This paper proposes a new two-stream approximation of the RTE with the development of the phase function and the intensity into a third-order series of Legendre polynomials. This new approach, which adds one more term in the expression of the intensity and the phase function, allows in the conditions of a plane parallel atmosphere a new mathematical formulation of γparameters. It is then compared to the Eddington, Hemispheric Constant, Quadrature, Combined Delta Function and Modified Eddington, and second-order approximation methods with reference to the Discrete Ordinate(Disort) method(δ –128 streams), considered as the most precise. This work also determines the conversion function of the proposed New Method using the fundamental definition of two-stream approximation(F-TSA) developed in a previous work. Notably,New Method has generally better precision compared to the second-order approximation and Hemispheric Constant methods. Compared to the Quadrature and Eddington methods, New Method shows very good precision for wide domains of the zenith angle μ 0, but tends to deviate from the Disort method with the zenith angle, especially for high values of optical thickness. In spite of this divergence in reflectance for high values of optical thickness, very strong correlation with the Disort method(R ≈ 1) was obtained for most cases of optical thickness in this study. An analysis of the Legendre polynomial series for simple functions shows that the high precision is due to the fact that the approximated functions ameliorate the accuracy when the order of approximation increases, although it has been proven that there is a limit order depending on the function from which the precision is lost. This observation indicates that increasing the order of approximation of the phase function of the RTE leads to a better precision in flux calculations. However, this approach may be limited to a certain order that has not been studied in this paper.展开更多

Therefore, this theory is not adapted for slender glulam beam columns made of tropical hardwood species from the Congo Basin. This maximum deflection is caused by a set of loads applied to the structure. However, Eurocode 5 doesn’t provide how to predict this deflection in case of long-term load for such structures. This can be done by studying load-displacement (P-Δ) behaviour of these structures while taking into account second order effects. To reach this goal, a nonlinear analysis has been performed on a three-dimensional beam column embedded on both ends. Since conducting experimental investigations on large span structural products is time-consuming and expensive especially in developing countries, a numerical model has been implemented using the Newton-Raphson method to predict load-displacement (P-Δ) curve on a slender glulam beam column made of tropical hardwood species. On one hand, the beam has been analyzed without wood connection. On the other hand, the beam has been analyzed with a bolted wood connection and a slotted-in steel plate. The load cases considered include self-weight and a uniformly applied long-term load. Combinations of serviceability limit states (SLS) and ultimate limit states (ULS) have also been considered, among other factors. A finite-element software RFEM 5 has been used to implement the model. The results showed that the use of steel can reduce displacement by 20.96%. Additionally, compared to the maximum deflection provided by Eurocode 5 for softwoods, hardwoods can exhibit an increasing rate of 85.63%. By harnessing the plastic resistance of steel, the bending resistance of wood can be increased by 32.94%.展开更多

文摘To analyze the differences in the transport and distribution of different types of proppants and to address issues such as the short effective support of proppant and poor placement in hydraulically intersecting fractures, this study considered the combined impact of geological-engineering factors on conductivity.Using reservoir production parameters and the discrete elementmethod, multispherical proppants were constructed.Additionally,a 3D fracture model, based on the specified conditions of the L block, employed coupled(Computational Fluid Dynamics)CFD-DEM(Discrete ElementMethod)for joint simulations to quantitatively analyze the transport and placement patterns of multispherical proppants in intersecting fractures. Results indicate that turbulent kinetic energy is an intrinsic factor affecting proppant transport. Moreover, the efficiency of placement and migration distance of low-sphericity quartz sand constructed by the DEM in the main fracture are significantly reduced compared to spherical ceramic proppants, with a 27.7%decrease in the volume fraction of the fracture surface, subsequently affecting the placement concentration and damaging fracture conductivity.Compared to small-angle fractures, controlling artificial and natural fractures to expand at angles of 45°to 60°increases the effective support length by approximately 20.6%.During hydraulic fracturing of gas wells, ensuring the fracture support area and post-closure conductivity can be achieved by controlling the sphericity of proppants and adjusting the perforation direction to control the direction of artificial fractures.
文摘Marine structures are frequently subjected to repeated impact loadings, resulting in failure of the structures, even causing serious accidents. The analytical expressions of dimensionless permanent deflection and impact force of a metal beam based on maximal normal yield surface are derived by membrane factor method(MFM),then the results are compared with repeated impact tests. It can be found that the solutions based on MFM are between the upper and lower bounds, and very close to the results of the repeated impact tests, indicating the theoretical model proposed can predict the plastic responses of the metal beam accurately. What’s more, the influences of impact location and boundary condition on the dynamic responses of the beam subjected to repeated impacts are determined. Results show that,as the distance of impact location from the middle span of the beam increases, the permanent deflection decreases, while the impact force increases.Meanwhile, the influences of impact location enhance as the impact number increases. When the permanent deflection is smaller than the thickness, the effect of boundary condition on the plastic responses is significant. However, when the deflection is larger than the thickness, the beam will be like a string and only axial force works, resulting in little influence of boundary condition on the plastic responses of the beam.

文摘Elastic beams resting on an elastic foundation are frequently encountered in civil, mechanical, aeronautical, and other engineering disciplines, and the analysis of static and dynamic deflections is one of the essential requirements related to various applications. The Galerkin method is a classical mathematical method for solving differential equations without a closed-form solution with a wide range of applications in engineering and scientific fields. In this study,a demonstration is presented to solve the nonlinear differential equation by transforming it into a series of nonlinear algebraic equations with the Galerkin method for asymptotic solutions in series, and the nonlinear deformation of beams resting on the nonlinear foundation is successfully solved as an example. The approximate solutions based on trigonometric functions are utilized, and the nonlinear algebraic equations are solved both numerically and iteratively.Although widely used in linear problems,it is worth reminding that the Galerkin method also provides an effective approach in dealing with increasingly complex nonlinear equations in practical applications with the aid of powerful tools for symbolic manipulation of nonlinear algebraic equations.

文摘This study proposes an effective method to enhance the accuracy of the Differential Quadrature Method(DQM)for calculating the dynamic characteristics of functionally graded beams by improving the form of discrete node distribution.Firstly, based on the first-order shear deformation theory, the governing equation of free vibration of a functionally graded beam is transformed into the eigenvalue problem of ordinary differential equations with respect to beam axial displacement, transverse displacement, and cross-sectional rotation angle by considering the effects of shear deformation and rotational inertia of the beam cross-section.Then,ignoring the shear deformation of the beam section and only considering the effect of the rotational inertia of the section, the governing equation of the beam is transformed into the eigenvalue problem of ordinary differential equations with respect to beam transverse displacement.Based on the differential quadrature method theory, the eigenvalue problem of ordinary differential equations is transformed into the eigenvalue problem of standard generalized algebraic equations. Finally, the first several natural frequencies of the beam can be calculated. The feasibility and accuracy of the improved DQM are verified using the finite element method(FEM)and combined with the results of relevant literature.
文摘This study presents the Chebyshev polynomials-based Ritz method to examine the thermal buckling and free vibration characteristics of metal foam beams. The analyses include three models for porosity distribution and two scenarios for thermal distribution. The material properties are assessed under two conditions,i.e.,temperature dependence and temperature independence. The theoretical framework for the beams is based on the higher-order shear deformation theory, which incorporates shear deformations with higher-order polynomials. The governing equations are established from the Lagrange equations, and the beam displacement fields are approximated by the Chebyshev polynomials.Numerical simulations are performed to evaluate the effects of thermal load, slenderness, boundary condition(BC),and porosity distribution on the buckling and vibration behaviors of metal foam beams. The findings highlight the significant influence of temperature-dependent(TD)material properties on metal foam beams'buckling and vibration responses.
文摘This study investigated the physicochemical properties, enzyme activities, volatile flavor components, microbial communities, and sensory evaluation of high-temperature Daqu(HTD)during the maturation process, and a standard system was established for comprehensive quality evaluation of HTD.There were obvious changes in the physicochemical properties, enzyme activities, and volatile flavor components at different storage periods, which affected the sensory evaluation of HTD to a certain extent. The results of high-throughput sequencing revealed significant microbial diversity, and showed that the bacterial community changed significantly more than did the fungal community.During the storage process, the dominant bacterial genera were Kroppenstedtia and Thermoascus. The correlation between dominant microorganisms and quality indicators highlighted their role in HTD quality.Lactococcus,Candida,Pichia,Paecilomyces, and protease activity played a crucial role in the formation of isovaleraldehyde.Acidic protease activity had the greatest impact on the microbial community.Moisture promoted isobutyric acid generation.Furthermore, the comprehensive quality evaluation standard system was established by the entropy weight method combined with multi-factor fuzzy mathematics.Consequently, this study provides innovative insights for comprehensive quality evaluation of HTD during storage and establishes a groundwork for scientific and rational storage of HTD and quality control of sauce-flavor Baijiu.

文摘Due to the heterogeneity of rock masses and the variability of in situ stress, the traditional linear inversion method is insufficiently accurate to achieve high accuracy of the in situ stress field. To address this challenge, nonlinear stress boundaries for a numerical model are determined through regression analysis of a series of nonlinear coefficient matrices, which are derived from the bubbling method.Considering the randomness and flexibility of the bubbling method,a parametric study is conducted to determine recommended ranges for these parameters, including the standard deviation(σb)of bubble radii, the non-uniform coefficient matrix number(λ)for nonlinear stress boundaries, and the number(m)and positions of in situ stress measurement points.A model case study provides a reference for the selection of these parameters.Additionally, when the nonlinear in situ stress inversion method is employed, stress distortion inevitably occurs near model boundaries, aligning with the Saint Venant's principle. Two strategies are proposed accordingly:employing a systematic reduction of nonlinear coefficients to achieve high inversion accuracy while minimizing significant stress distortion, and excluding regions with severe stress distortion near the model edges while utilizing the central part of the model for subsequent simulations. These two strategies have been successfully implemented in the nonlinear in situ stress inversion of the Xincheng Gold Mine and have achieved higher inversion accuracy than the linear method.Specifically, the linear and nonlinear inversion methods yield root mean square errors(RMSE)of 4.15 and 3.2,and inversion relative errors(δAve)of 22.08%and 17.55%,respectively.Therefore,the nonlinear inversion method outperforms the traditional multiple linear regression method, even in the presence of a systematic reduction in the nonlinear stress boundaries.

文摘Functionally graded materials(FGMs)are a novel class of composite materials that have attracted significant attention in the field of engineering due to their unique mechanical properties. This study aims to explore the dynamic behaviors of an FGM stepped beam with different boundary conditions based on an efficient solving method.Under the assumptions of the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, the governing differential equations of an individual FGM beam are derived with Hamilton’s principle and decoupled via the separation-of-variable approach. Then, the free and forced vibrations of the FGM stepped beam are solved with the transfer matrix method(TMM).Two models,i.e.,a three-level FGM stepped beam and a five-level FGM stepped beam, are considered, and their natural frequencies and mode shapes are presented. To demonstrate the validity of the method in this paper, the simulation results by ABAQUS are also given. On this basis, the detailed parametric analyses on the frequencies and dynamic responses of the three-level FGM stepped beam are carried out.The results show the accuracy and efficiency of the TMM.
文摘Mathematical modeling of the interaction between solar radiation and the Earth's atmosphere is formalized by the radiative transfer equation(RTE), whose resolution calls for two-stream approximations among other methods. However, this approach may be limited to a certain order that has not been studied in this paper.

文摘The separation-of-variable(SOV)methods,such as the improved SOV method, the variational SOV method, and the extended SOV method, have been proposed by the present authors and coworkers to obtain the closed-form analytical solutions for free vibration and eigenbuckling of rectangular plates and circular cylindrical shells.By taking the free vibration of rectangular thin plates as an example, this work presents the theoretical framework of the SOV methods in an instructive way,and the bisection–based solution procedures for a group of nonlinear eigenvalue equations.Besides, the explicit equations of nodal lines of the SOV methods are presented, and the relations of nodal line patterns and frequency orders are investigated. It is concluded that the highly accurate SOV methods have the same accuracy for all frequencies, the mode shapes about repeated frequencies can also be precisely captured, and the SOV methods do not have the problem of missing roots as well.

文摘Soil improvement is one of the most important issues in geotechnical engineering practice. The wide application of traditional improvement techniques(cement/chemical materials)are limited due to damage ecological en-vironment and intensify carbon emissions. However, the use of microbially induced calcium carbonate pre-cipitation(MICP)to obtain bio-cement is a novel technique with the potential to induce soil stability, providing a low-carbon,environment-friendly,and sustainable integrated solution for some geotechnical engineering pro-blems in the environment. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the latest progress in soil improvement based on the MICP strategy. It systematically summarizes and overviews the mineralization mechanism,influ-encing factors, improved methods, engineering characteristics, and current field application status of the MICP.Additionally,it also explores the limitations and correspondingly proposes prospective applications via the MICP approach for soil improvement. This review indicates that the utilization of different environmental calcium-based wastes in MICP and combination of materials and MICP are conducive to meeting engineering and market demand.Furthermore,we recommend and encourage global collaborative study and practice with a view to commercializing MICP technique in the future. The current review purports to provide insights for engineers and interdisciplinary researchers, and guidance for future engineering applications.
文摘The current theory in NF EN 1995-1-1/NA of Eurocode 5, which is based on maximum deflection, has been investigated on softwoods. By harnessing the plastic resistance of steel, the bending resistance of wood can be increased by 32.94%.
