Quantum link models(QLMs)serve as experimentally accessible platforms for studying lattice gauge theories with finite-dimensional Hilbert spaces.In this work,we investigate information scrambling in the partially conf...Quantum link models(QLMs)serve as experimentally accessible platforms for studying lattice gauge theories with finite-dimensional Hilbert spaces.In this work,we investigate information scrambling in the partially confined phase of a spin-1 quantum link model by calculating the dynamics of out-of-time-ordered correlators(OTOCs)and entanglement entropy.We observe that,in the partially confined phase,information scrambling exhibits significant asymmetry,manifested as the unidirectional propagation of both OTOCs and entanglement entropy.This phenomenon stands in stark contrast to the isotropic spreading observed in the deconfined phase and the localization characteristic of the confined phase.Furthermore,the simultaneous occurrence of the unidirectional propagation of both OTOCs and entanglement entropy,together with the q-induced asymmetric excitation propagation,reveals a direct connection between information scrambling and charge confinement.展开更多

The deformation behavior of polymeric gels was often described based on the Flory-Rehner free energy function without considering the influence of chain entanglements on the mechanical behavior of gels. In this paper,a new hybrid free energy function for gels is formulated by combining the EdwardsVilgis slip-link model and the Flory-Huggins mixing model to quantify the time-dependent concurrent process of large deformation and mass transport. The finite element method is developed to analyze examples of swelling-induced deformation. Simulation results are compared with available experimental data and show good agreement. The influence of entanglements on the time-dependent deformation behavior of gels is also demonstrated.The study of large deformation kinetics of polymeric gel is useful for diverse applications.展开更多

We study the phenomena of preferential linking in a large-scale evolving online social network and find that the linear preference holds for preferential creation, preferential acceptance, and preferential attachment....We study the phenomena of preferential linking in a large-scale evolving online social network and find that the linear preference holds for preferential creation, preferential acceptance, and preferential attachment. Based on the linear preference, we propose an analyzable model, which illustrates the mechanism of network growth and reproduces the process of network evolution. Our simulations demonstrate that the degree distribution of the network produced by the model is in good agreement with that of the real network. This work provides a possible bridge between the micro=mechanisms of network growth and the macrostructures of online social networks.展开更多

How to query Linked Data effectively is a challenge due to its heterogeneous datasets.There are three types of heterogeneities,i.e.,different structures representing entities,different predicates with the same meaning...How to query Linked Data effectively is a challenge due to its heterogeneous datasets.There are three types of heterogeneities,i.e.,different structures representing entities,different predicates with the same meaning and different literal formats used in objects.Approaches based on ontology mapping or Information Retrieval(IR) cannot deal with all types of heterogeneities.Facing these limitations,we propose a hierarchical multi-hop language model(HMPM).It discriminates among three types of predicates,descriptive predicates,out-associated predicates and in-associated predicates,and generates multi-hop models for them respectively.All predicates' similarities between the query and entity are organized into a hierarchy,with predicate types on the first level and predicates of this type on the second level.All candidates are ranked in ascending order.We evaluated HMPM in three datasets,DBpedia,Linked MDB and Yago.The results of experiments show that the effectiveness and generality of HMPM outperform the existing approaches.展开更多
Select link analysis provides information of where traffic comes from and goes to at selected links.This disaggregate information has wide applications in practice.The state-of-the-art planning software packages often...Select link analysis provides information of where traffic comes from and goes to at selected links.This disaggregate information has wide applications in practice.The state-of-the-art planning software packages often adopt the user equilibrium(UE) model for select link analysis.However,empirical studies have repeatedly revealed that the stochastic user equilibrium model more accurately predicts observed mean and variance of choices than the UE model.This paper proposes an alternative select link analysis method by making use of the recently developed logit–weibit hybrid model,to alleviate the drawbacks of both logit and weibit models while keeping a closed-form route choice probability expression.To enhance the applicability in large-scale networks,Bell’s stochastic loading method originally developed for logit model is adapted to the hybrid model.The features of the proposed method are twofold:(1) unique O–D-specific link flow pattern and more plausible behavioral realism attributed to the hybrid route choice model and(2) applicability in large-scale networks due to the link-based stochastic loading method.An illustrative network example and a case study in a large-scale network are conducted to demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed select link analysis method as well as applications of O–D-specific link flow information.A visualizationmethod is also proposed to enhance the understanding of O–D-specific link flow originally in the form of a matrix.展开更多

This paper presents a novel adaptive nonlinear model predictive control design for trajectory tracking of flexible-link manipulators consisting of feedback linearization, linear model predictive control, and unscented...This paper presents a novel adaptive nonlinear model predictive control design for trajectory tracking of flexible-link manipulators consisting of feedback linearization, linear model predictive control, and unscented Kalman filtering. Reducing the nonlinear system to a linear system by feedback linearization simplifies the optimization problem of the model predictive controller significantly, which, however, is no longer linear in the presence of parameter uncertainties and can potentially lead to an undesired dynamical behaviour. An unscented Kalman filter is used to approximate the dynamics of the prediction model by an online parameter estimation, which leads to an adaptation of the optimization problem in each time step and thus to a better prediction and an improved input action. Finally, a detailed fuzzy-arithmetic analysis is performed in order to quantify the effect of the uncertainties on the control structure and to derive robustness assessments. The control structure is applied to a serial manipulator with two flexible links containing uncertain model parameters and acting in three-dimensional space.展开更多
Molten iron temperature as well as Si, P, and S contents is the most essential molten iron quality (MIQ) indices in the blast furnace (BF) ironmaking, which requires strict monitoring during the whole ironmaking p...Molten iron temperature as well as Si, P, and S contents is the most essential molten iron quality (MIQ) indices in the blast furnace (BF) ironmaking, which requires strict monitoring during the whole ironmaking production. However, these MIQ parameters are difficult to be directly measured online, and large-time delay exists in off-line analysis through laboratory sampling. Focusing on the practical challenge, a data-driven modeling method was presented for the prediction of MIQ using the improved muhivariable incremental random vector functional-link net- works (M-I-RVFLNs). Compared with the conventional random vector functional-link networks (RVFLNs) and the online sequential RVFLNs, the M-I-RVFLNs have solved the problem of deciding the optimal number of hidden nodes and overcome the overfitting problems. Moreover, the proposed M I RVFLNs model has exhibited the potential for multivariable prediction of the MIQ and improved the terminal condition for the multiple-input multiple-out- put (MIMO) dynamic system, which is suitable for the BF ironmaking process in practice. Ultimately, industrial experiments and contrastive researches have been conducted on the BF No. 2 in Liuzhou Iron and Steel Group Co. Ltd. of China using the proposed method, and the results demonstrate that the established model produces better estima ting accuracy than other MIQ modeling methods.展开更多

With the use of cubic B-splinc function as a link’s transverse deflection interpolation function, the principle of virtual displacement is presented as a basic theory for the general formulation of the equations of motion, and thus abandoned the kinematic assumption and the instantaneous structure assumption which arc used in the Spline Model Method. In thc same time, the nonlinear terms sue as coupling terms between thc rigid body motion and elastic deformation arc included. New member’s spline models are established. Mass matrix, Coriolis mass matrix, normal and tangential mass matrix, linear stiffness matrix, nonlinear stiffness matrix and rotation matrix arc derived. The kinematic differential equations of a member and system are deduced in the end. The Newmark direct integration method is used as the solution scheme of the kinematic differential equations to get the periodic response.展开更多
