The learning of English academic vocabulary has been the focus of numerous studies from the time Coxhead(2000)developed the academic word list to the present day.Various researchers have emphasized the importance of p...The learning of English academic vocabulary has been the focus of numerous studies from the time Coxhead(2000)developed the academic word list to the present day.Various researchers have emphasized the importance of possessing academic vocabulary knowledge for academic success.Recognizing this importance,it is crucial for researchers,teachers,and learners to understand the progress made in academic word lists.This systematic review first identifies,describes,appraises,and synthesizes the development of academic word lists from 2000 to 2020.It then examines the methods used by researchers in developing academic word lists among 56 studies that meet the pre-established criteria.The word lists were classified based on some criteria such as word counting units,corpora types/sizes,and exclusion criteria.Limitations,suggestions for further study,and implications are also discussed.Additionally,recommendations for future word list establishment are provided to help advance the field of word list development.展开更多

It also contributes with a set of recommendations for the construction and maintenance of national lists of journals and book publishers.Design/methodology/approach: The study is based on analysis of previously published studies, policy papers, and reported experiences related to the construction and use of lists of scholarly publication channels. Findings: Several countries have systems for research funding and/or evaluation, that involve the use of national lists of scholarly publication channels(mainly journals and publishers). Typically, such lists are selective(do not include all scholarly or non-scholarly channels) and differentiated(distinguish between channels of different levels and quality). At the same time, most lists are embedded in a system that encompasses multiple or all disciplines. This raises the question how such lists can be organized and maintained to ensure that all relevant disciplines and all types of research are adequately represented. Research limitation: The conclusions and recommendations of the study are based on the authors' interpretation of a complex and sometimes controversial process with many different stakeholders involved.Practical implications: The recommendations and the related background information provided in this paper enable mutual learning that may feed into improvements in the construction and maintenance of national and other lists of scholarly publication channels in any geographical context. Analyses of the patient referrals suggest that a large proportion of children ma...Extremely long Australian paediatric outpatient waiting lists have resulted in large numbers of children waiting to see a paediatrician. Analyses of the patient referrals suggest that a large proportion of children may benefit from allied health input, in addition to being seen by the paediatrician. This paper provides an organisational strategy that involves streamlining Allied Health clinical services in an effort to assist with bringing down a Paediatric Out-patient waitlist. The paper describes principles to guide the formation of a Paediatric Allied Health Multi-Disciplinary team that proposes assessment and brief interventions. The service would focus on supporting the paediatricians through the use of structured procedures, telephone intakes, multidisciplinary triage, shared and standardised assessments, collaborative formulations and reports, brief interventions, clinical-community linkages, and allied health student support. A variety of additional important organisational principles are proposed to facilitate patient flow from the perspective of streamlining administrative processes, having adequate administrative support, shared responsibilities, teamwork, flexibility, carrying out intake assessments, determining which referrals were appropriate for allied health, and working closely with medical staff.展开更多

The compilation of technology lists addressing climate change has a guiding effect on promoting technological research and development,demonstration,and popularization.It is also crucial for China to strengthen ecolog...The compilation of technology lists addressing climate change has a guiding effect on promoting technological research and development,demonstration,and popularization.It is also crucial for China to strengthen ecological civilization construction,achieve the carbon emission peak and carbon neutrality target,and enhance global climate governance capabilities.This study first proposes the existing classification outline of the technology promotion lists,technology demand lists,and future technology lists.Then,different methodologies are integrated on the basis of the existing outline of four technology lists:China’s existing technological promotion list for addressing climate change,China’s demand list for climate change mitigation technology,China’s key technology list for addressing climate change,and China’s future technology list for addressing climate change.What’s more,core technologies are analyzed in the aspects of technology maturity,carbon reduction cost,carbon reduction potential,economic benefits,social influence,uncertainty,etc.The results show that:key industries and sectors in China already have relatively mature mitigation/adaptation technologies to support the achievement of climate change targets.The multi-sectoral system of promoting climate friendly technologies has been established,which has played an active role in tackling climate change.Currently,climate technology needs are concentrated in the traditional technology and equipment upgrading,renewable energy technology,and management decision-making support technology.The key technologies are concentrated in 3 major areas and 12 technological directions that urgently need a breakthrough.For carbon emmission peak and nentrality,carbon depth reduction and zero carbon emissions and geoengineering technology(CDR and SRM)have played an important role in forming the structure of global emissions and achieving carbon neutrality in the future.Thus,the uncertainty assessment for the comprehensive technology cost effectiveness,technology integration direction,technical maturity,ethics and ecological impacts is supportive to the national technology strategy.Finally,the presented study proposes several policy implications for medium-and long-term technology deployment,improving technology conversion rate,promoting the research and development of core technologies,and forming a technology list collaborative update and release mechanism.展开更多

Kaouthar Blibech and Alban Gabillon proposed a head proof and a tail proof algorithms for the membership proof of elements in the authenticated skip list. However, the proposed algorithms are uncorrelated each other and need plateau function. We propose a new algorithm for computing the membership proof for elements in the authenticated skip list by using two stacks, one is for storing traversal chain of leaf node, the other is for storing authentication path for the leaf. The proposed algorithm is simple and effective without needing plateau function. It can also be applicable for other similar binary hash trees.展开更多

BACKGROUND The CAR-OLT score predicts major adverse cardiovascular events 1 year after liver transplant(LT).AIM To test the hypothesis that the CAR-OLT score may help avoid cardiac stress tests in LT candidates.METHOD...BACKGROUND The CAR-OLT score predicts major adverse cardiovascular events 1 year after liver transplant(LT).AIM To test the hypothesis that the CAR-OLT score may help avoid cardiac stress tests in LT candidates.METHODS This retrospective single-center cohort study included all adult patients undergoing elective evaluation for first cadaveric donor orthotopic LT for liver cirrhosis with or without hepatocellular carcinoma at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli Istituto di Ricerca e Cura a Carattere Scientifico in Rome,Italy.Cardiac contraindications for LT listing were defined after a center-specific cardiac workup,which included cardiac stress tests for most patients.The diagnostic accuracy of the CAR-OLT score was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic(AUROC)method.RESULTS A total of 342 LT candidates were evaluated between 2015 and 2019,with a moderate cardiovascular risk profile(37%diabetes,34%hypertension,22%obesity).Of these,80(23%)candidates underwent coronary angiography.Twenty-one(6%)candidates were given cardiac contraindications to LT listing,48%of which were due to coronary artery disease.The CAR-OLT score predicted cardiac contraindications to LT listing with an AUROC of 0.81.The optimal cut-off for sensitivity was a CAR-OLT score≤23,which showed a 99%negative predictive value for cardiac contraindications to LT listing.A total of 84(25%)LT candidates with a CAR-OLT score≤23 underwent 87 non-invasive cardiac tests and 13 coronary angiographies pre-listing,with estimated costs of approximately 48000€.The estimated savings per patient was€574.70 for the Italian National Health System.CONCLUSION A CAR-OLT score≤23 can identify LT candidates who can be safely listed without the need for cardiac stress tests,providing time and cost savings.These findings require external validation.展开更多
Assessing the threat status of species in response to global change is critical for biodiversity monitoring and conservation efforts.However,current frameworks,even the IUCN Red List,often neglect critical factors suc...Assessing the threat status of species in response to global change is critical for biodiversity monitoring and conservation efforts.However,current frameworks,even the IUCN Red List,often neglect critical factors such as genetic diversity and the impacts of climate and land-use changes,hindering effective conservation planning.To address these limitations,we developed an enhanced extinction risk assessment framework using Diploderma lizards as a model.This framework incorporates long-term field surveys,environmental data,and land-use information to predict distributional changes for 10 recently described Diploderma species on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau,which hold ecological significance but remain underassessed in conservation assessment.By integrating the distribution data and genetically inferred effective population sizes(Ne),we conducted scenario analyses and used a rank-sum approach to calculate Risk ranking scores(RRS)for each species.This approach revealed significant discrepancies with the IUCN Red List assessments.Notably,D.yangi and D.qilin were identified as facing the highest extinction risk.Furthermore,D.vela,D.batangense,D.flaviceps,D.dymondi,D.yulongense,and D.laeviventre,currently classified as“Least Concern”,were found to warrant reclassification as“Vulnerable”due to considerable threat from projected range contractions.Exploring the relationship between morphology and RRS revealed that traits such as snout-vent length and relative tail length could serve as potential predictors of extinction risk,offering preliminary metrics for assessing species vulnerability when comprehensive data are unavailable.This study enhances the precision of extinction risk assessment frameworks and demonstrates their capacity to refine and update risk assessments,especially for lesser-known taxa.展开更多

Nothofagus alessandrii forests in the Mediterranean region of Chile face significant threats from deforestation,fragmentation,wildfires,and climate change.This study investigated the temporal and spatial dynamics of N...Nothofagus alessandrii forests in the Mediterranean region of Chile face significant threats from deforestation,fragmentation,wildfires,and climate change.This study investigated the temporal and spatial dynamics of N.alessandrii populations and their implications for habitat fragmentation and connectivity.Using remote sensing data and geographic information system analysis,we assessed deforestation patterns,fragmentation metrics,and connectivity indices for different scenarios between 2009 and 2022.A reduction in the N.alessandrii forest area,extensive fragmentation,and decreased connectivity were observed over time,with wildfires exacerbating these trends.Reforestation simulations showed the potential of targeted restoration efforts to improve connectivity,especially when focusing on proximate patches.However,careful consideration of seed dispersal distances and wildfire risk is essential for effective reforestation planning.Overall,our findings underscore the urgent need for conservation interventions to preserve N.alessandrii forests and their biodiversity in Chile's coastal mountain ecosystems.A proactive and collaborative approach is essential to ensure the survival of these forests for future generations.展开更多

文摘The search for new research ideas is a central challenge for many scientists.Over the past four decades,I have formed opinions on methods for discerning promising paths from how my own work has advanced in fits and starts.I list five criteria whose relevance and utility I have assessed based on my checkered history of research.
文摘BACKGROUND The CAR-OLT score predicts major adverse cardiovascular events 1 year after liver transplant(LT).AIM To test the hypothesis that the CAR-OLT score may help avoid cardiac stress tests in LT candidates.METHODS This retrospective single-center cohort study included all adult patients undergoing elective evaluation for first cadaveric donor orthotopic LT for liver cirrhosis with or without hepatocellular carcinoma at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli Istituto di Ricerca e Cura a Carattere Scientifico in Rome,Italy.Cardiac contraindications for LT listing were defined after a center-specific cardiac workup,which included cardiac stress tests for most patients.The diagnostic accuracy of the CAR-OLT score was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic(AUROC)method.RESULTS A total of 342 LT candidates were evaluated between 2015 and 2019,with a moderate cardiovascular risk profile(37%diabetes,34%hypertension,22%obesity).Of these,80(23%)candidates underwent coronary angiography.Twenty-one(6%)candidates were given cardiac contraindications to LT listing,48%of which were due to coronary artery disease.The CAR-OLT score predicted cardiac contraindications to LT listing with an AUROC of 0.81.The optimal cut-off for sensitivity was a CAR-OLT score≤23,which showed a 99%negative predictive value for cardiac contraindications to LT listing.A total of 84(25%)LT candidates with a CAR-OLT score≤23 underwent 87 non-invasive cardiac tests and 13 coronary angiographies pre-listing,with estimated costs of approximately 48000€.The estimated savings per patient was€574.70 for the Italian National Health System.CONCLUSION A CAR-OLT score≤23 can identify LT candidates who can be safely listed without the need for cardiac stress tests,providing time and cost savings.These findings require external validation.

文摘Assessing the threat status of species in response to global change is critical for biodiversity monitoring and conservation efforts.However,current frameworks,even the IUCN Red List,often neglect critical factors such as genetic diversity and the impacts of climate and land-use changes,hindering effective conservation planning.To address these limitations,we developed an enhanced extinction risk assessment framework using Diploderma lizards as a model.This framework incorporates long-term field surveys,environmental data,and land-use information to predict distributional changes for 10 recently described Diploderma species on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau,which hold ecological significance but remain underassessed in conservation assessment.By integrating the distribution data and genetically inferred effective population sizes(Ne),we conducted scenario analyses and used a rank-sum approach to calculate Risk ranking scores(RRS)for each species.This approach revealed significant discrepancies with the IUCN Red List assessments.Notably,D.yangi and D.qilin were identified as facing the highest extinction risk.Furthermore,D.vela,D.batangense,D.flaviceps,D.dymondi,D.yulongense,and D.laeviventre,currently classified as“Least Concern”,were found to warrant reclassification as“Vulnerable”due to considerable threat from projected range contractions.Exploring the relationship between morphology and RRS revealed that traits such as snout-vent length and relative tail length could serve as potential predictors of extinction risk,offering preliminary metrics for assessing species vulnerability when comprehensive data are unavailable.This study enhances the precision of extinction risk assessment frameworks and demonstrates their capacity to refine and update risk assessments,especially for lesser-known taxa.
文摘A graph G is called d-degenerate if every subgraph of G has a vertex of degree at most d.It was known that planar graphs are 5-degenerate and every planar graph without k-cycles for some prescribed k∈{3,5,6}is 3-degenerate.In this paper,we show that if G is a planar graph without kites and 9-or 10-cycles,then G is 3-degenerate,hence 4-choosable and list vertex 2-arborable.

文摘Nothofagus alessandrii forests in the Mediterranean region of Chile face significant threats from deforestation,fragmentation,wildfires,and climate change.This study investigated the temporal and spatial dynamics of N.alessandrii populations and their implications for habitat fragmentation and connectivity.Using remote sensing data and geographic information system analysis,we assessed deforestation patterns,fragmentation metrics,and connectivity indices for different scenarios between 2009 and 2022.A reduction in the N.alessandrii forest area,extensive fragmentation,and decreased connectivity were observed over time,with wildfires exacerbating these trends.Reforestation simulations showed the potential of targeted restoration efforts to improve connectivity,especially when focusing on proximate patches.However,careful consideration of seed dispersal distances and wildfire risk is essential for effective reforestation planning.Overall,our findings underscore the urgent need for conservation interventions to preserve N.alessandrii forests and their biodiversity in Chile's coastal mountain ecosystems.A proactive and collaborative approach is essential to ensure the survival of these forests for future generations.
文摘In the increasingly competitive construction market,the engineering quantity list pricing model,as an important way of project cost management,is of crucial significance for construction enterprises to control costs and enhance benefits.This study deeply analyzes the characteristics of engineering quantity list pricing,and elaborates on the dilemmas faced by construction enterprises in project cost control,such as lagging concepts,imperfect mechanisms,weak risk management and control,and lack of construction-stage management.Based on this,from the dimensions of strengthening management and control concepts,improving supervision mechanisms,enhancing risk management and control capabilities,and attaching importance to construction-stage cost management,this study proposes project cost management and control strategies that are in line with the actual situation of construction enterprises,aiming to promote construction enterprises to achieve scientific management and optimization of project costs under the engineering quantity list pricing model.
