The paper is dedicated to the consideration of the chemical mesoscopics notions application for the explanation of polymeric materials modification mechanism by the metal carbon mesoscopic composites. The main peculiarities of these nanosized particles are following:a)the presence of unpaired electrons on the carbon cover;b)the structure of carbon cover consists from poly acetylene and carbine fragments;c)the atomic magnetic moment of inner metal is equaled to more than 1,3μB.The metal carbon mesocomposites activity depends on the medium and conditions influence because of the possible changes of the phase coherency and quantization of negative charges. 展开更多

Understanding the mesoscopic tensile fracture damage of rock is the basis of evaluating the deterioration process of mechanical properties of heat-damaged rock. For this, tensile tests of rocks under high-temperature treatment were conducted with a ϕ75 mm split Hopkinson tension bar (SHTB) to investigate the mesoscopic fracture and damage properties of rock. An improved scanning electron microscopy (SEM) experimental method was used to analyze the tensile fracture surfaces of rock samples. Qualitative and quantitative analyses were performed to assess evolution of mesoscopic damage of heat-damaged rock under tensile loading. A constitutive model describing the mesoscopic fractal damage under thermo-mechanical coupling was established. The results showed that the high temperatures significantly reduced the tensile strength and fracture surface roughness of the red sandstone. The three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of the fracture surface of the samples that experienced tensile failure at 900 °C showed a flat surface. The standard deviation of elevation and slope angle of specimen fracture surface first increased and then decreased with increasing temperature. The threshold for brittle fracture of the heat-damaged red sandstone specimens was 600 °C. Beyond this threshold temperature, local ductile fracture occurred, resulting in plastic deformation of the fracture surface during tensile fracturing. With increase of temperature, the internal meso-structure of samples was strengthened slightly at first and then deteriorated gradually, which was consistent with the change of macroscopic mechanical properties of red sandstone. The mesoscopic characteristics, such as the number, mean side length, maximum area, porosity, and fractal dimension of crack, exhibited an initial decline, followed by a gradual increase. The development of microcracks in samples had significant influence on mesoscopic fractal dimension. The mesoscopic fractal characteristics were used to establish a mesoscopic fractal damage constitutive model for red sandstone, and the agreement between the theoretical and experimental results validated the proposed model. 展开更多

High-volume fraction silicon particle-reinforced aluminium matrix composites(Si/Al)are increasingly applied in aerospace, radar communications, and large-scale integrated circuits because of their superior thermal conductivity, wear resistance, and low thermal expansion coefficient. However, the abrasive and adhesive wear caused by the hard silicon reinforcement and the ductile aluminium matrix leads to significant tool wear, decreased machining efficiency, and compromised surface quality. This study combines theoretical analysis and cutting experiments to investigate polycrystalline diamond(PCD)tool wear during milling of 70 vol%Si/Al composite.A key contribution of this work is the development of a tool wear model that incorporates reinforcement particle characteristics, treating them as ellipsoidal structures, which enhances the accuracy of predicting abrasive and adhesive wear mechanisms. The model is based on abrasive and adhesive wear mechanisms, and can analyze the interaction between silicon particles, aluminium matrix, and tool components, thus providing deeper insights into PCD tool wear processes.Experimental validation of the model shows a good agreement with the results, with a mean deviation of approximately 10%.The findings on the tool wear mechanism reveal that,as tool wear progresses, the proportion of abrasive wear increases from 40%in the running-in stage to 75%in the rapid wear stage, while adhesive wear decreases. The optimal machining parameters of 120 m·min^(–1) cutting speed(v_(c))and 0.04 mm·z^(–1) feed rate(f_(z)),result in tool life of 33 min and surface roughness(S_(a))of 2.2μm.The study uncovers the variation patterns of abrasive and adhesive wear during the tool wear process, and the proposed model offers a robust framework for predicting tool wear during the machining of high-volume fraction Si/Al composites. The research findings also offer key insights for optimizing tool selection and machining parameters, advancing both the theoretical understanding and practical application of PCD tool wear. 展开更多

The stacking of multiple defect-rich grain boundaries(GBs)along the long transportation path(~3μm)of charge carriers in printable mesoscopic perovskite solar cells(p-MPSCs)impedes their power conversion efficiency(PCE).Organic Lewis bases are widely utilized for defect passivation at GBs,but how their passivation efficiency affects energy loss remains unclear. Here we employed triphenylphosphine(TPP)and triphenylphosphine oxide(TPPO)as the model passivators in p-MPSCs.TPPO has a more negatively charged center than TPP,which enables its stronger coordination with one of the most common and detrimental defects at the GBs—undercoordinated lead. When added into the perovskite with the same ratio,TPPO passivates defects more significantly and thus less TPPO remaining inactive compared with TPP.Inactive organic passivators accumulated at the GBs could impose barriers to charge carrier transportation.Indeed,TPPO improves the device performance more significantly with a champion PCE of 20.54%achieved.Besides,the TPPO devices demonstrate excellent stability with 95%of initial PCE remaining after 600 h of maximum power point tracking at(55±5)℃. 展开更多

Modulating the interface between the electron transport layer(ETL)and perovskite to minimize interfacial recombination is pivotal for developing efficient and stable perovskite solar cells. Here,we introduce an ultra-thin ZrO_(2)insulating interface layer onto the inner surface of the mesoporous TiO_(2)ETL via the chemical bath deposition in the zirconium n-butoxide solution, which alters the interface characteristics between TiO_(2)and perovskite for the printable hole-conductor-free mesoscopic perovskite solar cells(p-MPSCs).The insulating ZrO_(2)interface layer reduces interface defects and suppresses interfacial non-radiative recombination.Furthermore, the ZrO_(2)interface layer improves the wettability of the mesoporous TiO_(2)ETL,which favors the crystallization of perovskite within the mesoporous scaffold.Meanwhile, the device performance presents thickness dependence on the interface layer. While increased thickness improves the open-circuit voltage, excessive thickness negatively impacts both the short-circuit current density and fill factor.Consequently,an improved power conversion efficiency of 19.9% was achieved for p-MPSCs with the ZrO_(2)interface layer at its optimized thickness. 展开更多

Over the past several decades, much research effort has been dedicated to the study of optical windows, with two primary themes emerging as key focuses. The first of these centers on investigating the optical properties of typical transparent single crystals under shock or ramp compression, which helps in the selection of appropriate optical windows for high-pressure experiments. The second involves the exploration of novel optical windows, particularly transparent polycrystalline ceramics, which not only match the shock impedance of the samples, but also preserve transparency under dynamic compression. In this study,we first integrate existing research on the evolution of optical properties in transparent single crystals and polycrystalline ceramics subjected to shock or ramp loading, proposing a mechanism that links mesoscopic damage to macroscopic optical transparency.Subsequently, through a systematic integration of experiments and computational analyses on polycrystalline transparent ceramics,we demonstrate that shock transparency can be enhanced by optimizing grain size and that shock impedance can be designed via compositional tuning.Notably, our results reveal that nano-grained MgAl_(2)O_(4) ceramics exhibit outstanding optical transparency under high shock pressures, highlighting a promising strategy for designing optical windows that retain transparency under extreme dynamic loading conditions. 展开更多

Biot theory research has been extended to the multi-scale heterogeneity in actual rocks. Focused on laboratory frequency bandwidth studies, we discuss the relationships between double-porosity and BISQ wave equations, analytically derive the degeneration method for double-porosity's return to BISQ, and give three necessary conditions which the degeneration must satisfy. By introducing dynamic permeability and tortuosity theory, a full set of dynamic double-porosity wave equations are derived. A narrow band approximation is made to simplify the numerical simulation for dynamic double-porosity wavefields. Finally, the pseudo-spectral method is used for wave simulation within the laboratory frequency band (50 kHz). Numerical results have proved the feasibility for dynamic double-porosity's description of squirt flow and the validity of the quasi-static approximation method. 展开更多

To study the nonclassical effects of the mesoscopic Josephson junction in the presence of a nonclassical microwave, the mesoscopic Josephson junction and the field were both treated quantum mechanically, and the external field approximation was used. It is shown that if the external field is in the coherent state and the state of the junction is initially prepared in the vacuum state, the state of the junction can evolve into a quantum superposition of two coherent states. To investigate the interaction of a mesoscopic Josephson junction with a single mode quantized electromagnetic field, the diagnonalizing process of the coupled system Hamiltonian was performed by using an unitary transformation. Zero? point energy and zero? point fluctuation of the coupled system were shown. For the ground state of the coupled system, the quantum fluctuations of the flux and charge operators in the field and junction subsystems can exhibit smaller quantum noise than the zero point fluctuations of the individual subsystems. Thus, when the coupled system is in its lowest energy state, which means that no radiation appear, the two subsystems exhibit nonclassical behavior. 展开更多

Mesoscopic fluid flow is the major cause of wave attenuation and velocity dispersion at seismic frequencies in porous rocks. The Johnson model provides solutions for the frequency-dependent quality factor and phase velocity in partially saturated porous media with pore patches of arbitrary shapes. We use the Johnson model to derive approximations for the quality factor Q at the high and low frequency limit, and obtain the approximate equation for Qmin based on geophysical and geometric parameters. A more accurate equation for Qmin is obtained after correcting for the linear errors between the exact and approximate Q values. The complexity of the pore patch shape affects the maximum attenuation of Qmin and the transition frequency ftr; furthermore, the effect on ftr is stronger than that on Qmin. Numerical solutions to Biot’s equation are computationally intensive; thus, we build an equivalent viscoelastic model on the basis of the Zener model, which well approximates the wave attenuation and dispersion in porous rocks in the seismic band. 展开更多

Based on the damage constitutive model for concrete, the Weibull distribution function was used to characterize the random distribution of the mechanical properties of materials by finely subdividing concrete slab elements, and a concrete random mesoscopic damage model was established. The seismic response of a 100-m high concrete face rockfill dam(CFRD), subjected to ground motion with different intensities, was simulated with the three-dimensional finite element method(FEM), with emphasis on exploration of damage and the cracking process of concrete slabs during earthquakes as well as analysis of dynamic damage and cracking characteristics during strong earthquakes. The calculated results show that the number of damaged and cracking elements on concrete slabs grows with the duration of earthquakes. With increasing earthquake intensity, the damaged zone and cracking zone on concrete slabs grow wider. During a 7.0-magnitude earthquake, the stress level of concrete slabs is low for the CFRD, and there is almost no damage or slight damage to the slabs. While during a 9.0-magnitude strong earthquake, the percentages of damaged elements and macrocracking elements continuously ascend with the duration of the earthquake, peaking at approximately 26% and 5% at the end of the earthquake, respectively. The concrete random mesoscopic damage model can depict the entire process of sprouting, growing, connecting, and expanding of cracks on a concrete slab during earthquakes. 展开更多

The mesoscopic simulation technique was applied to describe the phase separation behavior ofpolyimide blends and used for design of immiscible polyimide/BN blend films with enhanced thermal conductivity. The simulation equilibrium morphologies of different poly(amic acid) (PAA) blend systems were investigated and compared with optical images of corresponding polyimide blend films obtained by experiment. The immiscible polyimide blend fihns containing nano-/micro-sized BN with vertical double percolation structure were prepared. The result indicated that the thermal conductivity of polyimide blend film with 25 wt% nano-sized BN reached 1,16 W/(m·K), which was 236% increment compared with that of the homogenous film containing the same BN ratio. The significant enhancement in thermal conductivity was attributed to the good phase separation of polyimide matrix, which made the inorganic fillers selectively localized in one continuous phase with high packing density, consequently, forming the effective thermal conductive pathway. 展开更多

Based on the scheme of damped harmonic oscillator quantization and thermo-field dynamics (TFD), the quantization of mesoscopic damped double resonance RLC circuit with mutual capacitance-inductance coupling is proposed. The quantum fluctuations of charge and current of each loop in a squeezed vacuum state are studied in the thermal excitation case. It is shown that the fluctuations not only depend on circuit inherent parameters, but also rely on excitation quantum number and squeezing parameter. Moreover, due to the finite environmental temperature and damped resistance, the fluctuations increase with the temperature rising, and decay with time. 展开更多

Based on the strain invariant relationship and taking the high-order elastic energy into account, a nonlinear wave equation is derived, in which the excitation, linear damping, and the other nonlinear terms are regarded as the first-order correction to the linear wave equation. To solve the equation, the biggest challenge is that the secular terms exist not only in the fundamental wave equation but also in the harmonic wave equation (unlike the Duffing oscillator, where they exist only in the fundamental wave equation). In order to overcome this difficulty and to obtain a steady periodic solution by the perturbation technique, the following procedures are taken: (i) for the fundamental wave equation, the secular term is eliminated and therefore a frequency response equation is obtained; (ii) for the harmonics, the cumulative solutions are sought by the Lagrange variation parameter method. It is shown by the results obtained that the second- and higher-order harmonic waves exist in a vibrating bar, of which the amplitude increases linearly with the distance from the source when its length is much more than the wavelength; the shift of the resonant peak and the amplitudes of the harmonic waves depend closely on nonlinear coefficients; there are similarities to a certain extent among the amplitudes of the odd- (or even-) order harmonics, based on which the nonlinear coefficients can be determined by varying the strain and measuring the amplitudes of the harmonic waves in different locations. 展开更多
