Comparative Analysis between Conventional PI, Fuzzy Logic and Artificial Neural Network Based Speed Controllers of Induction Motor with Considering Core Loss and Stray Load Loss

Most of the controllers of IM (induction motor) for industrial applications have been designed based on PI controller without consideration of CL (core loss) and SLL (stray load loss). To get the precise performances of torque as well as rotor speed and flux, the above mentioned losses should be considered. Conventional PI controller has overshoot effect at the transient period of the speed response curve. On the other hand, fuzzy logic and ANN (artificial neural network) based controllers can minimize the overshoot effect at the transient period because they have the abilities to deal with the nonlinear systems. In this paper, a comparative analysis is done between PI, fuzzy logic and ANN based speed controllers to find the suitable control strategy for IM with consideration of CL and SLL. The simulation analysis is done by using Matlab/Simulink software. The simulation results show that the fuzzy logic based speed controller gives better responses than ANN and conventional PI based speed controllers in terms of rotor speed, electromagnetic torque and rotor flux of IM. 展开更多

Continuous power supply of urban power networks(UPNs)is quite essential for the public security of a city because the UPN acts as the basis for other infrastructure networks.In recent years,UPN is threatened by extreme weather events.An accurate modeling of load loss risk under extreme weather is quite essential for the preventive action of UPN.Con-sidering the forecast intensity of a typhoon disaster,this paper proposes analytical modeling of disaster-induced load loss for preventive allocation of mobile power sources(MPSs)in UPNs.First,based on the topological structure and fragility model of overhead lines and substations,we establish an analytical load loss model of multi-voltage-level UPN to quantify the spatial dis-tribution of disaster-induced load loss at the substation level.Second,according to the projected load loss distribution,a preventive allocation method of MPS is proposed,which makes the best use of MPS and dispatches the limited power supply to most vulnerable areas in the UPN.Finally,the proposed meth-od is validated by the case study of a practical UPN in China. 展开更多

Lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs)are promising alternative energy storage devices to the commercial lithium-ion batteries.However,the LSBs have several limitations including the low electronic conductivity of sulfur(5×10^-30S cm^-1),associated lithium polysulfides(PSs),and their migration from the cathode to the anode.In this study,a separator coated with a Ketjen black(KB)/Nafion composite was used in an LSB with a sulfur loading up to 7.88 mg cm^-2to mitigate the PS migration.A minimum specific capacity(Cs)loss of 0.06%was obtained at 0.2 C-rate at a high sulfur loading of 4.39 mg cm^-2.Furthermore,an initial areal capacity up to 6.70 mAh cm^-2 was obtained at a sulfur loading of 7.88 mg cm^-2.The low Cs loss and high areal capacity associated with the high sulfur loading are attributed to the large surface area of the KB and sulfonate group(SO3^-)of Nafion,respectively,which could physically and chemically trap the PSs. 展开更多

Anthropogenic architectures have a significant impact to the environment. The Three Gorges Dam(TGD),as the largest dam in the world, is a typical example, and has influenced the mass anomalies transported by the flow downstream in the Yangtze River since June 2003. However, the evidence of TGD influence on downstream mass transportation is not documented. In this study, we analyze the monthly gravity solutions from GRACE to investigate the downstream mass variations of Yangtze River. From our results,the considerable mass loss is detected in the downstream of TGD. By comparing our estimations with the in situ water level data of TGD, we find that the mass variations derived from GRACE at Datong station decreases shortly after the impoundment of TGD. This confirms a strong connection between them.Furthermore, by comparing with the in situ sediment load and river discharge at Yichang and Datong gauging stations, we find that the sediment load data shows a similar mass loss signature while the river discharge of both stations has stay at a relative stable level. This indicates that further study is still needed to understand the mechanism better. 展开更多

Also, there has been an incredible growth in the use of cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) cables in distribution systems. Harmonics cause additional power loss/temperature rise;causing premature failure of cables. Catastrophic failure of power cables leads to great inconvenience to consumers and loss of system reliability and money. To avoid the overheating of power cables;the additional power loss due to harmonics should be accurately calculated and properly accommodated by derating the cable. The present method of calculating the power loss in cables in harmonics rich environment is very arduous. The aim of this paper is to present the reasonably accurate method for evaluating effects of harmonics on the power loss in XLPE cables. Computational model is developed in MATLAB for power loss calculation using conventional method. Using this model, calculations are performed for aluminium and copper conductor XLPE cables of different size and type;for three different types of harmonics spectrums having total harmonics distortion (THD) of 30.68%, including all odd harmonics components up to 49th order. Using these results;a mathematical model in the form of simple empirical formula is developed by curve fitting technique. Investigation of Power Supply to Subsea Loads from High Voltage Electric Source Using Modular Direct Current Scheme

Subsea power converters have been identified in recent researches as a potential means of supplying power to subsea loads and this technology has been seen as a means to reduce the reliance on offshore platforms. This study analyses all electric subsea high power system for power generation and transmission in the offshore oil and gas industry for sustainable subsea development. In order to accomplish the analysis of power generation and transmission to subsea loads, the MAT lab SIMULINK software was employed to ascertain losses arising from the transmission of power to subsea systems. Data from Agbara and Akpo fields, all located in Nigeria, were analysed using the MSDC model as an alternative power source for power generation and transmission to all subsea loads. When the voltage loss between a step out distance at 30 km and 200 km was compared for the Akpo oil field, the plots indicate a significant loss in voltage. The RMS value of voltage loss increased from 0.8874 at a step out distance 30 km to 0.9449 for 200 km. 展开更多

Investigating the Effects of Slack Bus Selection in Load Flow Studies: A Comparative Analysis of Robust and Weak Grids

They enable the computation of voltage, current, and power flows in a power system. They provide valuable insights into the steady-state performance of the power system under different operating conditions. Choosing a slack bus is a vital step in conducting load flow simulations. A slack bus is a PV bus that includes a generator and is used to balance real and reactive power during load flow studies. Many studies have been conducted on the selection of slack buses in load flow analysis. However, varied conclusions regarding the impact on system losses and power flows were obtained during these studies. Therefore, using the IEEE-14 bus test system, this study investigated the effects of slack bus selection in strong and weak grids by alternating slack buses among PV buses and observing the effects on bus voltage magnitude, bus voltage phase angle, total power flows, and active and reactive power losses. The study noted that the effect of slack bus selection on these system quantities is contingent upon the voltage stability of the grid. Whereas in a robust grid, system losses and power flows remained constant irrespective of the choice of slack bus, a weak grid experienced some variations in these system quantities under similar circumstances. The simulation results led to the conclusion that, to a large extent, the voltage stability of the grid plays a significant role in determining the degree to which slack bus selection affects system losses and other quantities in load flow studies. 展开更多

Joule losses in the power grids are a factor in the degradation of power grid equipment (lines and transformers), but also a shortfall for power companies, which must maximize their revenues. This is why in this article we present a study on the optimization of joule losses in a meshed electricity network interconnected to a very high voltage power line crossing Congolese territory for nearly one thousand five hundred (1500) kilometers. The value of interconnections no longer needs to be demonstrated in view of these technical, economic and social advantages. The object of this study is to assess the optimal node where the interconnection can be achieved which would cause fewer joule losses in the networks to be interconnected on this line. Indeed, it can have several possible nodes where the interconnection can be carried out, so it is necessary to simulate each configuration in order to evaluate the losses using the hybrid method including the genetic algorithm to provide different configurations and the Newton Raphson algorithm. Advanced integrating FACTS devices in this case STATCOM to perform load flow. The results are interesting because by injecting electrical energy to the network or to the line to the same selected, the joule losses are within the standards provided by the International Electrotechnical Commission. 展开更多

频率和容量的升高会使中频变压器的电气性能和结构发生较大变化,其磁热问题较为突出。为了保证中频变压器安全稳定地运行,该文以一台百兆瓦级400 Hz中频变压器作为研究对象,首先,利用参数扫描法进行了中频变压器的电磁设计,并与工频变... 频率和容量的升高会使中频变压器的电气性能和结构发生较大变化,其磁热问题较为突出。为了保证中频变压器安全稳定地运行,该文以一台百兆瓦级400 Hz中频变压器作为研究对象,首先,利用参数扫描法进行了中频变压器的电磁设计,并与工频变压器进行了对比分析,发现中频变压器空载损耗较大;其次,为了验证设计结果的准确性,利用有限元软件对中频变压器的磁场分布、短路阻抗及温度场分布进行了计算与分析;再次,通过对变压器绕组进行二维精细化建模与仿真分析,得到了铁心和绕组的热点位置,并根据磁热分布结果得到了铁心空载损耗较大会导致局部过热风险的结论;最后,为了降低铁心损耗和防止局部过热,增设铁心油道数量进行局部过热控制。仿真结果表明,采用双油道设计方案时,铁心的磁、热性能均满足产品设计要求。该研究可为今后对中频变压器的磁热设计提供参考。 展开更多

高质量的粮食流通体系是保障粮食供需平衡和粮食安全的重要保障。本文考虑粮食货种易损耗特性,以运输、碳排放、损耗总成本最小化为目标,构建同时考虑“袋装-散装-集装箱装载”不同装载方式和“公路-铁路-水路”不同运输方式的联合优化... 高质量的粮食流通体系是保障粮食供需平衡和粮食安全的重要保障。本文考虑粮食货种易损耗特性,以运输、碳排放、损耗总成本最小化为目标,构建同时考虑“袋装-散装-集装箱装载”不同装载方式和“公路-铁路-水路”不同运输方式的联合优化模型,并以我国东北地区“北粮南运”为现实场景,采用启发式遗传算法开展算例分析。计算结果表明:粮食集装箱公铁水多式联运相比包粮和散粮运输具有明显的低总成本和低损耗优势,损耗成本占比分别为9.86%、42.29%、29.82%。“北粮南运”过程中公路定位于两端集疏运,铁路和水路承担干线长距离运输,随着运达时长要求的提高,铁路占比逐渐增加,水路占比逐渐减少,当运达总时长为71.5 h,最优运输方案由集装箱公铁水联运转变为集装箱公铁联运。在总成本构成中,3种装载方式最优路径的运输成本、碳排成本基本相同,政府管理部门、物流服务提供商应认识到降低粮食运输损耗量是降低全程物流运输成本的有效方式。 展开更多

精确预测盾构施工导致的地层变形对确保工程施工安全与质量具有关键意义,当前研究较少考虑土体的非饱和特性.基于非饱和半空间受埋置集中力作用初值解和改进的土层损失引起的三维位移解,同时考虑刀盘挤土效应、盾壳摩擦力和注浆压力非... 精确预测盾构施工导致的地层变形对确保工程施工安全与质量具有关键意义,当前研究较少考虑土体的非饱和特性.基于非饱和半空间受埋置集中力作用初值解和改进的土层损失引起的三维位移解,同时考虑刀盘挤土效应、盾壳摩擦力和注浆压力非均匀分布等因素,运用叠加法求解盾构施工导致的非饱和地层位移.结合实际工程参数计算,并与实测值和基于Mindlin解计算结果比对,验证了叠加法的科学有效性.研究结果表明,土体损失是盾构推进中导致地层变形的主要因素,施工荷载导致的地层变形受土体饱和度显著制约.随着土体饱和度降低,荷载导致的地层变形呈减小趋势,与饱和土体相比,位移幅值最大可降低35%;在不同饱和度下,相同位置处土体变形均随着埋深比增大而递减,最大降幅可达83.1%.基于Mindlin解的解答低估了盾构施工引起的地层位移,将会给工程带来潜在隐患. 展开更多

在地震作用下,倾斜场地液化及其引起的侧向大变形会导致桥梁下部结构出现明显的残余变形,造成竖向承载能力损失,进而导致桥梁通行功能下降,因此很有必要对桥梁震后竖向承载能力的损失展开量化研究。该文介绍了典型的液化大变形场地桩柱... 在地震作用下,倾斜场地液化及其引起的侧向大变形会导致桥梁下部结构出现明显的残余变形,造成竖向承载能力损失,进而导致桥梁通行功能下降,因此很有必要对桥梁震后竖向承载能力的损失展开量化研究。该文介绍了典型的液化大变形场地桩柱式墩桥梁及其数值模拟方法,考虑结构、土体共16个参数的不确定性随机抽取了80个桥梁样本用于研究;提出了增量动力分析(IDA)与竖向推覆(Pushdown)分析相结合的桥梁震后竖向承载能力损失分析方法;结合典型工况的计算结果,分析了桥梁震后竖向承载能力损失的机理;建立了基于桥墩残余漂移率的震后竖向承载能力损失量化回归模型和概率评估模型,并提出了面向震后承载能力损失的桥墩多级性能指标。结果表明:桩柱式墩的震后残余变形主要由砂土液化诱发的上覆土层侧向大变形引起;震后残余变形和Pushdown竖向加载过程中的P-Δ效应,是导致桥梁竖向承载能力损失的根本原因;竖向承载能力损失与桥墩残余漂移率呈幂函数关系,竖向承载能力损失5%、20%、35%和50%对应的桥墩残余漂移率均值分别为0.04%、0.56%、1.55%和2.96%。研究成果可为中国液化大变形场地桩柱式墩桥梁的震后竖向承载能力评估与决策提供依据。 展开更多

现行技术在电力配电线路节能降耗中效果不佳,不仅线损率较高,而且线路电能损耗较大,无法达到预期的节能降耗效果。为此,开展基于自动无功补偿技术的电力配电线路节能降损研究。在配电端引入无功补偿器,自动采集配电线路电流与电压有效数... 现行技术在电力配电线路节能降耗中效果不佳,不仅线损率较高,而且线路电能损耗较大,无法达到预期的节能降耗效果。为此,开展基于自动无功补偿技术的电力配电线路节能降损研究。在配电端引入无功补偿器,自动采集配电线路电流与电压有效数据,预测配电线路负荷,根据配电线路负荷确定线路无功损耗,作为无功补偿器输出信号,自动调整其线路无功输出,以最小化无功损耗,实现基于自动无功补偿技术的电力配电线路节能降损。经实验证明,设计技术应用下配电线损率不超过2%,线路电能损耗得到了有效降低,节能降耗效果良好。 展开更多
