Ancient Sichuan Salt Road(the ancient road for the transportation of Sichuan salt) is a cultural route characterized by salt transportation culture in southwest and central-west China, along which a large number of diversifi ed and systematic cultural heritages have been left, including both tangible and intangible salt transportation cultural heritages such as ancient salt transportation road, salt shop, post house, stele inscription, ancient town, ancient bridge, guild hal, and boatmen's work songs. With the rapid economic and social development, the accelerating modernization and urbanization, and also drastic changes of traffi c environment have contributed to the endangered situation of ancient Sichuan salt road cultural heritage. In face of such problems as lack of coordinated protection mechanism, destructive development, backward protection of cultural relics, and inheritance risks of intangible heritage, cultural heritages along the ancient Sichuan salt road should be protected by establishing a protection mechanism, organizing the coordinated actions of local areas along the road, investigating and rescuing cultural heritage in time, and enhancing the cooperative research. In view of the complicate and long-term nature of protecting linear cultural heritage, successful experience of domestic and foreign cultural route heritage management can be learned, salt transportation cultural heritage protection, tourism planning and development of ancient Sichuan salt road should be considered, protection of the ancient salt road should be combined with economic, social and cultural development of regions along the road, so as to explore an effective mode for the protection, development and management of large-scale linear cultural heritages consisting of both land and water routes. 展开更多

Cultural heritage in the Yellow River Basin,as the product of harmonious human-land co-existence,is an important component of both the linear natural ecological landscape and the historic corridor.Focusing on the linear historic space in the Shaanxi section of the Yellow River Basin, this study employs quantitative analysis methods to assess the development potential of cultural heritage resources in the river basin, based on surveys, identification, and selection of cultural heritage sites in this region. The assessment considers multiple dimensions, including resource endowment, spatial distribution,economic-industrial foundation, transportation accessibility, and ecological environment. On this basis, the paper proposes protection and development strategies for the basin's cultural heritage from five perspectives:settlement heritage protection, spatial structure delineation, transportation and touring route planning, tourism system construction, and ecological protection and governance,in the hope of providing new insights for the high-quality development of the Yellow River National Cultural Park. 展开更多

The temporal-spatial pattern of linear cultural heritage in the context of the tourism industry is closely linked to heritage management.Using the 1800 km long Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal as an example, this study compared the dynamic evolution of tourism businesses in Beijing,Liaocheng, and Yangzhou at three time points(2010,2015,and 2019)via nearest neighbor analysis, kernel density estimation, and the standard deviational ellipse.Next,a Geo-detector was used to examine the influencing factors. The results reveal significant growth regardless of the quantity or agglomeration degree from 2010 to 2019,and the direction of industrial expansion is consistent with the flow direction of the canal. Moreover, the explanatory powers of factors related to socioeconomic development and canal resources are obviously stronger than those of the natural environment. The findings of this study offer theoretical constructs and policy recommendations for the sustainable development of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and other linear cultural heritage sites. 展开更多
