The research of complex networks facilitates the progress of various disciplines,including biology,chemistry,social science,computer,and communication engineering.Recently,it is popular to utilize complex networks to study the communication networks,such as designing efficient routing strategies and robust communication networks.However,exploiting the advantages of communication networks to investigate networks in various disciplines beyond telecommunications is still in infancy.Because of this situation,this paper proposes an information-defined network(IDN)framework by which a complex network can be abstracted as a communication network associated with multiple intelligent agents.Specifically,each component and dynamic process in this framework can be defined by information.We show that the IDN framework promotes the research of unsolved problems in the current complex network field,especially for detecting new interaction types in realworld networks. 展开更多

In this paper, we mainly study the preparation of an optical biosensor based on porous silicon(PSi) Bragg mirror and its feasibility for biological detection. The quantum dot(QD) labeled biotin was pipetted onto streptavidin functionalized PSi Bragg mirror samples, the affinity reaction between QD labeled biotin and streptavidin in PSi occurred, so the QDs were indirectly connected to the PSi. The fluorescence of QD enhanced the signal of biological reactions in PSi. The performance of the sensor is verified by detecting the fluorescence of the QD in PSi. Due to the fluorescence intensity of the QDs can be enhanced by PSi Bragg mirror, the sensitivity of the PSi optical biosensor will be improved. 展开更多

Epidemiological and Subtype Characterization of Influenza Viruses Infection in Children in Shenzhen, China during Three Consecutive Seasons (January 2016-December 2018)

A better understan... Background: Children with seasonal influenza infection cause a significant burden of disease each year in the pediatric clinic. Influenza A and B viruses are the major types responsible for illness. A better understanding of the periodicity facilitates the prevention and control of influenza in children. Objective: This study aims to analyze the epidemiological patterns and subtype characterization of influenza viruses among children in Shenzhen, China. Methods: Influenza samples were collected by nasopharyngeal swabs from influenza like illness patients in Shenzhen Children’s Hospital from January 2016 to December 2018. The positive cases and influenza subtypes were determined by gold labeled antigen detection and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. The influenza periodicity and age, subtype distribution as well as the association between climate parameters and different influenza subtypes were analyzed by SPSS 22.0. Results: The influenza positive rate during 2016-2018 was 21.0%, with a highest positive rate in the year 2018. The positive rate varied by month, season, and year describing a sequence of peaks presenting primarily in all year including spring, summer and winter. The characteristics of influenza peak were different in each year, with a spring peak in 2016 and a summer plus a winter-spring peaks in 2017 and 2018. In addition, influenza B exhibited a winter-spring seasonal pattern while influenza A displayed a more variable seasonality, highlighting influenza B rather than influenza A which had a negative association with climate parameters. Influenza-positive cases were older than influenza-negative cases (P P Conclusion: Influenza activity in children from Shenzhen typically displays both winter-spring and summer peaks. Influenza A epidemic occurred separately or co-circulated with influenza B, with a winter-spring pattern for influenza B and a much more variable seasonality for influenza A. Influenza B had a negative association with climate parameters. In addition, hospitalization with influenza often occurs in younger individuals infected with influenza A. 展开更多

Label-free detection of biological events at single-cell resolution in the brain can non-invasively capture brain status for medical diagnosis and basic neuroscience research.NADH is an universal coenzyme that not only plays a central role in cellular metabolism but may also be used as a biomarker to capture metabolic processes in brain cells and structures.We have developed a new label-free,multiphoton photoacoustic microscope(LF-MP-PAM)with a near-infrared femtosecond laser to observe endogenous NAD(P)H in living cells.The imaging depth of NAD(P)H in tissues with all-optical methods is limited to~100μm in brain tissue by the strong absorption of the near-ultraviolet fluorescence.Here,acoustic detection of the thermal signature of multi-photon(three-photon)excitation of NAD(P)H,a low quantum yield fluorophore,allows detection at an unprecedented depth while the focused excitation ensures high spatial resolution.We validated the photoacoustic detection of NAD(P)H by monitoring an increase in intracellular NAD(P)H in HEK293T cells and HepG2 cells incubated in NADH solution.We also demonstrated the detection of endogenous NAD(P)H photoacoustic signals in brain slices to 700μm depth and in cerebral organoids to 1100μm depth.Finally,we developed and demonstrated simultaneous photoacoustic and optical imaging of NAD(P)H in brain cells with a real-time image acquisition and processing pipeline.This approach could open a new door to monitor brain metabolic changes during development and disease,and changes due to neuronal activity,at single-cell level deep in the brains of both humans and animals. 展开更多

In this work, the application of a conducting polymer, poly(thionine), modified electrode as matrix to DNA immobilization as well as transducer to label-free DNA hybridization detection was introduced. The electropolymerization of thionine onto electrode surface was carried out by a simple two-step method, which involved a preanodization of glassy carbon electrode at a constant positive potential in thionine solution following cyclic voltammetry scans in the solution. Electrochemical detection was performed by differential pulse voltammetry in the electroactivity potential domain of poly(thionine). The resulting poly(thionine) modified electrode showed a good stability and electroactivity in aqueous media during a near neutral pH range. Additionally, the pendant amino groups on the poly(thionine) chains enabled poly(thionine) modified electrode to immobilize phosphate group terminated DNA probe via covalent linkage. Hybridization process induced a clear decrease in poly(thionine) redox current, which was corresponding to the decrease in poly(thionine) electroactivity after double stranded DNA was formed on the polymer film. The detection limit of this electrochemical DNA hybridization sensor was 1.0 × 10^-10mol/L. Compared with complementary sequence, the hybridization signal values of 1-base mismatched and 3-base mismatched samples were 63.9% and 9.2%, respectively. 展开更多

In order to alleviate the impact of radio frequency interference(RFI)on the accuracy of ocean salinity satellite remote sensing,scholars have proposed various detection and labeling algorithms for RFI based on remote sensing data from the SMOS satellite.However,the signals that generate RFI are diverse,and the factors that influence remote sensing observation data are complex.Existing algorithms often target specific hypothetical conditions,lacking general applicability,which frequently leads to an important gap between the nominal performance of the literature and practical applications,posing great challenges to data labeling work.To address this problem,this study conducted a comprehensive and systematic analysis of RFI simulation based on scene modeling,algorithm modeling,and RFI energy modeling.Three typical RFI detection algorithms were selected,and the simulation scene was divided into 3 typical scenes:ocean,land,and sea–land scenes,and RFI was analyzed in terms of weak,moderate,strong,and extremely strong based on energy.Through simulation analysis and evaluation of RFI detection algorithms,lookup tables for algorithm selection,detection rate,and false-positive rate have been established for different intensities of independent RFI sources and multiple nearby RFI sources in the above scenario.These lookup tables have universal guiding significance and provide reliability assurance in complex situations. 展开更多
