The configuration of underground powerhouses is crucial in pumped-storage hydropower projects, which play a vital role in maintaining grid stability, facilitating the integration of renewable energy sources, and managing flood risks. However, geotechnical challenges, such as complex joint orientations, anisotropy in in-situ stress, and rock damage caused by excavation, require thorough stability assessments. This research employs the ubiquitous anisotropic joint model within FLAC3D to investigate the effects of joint dip angle, joint dip direction, and the alignment of in-situ stress on the stability of surrounding rock formations. The key parameters analyzed include joint cohesion, friction angle, and the magnitude of in-situ stress. The numerical results indicate that deformation is minimized when the axis of the powerhouse is aligned with the major principal stress.Furthermore, joint dip angles between 65°and 70°lead to a 50%reduction in both displacement and plastic zone volume.Additionally, angles less than 40°between the joint dip direction and the powerhouse axis enhance stability. These findings provide practical recommendations for optimizing the orientation of powerhouses in geomechanical contexts similar to those characterized by foliated sericite phyllite with moderate joint persistence. 展开更多

As a subtask of information extraction (IE), which aims to extract structured information from texts, event extraction is to recognize event trigger mentions of a predefined event type and their arguments. In general, event extraction can be divided into two subtasks: trigger extraction and argument extraction. Currently, the frequent existences of unannotated trigger mentions and poor-context trigger mentions impose critical challenges in Chinese trigger extraction. This paper proposes a novel three-layer joint model to integrate three components in trigger extraction, i.e., trigger identification, event type determination, and event subtype determination. In this way, different kinds of evidence on distinct pseudo samples can be well captured to eliminate the harmful effects of those un-annotated trigger mentions. In addition, this paper introduces various types of linguistically driven constraints on the trigger and argument semantics into the joint model to recover those poor-context trigger mentions. The experimental results show that our joint model significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art Chinese trigger extraction and Chinese event extraction as a whole. 展开更多

The coal-bearing strata of the deep Upper Paleozoic in the GS Sag have high hydrocarbon potential. Because of the absence of seismic data, we use electromagnetic (MT) and gravity data jointly to delineate the distribution of deep targets based on well logging and geological data. First, a preliminary geological model is established by using three-dimensional (3D) MT inversion results. Second, using the formation density and gravity anomalies, the preliminary geological model is modified by interactive inversion of the gravity data. Then, we conduct MT-constrained inversion based on the modified model to obtain an optimal geological model until the deviations at all stations are minimized. Finally, the geological model and a seismic profile in the middle of the sag is analysed. We determine that the deep reflections of the seismic profile correspond to the Upper Paleozoic that reaches thickness up to 800 m. The processing of field data suggests that the joint MT-gravity modeling and constrained inversion can reduce the multiple solutions for single geophysical data and thus improve the recognition of deep formations. The MT-constrained inversion is consistent with the geological features in the seismic section. This suggests that the joint MT and gravity modeling and constrained inversion can be used to delineate deep targets in similar basins. 展开更多

Metal magnetic memory(MMM) testing has been widely used to detect welded joints. However, load levels, environmental magnetic field, and measurement noises make the MMM data dispersive and bring difficulty to quantitative evaluation. In order to promote the development of quantitative MMM reliability assessment, a new MMM model is presented for welded joints. Steel Q235 welded specimens are tested along the longitudinal and horizontal lines by TSC-2M-8 instrument in the tensile fatigue experiments. The X-ray testing is carried out synchronously to verify the MMM results. It is found that MMM testing can detect the hidden crack earlier than X-ray testing. Moreover, the MMM gradient vector sum K_(vs) is sensitive to the damage degree, especially at early and hidden damage stages. Considering the dispersion of MMM data, the K_(vs) statistical law is investigated, which shows that K_(vs) obeys Gaussian distribution. So K_(vs) is the suitable MMM parameter to establish reliability model of welded joints. At last, the original quantitative MMM reliability model is first presented based on the improved stress strength interference theory. It is shown that the reliability degree R gradually decreases with the decreasing of the residual life ratio T, and the maximal error between prediction reliability degree R_1 and verification reliability degree R_2 is 9.15%. This presented method provides a novel tool of reliability testing and evaluating in practical engineering for welded joints. 展开更多

In cancer clinical trials and other medical studies, both longitudinal measurements and data on a time to an event(survival time) are often collected from the same patients. Joint analyses of these data would improve the efficiency of the statistical inferences. We propose a new joint model for the longitudinal proportional measurements which are restricted in a finite interval and survival times with a potential cure fraction. A penalized joint likelihood is derived based on the Laplace approximation and a semiparametric procedure based on this likelihood is developed to estimate the parameters in the joint model. A simulation study is performed to evaluate the statistical properties of the proposed procedures. The proposed model is applied to data from a clinical trial on early breast cancer. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Chronic hepatitis B often progresses silently toward hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),a leading cause of mortality worldwide.Early detection of HCC is crucial, yet challenging.AIM To investigate the role of dynamic changes in alkaline phosphatase to prealbumin ratio(APR)in hepatitis B progression to HCC.METHODS Data from 4843 patients with hepatitis B(January 2015 to January 2024)were analyzed.HCC incidence rates in males and females were compared using the log-rank test.Data were evaluated using Kaplan–Meier analysis. The Linear Mixed-Effects Model was applied to track the fluctuation of APR levels over time.Furthermore,Joint Modeling of Longitudinal and Survival data was employed to investigate the temporal relationship between APR and HCC risk.RESULTS The incidence of HCC was higher in males. To ensure the model’s normality assumption, this study applied a logarithmic transformation to APR,yielding ratio.Ratio levels were higher in females(t=5.26,P<0.01).A 1-unit increase in ratio correlated with a 2.005-fold higher risk of HCC in males(95%CI:1.653-2.431)and a 2.273-fold higher risk in females(95%CI:1.620-3.190).CONCLUSION Males are more prone to HCC,while females have higher APR levels.Despite no baseline APR link, rising APR indicates a higher HCC risk. 展开更多

In this paper, a concept for the joint modeling of the device load and user intention is presented. It consists of two coupled models, a device load model to characterize the power consumption of an electric device of interest, and a user intention model for describing the user intentions which cause the energy consumption. The advantage of this joint model is the ability to predict the device load from the user intention and to reconstruct the user intention from the measured device load. This opens a new way for load monitoring, simulation and prediction from the perspective of users instead of devices. 展开更多

The conversion of saline-alkali soils into paddy fields for long-term rice cultivation involves multiple disturbances, and as a result, soil microbial communities are altered to adapt to changing environmental conditions. However,a comprehensive understanding of the succession of soil bacterial communities that occurs during this process is still lacking. In the present study,we utilized data obtained from paddy fields of different rice cultivation years(0-23 years)to investigate the compositional and functional succession of soil bacterial communities. We focused on core bacterial taxa that were specifically enriched at different successional stages.Generalized joint attribute modeling(GJAM)was used to identify core bacterial taxa. Results indicated that the bare saline-alkali soil(0 year, prior to any rice cultivation)shared few core amplicon sequence variants(ASVs)with paddy fields. In the bare saline-alkali soil,Longimicrobiaceae from the phylum Gemmatimonadetes was dominant, while the dominance was subsequently replaced by Burkholderiaceae and Pedosphaeraceae--phyla affiliated with Proteobacteria and Verrucomicrobia--after 5 and 23 years of rice cultivation, respectively. The relative abundances of nitrogen metabolism functions in the core bacterial communities of the bare saline-alkali soil were higher than those at other successional stages, while sulfur metabolism functions exhibited the opposite trend. These indicated that the role of the core bacterial taxa in mediating nutrient cycling also evolved and adapted to changing soil conditions as rice cultivation was established.Redundancy analysis(RDA)indicated that the composition of the core bacterial community in paddy fields with rice cultivation for 0,2 and 4,6,8,10,and 12,and 20 and 23 years were driven by soil nitrate nitrogen content,pH,available phosphorus content, and the ratio of total carbon to total nitrogen, respectively. In summary, the present study provides insights into the succession of soil bacterial communities and core bacterial taxa that occurs during long-term rice cultivation. 展开更多

Rational distribution network planning optimizes power flow distribution, reduces grid stress, enhances voltage quality, promotes renewable energy utilization, and reduces costs. This study establishes a distribution network planning model incorporating distributed wind turbines(DWT),distributed photovoltaics(DPV),and energy storage systems(ESS).K-means++is employed to partition the distribution network based on electrical distance.Considering the spatiotemporal correlation of distributed generation(DG)outputs in the same region,a joint output model of DWT and DPV is developed using the Frank-Copula.Due to the model’s high dimensionality, multiple constraints, and mixed-integer characteristics, bilevel programming theory is utilized to structure the model. The model is solved using a mixed-integer particle swarmoptimization algorithm(MIPSO)to determine the optimal location and capacity of DG and ESS integrated into the distribution network to achieve the best economic benefits and operation quality. The proposed bilevel planning method for distribution networks is validated through simulations on the modified IEEE 33-bus system. The results demonstrate significant improvements, with the proposedmethod reducing the annual comprehensive cost by 41.65%and 13.98%,respectively,compared to scenarios without DG and ESS or with only DG integration.Furthermore,it reduces the daily average voltage deviation by 24.35%and 10.24%and daily network losses by 55.72%and 35.71%. 展开更多

An ocean-acoustic joint model is developed for research of acoustic propagation uncertainty in internal wave environments. The internal waves are numerically produced by tidal forcing over a continental slope using an ocean model.Three parameters(i.e.,internal wave, source depth, and water depth)contribute to the dynamic waveguide environments, and result in stochastic sound fields. The sensitivity of the transmission loss(TL)to environment parameters, statistical characteristics of the TL variation, and the associated physical mechanisms are investigated by the Sobol sensitivity analysis method, the Monte Carlo sampling, and the coupled normal mode theory, respectively. The results show that the TL is most sensitive to the source depth in the near field, resulted from the initial amplitudes of higher-order modes;while in middle and far fields, the internal waves are responsible for more than 80%of the total acoustic propagation contribution. In addition, the standard deviation of the TL in the near field and the shallow layer is smaller than those in the middle and far fields and the deep layer. 展开更多

Controlled blasting techniques are used to control overbreak and to aid in the stability of the remaining rock formation. Presplitting is one of the most common methods which is used in many open pit mining and surface blast design. The purpose of presplitting is to form a fracture plane across which the radial cracks from the production blast cannot travel. The purpose of this study is to investigate of effect of presplitting on the generation of a smooth wall in continuum and jointed rock mass. The 2D distinct element code was used to simulate the presplitting in a rock slope. The blast load history as a function of time was applied to the inner wall of each blasthole. Important parameters that were considered in the analysis were stress tensor and fracturing pattern. The blast loading magnitude and blasthole spacing and jointing pattern were found to be very significant in the final results. 展开更多

A new analytical study on stresses around a post-tensioned anchor in rocks with two perpendicular joint sets is presented. The assumptions of orthotropic elastic rock with plane strain conditions are made in derivation of the formulations. A tri-linear bond-slip constitutive law is used for modeling the tendon-grout interface behavior and debonding of this interface. The bearing plate width is also considered in the analysis. The obtained solutions are in the integral forms and numerical techniques that have been used for evaluation. In the illustrative example given, the major principal stress is compressive in the anchor free zone and compressive stress concentrations of 815 k Pa and 727 k Pa(for the anchor load of 300 k N) are observed under the bearing plate and the bond length proximal end, respectively. However, large values of tensile stresses with the maximum of-434 k Pa are formed at the bond length distal end. The results obtained using the proposed solution are compared very those of numerical method(FEM). 展开更多

Although many intact rock types can be very strong,a critical confining pressure can eventually be reached in triaxial testing, such that the Mohr shear strength envelope becomes horizontal. This critical state has recently been better defined, and correct curvature or correct deviation from linear Mohr-Coulomb(MC) has finally been found.Standard shear testing procedures for rock joints, using multiple testing of the same sample,in case of insufficient samples, can be shown to exaggerate apparent cohesion.Even rough joints do not have any cohesion, but instead have very high friction angles at low stress, due to strong dilation.Rock masses, implying problems of large-scale interaction with engineering structures, may have both cohesive and frictional strength components. However,it is not correct to add these, following linear M-C or nonlinear Hoek-Brown(H-B) standard routines.Cohesion is broken at small strain, while friction is mobilized at larger strain and remains to the end of the shear deformation. The criterion 'c then σn tan φ' should replace 'c plus σn tan φ' for improved fit to reality.Transformation of principal stresses to a shear plane seems to ignore mobilized dilation, and caused great experimental difficulties until understood. There seems to be plenty of room for continued research,so that errors of judgement of the last 50 years can be corrected. 展开更多

Considering the problems that should be solved in the synthetic earthquake prediction at present, a new model is proposed in the paper. It is called joint multivariate statistical model combined by principal component analysis with discriminatory analysis. Principal component analysis and discriminatory analysis are very important theories in multivariate statistical analysis that has developed quickly in the late thirty years. By means of maximization information method, we choose several earthquake prediction factors whose cumulative proportions of total sam-ple variances are beyond 90% from numerous earthquake prediction factors. The paper applies regression analysis and Mahalanobis discrimination to extrapolating synthetic prediction. An iterative algorithm for modeling of non-linear joint by the displacement discontinuity method (DDM) was described, and the effect of the non-linear joint on the in-situ stress field was investigated in this paper. The Barton-Bandis (BB) non-linear joint model and failure criterion were adopted in the new DDM program. Using this program, the stress field around the non-linear joint was obtained, the parameters analysis of the joint was carried out, and the deformation and stress distribution of the joint were studied. The simulation results show that: (1)the in-situ stress is significantly affected by the joint; (2)the increase of stiffness, friction angle, and thickness of the joint affect the stress concentration in different ways; (3)the influence distance of the joint changes with the angle of the joint; (4)the deformation and stress of the joint change with the point position. 展开更多

Accurate calibration of surgical instruments and ultrasound probes is essential for achieving high precision in image guided minimally invasive procedures. However, existing methods typically treat the calibration of the needle tip and the ultrasound probe as two independent processes, lacking an integrated calibration mechanism, which often leads to cumulative errors and reduced spatial consistency. To address this challenge,we propose a joint calibration model that unifies the calibration of the surgical needle tip and the ultrasound probe within a single coordinate system. The method formulates the calibration process through a series of mathematical models and coordinate transformation models and employs a gradient descent based optimization to refine the parameters of these models.By establishing and iteratively optimizing a template coordinate system through modeling of constrained spherical motion, the proposed joint calibration model achieves submillimeter accuracy in needle tip localization.Building upon this,an N line based calibration model is developed to determine the spatial relationship between the probe and the ultrasound image plane, resulting in an average pixel deviation of only 1.2373 mm.Experimental results confirm that this unified modeling approach effectively overcomes the limitations of separate calibration schemes, significantly enhancing both precision and robustness, and providing a reliable computational model for surgical navigation systems that require high spatial accuracy without relying on ionizing radiation. 展开更多

To address the issues of frequent identity switches(IDs)and degraded identification accuracy in multi object tracking(MOT)under complex occlusion scenarios, this study proposes an occlusion-robust tracking framework based on face-pedestrian joint feature modeling.By constructing a joint tracking model centered on“intra-class independent tracking+cross-category dynamic binding”,designing a multi-modal matching metric with spatio-temporal and appearance constraints, and innovatively introducing a cross-category feature mutual verification mechanism and a dual matching strategy, this work effectively resolves performance degradation in traditional single-category tracking methods caused by short-term occlusion,cross-camera tracking, and crowded environments.Experiments on the Chokepoint_Face_Pedestrian_Track test set demonstrate that in complex scenes, the proposed method improves Face-Pedestrian Matching F1 area under the curve(F1 AUC)by approximately 4 to 43 percentage points compared to several traditional methods. The joint tracking model achieves overall performance metrics of IDF1:85.1825%and MOTA:86.5956%,representing improvements of 0.91 and 0.06 percentage points, respectively, over the baseline model.Ablation studies confirm the effectiveness of key modules such as the Intersection over Area(IoA)/Intersection over Union(IoU)joint metric and dynamic threshold adjustment, validating the significant role of the cross-category identity matching mechanism in enhancing tracking stability.Our_model shows a 16.7%frame per second(FPS)drop vs.fairness of detection and re-identification in multiple object tracking(FairMOT),with its cross-category binding module adding aboute 10%overhead,yet maintains near-real-time performance for essential face-pedestrian tracking at small resolutions. 展开更多

The oscillating voltage test is a nondestructive detection method for partial discharge of XLPE (cross linked polyethylene) cable and has been applied recently. This paper made three kinds of varying severity artificial defect models of cable joints in 10 kV XLPE cable. Oscillating voltage is applied to the model, by use of pulse current method to detect partial discharge signals. In order to study the statistical characteristics of partial discharge of cable joint under the oscillating voltage, three-dimensional statistical map has been made. The results show that for the same kind of defects, with the increases of the defect severity, the discharge interval extended, the magnitude and the number of partial discharge increase, for different kinds of defects, obvious differences exist among the maps, this may established a foundation for the further study of the partial discharge pattern recognition of XLPE cable under oscillating voltage. 展开更多
