However, avatar tasks include a multitude of human-to-avatar and avatar-to-avatar interactive applications, e.g., augmented reality navigation, which consumes intensive computing resources. It is inefficient and impractical for vehicles to process avatar tasks locally. Fortunately, migrating avatar tasks to the nearest roadside units(RSU)or unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV) for execution is a promising solution to decrease computation overhead and reduce task processing latency, while the high mobility of vehicles brings challenges for vehicles to independently perform avatar migration decisions depending on current and future vehicle status. To address these challenges, in this paper, we propose a novel avatar task migration system based on multi-agent deep reinforcement learning(MADRL) to execute immersive vehicular avatar tasks dynamically. Specifically, we first formulate the problem of avatar task migration from vehicles to RSUs/UAVs as a partially observable Markov decision process that can be solved by MADRL algorithms. We then design the multi-agent proximal policy optimization(MAPPO) approach as the MADRL algorithm for the avatar task migration problem. To overcome slow convergence resulting from the curse of dimensionality and non-stationary issues caused by shared parameters in MAPPO, we further propose a transformer-based MAPPO approach via sequential decision-making models for the efficient representation of relationships among agents. Finally, to motivate terrestrial or non-terrestrial edge servers(e.g., RSUs or UAVs) to share computation resources and ensure traceability of the sharing records, we apply smart contracts and blockchain technologies to achieve secure sharing management. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms the MAPPO approach by around 2% and effectively reduces approximately 20% of the latency of avatar task execution in UAV-assisted vehicular Metaverses.展开更多

In this study, we conducted a frequency analysis, semantic network analysis, and topic modeling using 134 abstracts obtained through keyword searches focusing on “sport(s)” in combination with “metaverse”, “augmented reality”, “virtual reality”, “lifelogging”, and “mixed reality”. First, the top 20 words were extracted through frequency analysis, and then each type of extracted word was retained to select seven words. The analysis revealed the emergence of key themes such as “user(s)”, “game(s)”, “technolog(y/ies)”, “experience(d)”, “physical”, “training”, and “video”, with variations in intensity depending on the type of metaverse. Second, the relationships between the words were reconfirmed using semantic networks based on the seven selected words. Finally, topic modeling analysis was conducted to uncover themes specific to each type of metaverse. We also found that “performance/scoring” was a prominent word across all types of metaverses. This suggests that in addition to providing enjoyment through sports, there is a high possibility that all users (both general users and athletes) utilize the metaverse to achieve positive outcomes and success. The importance of “performance/scoring” in sports may seem obvious;however, it also provides significant insights for practitioners when combined with metaverse-related keywords. Ultimately, this study has managerial implications for enhancing the performance of specialized users in the sports industry.展开更多

This study constructs a theoretical model based on the stimuli-organism-response (SOR) theory, the DeLone and McLean model of information system (IS) success (D&M) model, and flow theory, and conducts an empirical study using a structural equation model and regression analysis based on questionnaire survey data in China to uncover whether and how metaverse application exerts its impact. Results show that metaverse application can enhance Gen-Zers’ participation intention in the communication of intangible cultural heritage, and their mechanism follows a chain path of “stimulus-state-response” under the joint action of “technology-individual-environment” in which metaverse application is the key stimulus factor, flow experience is the mediator, and self-efficacy and subjective norm are moderators. The findings can offer new insights for research on metaverse application from the perspectives of consequences and effects and can also provide practical implications for metaverse application as well as the development and communication of intangible cultural heritage.展开更多

文摘Perceptual quality assessment for point cloud is critical for immersive metaverse experience and is a challenging task.Firstly, because point cloud is formed by unstructured 3D points that makes the topology more complex.Secondly, the quality impairment generally involves both geometric attributes and color properties, where the measurement of the geometric distortion becomes more complex. We propose a perceptual point cloud quality assessment model that follows the perceptual features of Human Visual System(HVS)and the intrinsic characteristics of the point cloud. The point cloud is first pre-processed to extract the geometric skeleton keypoints with graph filtering-based re-sampling,and local neighboring regions around the geometric skeleton keypoints are constructed by K-Nearest Neighbors(KNN)clustering. For geometric distortion, the Point Feature Histogram(PFH)is extracted as the feature descriptor, and the Earth Mover’s Distance(EMD)between the PFHs of the corresponding local neighboring regions in the reference and the distorted point clouds is calculated as the geometric quality measurement. For color distortion, the statistical moments between the corresponding local neighboring regions are computed as the color quality measurement. Finally, the global perceptual quality assessment model is obtained as the linear weighting aggregation of the geometric and color quality measurement. The experimental results on extensive datasets show that the proposed method achieves the leading performance as compared to the state-of-the-art methods with less computing time.Meanwhile, the experimental results also demonstrate the robustness of the proposed method across various distortion types. The source codes are available at https://github.com/llsurreal919/Point Cloud Quality Assessment.

文摘Avatars, as promising digital representations and service assistants of users in Metaverses, can enable drivers and passengers to immerse themselves in 3D virtual services and spaces of UAV-assisted vehicular Metaverses. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms the MAPPO approach by around 2% and effectively reduces approximately 20% of the latency of avatar task execution in UAV-assisted vehicular Metaverses.

文摘In sports, virtual spaces are sometimes utilized to enhance performance or user experience. Ultimately, this study has managerial implications for enhancing the performance of specialized users in the sports industry.

文摘With outstanding advantages in virtuality, immersion, connectivity, and openness, the application of the metaverse in the development of intangible cultural heritage has demonstrated great potential to enhance Gen-Zers’ participation intention, but the effect and its mechanism remain unclear. The findings can offer new insights for research on metaverse application from the perspectives of consequences and effects and can also provide practical implications for metaverse application as well as the development and communication of intangible cultural heritage.

文摘Nowadays, theuse of Avatars that are unique digital depictions has increased by users to access Metaverse—a virtual reality environment—through multiple devices and for various purposes. Therefore, the Avatar and Metaverse are being developed with a new theory, application, and design, necessitating the association of more personal data and devices of targeted users every day. This Avatar and Metaverse technology explosion raises privacy and security concerns, leading to cyber attacks.MV-Honeypot,or Metaverse-Honeypot,as a commercial off-the-shelf solution that can counter these cyber attack-causing vulnerabilities, should be developed. To fill this gap,we study user’s engagements with Avatars in Metaverse, analyze possible security vulnerabilities, and create a model named Simplified Avatar Relationship Association with Non-linear Gradient(SARANG)that draws the full diagram of infrastructure components and data flow through accessing Metaverse in this paper. We also determine the most significant threat for each component’s cyberattacks that will affect user data and Avatars. As a result, the commercial off-the-shelf(COTS)of the MV-Honeypot must be established.
