In recent years,the exploitation of offshore wind resources has been attached with greater importance.As a result,semi-submersible floating wind turbines(FWTs)have gradually become a popular research topic,with the st...In recent years,the exploitation of offshore wind resources has been attached with greater importance.As a result,semi-submersible floating wind turbines(FWTs)have gradually become a popular research topic,with the structural strength being a research hotspot as it can ensure the safe operation of FWTs.The severe sea conditions of freak waves result in enormous wave heights,extremely fast wave speeds,and concentrated energy.Thus,it is difficult to accurately simulate these effects on the loads of floating wind turbines using the potential flow theory and other theories.In this paper,the structural strength of a floating wind turbine under the action of freak waves is analyzed based on the CFD-FEA coupled method.The effects of the mooring system and the wind load are considered in the time domain,and the CFD method is applied to analyze the wave load of the floating wind turbine under the extreme sea state of freak waves.The strength and motion of the floating wind turbine float structure are analyzed by combining the CFD method and the FEA method,and the analytical results of the mutual transfer of these two methods are taken as the initial quantities for further analysis.The accuracy of the analytical model of the CFD-FEA method is verified by the results of the tank test analysis,and the structural strength analysis under freak wave conditions is carried out for a new type of floating wind turbine.The results of this research provide useful guidance and references for the design and engineering applications of offshore floating wind turbines.展开更多
We studied the interactions between freak wave and bottom-mounted vertical cylinder.The freak wave is generated through linear superposition method which satisfies the definition that the wave height is at least two t...We studied the interactions between freak wave and bottom-mounted vertical cylinder.The freak wave is generated through linear superposition method which satisfies the definition that the wave height is at least two times the significant wave height.A numerical wave tank is developed based on FLUENT software in which the finite volume method is used for the spatial discretization.Grid sensitivity is conducted in 2D model,and then the freak wave is simulated in 3D model.The freak wave loads on the vertical cylinder are calculated and compared with the results obtained through Morison equation.The numerical results present larger peak and shallower trough compared with the prediction of Morison equation.Meanwhile,the free surface wave elevation within a radius distance around the vertical cylinder is investigated.The lowest wave run-up around vertical cylinder caused by freak wave is about 55%of the highest wave run-up,and the direction is about 45°of the wave propagation.展开更多
In order to forecast the distribution of crest amplitudes and the occurrence of freak waves in a short crested coastal sea,a novel transformed linear simulation method is initially proposed in this paper.A Hermite tra...In order to forecast the distribution of crest amplitudes and the occurrence of freak waves in a short crested coastal sea,a novel transformed linear simulation method is initially proposed in this paper.A Hermite transformation model expressed as a monotonic cubic polynomial serves as the foundation for the novel simulation technique.The wave crest amplitude exceedance probabilities of two sea states-one with a directional wave spectrum based on the measured wave elevation data at the Yura coast and the other with a typical directional JONSWAP wave spectrum-have been predicted using the novel simulation method that has been proposed.The likelihood that a particular critical wave crest amplitude will be exceeded is directly correlated with the probability that freak waves will occur.It is shown that the novel simulation approach suggested can provide predictions that are more precise than those obtained from the Rayleigh crest amplitude distribution model,the Jahns and Wheeler crest amplitude distribution model,or the conventional linear simulation method.This study also demonstrated that the nonlinear simulation method is less effective than the novel simulation method in terms of efficiency.展开更多
