A survey questionnaire was ad...Vegetal leaves play a significant role in the daily lives of populations in developing countries. This study aimed to highlight the plant species used as food packaging in southern Benin. A survey questionnaire was administered in local markets, and informed consent was obtained from native guides. Data were processed using Google Forms, and a phytochemical screening was conducted on the sampled species. A total of 311 individuals, including elders, vendors, and consumers, participated in the survey. The most commonly used plant species identified were Tectona grandis, Thalia geniculata, Musa sapientum, Gmelina arborea, Manihot esculenta, and Terminalia catappa. Several reasons, primarily cultural, explain the preference for these species. Notably, Tectona grandis and Musa sapientum demonstrated superior morphological, physical, and organoleptic qualities, measuring 79 cm by 53.5 cm and over 2 m by 50 cm, respectively. They accounted for 33.33% and 32.35% of usage. Additionally, fermented corn paste, making up over 53% of offerings, was the most popular food item. The mechanical properties of these leaves, such as flexibility, toughness, and relative impermeability, along with identified phytochemicals like terpenes, alkaloids, gallic acid, flavonoids, and coumarins, enhance food preservation and limit microbial activity. Promoting the use of these natural packaging materials over plastic alternatives could significantly reduce environmental pollution and mitigate the risks associated with toxic microorganisms in food, contributing to both ecological health and food safety.展开更多
In real-world scenarios,dual-view X-ray machines have outnumbered single-view X-ray machines due to their ability to provide comprehensive internal information about the baggage,which is important for identifying proh...In real-world scenarios,dual-view X-ray machines have outnumbered single-view X-ray machines due to their ability to provide comprehensive internal information about the baggage,which is important for identifying prohibited items that are not visible in one view due to rotation or overlap.However,existing work still focuses mainly on single-view,and the limited dual-viewbasedwork only performs simple information fusion at the feature or decision level and lacks effective utilization of the complementary information hidden in dual view.To this end,this paper proposes an end-to-end dual-view prohibited item detection method,the core of which is an adaptive material-aware coordinate-aligned attention module(MACA)and an adaptive adjustment strategy(AAS).Specifically,we observe that in X-ray images,the material information of an object can be represented by color and texture features,and remains consistent across views,even under complex backgrounds.Therefore,our MACA first integrates the material information of the prohibited items in each view and then smoothly transfers these clearmaterial clues along the shared axis to the corresponding locations in the other view to enhance the feature representation of the blurred prohibited items in the other view.In addition,AAS can autonomously adjust the importance of the two views during feature learning to make joint optimizationmore stable and effective.Experiments on the DvXray dataset demonstrate that the proposed MACA and AAS can be plug-and-played into various detectors,such as Faster Region-based Convolutional Neural Network(Faster R-CNN)and Fully Convolutional One-Stage Object Detector(FCOS),and bring consistent performance gains.The entire framework performs favorably against state-of-the-art methods,especially on small-sized prohibited items,highlighting its potential application in reality.展开更多

BACKGROUND Recently,there has been a significant increase in the consumption of ultraprocessed foods worldwide.However,the association between the consumption of ultra-processed food,obesity,and the prevalence of colo...BACKGROUND Recently,there has been a significant increase in the consumption of ultraprocessed foods worldwide.However,the association between the consumption of ultra-processed food,obesity,and the prevalence of colon cancer remains controversial.AIM To find out the association between the consumption of ultra-processed food,obesity,and the prevalence of colon cancer.METHODS A comprehensive systematic literature search of PubMed,Scopus,Web of Science,and Google Scholar for grey literature was done for articles published before 8th March 2023.The search was done to retrieve potential peer-reviewed articles that explored the association between the consumption of ultra-processed food,obesity,and the prevalence of colon cancer.RESULTS Of the 246 potential articles assessed,17 met the inclusion criteria.Meta-analysis results demonstrated that high consumption of ultra-processed food is associated with an increased risk of obesity[odds ratio(OR):1.65;95%CI:1.07-2.45;P<0.05].Consequently,there is a positive association between obesity and an increased risk of colon cancer(OR 1.48;95%CI:0.77-2.87;P>0.05).CONCLUSION Consuming ultra-processed foods increases the risk of obesity and colon cancer.展开更多
The inbound and outbound tasks for valuable imported ship outfitting items are operated by multiple automated guided vehicles(AGVs)simultaneously in the outfitting warehouse.Given the efficiency mismatch between trans...The inbound and outbound tasks for valuable imported ship outfitting items are operated by multiple automated guided vehicles(AGVs)simultaneously in the outfitting warehouse.Given the efficiency mismatch between transportation equipment and the lack of effective scheduling of AGVs,the objective of the studied scheduling problem is to minimize the total travel time cost of vehicles.A multi-AGV task scheduling model based on time window is established considering the loading constraints of AGVs and cooperation time window constraints of stackers.According to the transportation characteristics in the outfitting warehouse,this study pro-poses a conflict detection method for heavy forklift AGVs,and correspondingly defines a conflict penalty function.Furthermore,to comprehensively optimize travel time cost and conflict penalty,a hybrid genetic neighborhood search algorithm(GA-ANS)is proposed.Five neighborhood structures are designed,and adaptive selection opera-tors are introduced to enhance the ability of global search and local chemotaxis.Numerical experiments show that the proposed GA-ANS algorithm can effectively solve the problem even when the scale of the problem increases and the effectiveness of the vehicle conflict penalty strategy is analyzed.展开更多

The use of a simulation and...The aim of this study was to carry out a dynamic simulation of the energy and environmental performance of a built space system, with a view to assessing its energy and environmental class. The use of a simulation and modeling tool, supported by various methodological references, formed the basis of our approach. Adopting a systemic perspective, we described the structural and functional aspects of the systems making up built spaces, as well as the associated energy flows. Our approach was also based on a typology, taking into account typical days, structural and functional configurations at different scales and angles of observation. The analysis tool we developed in Java was applied to the built space system of the Patte d’Oie university campus in Ouagadougou. Annual electricity consumption was measured at 124387.34 kWh, closely aligned with the average annual electricity bill (125224.31 kWh), with a maximum relative deviation of 1%, followed by a carbon emission balance of 58337.66 kg eq CO<sub>2</sub> per year. This validation confirmed the effectiveness of our tool. In addition, following the analysis of electricity consumption using our tool, the university campus was classified in energy class B and environmental class C. These results will be based on the emission factors of the energy mix of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) territory, with particular emphasis on Burkina Faso.展开更多

It is expected that the development of such scale will allow for reflection on advanced beginner nurses’ response to multitasking, leading to further capacity building. Methods: The surface validity of 96 items of the Advanced Beginner Nurses’ Self-Monitoring Scale While Multitasking was examined at a meeting with five expert researchers. Five researchers and five nurses examined the items’ content using an item-level content validity index through a questionnaire survey. Results and Conclusion: The Advanced Beginner Nurses’ Self-Monitoring Scale While Multitasking was organized into 73 items that were refined into scales with surface and content validity. Consequently, five sub-concepts were identified: recognizing the situation one’s facing, seeing one’s self from multiple perspectives, devising concrete strategies depending on the situation, considering a predictable time schedule, and being aware of the situation surrounding one’s self. In the future, it will be necessary to examine the reliability and validity of the scale.展开更多

Th...The main purpose of this paper is to generalize the effect of two-phased demand and variable deterioration within the EOQ (Economic Order Quantity) framework. The rate of deterioration is a linear function of time. The two-phased demand function states the constant function for a certain period and the quadratic function of time for the rest part of the cycle time. No shortages as well as partial backlogging are allowed to occur. The mathematical expressions are derived for determining the optimal cycle time, order quantity and total cost function. An easy-to-use working procedure is provided to calculate the above quantities. A couple of numerical examples are cited to explain the theoretical results and sensitivity analysis of some selected examples is carried out.展开更多
Against the backdrop of rapid development in China’s construction and infrastructure sectors,discrepancies between project budgets and actual costs have become pronounced,manifesting in project overruns and suspensio...Against the backdrop of rapid development in China’s construction and infrastructure sectors,discrepancies between project budgets and actual costs have become pronounced,manifesting in project overruns and suspensions,posing significant challenges.To address inaccuracies in investment targets and operational complexities,this study focuses on a beam-bridge construction project in a district of Shijiazhuang city as a case study.Drawing upon historical analogs,the project employs a Work Breakdown Structure(WBS)to decompose the engineering works.Building on theories of Cost Significant(CS)and Whole Life Costing(WLC),the study constructs Cost Significant Items(CSIs)and develops a CNN-BiLSTM-Attention neural network for nonlinear prediction.By identifying significant cost drivers in engineering projects,this paper presents a streamlined cost estimation method that significantly reduces computational burdens,simplifies data collection processes,and optimizes data analysis and forecasting,thereby enhancing prediction accuracy.Finally,validation with real-world cost fluctuation data demonstrates minor errors,meeting predictive requirements across project execution phases.展开更多

The judgment method...Reduced Q-matrix (Qr matrix) plays an important role in the rule space model (RSM) and the attribute hierarchy method (AHM). Based on the attribute hierarchy, a valid/invalid item is defined. The judgment method of the valid/invalid item is developed on the relation between reachability matrix and valid items. And valid items are explained from the perspective of graph theory. An incremental augment algorithm for constructing Qr matrix is proposed based on the idea of incremental forward regression, and its validity is theoretically considered. Results of empirical tests are given in order to compare the performance of the incremental augment algo-rithm and the Tatsuoka algorithm upon the running time. Empirical evidence shows that the algorithm outper-forms the Tatsuoka algorithm, and the analysis of the two algorithms also show linear growth with respect to the number of valid items. Mathematical models with 10 attributes are built for the two algorithms by the linear regression analysis.展开更多
