Welding high-entropy alloy(HEA)to Mg alloy has gained increasing attention for multi-metal structure design,while intrinsic sluggish diffusion kinetics of HEA confines diffusion-controlled interfacial reactions and mak...Welding high-entropy alloy(HEA)to Mg alloy has gained increasing attention for multi-metal structure design,while intrinsic sluggish diffusion kinetics of HEA confines diffusion-controlled interfacial reactions and makes it challenging to establish robust metallurgical bonding.This study investigated welding of FeCoCrNiMn HEA to commercial AZ31 as a model combination to pioneer thisfield.Interfacial phase separation phenomenon was observed,with the diffusion accelerated by in-situ engineering a submicron-scale thick(∼400–500 nm)HEA nearby the interface into nanocrystalline-structure during friction stir welding.Abundant grain boundaries generated in this nanocrystalline-interlayer serve as diffusion short-circuits and energetically preferred nucleation-sites,which promoted Al in AZ31 to diffuse into HEA and triggered quick separation into body-centered cubic AlNi-type and tetragonal FeCr-type intermetallics.HEA and AZ31 were thus metallurgically bonded by these interfacial intermetallics.The joint shows exceptional strength in tensile lap-shear testing with fracture largely occurred within AZ31 rather than right along interface as commonly reported previously for dissimilar joints.展开更多

The results show that the friction coefficient mainly experiences two steady stages. The first steady stage corresponds to the Coulomb friction with material abrasion. The second steady stage corresponds to the stick friction with fully plastic flow. Moreover, the increasing rates of axial displacement, temperature and friction coefficient are obviously enhanced with the increase of rotation speed and axial pressure. It can also be found that the there exists rapid diffusion phenomenon in the Mg-Ti friction welding system. The large deformation activated diffusion coefficient is about 105 higher than that activated by thermal.展开更多

Scanning electron microscopy examination, shear tests and microhardness e...7075 Al alloy and AZ31B Mg alloy were joined by diffusion welding technique at pressure 29 MPa with various welding temperatures and durations. Scanning electron microscopy examination, shear tests and microhardness evaluation were conducted on the samples interface to find out the effect of welding temperatures and durations on the weldability. The results demonstrate that the AZ31B Mg/7075 Al composite plates are bonded well and the intermetallic phases such as Al_(12)Mg_(17) and Al_(3)Mg_(2) within the joint zone form. It is found that due to the grain coarsening and the formation of brittle compounds, high welding temperatures and long welding durations result in a decrease of shear strength and increase of interfacial welding hardness. The minimum shear strength of 15 MPa along with the maximum microhardness of HV 176 are obtained for the diffusion couple processed at 450 °C for 120 min. It is revealed that enhancing the temperature and choosing appropriate holding time makes a remarkable increase of interfacial welding thickness. Increasing the welding temperature from 430 to 450 °C along with long welding duration(120 min) results in the increase of interfacial welding thickness by 26% where this value is 6% at the welding performed for 60 min.展开更多

The effect of welding residual stress on hydrogen diffusion has been discussed using a 3-D sequential coupling finite element analysis procedure complied by Abaqus code. The hydrogen diffusion coefficient in weld metal, the heat affected zone (HAZ), and the base metal of the 16MnR steel weldment were measured using the electrochemical permeation technique. The hydrogen diffusion without the effect of stress was also calculated and compared. Owing to the existence of welding residual stress, the hydrogen concentration was obviously increased and the hydrogen wouM diffuse and accumulate in the higher stress region.展开更多

The results show that in aging0Cr6Mn13Ni10MoTi/1Cr5Mo dissimilar welded joints, the main carbides are M_3C and a few carbides are M_7C_3 andM_(23)C_6. The M_3C carbide decomposition and dissolution with increasing aging time or aging temperature and theanti-diffusion of C and Cr cause the decrease and disappearance of the carbon-enriched zone. It is proved that this method has good fault tolerant ability and versatility and can overcome the shortage of the general experiment. By using a hybrid method which combines molecular dynamics simulation and classical diffusion the- ory, the thickness of the diffusion layer and the atomic concentration distribution across the welding interface are obtained. The results indicate that the concentration distribution curves at different times have a geometric similarity. According to the geometric similarity, the atomic concentration distribution at any time in explosive welding can be calculated. NisoTis0- Cu explosive welding and scanning electron microscope experiments are done to verify the results. The simulation results and the experimental results are in good agreement.展开更多

It is found that the Si diffusion behavior has a significant effect on the formation of interfacial intermetallic compounds. To analyze the Si diffusion behavior, a model for the prediction of the chemical potential for ternary alloy was established. According to the calculated results of the influence of the element content and temperature in Ti-Al-Si system on Si chemical potential, the diffusion behavior of Si element was analyzed for Ti dissolution and melting mode, which presents a good agreement with the experimental data. Further, formation mechanism of the interfacial intermetllic compound was clarified.展开更多

The interfacial structure and its effect on the resistivity of cross-layered silver-copper composite strip fabricated by hot-roll bonding and diffusion welding processes with the same specification were studied.Throug...The interfacial structure and its effect on the resistivity of cross-layered silver-copper composite strip fabricated by hot-roll bonding and diffusion welding processes with the same specification were studied.Through optical and scanning electron microscope analysis of metallographic structure of the diffusion region of interface,it is found that the thickness of the interfacial diffusion layer is related to the composite conditions.Under the condition of sufficient diffusion,the interface of silver-copper composite strip produced by diffusion welding process has a wider interfacial transition region and fine grain area.Due to the higher diffusion rate of copper atoms than that of silver atoms,copper atoms tend to aggregate at the silver boundaries to form a copper-rich second solid solution,which has a fixing and expanding effect during annealing.The fine grain area at the interface of the composite strip produced by diffusion welding process still exists after annealing treatment and reaches a width of 55-97μm.While the fine grain region at the interface of hot-rolled composite strips is mainly formed by crushing the surface under rolling pressure with less diffusion effect,it almost disappears after annealing.The resistivity of silver-copper composite strip increases with the extension of the interfacial diffusion region.The resistivity of hot-roll bonding composite strip is increased by about 4%higher than that of the theoretical calculation,while the resistivity of diffusion welding composite strip is increased by 6%.展开更多

The formula of...Hydrogen diffusion in the wall of hydrogenation reactor for three situations, i.e. operating, normal shutdown and abnormal shutdown, was numerically simulated based on the finite element program-ABAQUS. The formula of diffusion-induced stress was deduced for model of the thin walled cylinder. Distribution of diffusion-induced stress in the wall of hydrogenation reactor was studied. The results showed that the maximum stress was at the fusion surface between welding overlay and base metal and which would increase with cooling rate. The crack will initiate and propagate from fusion surface to welding overlay when the diffusion-induced stress is higher than yield stress, but it will not propagate to the base metal. Diffusion-induced stress is one of the important factors for crack initiation and propagation of welding overlay of hydrogenation reactor.展开更多

文摘SiCp/2014Al composites were bonded with the vacuum diffusion welding technique using Ni as the interlayer metal. Ni and Al were interdiffused and there were intermetallic compounds formed in the inter transition layer, which was composed of Ni3Al//NiAl//NiAl3. The relation between the diffusion distance and the element concentration was calculated according to Fick's second law. The relations of the diffusion concentration and the diffusion welding technique parameters were calculated.
文摘Tensile strength of diffusion welded joint of aluminum matrix composite is very low due to its poor weld- ability.In this paper, solution and age treatments were conducted on the welded joint of Al2O3p/ 6061Al composite subjected to diffusion welding using Gleeble 1500 machine, and ensile strength and microstructure of welded joint aged at175℃ were measured and analyzed respectively, Results showed that aging precipitation of welded joint is promoted effectively because of redistribution of reinforcement and a few number of dislocations in the matrix of weld zone resulting from welding pressure,and hence tensile strength of welded joint is increased significantly after aging treatment.

文摘The liquid-phase-impacting (LPI) diffusion welding mechanism and microstructure of welded joint of aluminum matrixcomposite SiCp/101A have been studied. It shows that by LPl diffusion welding, the interface state between SiCparticle and matrix is prominent, the harmful microstructure or brittle phase can be restrained from the welded joint.Moreover, the density of dislocation in the matrix near the interface and in the matrix are all so higher than that ofparent composite, the dislocation entwists each other intensively resulted in welding the composite successfully.

文摘In laser welding-brazing of Al alloy (5A06) and Ti alloy (Ti-6Al-4V) with rectangular CO2 laser spot and with Al-12Si filler wire, element Si enriches at the interface between Ti substrate and the filler metal. It is found that the Si diffusion behavior has a significant effect on the formation of interfacial intermetallic compounds. To analyze the Si diffusion behavior, a model for the prediction of the chemical potential for ternary alloy was established. According to the calculated results of the influence of the element content and temperature in Ti-Al-Si system on Si chemical potential, the diffusion behavior of Si element was analyzed for Ti dissolution and melting mode, which presents a good agreement with the experimental data. Further, formation mechanism of the interfacial intermetllic compound was clarified.

文摘Microstructure and alloy element distribution in the welded joint between austenitic stainless steel (1Cr18Ni9Ti) and pearlitic heat-resistant steel (1Cr5Mo) were researched by means of light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA). Microstructure, divisions of the fusion zone and elemental diffusion distributions in the welded joints were investigated. Furthermore, solidification microstructure and S-ferrite distribution in the weld metal of these steels are also discussed.

文摘The interfacial structure and its effect on the resistivity of cross-layered silver-copper composite strip fabricated by hot-roll bonding and diffusion welding processes with the same specification were studied.Through optical and scanning electron microscope analysis of metallographic structure of the diffusion region of interface,it is found that the thickness of the interfacial diffusion layer is related to the composite conditions.Under the condition of sufficient diffusion,the interface of silver-copper composite strip produced by diffusion welding process has a wider interfacial transition region and fine grain area.Due to the higher diffusion rate of copper atoms than that of silver atoms,copper atoms tend to aggregate at the silver boundaries to form a copper-rich second solid solution,which has a fixing and expanding effect during annealing.The fine grain area at the interface of the composite strip produced by diffusion welding process still exists after annealing treatment and reaches a width of 55-97μm.While the fine grain region at the interface of hot-rolled composite strips is mainly formed by crushing the surface under rolling pressure with less diffusion effect,it almost disappears after annealing.The resistivity of silver-copper composite strip increases with the extension of the interfacial diffusion region.The resistivity of hot-roll bonding composite strip is increased by about 4%higher than that of the theoretical calculation,while the resistivity of diffusion welding composite strip is increased by 6%.

文摘Hydrogen diffusion in the wall of hydrogenation reactor for three situations, i.e. operating, normal shutdown and abnormal shutdown, was numerically simulated based on the finite element program-ABAQUS. The formula of diffusion-induced stress was deduced for model of the thin walled cylinder. Distribution of diffusion-induced stress in the wall of hydrogenation reactor was studied. The results showed that the maximum stress was at the fusion surface between welding overlay and base metal and which would increase with cooling rate. The crack will initiate and propagate from fusion surface to welding overlay when the diffusion-induced stress is higher than yield stress, but it will not propagate to the base metal. Diffusion-induced stress is one of the important factors for crack initiation and propagation of welding overlay of hydrogenation reactor.

文摘The weldability of SiCw/6061Al -was investigated. From the results of experiments, it is found that the strength of joint is mainly influenced by welding temperature, and high strength of joint is obtained under melding temperature between liquidus and solidus of matrix alloy. Diffusion welding of SiCw/6061Al was successfully realized with appropriate ivelding parameters.

文摘Through the vacuum diffusion welding SiCp/ZL 101 aluminum with Cu interlayer,the effect of welding parameter and the thickness of Cu on the welded joint property wasinvestigated, and the optimal welding parameters were put forward at the same time. Themicrostructure of joint was analyzed by means of optical-microscope, scanning electron microscope inorder to study the relationship between the macro-properties of joint and the microstructure. Theresults show that diffusion welding with Cu interlayer could be used for welding aluminum matrixcomposites SiCp/ZL 101 successfully.
