Discharge characte... The analysis of cutting regularity is provided through using and comparing two typical cooling liquids. It is proved that cutting regularity is greatly affected by cooling liquid's washing ability. Discharge characteristics and theoretic analysis between two electrodes are also discussed based on discharge waveform. By using composite cooling liquid which has strong washing ability, the efficiency in the first stable cutting phase has reached more than 200 mm^2/min, and the roughness of the surface has reached Ra〈0.8 μm after the fourth cutting with more than 50 mm^2/min average cutting efficiency. It is pointed out that cutting situation of the wire cut electrical discharge machine with high wire traveling speed (HSWEDM) is better than the wire cut electrical discharge machine with low wire traveling speed (LSWEDM) in the condition of improving the cooling liquid washing ability. The machining indices of HSWEDM will be increased remarkably by using the composite cooling liquid. 展开更多

M-LSM:An Improved Multi-Liquid State Machine for Event-Based Vision Recognition

Event-based computation has recently gained increasing research interest for applications of vision recogni-tion due to its intrinsic advantages on efficiency and speed.However,the existing event-based models for vision recogni-tion are faced with several issues,such as large network complexity and expensive training cost.In this paper,we propose an improved multi-liquid state machine(M-LSM)method for high-performance vision recognition.Specifically,we intro-duce two methods,namely multi-state fusion and multi-liquid search,to optimize the liquid state machine(LSM).Multi-state fusion by sampling the liquid state at multiple timesteps could reserve richer spatiotemporal information.We adapt network architecture search(NAS)to find the potential optimal architecture of the multi-liquid state machine.We also train the M-LSM through an unsupervised learning rule spike-timing dependent plasticity(STDP).Our M-LSM is evalu-ated on two event-based datasets and demonstrates state-of-the-art recognition performance with superior advantages on network complexity and training cost. 展开更多

Making flexible actuators has recently become a hot research topic in the field. In this study, we demonstrated the facile fabrication of a soft electromagnetic actuator using liquid metal coil of Ga-In alloys, and designed several illustrative mechanical devices, such as jellyfish like robot, soft fishtail and flexible manipulator. Measurements of the liquid metal coil's electrical properties confirmed that the liquid metal coil was mechanically stable under 48% uniaxial strains. Furthermore, the resistance of the liquid metal coil is stable under 60° bending deformation. Tests on the liquid metal coil's driving properties confirmed that the liquid metal coil(55 mm×55 mm×1 mm) could reach the maximum displacement amplitude of 21.5 mm with the current of 0.48 A. It was shown that the electromagnetic interaction between the magnet and the liquid metal coil enables the coil as a highly efficient actuator. The mechanisms lying behind were interpreted and future applications of such system were discussed. 展开更多
