As is recognized that traditional methods for curve geometry investigation are time consuming, labor intensive, and inaccurate, this study attempts to develop a method that can automatically conduct horizontal curve identification and measurement at network level. The digital highway data vehicle (DHDV) was utilized for data collection, in which three Euler angles, driving speed, and acceleration of survey vehicle were measured with an inertial measurement unit (IMU). The 3D profiling data used for cross slope calibration was obtained with PaveVision3D Ultra technology at 1 mm resolution. In this study, the curve identification was based on the variation of heading angle, and the curve radius was calculated with ki- nematic method, geometry method, and lateral acceleration method. In order to verify the accuracy of the three methods, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) test was applied by using the control variable of curve radius measured by field test. Based on the measured curve radius, a curve safety analysis model was used to predict the crash rates and safe driving speeds at horizontal curves. Finally, a case study on 4.35 km road segment demonstrated that the proposed method could efficiently conduct network level analysis.展开更多

Since catalase activity is associated with various diseases, including diabetes, skin diseases like vitiligo, renal failure, and heart failure, it is important to measure its activity. However, it has been difficult to accurately evaluate catalase activity alone, because there are other substances in vivo, such as iron ions, that decompose hydrogen peroxide in addition to catalase. To solve this problem, we conducted a study to develop a method to correctly measure catalase activity from samples containing impurities with hydrogen peroxide removal activity. In this study, catalase inhibitors were added to bovine catalase solution, ferric chloride solution, cell lysates of control cells and experimentally generated catalase knockdown cells (CAT KD), and these mixtures were reacted with hydrogen peroxide to determine the percentage of hydrogen peroxide remaining in the reaction solution after a certain time. The catalase inhibitors used, 3-amino-1H-1,2,4-triazole (3-AT) and sodium azide (NaN3), inhibited the removal of hydrogen peroxide by bovine catalase at a high rate in in-vitro experiments. However, these catalase inhibitors did not inhibit hydrogen peroxide removal in the Fenton reaction of iron ion and hydrogen peroxide in in-vitro experiments. On the other hand, hydrogen peroxide removal by cell lysate was inhibited by the addition of 3-AT or NaN3. The inhibitory effect was equivalent or superior to that of CAT KD cells, in which catalase was experimentally knocked down. These results suggested that 3-AT and NaN3 specifically inhibit hydrogen peroxide removal of catalase. Through these studies, we found that when cell lysate with a catalase inhibitor was mixed with hydrogen peroxide, hydrogen peroxide that was not removed by catalase inhibition remained in the test tube after a certain time, and this residual hydrogen peroxide reflected the hydrogen peroxide removal activity of catalase. By measuring this unremoved hydrogen peroxide, it was possible to evaluate catalase activity from samples containing impurities that have hydrogen peroxide removal properties.展开更多

Accurate and rapid soil bulk density measurement techniques play a significant role in agricultural experimental research. This review is a comprehensive summary of existing measurement methods and evaluates their advantages, disadvantages, potential sources of error, and directions for future development. These techniques can be broadly categorised as direct and indirect methods. Direct methods include core, clod, and excavation sampling, whereas indirect methods include the radiation and regression approaches. The core method is most widely used, but it is time consuming and difficult to use for sampling multiple soil depths. The size of the coring cylinder used, operator experience, sampling depth, and in-situ soil moisture content significantly affect its accuracy. The clod method is suitable for use with heavy clay soils, and its accuracy is dependent on equipment calibration, drying time, and operator experience, but the process is complicated and time consuming. Excavation techniques are most commonly used to evaluate the bulk density of forest soils, but have major limitations as they cannot be used in soils with large pores and their measurement accuracy is strongly influenced by soil texture and the type of analysis selected. The indirect methods appear to have greater accuracy than direct approaches, but have higher costs, are more complex, and require greater operator experience. One such approach uses gamma radiation, and its accuracy is strongly influenced by soil depth. Regression methods are economical as they can make indirect measurements, but these depend on good, quality data of soil texture and organic matter content and geographical and climatic properties. Also, like most of the other approaches, its accuracy decreases with sampling depth.展开更多

A new method using a single optical probe to measure the local solid flux is presented. The measurement of upward, downward and net solid fluxes was carried out in a cold model circulating fluidized bed (CFB) unit. The result shows that the profile of the net solid flux is in good agreement with the previous experimental data measured with a suction probe. The comparison between the average solid flux determined with the optical measuring system and the external solid flux was made, and the maximum deviationturned out to be 22%, with the average error being about 6.9%. These confirm that the optical fiber system can be successfully used to measure the upward, downward and net solid fluxes simultaneously by correctly processing the sampling signals obtained from the optical measuring system.展开更多

Meanwhile, an optimized selection principle of the ALSM signals based on the sensitivity analysis and principle component analysis(PCA)is proposed to improve the accuracy of the retrieval results. The sensitivity analysis of the ALSM signals to the optical constants or characteristic parameters in the ASD is studied first to find the optimized selection region of measurement angles. Then, the PCA is adopted to select the optimized measurement angles within the optimized selection region obtained by sensitivity analysis. The investigation reveals that, compared with random selection measurement angles, the optimized selection measurement angles can provide more useful measurement information to ensure the retrieval accuracy. Finally, the aerosol optical constants and the ASDs are reconstructed simultaneously. The results show that the retrieval accuracy of refractive indices is better than that of absorption indices, while the characteristic parameters in ASDs have similar retrieval accuracy. Moreover, the retrieval accuracy in studying L-N distribution is a little better than that in studying Gamma distribution for the difference of corresponding correlation coefficient matrixes of the ALSM signals. All the results confirm that the proposed technique is an effective and reliable technique in estimating the aerosol optical constants and ASD simultaneously.展开更多

Whether the conicity error can be measured and evaluated accurately will directly influence its assembly accuracy and working performance. According to the new generation geometrical product specification(GPS), the error and its measurement uncertainty should be evaluated together. The mathematical model of the minimum zone conicity error is established and an improved immune evolutionary algorithm(IlEA) is proposed to search for the conicity error. In the IIEA, initial antibodies are firstly generated by using quasi-random sequences and two kinds of affinities are calculated. Then, each antibody clone is generated and they are self-adaptively mutated so as to maintain diversity. Similar antibody is suppressed and new random antibody is generated. Because the mathematical model of conicity error is strongly nonlinear and the input quantities are not independent, it is difficult to use Guide to the expression of uncertainty in the measurement(GUM) method to evaluate measurement uncertainty. Adaptive Monte Carlo method(AMCM) is proposed to estimate measurement uncertainty in which the number of Monte Carlo trials is selected adaptively and the quality of the numerical results is directly controlled. The cone parts was machined on lathe CK6140 and measured on Miracle NC 454 Coordinate Measuring Machine(CMM). The experiment results confirm that the proposed method not only can search for the approximate solution of the minimum zone conicity error(MZCE) rapidly and precisely, but also can evaluate measurement uncertainty and give control variables with an expected numerical tolerance. The conicity errors computed by the proposed method are 20%-40% less than those computed by NC454 CMM software and the evaluation accuracy improves significantly.展开更多

Also, like most of the other approaches, its accuracy decreases with sampling depth.
文摘Additive manufacturing(AM)has emerged as one of the most utilized processes in manufacturing due to its ability to produce complex geometries with minimal material waste and greater design freedom.Laser-based AM(LAM)technologies use high-power lasers to melt metallic materials, which then solidify to form parts. However,it inherently induces self-equilibrating residual stress during fabrication due to thermal loads and plastic deformation. These residual stresses can cause defects such as delamination, cracking, and distortion,as well as premature failure under service conditions, necessitating mitigation. While post-treatment methods can reduce residual stresses, they are often costly and time-consuming.Therefore,tuning the fabrication process parameters presents a more feasible approach.Accordingly,in addition to providing a comprehensive view of residual stress by their classification, formation mechanisms, measurement methods, and common post-treatment,this paper reviews and compares the studies conducted on the effect of key parameters of the LAM process on the resulting residual stresses. This review focuses on proactively adjusting LAM process parameters as a strategic approach to mitigate residual stress formation. It provides a result of the various parameters influencing residual stress outcomes, such as laser power, scanning speed, beam diameter, hatch spacing, and scanning strategies. Finally, the paper identifies existing research gaps and proposes future studies needed to deepen understanding of the relationship between process parameters and residual stress mitigation in LAM.

文摘The stability of the tunnel portal slope is crucial for ensuring safe tunnel construction. Thus,a sound stability evaluation is of significance.Given the unique geological characteristics of tunnel portal slopes,it is necessary to establish a specific evaluation indicator system that differs from those used for ordinary slopes.Based on the unascertained measure method, uncertainties in the indicator are addressed by introducing the left and right half cloud asymmetric cloud model to optimize the linear membership function. The subjectivity of confidence criterion level identification is also improved by using the Euclidean distance method. Thus,a stability evaluation model for the tunnel portal slope is established based on the improved unascertained measure method. Finally, using the collected tunnel portal slope data, the results of four evaluation methods are compared with the safety factor levels. The evaluation methods include the traditional unascertained measure method, the method improved by using the left and right half cloud asymmetric cloud model, the method improved by using the Euclidean distance method, and the method improved by using both the left and right half cloud asymmetric cloud model and the Euclidean distance method. The results show that the accuracy rates of these four methods are 50%,55%,85%,and 90%,respectively.Among them, the joint improvement method has the slightest deviation, with only one level, while the other three methods had deviations of two levels. This result verifies the stability and effectiveness of the joint improvement method, providing a reference for tunnel portal slope stability evaluation.

文摘Previous works have shown that the suction probe cannot be used to accurately measure the upward and downward particle fluxes independently. These confirm that the optical fiber system can be successfully used to measure the upward, downward and net solid fluxes simultaneously by correctly processing the sampling signals obtained from the optical measuring system.

文摘The accurate measurement of surfaces of large aviation components is vital for the assessment of manufacturing and assembly quality of such components. To satisfy the measurement requirement of large-size components, most current researches pay more attention to combined measurement methods utilizing different measuring instruments, but the related researches on error analysis and optimization methods are not taken enough attention. This paper proposes a combined laser-assisted measurement method with feature enhancement techniques, and it also develops an error propagation model of the main factors affecting the overall measurement error in detail.Firstly, the surface of a large-size component is measured by the measurement system at multiple stations.Secondly,a control point coordinate system is established as a bridge to unify all local measurement data into the global coordinate system. To improve the overall measurement accuracy, the pixel extraction error as a key factor causing the overall measurement error is analyzed in detail.Next, the error propagation model is established, and some optimization strategies of layout for minimizing measurement error and transformation error are researched. Finally, experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. The results show that the measurement error of the proposed method reaches 0.073%and 0.14%with a 1 D standard ruler and a flat plate, respectively.

文摘Due to local uneven heating during the welding process, the residual stress of the structure after welding affects the reliability of it.In order to ensure the reliability,it is of great significance to test the residual stress distribution of the welded joint. It has always been the focus to find a simple and feasible method for residual stress testing to quickly and accurately obtain the residual stress distribution of welded joints. The mechanical measurement method has high measurement accuracy, convenient and easy operation, but it will cause certain damage to the components.Physical measurement method can avoid damage to components, but its test cost is usually high, and its measurement accuracy can also be affected by the material microstructure characteristics of welded components.Based on the advantages and disadvantages of these two residual stress test methods,a modal test method is proposed. This method is a non-destructive measurement method.Based on the mathematical relationship between the residual stress of the welded structure and the natural frequency(mathematical model),the natural frequency is measured through the modal test to calculate the residual stress quickly. However,it is difficult to establish a mathematical model with this method, and it is not suitable for realization.

文摘The angular light-scattering measurement(ALSM) method combined with an improved artificial bee colony algorithm is introduced to determine aerosol optical constants and aerosol size distribution(ASD) simultaneously. All the results confirm that the proposed technique is an effective and reliable technique in estimating the aerosol optical constants and ASD simultaneously.

文摘The cone is widely used in mechanical design for rotation, centering and fixing. The conicity errors computed by the proposed method are 20%-40% less than those computed by NC454 CMM software and the evaluation accuracy improves significantly.

文摘In the terahertz band, the dispersive characteristic of dielectric material is one of the major problems in the scaled radar cross section(RCS)measurement, which is inconsistent with the electrodynamics similitude deducted according to the Maxwell’s equations.Based on the high-frequency estimation method of physical optics(PO),a scaled RCS measurement method for lossy objects is proposed through dynamically matching the reflection coefficients according to the distribution of the object facets.Simulations of the model of SLICY are conducted, and the inversed RCS of the lossy prototype is obtained using the proposed method.Comparing the inversed RCS with the calculated results, the validity of the proposed method is demonstrated. The proposed method provides an effective solution to the scaled RCS measurement for lossy objects in the THz band.
