The horizontal convection in a square enclosure driven by a linear temperature profile along the bottom boundary is investigated numerically by using a finite difference method.The Prandtl number is fixed at 4.38,and ...The horizontal convection in a square enclosure driven by a linear temperature profile along the bottom boundary is investigated numerically by using a finite difference method.The Prandtl number is fixed at 4.38,and the Rayleigh number Ra ranges from107 to 1011.The convective flow is steady at a relatively low Rayleigh number,and no thermal plume is observed,whereas it transits to be unsteady when the Rayleigh number increases beyond the critical value.The scaling law for the Nusselt number Nu changes from Rossby’s scaling Nu~Ra^(1/5)in a steady regime to Nu~Ra^(1/4)in an unsteady regime,which agrees well with the theoretically predicted results.Accordingly,the Reynolds number Re scaling varies from Re~Ra^(3/11)to Re~Ra^(2/5).The investigation on the mean flows shows that the thermal and kinetic boundary layer thickness and the mean temperature in the bulk zone decrease with the increasing Ra.The intensity of fluctuating velocity increases with the increasing Ra.展开更多
This paper describes a simple method of generating concentration gradients with linear and parabolic profiles by using a Christmas tree-shaped microfluidic network.The microfluidic gradient generator consists of two p...This paper describes a simple method of generating concentration gradients with linear and parabolic profiles by using a Christmas tree-shaped microfluidic network.The microfluidic gradient generator consists of two parts:a Christmas tree-shaped network for gradient generation and a broad microchannel for detection.A two-dimensional model was built to analyze the flow field and the mass transfer in the microfluidic network.The simulating results show that a series of linear and parabolic gradient profiles were generated via adjusting relative flow rate ratios of the two source solutions(R_L^2≥0.995 and _PR^2≥0.999),which could match well with the experimental results(R_L^2≥0.987 and _PR^2≥0.996).The proposed method is promising for the generation of linear and parabolic concentration gradient profiles,with the potential in chemical and biological applications such as combinatorial chemistry synthesis,stem cell differentiation or cytotoxicity assays.展开更多

When the dimensionless time is less than 0.1, its relativeerror is up to 95%. In this paper a new concentration profile is proposed, and then a newmodified LDF model (MLDF) is deduced. Compared with the exact solution ofintraparticle diffusion equation, the transient volume-average amount adsorbedcalculated from the MLDF is more accurate than that calculaled from the LDF modeL .Ifone takes ±10% relative error for the limit of validity of approximation, the new model isvalid when the dimensionless time is just larger than 0. 0002, while the LDF model is notvalid until the dimension time is large than 0.05. The new model is superior to the LDFmodel. The new concentration profiles corresponding to the MLDF model are much closeto the exact concentration profiles within a particle than the parabolic propescorresponding to the LDF model.展开更多

After ima...To eliminate rotation deviation of sequential images mosaic when measuring linear dimensions of large scale parts with computer vision, a novel algorithm based on the chain code searching method is proposed. After image preprocessing, including image filtering, image segmentation, and edge detection, the chain code length of the contour line can be searched out by the proposed method. Then, the angle from the contour line to the coordinate axis is computed with the length of the contour line. After that, the sequence is rotated in the opposite direction and the rotation deviation is eliminated. It is prepared for the next mosaic of sequences in eliminating shifting deviation. Experiments are carried out on parts with a linear profile rotating angle from 0° to 9°. The results show that compared with the commonly used Hough transform, the new method has higher precision and faster speed, which is important in realizing online high precision measurements of large scale parts with a linear profile.展开更多
Side-channel attacks(SCAs)play an important role in the security evaluation of cryptographic devices.As a form of SCAs,profiled differential power analysis(DPA)is among the most powerful and efficient by taking advant...Side-channel attacks(SCAs)play an important role in the security evaluation of cryptographic devices.As a form of SCAs,profiled differential power analysis(DPA)is among the most powerful and efficient by taking advantage of a profiling phase that learns features from a controlled device.Linear regression(LR)based profiling,a special profiling method proposed by Schindler et al.,could be extended to generic-emulating DPA(differential power analysis)by on-the-fly profiling.The formal extension was proposed by Whitnall et al.named SLR-based method.Later,to improve SLR-based method,Wang et al.introduced a method based on ridge regression.However,the constant format of L-2 penalty still limits the performance of profiling.In this paper,we generalize the ridge-based method and propose a new strategy of using variable regularization.We then analyze from a theoretical point of view why we should not use constant penalty format for all cases.Roughly speaking,our work reveals the underlying mechanism of how different formats affect the profiling process in the context of side channel.Therefore,by selecting a proper regularization,we could push the limits of LR-based profiling.Finally,we conduct simulation-based and practical experiments to confirm our analysis.Specifically,the results of our practical experiments show that the proper formats of regularization are different among real devices.展开更多

文摘To eliminate rotation deviation of sequential images mosaic when measuring linear dimensions of large scale parts with computer vision, a novel algorithm based on the chain code searching method is proposed.
