Oilfield sustainability and management:An optimization model for the reconstruction of oil and gas gathering systems based on potential location mining

The carbon emissions and cost during the construction phase are significant contributors to the oilfield lifecycle.As oilfields enter the late stage,the adaptability of facilities decreases.To achieve sustainable development,oilfield reconstruction was usually conducted in discrete rather than continuous space.Motivated by economic and sustainability goals,a 3-phase heuristic model for oilfield reconstruction was developed to mine potential locations in continuous space.In phase 1,considering the process characteristics of the oil and gas gathering system,potential locations were mined in continuous space.In phase 2,incorporating comprehensive reconstruction measures,a reconstruction model was established in discrete space.In phase 3,the topology was further adjusted in continuous space.Subsequently,the model was transformed into a single-objective mixed integer linear programming model using the augmented ε-constraint method.Numerical experiments revealed that the small number of potential locations could effectively reduce the reconstruction cost,and the quality of potential locations mined in phase 1 surpassed those generated in random or grid form.Case studies showed that cost and carbon emissions for a new block were reduced by up to 10.45% and 7.21 %,respectively.These reductions were because the potential locations mined in 1P reduced the number of metering stations,and 3P adjusted the locations of metering stations in continuous space to shorten the pipeline length.For an old oilfield,the load and connection ratios of the old metering station increased to 89.7% and 94.9%,respectively,enhancing operation efficiency.Meanwhile,recycling facilitated the diversification of reconstruction measures and yielded a profit of 582,573 ¥,constituting 5.56% of the total cost.This study adopted comprehensive reconstruction measures and tapped into potential reductions in cost and carbon emissions for oilfield reconstruction,offering valuable insights for future oilfield design and construction. 展开更多

In this study,a machine vision-based pattern matching technique was applied to estimate the location of an autonomous driving robot and perform 3D tunnel mapping in an underground mine environment.The autonomous driving robot continuously detects the wall of the tunnel in the horizontal direction using the light detection and ranging(Li DAR)sensor and performs pattern matching by recognizing the shape of the tunnel wall.The proposed method was designed to measure the heading of the robot by fusion with the inertial measurement units sensor according to the pattern matching accuracy;it is combined with the encoder sensor to estimate the location of the robot.In addition,when the robot is driving,the vertical direction of the underground mine is scanned through the vertical Li DAR sensor and stacked to create a 3D map of the underground mine.The performance of the proposed method was superior to that of previous studies;the mean absolute error achieved was 0.08 m for the X-Y axes.A root mean square error of 0.05 m^(2)was achieved by comparing the tunnel section maps that were created by the autonomous driving robot to those of manual surveying. 展开更多

Although tea is grown in agro-ecological regions widely varying in environmental factors affecting yield and quality, planters usually import genetic materials across the different growing regions assuming genotypes with good quality attributes in one location maintain their status in all regions. However, tea quality has not been replicated in new production regions. Black tea quality is influenced by the green leaf quality precursors including caffeine, total polyphenols and individual flavan-3-ols which are precursors of theaflavins and thearubigins, key plain black tea quality parameters. Factors influencing levels of the precursors compounds have not been quantified for popular Kenyan tea cultivars. The influence of geographical production location and seasons on levels and ratios of the quality precursors for 10 black tea popular clones grown in three locations in Kenya under uniform agronomic inputs were monitored. Caffeine varied significantly (P _〈 0.05) with clones and location but not with season. The flavan-3-ols and their ratios all varied (P 〈 0.05) with clones and site but not with season, with significant interactions (P 〈 0.05) between locations and clones, and locations and seasons. These results explain the observed variations in plain black tea quality due to clones and location of production. Thus, farmers in different locations are unlikely to produce black tea of same quality. It is therefore necessary to evaluate new tea genotypes in intended growing areas to establish cultivars suitable for producing high quality plain black teas in the locations. Seasonal variations in plain black tea in Kenya are unlikely to vary significantly due to flavan-3-ols. 展开更多

Location and moment tensor inversion of small earthquakes using 3D Green's functions in models with rugged topography: application to the Longmenshan fault zone

With dense seismic arrays and advanced imaging methods, regional three-dimensional (3D) Earth models have become more accurate. It is now increasingly feasible and advantageous to use a 3D Earth model to better locate earthquakes and invert their source mechanisms by fitting synthetics to observed waveforms. In this study, we develop an approach to determine both the earthquake location and source mechanism from waveform information. The observed waveforms are filtered in different frequency bands and separated into windows for the individual phases. Instead of picking the arrival times, the traveltime differences are measured by cross-correlation between synthetic waveforms based on the 3D Earth model and observed waveforms. The earthquake location is determined by minimizing the cross-correlation traveltime differences. We then fix the horizontal location of the earthquake and perform a grid search in depth to determine the source mechanism at each point by fitting the synthetic and observed waveforms. This new method is verified by a synthetic test with noise added to the synthetic waveforms and a realistic station distribution. We apply this method to a series of Mw3.4-5.6 earthquakes in the Longmenshan fault (LMSF) zone, a region with rugged topography between the eastern margin of the Tibetan plateau and the western part of the Sichuan basin. The results show that our solutions result in improved waveform fits compared to the source parameters from the catalogs we used and the location can be better constrained than the amplitude-only approach. Furthermore, the source solutions with realistic topography provide a better fit to the observed waveforms than those without the topography, indicating the need to take the topography into account in regions with rugged topography. 展开更多

Drogue recognition and 3D locating is a key problem during the docking phase of the autonomous aerial refueling (AAR). To solve this problem, a novel and effective method based on monocular vision is presented in this paper. Firstly, by employing computer vision with red-ring-shape feature, a drogue detection and recognition algorithm is proposed to guarantee safety and ensure the robustness to the drogue diversity and the changes in environmental condi- tions, without using a set of infrared light emitting diodes (LEDs) on the parachute part of the dro- gue. Secondly, considering camera lens distortion, a monocular vision measurement algorithm for drogue 3D locating is designed to ensure the accuracy and real-time performance of the system, with the drogue attitude provided. Finally, experiments are conducted to demonstrate the effective- ness of the proposed method. Experimental results show the performances of the entire system in contrast with other methods, which validates that the proposed method can recognize and locate the drogue three dimensionally, rapidly and precisely. 展开更多

A 3-phase a.c. arc plasma reactor with large volume plasma has been developed for the synthesis of new carbon nano-structures. One of the main characteristics of the plasma system is related to the absence of a fixed neutral point. This gives rise to a rich and complex phenomenology related to instabilities and arc motion since the arcs are "burning" freely in the gas flow between the three electrodes. This paper is dedicated to the analysis of the behavior of such a system under typical conditions using argon and nitrogen as plasma gases. A classification of are configuration, arc commutating, arc interaction, arc motion and arc instabilities are discussed based on ultra high-speed cine camera analysis. A simple model describing the time evolution of the system is also presented and compared with the experimental measurements. The results show that an adequate control could allow the improvement of the overall system. 展开更多

In this paper,low temperature plasma is used to modify the surface of barium titanate(BaTiO3)nanoparticles in order to enhance the interfacial compatibility between ferroelectric poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF) and BaTiO3 nanoparticles.The results demonstrate that oxygenic groups are successfully attached to the BaTiO3 surface,and the quantity of the functional groups increases with the treatment voltage.Furthermore,the effect of modified BaTiO3 nanoparticles on the morphology and crystal structure of the PVDF/BaTiO3 membrane is investigated.The results reveal that the dispersion of BaTiO3 nanoparticles in the PVDF matrix was greatly improved due to the modification of the BaTiO3 nanoparticles by air plasma.It is worth noting that the formation of a β-phase in a PVDF/modified BaTiO3 membrane is observably promoted,which results from the strong interaction between PVDF chains and oxygenic groups fixed on the BaTiO3 surface and the better dispersion of BaTiO3 nanoparticles in the PVDF matrix.Besides,the PVDF/modified BaTiO3 membrane at the treatment voltage of 24 k V exhibits a lower water contact angle(≈68.4°) compared with the unmodified one(≈86.7°).Meanwhile,the dielectric constant of PVDF/BaTiO3 nanocomposites increases with the increase of working voltage. 展开更多

The acceleration grid power supply(AGPS) is a crucial part of the Negative-ion Neutral Beam Injection system in the China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor,which includes a 3-phase passive(diode) rectifier.To diagnose and localize faults in the rectifier,this paper proposes a frequencydomain analysis-based fault diagnosis algorithm for the rectifier in AGPS.First,time-domain expressions and spectral characteristics of the output voltage of the TPTL-NPC inverter-based power supply are analyzed.Then,frequency-domain analysis-based fault diagnosis and frequency-domain analysis-based sub-fault diagnosis algorithms are proposed to diagnose open circuit(OC) faults of diode(s),which benefit from the analysis of harmonics magnitude and phase-angle of the output voltage.Only a fundamental period is needed to diagnose and localize exact faults,and a strong Variable-duration Fault Detection Method is proposed to identify acceptable ripple from OC faults.Detailed simulations and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness,quickness,and robustness of the proposed algorithms,and the diagnosis algorithms proposed in this article provide a significant method for the fault diagnosis of other rectifiers and converters. 展开更多

Object recognition and location has always been one of the research hotspots in machine vision.It is of great value and significance to the development and application of current service robots,industrial automation,unmanned driving and other fields.In order to realize the real-time recognition and location of indoor scene objects,this article proposes an improved YOLOv3 neural network model,which combines densely connected networks and residual networks to construct a new YOLOv3 backbone network,which is applied to the detection and recognition of objects in indoor scenes.In this article,RealSense D415 RGB-D camera is used to obtain the RGB map and depth map,the actual distance value is calculated after each pixel in the scene image is mapped to the real scene.Experiment results proved that the detection and recognition accuracy and real-time performance by the new network are obviously improved compared with the previous YOLOV3 neural network model in the same scene.More objects can be detected after the improvement of network which cannot be detected with the YOLOv3 network before the improvement.The running time of objects detection and recognition is reduced to less than half of the original.This improved network has a certain reference value for practical engineering application. 展开更多

文中基于深度学习方法,对微山震群附近地区进行了地震检测和地震精定位,并通过双差层析成像方法反演了震源区的三维速度结构。基于地震精定位结果和反演的三维速度结构,并结合部分M_(L)≥2.0地震的震源机制解,对微山震群的孕震环境和发... 文中基于深度学习方法,对微山震群附近地区进行了地震检测和地震精定位,并通过双差层析成像方法反演了震源区的三维速度结构。基于地震精定位结果和反演的三维速度结构,并结合部分M_(L)≥2.0地震的震源机制解,对微山震群的孕震环境和发震构造进行了深入分析。研究结果表明,微山震群的发震断裂为一条高角度左旋走滑断裂,走向NWW,略向SW向倾斜;发震断裂破裂面尺度较小,破裂由8km深度处开始向地表方向破裂,同时沿断裂走向两侧破裂,但未破裂至地表。地下介质波速和泊松比在孙氏店断裂和凫山断裂两侧变化剧烈,且不同深度具有一定的分层特征。微山震群位于P波、S波高速异常体内,同时泊松比相对较低。基于发震断裂的性质与区域地壳结构特征,分析认为震源区坚硬地层的脆性破裂是微山震群的直接成因,反映了区域应力的集中释放过程。上述发现深化了对微山震群地震活动机制和孕震环境的理解。 展开更多

This report gives a brief look at the theoretical background related with such a device and derives several mathematical results associated with the theory and the structure of the device. Our results suggest that such a device can be built, assuming the distances between the three current-carrying wires and the two sensors of the device are known accurately enough.
