The Regional Atmospheric Modeling System (RAMS) and the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes known as FLUENT are combinatorially applied in a multi-scale numerical simulation of the urban surface layer (USL). RAMS and FLUENT are combined as a multi-scale numerical modeling system, in which the RAMS simulated data are delivered to the computational model for FLUENT simulation in an offline way. Numerical simulations are performed to present and preliminarily validate the capability of the multi-scale modeling system, and the results show that the modeling system can reasonably provide information on the meteorological elements in an urban area from the urban scale to the city-block scale, especially the details of the turbulent flows within the USL. 展开更多

To address this problem, the computational fluid dynamics software FLUENT was applied to establish three-dimensional model of the centrifugal fan. The numeral model was verified by comparing simulation data to experimental data. The pressure centrifugal fan and the speed changes in distribution in centrifugal fan was simulated by computational fluid dynamics soft-ware FLUENT. The simulation results show that the gas flow velocity in the impeller increases with impeller radius increase. Static pressure gradually increases when gas from the fan access is imported through fan impeller leaving fans. 展开更多

The state-of-art Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) codes FLUENT is applied in a fine-scale simulation of the wind field over a complex terrain. Several numerical tests are performed to validate the capability of FLUENT on describing the wind field details over a complex terrain. The results of the numerical tests show that FLUENT can simulate the wind field over extremely complex terrain, which cannot be simulated by mesoscale models. The reason why FLUENT can cope with extremely complex terrain, which can not be coped with by mesoscale models, relies on some particular techniques adopted by FLUENT, such as computer-aided design (CAD) technique, unstructured grid technique and finite volume method. Compared with mesoscale models, FLUENT can describe terrain in much more accurate details and can provide wind simulation results with higher resolution and more accuracy. 展开更多

A two-dimensional axisymmetr... A new numerical approach is presented, which is used to simulate the dynamic process of metal transfer. The process of metal transfer in gas metal arc welding is simulated based on FLUENT. A two-dimensional axisymmetric numerical model is developed using volume of fluid method and the distributions of physical quantities including pressure, current density, electric potential in the droplet are investigated. For improving the veracity of the simulated results and decreasing the effect of the uncertain surface tension coefficient on the simulated results, the relationship between the welding current and surface tension coefficient is modified by analysis of regression. Meanwhile for testing the accuracy of simulated results, the welding experiments are performed and the high-speed photography system is used to record the real process of metal transfer. The results show that the simulated results are in reasonably good agreement with the experimental ones. 展开更多

In this paper,based on Fluent software,a five-nozzle gasifier reactor was established to simulate the gasification process of oil-based drill cuttings coal-water slurry.The influence of concentration and oxygen/carbon atomic ratio on the gasification process of oil-based drill cuttings coal-water slurry was investigated.The results show that when the oxygen flow is constant,the outlet temperature of gasifier decreases,the content of effective gas increases,and the carbon conversion rate decreases with the increase of concentration;When the ratio of oxygen to carbon atoms is constant,the effective gas content rises and the temperature rises with the increase of the concentration,and the carbon conversion rate reaches the maximum value when the concentration of oil-based drill cuttings coal-water slurry is 65%;When the concentration is constant,the effective gas content decreases and the outlet temperature rises with the increase of the oxygen/carbon atom ratio,and the carbon conversion rate reaches 99.80%when the oxygen/carbon atom ratio is 1.03.It shows that this method can effectively decompose the organic matter in oilbased drill cuttings and realize the efficient and cooperative treatment of oil-based drill cuttings. 展开更多

基于EDEM-FLUENT的气送式虾塘投饵车抛料机构优化设计

为解决现有投饵装备如固定式岸基投饲机和投饵船,存在的投饲范围有限、转塘不便等问题,该研究对气送式投饵车的抛料机构进行了优化设计。气送式投饵车可实现转塘及绕塘一周均匀投饵,通过设计的可调式抛料机构将饲料抛撒至规定区域。为... 为解决现有投饵装备如固定式岸基投饲机和投饵船,存在的投饲范围有限、转塘不便等问题,该研究对气送式投饵车的抛料机构进行了优化设计。气送式投饵车可实现转塘及绕塘一周均匀投饵,通过设计的可调式抛料机构将饲料抛撒至规定区域。为确定影响抛料机构抛料范围及饲料分布均匀性的最佳组合参数,基于EDEM-FLUENT耦合仿真,选取风机风速、抛料管倾斜角度、长度以及直径4个关键设计参数进行单因素试验,并根据单因素试验结果进行正交试验,对试验结果进行响应面分析和参数优化。研究结果表明,当风机风速为16.1 m/s,抛料管倾斜角度为8.117°、长度为424.16 mm、直径为41.57 mm时,3~5 m目标范围内饲料颗粒的覆盖率及分布均匀性均达到最佳状态。样机试验表明,气送式投饵车抛撒饲料至3~5 m范围内的覆盖率和均匀性与仿真结果的相对误差分别为5.4%、6.5%,符合定范围且均匀抛撒的预期要求。气送式投饵车可绕塘移动,将饲料较均匀地抛撒至规定距离范围,且满足一车多塘使用的功能性要求,弥补了现有户外虾塘投饲装备的不足,为虾塘投饲提供了更加均匀高效的解决方案。 展开更多

To analyse a possible way to improve the propulsion performance of ships,the unstructured grid and the Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes equations were used to calculate the performance of a propeller and rudder fitted with additional thrust fins in the viscous flow field.The computational fluid dynamics software FLUENT was used to simulate the thrust and torque coefficient as a function of the advance coefficient of propeller and the thrust efficiency of additional thrust fins. The pressure and velocity flow behind the propeller was calculated. The geometrical nodes of the propeller were constituted by FORTRAN program and the NUMBS method was used to create a configuration of the propeller,which was then used by GAMMBIT to generate the calculation model. The thrust efficiency of fins was calculated as a function of the number of additional fins and the attack angles. The results of the calculations agree fairly well with experimental data,which shows that the viscous flow solution we present is useful in simulating the performance of propellers and rudders with additional fins. 展开更多

Coupled simulation of BES-CFD and performance assessment of energy recovery ventilation system for office model 被引量:6

Thermal comfort and indoor air quality as well as the energy efficiency have been recognized as essential parts of sustainable building assessment. This work aims to analyze the energy conservation of the heat recovery ventilator and to investigate the effect of the air supply arrangement. Three types of mixing ventilation are chosen for the analysis of coupling ANSYS/FLUENT (a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) program) with TRNSYS (a building energy simulation (BES) software). The adoption of mutual complementary boundary conditions for CFD and BES provides more accurate and complete information of indoor air distribution and thermal performance in buildings. A typical office-space situated in a middle storey is chosen for the analysis. The office-space is equipped with air-conditioners on the ceiling. A heat recovery ventilation system directly supplies flesh air to the office space. Its thermal performance and indoor air distribution predicted by the coupled method are compared under three types of ventilation system. When the supply and return openings for ventilation are arranged on the ceiling, there is no critical difference between the predictions of the coupled method and BES on the energy consumption of HVAC because PID control is adopted for the supply air temperature of the occupied zone. On the other hand, approximately 21% discrepancy for the heat recovery estimation in the maximum between the simulated results of coupled method and BES-only can be obviously found in the floor air supply ventilation case. The discrepancy emphasizes the necessity of coupling CFD with BES when vertical air temperature gradient exists. Our future target is to estimate the optimum design of heat recovery ventilation system to control CO2 concentration by adjusting flow rate of flesh air. 展开更多

As industrialization accelerates and the amount of hazardous waste generated gradually increases,the means of disposal of hazardous waste is of increasing concern.In this paper,a 40 t/d counter-fow rotary kiln incineration system owned by a Jiangsu environmental protection company was researched.The software Aspen Plus was used to build the mixed pyrolysis model and the software Fluent was used to build the computational fuid dynamics model of the incineration system.The infuence of the calorifc value of the hazardous waste,the operating temperature and the air supply on the operational efectiveness of the incineration system were analyzed by varying the simulation conditions.The results show that the SO_(x)and NO_(x)content of the product is lower when the operating temperature is above 800℃.The incineration system could only operate above 800℃when the calorifc value of the hazardous waste is not less than 1500 kcal/kg.The incineration system operated best at a primary air velocity of 1.5 m/s.The simulation results in this paper serve as a guide for the operation of counter-fow rotary kiln incineration systems. 展开更多

In this paper numerical simulation of PRHR HX and IRWST is demonstrated using FLUENT, and different numbers of C-type heat transfer tubes and coolant inlet temperature’s effects for the residual heat removal capacity of PRHR HX, IRWST thermal stratification and natural circulation have been researched. It’s found that at a constant flow area when heat transfer tubes’ number increased outlet temperature of PRHR HX is lower, the whole water temperature of IRWST is higher, thermal stratification and natural circulation are more oblivious. At a constant mass flow when inlet temperature of PRHR HX increased, inlet flow velocity increases and outlet temperature is higher. But on the other hand the cooling rate increases at the same time, the average temperature of IRWST is higher, the range of thermal stratification expands and the velocity of natural circulation increases. 展开更多

The settling flux of biodeposition affects the environmental quality of cage culture areas and determines their environmental carrying capacity.Simple and effective simulation of the settling flux of biodeposition is extremely important for determining the spatial distribution of biodeposition.Theoretically,biodeposition in cage culture areas without specific emission rules can be simplified as point source pollution.Fluent is a fluid simulation software that can simulate the dispersion of particulate matter simply and efficiently.Based on the simplification of pollution sources and bays,the settling flux of biodeposition can be easily and effectively simulated by Fluent fluid software.In the present work,the feasibility of this method was evaluated by simulation of the settling flux of biodeposition in Maniao Bay,Hainan Province,China,and 20 sampling sites were selected for determining the settling fluxes.At sampling sites P1,P2,P3,P4,P5,Z1,Z2,Z3,Z4,A1,A2,A3,A4,B1,B2,C1,C2,C3 and C4,the measured settling fluxes of biodeposition were 26.02,15.78,10.77,58.16,6.57,72.17,12.37,12.11,106.64,150.96,22.59,11.41,18.03,7.90,19.23,7.06,11.84,5.19 and 2.57 g d^(−1)m^(−2),respectively.The simulated settling fluxes of biodeposition at the corresponding sites were 16.03,23.98,8.87,46.90,4.52,104.77,16.03,8.35,180.83,213.06,39.10,17.47,20.98,9.78,23.25,7.84,15.90,6.06 and 1.65 g d^(−1)m^(−2),respectively.There was a positive correlation between the simulated settling fluxes and measured ones(R=0.94,P=2.22×10^(−9)<0.05),which implies that the spatial differentiation of biodeposition flux was well simulated.Moreover,the posterior difference ratio of the simulation was 0.38,and the small error probability was 0.94,which means that the simulated results reached an acceptable level from the perspective of relative error.Thus,if nonpoint source pollution is simplified to point source pollution and open waters are simplified based on similarity theory,the setting flux of biodeposition in the open waters can be simply and effectively simulated by the fluid simulation software Fluent. 展开更多

The high temperature air combustion(HiTAC) process in gas suspension calcinations(GSC) was studied by using a CFD software FLUENT that can simulate the three-dimensional physical model of GSC with the k-epsilon turbulent viscous model, PDF non-premixed combustion species model, P1 radiation model, thermal and prompt NO pollution model. The simulation vividly describes the distributions of the temperature, velocity and consistency fields. Finally, the optimal operation conditions and igniter configuration of particular fuel combustion are obtained by analyzing and comparing the simulation results. And the emission quantity of NOx, CO and CO2 deduced from computation can play a role as reference. These optimal and estimated values are beneficial to practical operation. 展开更多

A common way to produce glass is to use melting tanks that work continually with several hundred tons per day.The process of efficiently melting,refining,and homogenizing the glass melt is strongly dependent on the flow patterns within the melting tank.In order to improve the quality of glass products and the efficiency of the melting process,it is necessary to control the flow patterns and to optimize the temperature distribution within the melting tank.Using Lorentz force to create additional flow components based on electric current density distributions and externally generated magnetic fields is an excellent method to obtain targeted and tailored flow influences.In order to evaluate this method,it is necessary to simulate the induced alterations of the melt flow.Such numerical simulations require the coupling of the electromagnetic and flow field calculations including the energy equation because the electrical conductivity of the molten glass is strongly dependent on the temperature.The idea is to include the calculation of the magnetic field completely into FLUENT using the so-called User Defined Scalars(UDS)and User Defined Functions(UDF). 展开更多

Atmospheric and oceanic drag are the main environmental forces controlling sea ice drift. Oceanic drag includes the form drag generated by water pressure gradients on the side of ice floes or on ice ridges, and the skin friction generated by viscous flow on the bottom of ice floes. In this study, we carried out a two-dimensional numerical simulation using FLUENT software to investigate the characteristics of dynamic flow under ice with a smooth undersurface. We studied water drag and flow field distribution below the ice under different conditions of ice draft and flow velocity, and the results agreed well with data from laboratory-based physical modeling tests, demonstrating the ability of the numerical model to reproduce the dynamic interactions between sea ice and the flow field. The degree of distortion in the flow field caused by ice increased as the ice draft increased. Vortexes occurred in the wake field of the floe, and the centers of the vortexes moved away from the ice with increasing ice draft. The simulated drag of water on ice showed a clear linear relationship with the square of the flow velocity. 展开更多
