluids and provide valuable guidance for future exploration efforts. 展开更多

A comparative study was conducted to determine the NH4+ and NO3- concentrations in soil profiles and to examine the net nitrogen (N) mineralization and nitrification in adjacent forest, grassland, and cropland soils on the Tibetan Plateau. Cropland soil showed significantly higher inorganic N concentrations in soil profiles compared with forest and grassland soils. NO3- -N accounted for 70%–90% of inorganic N in cropland soil, while NH4+ -N was the main form of inorganic N in forest and grassland soils. The average net N mineralization rate at 0–20 cm depth was approximately twice in cropland soil (1.48 mg kg-1 d-1) as high as in forest (0.83 mg kg-1 d-1) or grassland soil (0.72 mg kg-1 d-1). Cropland showed strong net nitrification, with the net rate almost equal to the total net N mineralization. Urea addition stimulated soil respiration, particularly in forest soil. Most urea-N, however, remained as NH4+ in forest and grassland soils, while NO3- was the main form of inorganic N to increase in cropland soil. Higher rates of net nitrification in cropland soils suggest that land use change on the Tibetan Plateau may lead to high N losses through nitrate leaching. 展开更多

The regional metallogeny is discussed, and the ore-forming fluid systems are classified in this article. It is proposed that the fluid ore-forming activities in the Jiangnan Uplift both in northern Jiangxi and southern Anhui have close relationships with the crust-mantle interaction and magmatic-tectonic activities. The Wurinitu Mo deposit is one of the newly found molybdenum deposits in the southwestern part of the late Paleozoic–Mesozoic Erenhot–Dong-Ujimqin metallogenic belt(S-EDMB),Inner Mongolia,China.In the present study,the mineralization age of the Wurinitu deposit is constrained to 137.3±1.3 to 131.9±1.5 Ma based on a combination of the laser ablation–inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry(LA–ICP–MS)zircon U–Pb dating of the mineralization related fine-grained monzonitic granite and the post-mineralization granite porphyry.The results of zircon Lu–Hf isotopes,combined with the geochemical characteristics of the granites in the S-EDMB,suggest that the Wurinitu Mo deposit was formed in an extensional environment in relation to the subduction of the Paleo-Pacific plate in late Mesozoic.The Wurinitu deposit shares similarities with the classical Climax-type porphyry molybdenum deposits in tectonic setting,mineral assemblages,and metal zonation. 展开更多

Temperature dependence of nitrogen mineralization and microbial status in O_H horizon of a temperate forest ecosystem 被引量:2

It was hypothesized that increasing air and/or soil temperature would increase rates of microbial processes including litter decomposition and net N mineralization, resulting in greater sequestration of carbon and nitrogen in humus, and consequently development in OH horizon (humus horizon). To quantify the effect of temperature on biochemical processes controlling the rate of OH layer development three adjacent forest floors under beech, Norway spruce and mixed species stands were investigated at Soiling forest, Germany by an incubation experiment of OH layer for three months. Comparing the fitted curves for temperature sensitivity of OH layers in relation to net N mineralization revealed positive correlation across all sites. For the whole data set of all stands, a Q10 (temperature sensitivity index) value of 2.35-2.44 dependent on the measured units was found to be adequate for describing the temperature dependency of net N mineralization at experimental site. Species-specific differences of substrate quality did not result in changes in biochemical properties of OH horizon of the forest floors. Temperature elevation increased net N mineralization without significant changes in microbial status in the range of I to 15℃. A low Cmic /Corg (microbial carbon/organic carbon) ratio at 20℃ indicated that the resource availability for decomposers has been restricted as reflected in significant decrease of microbial biomass. 展开更多

In order to understand the effects of increasing atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition on the subtropical bamboo ecosystem, a nearly six-year field experiment was conducted in a Pleioblastus amarus plantation in the rainy region of SW China, near the western edge of Sichuan Basin. Four N treatment levels---control (no N added), low- N (50 kg N ha-1 a-l), medium-N (150 kg N ha-1 a-l), and high-N (300 kg N ha-1 a-1)--were applied monthly in the P. amarus plantation starting in November 2007. In June 2012, we collected intact soil cores in the bamboo plantation and conducted a 30-day laboratory incubation experiment. The results showed that the soil N net miner- alization rate was 0.96 4- 0.10 mg N kg-1 day-1, under control treatment. N additions stimulated the soil N net mineralization, and the high-N treatment significantly increased the soil N net mineralization rate compared with the control. Moreover, the soil N net mineralization rate was significantly and positively correlated with the fine root biomass, the soil microbial biomass nitrogen content and the soil initial inorganic N content, respectively,whereas it was negatively correlated with the soil pH value. There were no significant relationships between the soil N net mineralization rate and the soil total nitrogen (TN) content and the soil total organic carbon content and the soil C/N ratio and the soil microbial biomass carbon con- tent, respectively. These results suggest that N additions would improve the mineral N availability in the topsoil of the P. amarus plantation through the effects of N additions on soil chemical and physical characteristics and fine-root biomass. 展开更多

Proterozoic orogens commonly host a range of hydrothermal ores that form in diverse tectonic settings at different times. However, the link between mineralization and the regional-scale tectonothermal evolution of orogens is usually not well understood, especially in areas subject to multiple hydrothermal events.Regional-scale drivers for mineral systems vary between the different classes of hydrothermal ore, but all involve an energy source and a fluid pathway to focus mineralizing fluids into the upper crust. The Mount Olympus gold deposit in the Proterozoic Capricorn Orogen of Western Australia, was regarded as an orogenic gold deposit that formed at ca. 1738 Ma during the assembly of Proterozoic Australia. However,the trace element chemistry of the pyrite crystals closely resembles those of the Carlin deposits of Nevada,with rims that display solid solution gold accompanied by elevated As, Cu, Sb, Hg, and Tl, surrounding gold-poor cores. New SHRIMP UeP b dating of xenotime intergrown with auriferous pyrite and ore-stage alteration minerals provided a weighted mean^(207) Pb*/^(206) Pb* date of 1769 ± 5 Ma, interpreted as the age of gold mineralization. This was followed by two discrete episodes of hydrothermal alteration at 1727 ± 7 Ma and 1673 ± 8 Ma. The three ages are linked to multiple reactivation of the crustal-scale Nanjilgardy Fault during repeated episodes of intracratonic reworking. The regional-scale drivers for Carlin-like gold mineralization at Mount Olympus are related to a change in tectonic regime during the final stages of the intracratonic 1820 -1770 Ma Capricorn Orogeny. Our results suggest that substantial sized Carlin-like gold deposits can form in an intracratonic setting during regional-scale crustal reworking. 展开更多

The clinical application of magnesium(Mg)and its alloys for bone fractures has been well supported by in vitro and in vivo trials.However,there were studies indicating negative effects of high dose Mg intake and sustained local release of Mg ions on bone metabolism or repair,which should not be ignored when developing Mg-based implants.Thus,it remains necessary to assess the biological effects of Mg implants in animal models relevant to clinical treatment modalities.The primary purpose of this study was to validate the beneficial effects of intramedullary Mg implants on the healing outcome of femoral fractures in a modified rat model.In addition,the mineralization parameters at multiple anatomical sites were evaluated,to investigate their association with healing outcome and potential clinical applications.Compared to the control group without Mg implantation,postoperative imaging at week 12 demonstrated better healing outcomes in the Mg group,with more stable unions in 3D analysis and high-mineralized bridging in 2D evaluation.The bone tissue mineral density(TMD)was higher in the Mg group at the non-operated femur and lumbar vertebra,while no differences between groups were identified regarding the bone tissue volume(TV),TMD and bone mineral content(BMC)in humerus.In the surgical femur,the Mg group presented higher TMD,but lower TV and BMC in the distal metaphyseal region,as well as reduced BMC at the osteotomy site.Principal component analysis(PCA)-based machine learning revealed that by selecting clinically relevant parameters,radiological markers could be constructed for differentiation of healing outcomes,with better performance than 2D scoring.The study provides insights and preclinical evidence for the rational investigation of bioactive materials,the identification of potential adverse effects,and the promotion of diagnostic capabilities for fracture healing. 展开更多

A process-based, biological model is presented that simulates soil nitrogen (N) mineralization and nitrification in two northern hardwood forest ecosystems in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The soil system is divided into two compartments (forest floor and mineral soil) since quantity and quality of the organic substrate, and the important driving variables (temperature and moisture) for the model vary between these two compartments. The model focuses on the central position of microorganisms in the N mineralization and nitrification processes, and the use of multiplicative factors to account for the effect of temperature, moisture and carbon(C):N ratio on these processes.The model has been validated with data from two northern hardwood stands in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. A close agreement between calculated and observed monthly means was obtained in both stands, especially for net N mineralization, which plays a very impormnt role in determining available N. The nitrification rates had relatively larger variation than the N mineralization rates, but the model adequately described the seasonal trends of the observed values. A simple sensitivity analysiwas performed to assess the response of the model to changes in important variables (temperature, moisture, organic N, and C:N ratio) between the two study sites. This analysis showed that increased temperature and higher organic N levels consistently increased N mineralization and nitrification in the both stands. The model's results were most sensitive to moisture changes in forest floor, but were not sensitive to moisture changes in the mineral soil. In contrast, C:N ratio was influential in the mineral soil, but did not have any effect in the forest floor. 展开更多

CO_(2) mineralization plays a critical role in the storage and utilization of CO_(2).Coal fly ash(CFA)and red mud(RM)are widely utilized as CO_(2) mineralizers.However,the inert calcium species in CFA limit its carbonation capacity,meanwhile the substantial Ca^(2+)releasing of RM is hindered by a covering layer of calcium carbonate.In this study,CO_(2) mineralization in a composite system of CFA and RM was investigated to enhance the carbonation capacity.Multiple analyzers were employed to characterize the raw materials and resulting mineralization products.The results demonstrated that a synergistic effect existed in the composite system of CFA and RM,resulting in improving CO_(2) mineralization rate and efficiency.The produced calcium carbonate was ectopically attached the surface of CFA in the composite system,thus slowing down its coverage on the surface of RM.This phenomenon facilitated further releasing Ca^(2+)from the internal RM,thereby enhancing CO_(2) mineralization efficiency.Meanwhile,the inclusion of RM significantly improved the alkalinity of the composite system,which not only promoted the dissolution of Ca^(2+)of the inert CaSO_(4)(H_(2)O)_(2) in CFA,but also accelerated CO_(2) mineralization rate.The investigation would be beneficial to CO_(2) mineralization using industrial solid wastes. 展开更多

There is much anthraxolite in reef limestone and ore-bodies. The anthraxolite is the postmature result of oil-gas' thermal metamorphism. The close relationship of anthraxolite and Sn-polymetal deposit reveals the space-time relation between oil-gas evolution and Sn-polymetal mineralization. Sulfur isotope of Longtoushan deposit is close to oil's sulfur in Devonian, which indicates obvious relationship between the sulfur's source of deposit and oil-gas' activity. The forming of Longtoushan deposit relates to exhalative-sedimentary mineralization in Devonian. Because of the favorable hydrocarbon-forming condition of Longtoushan reef and surrounding basin facies' black shale and peat, coupling of ore-formation and hydrocarbon-forming occurs in seabed's hydrothermal convection. The distributing of ore-forming elements indicates the presence of hydrothermal convection system. The thermal fluid containing organic matters conduces to Sn-polymetal elements' activation and transfer, and provides catalyzing condition to the transforming from SO42- to S2-. The erosion action of brine containing organic acid to reef limestone induces the growing of crannies and karst's caverns, which provides advantageous space to Sn-polymetal mineralization. The heat source of mineralization provides thermocatalysis condition to hydrocarbon-forming. When the circulatory fluid containing oil-gas enters the high-temperature region(>150 ℃ ), the oil-gas is decomposed and anthraxolite comes into being. 展开更多
