When Wenfeng7 was treated with 0.3%(W/V) NaCl for 3 d, the H +-ATPase activities in PM and TP from roots and leaves exhibited a reduction and an enhancement, respectively. The H +-PPase activity in TP from roots also increased. Similar effects were not observed in roots of Union. In addition, the increases of phospholipid content and ratios of phospholipid to galactolipid in PM and TP from roots and leaves of Wenfeng7 may also change membrane permeability and hence affect salt tolerance.展开更多

These groups were compared with healthy persons as a control group. Separation of the lipid component containing in the serum of two groups under study for diabetes mellitus patient--type lI before and after treatment with polyherbs by patients were performed. The separation of the components of different kinds of lipid parts like cholesterol ester (CE), triglyceride and phospholipids, in the blood using thin layer chromatography (TLC) and capillary gas chromatography (CGC). The results of this study for ester cholesterol part of serum patients show that there was a significant increase in the percentage of saturated fatty acid (SFA) and monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) before the treatment of the two groups compared to the control group and a significant decrease was observed in the percentage of these fatty acid after the treatment by polyherbal mixture than the percentage before treatment. Also, the results for the same part of ester cholesterol serum were showed a significant decrease in percentage of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) in the two groups of diabetes mellitus patients in comparison with the control group and there were a significant increase observed in PUFA percentage after the treatment. For triglyceride part in serum lipid, the results of this study were shown that there was a significant increase in percentage of SFA and PUFA before treatment in comparison with control group and after treatment for three months of the two groups of patients, shows a significant decrease in SFA but an increase in the percentage of PUFA was observed than that observed before treatment, also, there was a significant decrease in MUFA before treatment comparison with control group, while there was a significant increase which was observed after treatment in a percentage for the two groups of triglyceride part in serum lipid. The results indicated that there was a significant decrease in percentage of SFA before and after also in MUFA after the treatment in both groups compared with control and a significantly increase in PUFA percentage was also shown for phospholipids part in the serum.展开更多

VG28 and its wild type Zhonghuau. Native green gel and SDS-PAGE electrophoreses revealed that the mutant VG28 lacked all light-harvesting chlorophyll a/b protein complexes. Both the mutant and wild type were sensitive to high temperatures, and the maximal efficiency of PSII photochemistry (FJ Fm) and oxygen-evolving activity of PSII in leaves significantly decreased with increasing temperature. However, the PSII activity of the mutant was markedly more sensitive to high temperatures than that of the wild type. Lipid composition analysis showed that the mutant had less phosphatidylglycerol and sulfoquinovosyl diacylglycerol compared with the wild type. Fatty acid analysis revealed that the mutant had an obvious decrease in the content of 16:1t and a marked increase in the content of 18:3 compared with the wild type. The effects of lipid composition and unsaturation of membrane lipids on the thermostability of PSII are discussed.展开更多

Six cocoa clones from the gene banks of the Cameroon Cocoa Development Corporation were used to create hybrids. The determination of fatty acid composition was carried out by using a gas chromatography (GC) apparatus coupled by a flame ion detector (FID). Tocopherol and tocotrienol analysis was performed by upper high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC). Information on the impact of the genotype on the cocoa fat composition was provided. The major fatty acids (FA) in fermented samples are stearic (34.57%), palmitic (26.13%), oleic (34.13%) and linoleic (3.16%) acids. (35.05% to 35.6%). SCA12 × ICS40, SCA12 × SNK13, SNK13 × T79/501 have the least hard cocoa butters. Tocopherols analysis showed a predominance of γ-tocopherols (94.64 ± 1.51 to 292.16 ± 3.17 µg∙g−1), whereas only a small amount of β and δ-tocopherol (from 0.46 to 2.78 µg∙g−1 and 0.12 to 5.82 respectively) was observed. No γ-tocotrienol was found in fermented samples. A differentiation in terms of total fat and tocopherol content was observed amongst hybrids with the same mother-clone, suggesting an impact of pollen on these compounds.展开更多

MethOds The superoxide dismutase activities and lipids composltion of erythrocytes in 18 patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and 16 healthy controls were measured. Results Superoxide dlsmutase(SOD) activites of erythrocytes were lower in dilated cardiomyopathy(DCM) patients than that in healthy controls (P <o. oo1 ). The lipids composition of erythrocytes has changed in the DCM patients compared with healthy controls: total liplds changed little (P >o. o5); total phospholipids were lower, but not significantly (P>o. o5): total cholesterol increased significantly (P <o. o5). The cholesterol to phospholipids molecular ratio of erythrocyte membrane has increased remarkably (P >o. o5). Conclusion It can be supposed that decreased SOD activitles play an important role in the damage or membrane system and the pathogensis of DCM.展开更多

METHODS: Gallbladder bile was obtained from patients with Crohn's disease who were admitted for elective surgery (27 with ileal/ileocolonic disease and 7 with Crohn's colitis). Fourteen gallstone patients served as controls. Duodenal bile was obtained from ten healthy subjects before and after the treatment with ursodeoxycholic acid. Bile was analyzed for biliary lipids, bile acids, bilirubin, crystals, and crystal detection time (CDT). Cholesterol saturation index was calculated. RESULTS: The biliary concentration of bilirubin was about 50% higher in patients with Crohn's disease than in patients with cholesterol gallstones. Ten of the patients with Crohn's disease involving ileum and three of those with Crohn's colitis had cholesterol saturated bile. Four patients with ileal disease and one of those with colonic disease displayed cholesterol crystals in their bile. About 1/3 of the patients with Crohn's disease had a short CDT. Treatment of healthy subjects with ursodeoxycholic acid did not increase the concentration of bilirubin in duodenal bile. Several patients with Crohn's disease, with or without ileal resection/disease had gallbladder bile supersaturated with cholesterol and short CDT and contained cholesterol crystals. The biliary concentration of bilirubin was also increased in patients with Crohn's colitis probably not due to bile acid malabsorption. CONCLUSION: Several factors may be of importance for the high risk of developing gallstones of both cholesterol and pigment types in patients with Crohn's disease. The skillful technical assistance of Ms Lisbet Benthin and Ms Ingela Arvidsson is acknowledged.展开更多
