Effect of the Tectonic Inversion on the Source-to-Sink System Evolution in a Lacustrine Rift Basin,a Case Study of South Yellow Sea Basin,East China

The complex plate collision process led the South Yellow Sea Basin(SYSB)to go through an intensity tectonic inversion during the Early Cenozoic,leading to a regional unconformity surface development.As a petroliferous basin,SYSB saw intense denudation and deposition processes,making it hard to characterize their source-to-sink system(S2S),and this study provided a new way to reveal them quantitatively.According to the seismic interpretation,it was found that two types of tectonic inversion led to the strata shortening process,which was classified according to their difference in planar movements:dip-slip faults and strike-slip ones.As for dip-slip faults,the inversion structure was primarily formed by the dip-slip movement,and many fault-related folds developed,which developed in the North Depression Zone of the SYSB.The strike-slip ones,accompanied by some negative flower structures,dominate the South Depression Zone of the SYSB.To reveal its source-to-sink(S2S)system in the tectonic inversion basin,we rebuild the provenance area with detrital zircon U-Pb data and heavy mineral assemblage.The results show,during the Eocene(tectonic inversion stage),the proximal slump or fan delta from the Central Uplift Zone was prominently developed in the North Depression Zone,and the South Depression Zone is filled by sediments from the proximal area(Central Uplift Zone in SYSB and Wunansha Uplift)and the prograding delta long-axis parallel to the boundary faults.Then,calculations were conducted on the coarse sediment content,fault displacements,catchment relief,sediment migration distance,and discussions about the impact factors of the S2S system developed in various strata shortening patterns with a statistical method.It was found that,within the dip-slip faults-dominated zone,the volume of the sediment routing system and the ratio of coarse-grained sediments merely have a relationship with the amount of sediment supply and average faults break displacement.Compared with the strike-slip faults-dominated zone,the source-to-sink system shows a lower level of sandy sediment influx,and its coarse-grained content is mainly determined by the average faults broken displacement. 展开更多

Co-assembling chiral molecules with achiral compounds via non-covalent interactions like areneperfluoroarene(AP) interactions offers an effective approach for fabricating chiral functional materials.Herein,chiral molecules L/D-PF1 and L/D-PF2 with pyrene groups were synthesized and its chiroptical properties upon co-assembly with achiral compound octafluoronaphthalene(OFN) through AP interaction were systemically studied.The co-assembly of L/D-PF1/OFN and L/D-PF2/OFN exhibited distinct chiroptical properties such as circular dichroism(CD) and circularly polarized luminescence(CPL) signals.Chirality transfer from the chirality center of L/D-PF1 and L/D-PF2 to the achiral OFN and chiral amplification were successfully achieved.Besides,no significant CPL signal was observed in the self-assembly of L/DPF1 or L/D-PF2 while co-assembly with OFN exhibited obvious CPL amplification induced by AP interaction.Notably,a reversal CD signal and CPL signal could be observed in L/D-PF2/OFN when the molar ratio changed from 1:1 to 1:2 while not found in L/D-PF1/OFN,indicating that that minor structural changes of molecules could cause large changes in assembly.In addition,a series of computational calculations were conducted to verify the AP interaction between L-PF1/L-PF2 and OFN.This work demonstrated that arene-perfluoroarene interaction could drive chiral transfer,chiral amplification and chiral inversion and provided a new method for the preparation of chiroptical materials. 展开更多

Non-liner wave equation inversion,wavelet analysis and artificial neural networks were used to obtain stratum parameters and the distribution of thin coal seams.The lithology of the water-bearing/resisting layer in the Quaternary system was also predicted.The implementation process included calculating the well log parameters,stratum contrasting the seismic data and the well logs,and extracting,studying and predicting seismic attributes.Seismic inversion parameters,including the layer velocity and wave impedance,were calculated and effectively used for prediction and analysis.Prior knowledge and seismic interpretation were used to remedy a dearth of seismic data during the inversion procedure.This enhanced the stability of the inversion method.Non-linear seismic inversion and artificial neural networks were used to interpret coal seismic lithology and to study the water-bearing/resisting layer in the Quaternary system.Interpretation of the 1~2 m thin coal seams,and also of the water-bearing/resisting layer in the Quaternary system,is provided.The upper mining limit can be lifted from 60 m to 45 m.The predictions show that this method can provide reliable data useful for thin coal seam exploitation and for lifting the upper mining limit,which is one of the principles of green mining. 展开更多

We have studied the effect of the spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) on gain of lasing without inversion (LWI) in a closed three-level A-type atomic system with Doppler broadening. It is shown that, regardless of the driving and probe fields being co- or counter-propagating, at a suitable value of the Doppler width, we can obtain a much larger LWI gain with SGC than that without SGC; and the region of the LWI gain spectrum with SGC is obviously larger than that without SGC. When the Doppler width takes a constant value, the gain does not monotonically decrease or increase with increasing strength of SGC, the largest LWI gain can be obtained by adjusting strength of SGC. Generally speaking, the co-propagating probe and driving fields is favourable to obtain a larger LWI gain. 展开更多

A regional surface carbon dioxide (C02) flux inversion system, the Tan-Tracker-Region, was developed by incor- porating an assimilation scheme into the Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) regional chemical transport model to resolve fine-scale CO2 variability over East Asia. The proper orthogonal decomposition-based ensemble four-dimensional variational data assimilation approach (POD-4DVar) is the core algorithm for the joint assimilation framework, and simultaneous assimilations of CO2 concentrations and surface CO2 fluxes are applied to help reduce the uncertainty in initial CO2 concentrations. A persistence dynamical model was developed to describe the evolu- tion of the surface CO2 fluxes and help avoid the "signal-to-noise" problem; thus, CO2 fluxes could be estimated as a whole at the model grid scale, with better use of observation information. The performance of the regional inversion system was evaluated through a group of single-observation-based observing system simulation experiments (OSSEs). The results of the experiments suggest that a reliable performance of Tan-Tracker-Region is dependent on certain assimilation parameter choices, for example, an optimized window length of approximately 3 h, an ensemble size of approximately 100, and a covariance localization radius of approximately 320 km. This is probably due to the strong diurnal variation and spatial heterogeneity in the fine-scale CMAQ simulation, which could affect the perform- ance of the regional inversion system. In addition, because all observations can be artificially obtained in OSSEs, the performance of Tan-Tracker-Region was further evaluated through different densities of the artificial observation net- work in different CO2 flux situations. The results indicate that more observation sites would be useful to systematic- ally improve the estimation of CO2 concentration and flux in large areas over the model domain. The work presented here forms a foundation for future research in which a thorough estimation of CO2 flux variability over East Asia could be performed with the regional inversion system. 展开更多

During subduction, continental margins experience shortening along with inversion of extensional sedimentary basins. Here we explore a tectonic scenario for the inversion of two-phase extensional basin systems, where the Early-Middle Jurassic intra-arc volcano-sedimentary Oseosan Volcanic Complex was developed on top of the Late Triassic-Early Jurassic post-collisional sequences, namely the Chungnam Basin. The basin shortening was accommodated mostly by contractional faults and related folds. In the basement, regional high-angle reverse faults as well as low-angle thrusts accommodate the overall shortening, and are compatible with those preserved in the cover. This suggests that their spatial and temporal development is strongly dependent on the initial basin geometry and inherited structures.Changes in transport direction observed along the basement-sedimentary cover interface is a characteristic structural feature, reflecting sequential kinematic evolution during basin inversion. Propagation of basement faults also enhanced shortening of the overlying sedimentary cover sequences. We constrain timing of the Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous(ca. 158-110 Ma) inversion from altered K-feldspar 40 Ar/39 Ar ages in stacked thrust sheets and K-Ar illite ages of fault gouges, along with previously reported geochronological data from the area. This "non-magmatic phase" of the Daebo Orogeny is contemporaneous with the timing of magmatic quiescence across the Korean Peninsula. We propose the role of flat/low-angle subduction of the Paleo-Pacific Plate for the development of the "Laramide-style" basement-involved orogenic event along East Asian continental margin. 展开更多

Satellite carbon dioxide(CO_(2))retrievals provide important constraints on surface carbon fluxes in regions that are undersampled by global in situ networks.In this study,we developed an atmospheric inversion system to infer CO_(2)sources and sinks from Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2(OCO-2)column CO_(2)retrievals during 2015–2019,and compared our estimates to five other state-of-the-art inversions.By assimilating satellite CO_(2)retrievals in the inversion,the global net terrestrial carbon sink(net biome productivity,NBP)was found to be 1.03±0.39 petagrams of carbon per year(Pg C yr^(-1));this estimate is lower than the sink estimate of 1.46–2.52 Pg C yr^(-1),obtained using surface-based inversions.We estimated a weak northern uptake of 1.30 Pg C yr-1and weak tropical release of-0.26 Pg C yr^(-1),consistent with previous reports.By contrast,the other inversions showed a strong northern uptake(1.44–2.78 Pg C yr-1),but diverging tropical carbon fluxes,from a sink of 0.77 Pg C yr^(-1) to a source of-1.26 Pg C yr^(-1).During the 2015–2016 El Ni?o event,the tropical land biosphere was mainly responsible for a higher global CO_(2)growth rate.Anomalously high carbon uptake in the northern extratropics,consistent with concurrent extreme Northern Hemisphere greening,partially offset the tropical carbon losses.This anomalously high carbon uptake was not always found in surface-based inversions,resulting in a larger global carbon release in the other inversions.Thus,our satellite constraint refines the current understanding of flux partitioning between northern and tropical terrestrial regions,and suggests that the northern extratropics acted as anomalous high CO_(2)sinks in response to the 2015–2016 El Nino event. 展开更多

Stably inverting a dynamic system model is fundamental to subsequent servo designs.Current inversion techniques have provided effective model matching for feedforward controls.However,when the inverse models are to be implemented in feedback systems,additional considerations are demanded for assuring causality,robustness,and stability under closed-loop constraints.To bridge the gap between accurate model approximations and robust feedback performances,this paper provides a new treatment of unstable zeros in inverse design.We provide first an intuitive pole-zero-map-based inverse tuning to verify the basic principle of the unstable-zero treatment.From there,for general nonminimum-phase and unstable systems,we propose an optimal inversion algorithm that can attain model accuracy at the frequency regions of interest while constraining noise amplification elsewhere to guarantee system robustness.Along the way,we also provide a modern review of model inversion techniques.The proposed algorithm is validated on motion control systems and complex high-order systems. 展开更多

It is shown that in a Doppler broadened open N-type four-level atomic system with spontaneously generated coherence (SGC), the gain without inversion (GWI) is very sensitive to the variation of the relative phase between the probe field and the driving field; the atomic exit rate (R0) and the ratio (S) of the atomic injection rates have a considerable modulation effect on the phase-dependent GWI. GWI first increases and then decreases with R0 increasing; in a certain value range of S, GWI increases monotonically with S increasing; by adjusting the values of R0 and S, in an open system a much larger GWI can be obtained than in the corresponding closed system [2011 Phys. Rev. A 83 043805]. The modulation effects of R0 and S on the phase-dependent GWI in the case with the counter-propagating probe and driving fields are stronger than those in the co-propagating case, GWI in the co-propagating case is much larger than that in the counter-propagating case. 展开更多

An analysis is made of the effect of Doppler broadening on gain without inversion (GWI) from different aspects in a closed lambda-type three-level system with an incoherent pump. It is shown that, regardless of the driving field being on resonance or not, for the counter- or co-propagating of the probe and driving fields (PDF), GWI does not monotonically decrease or increase with increasing Doppler width. Except for the case of counter-propagating PDF with off-resonance driving field, at a suitable Doppler width one can obtain a gain maximum value much larger than that without Doppler broadening; especially in the situation of the resonant driving field, the co-propagating geometry leads to a larger GWI. In addition, for the counter-propagating geometry, when Doppler width is larger enough, GWI oscillation occurs, and the oscillation amplitude and region increase with increasing Doppler width. Compared with the case of a nearly monochromatic field, a population inversion between an excited state and a ground state has been found in a wide sideband intensity range by increasing the difference in frequency between three components. Furthermore, the population inversion can be controlled by the sum of the relative phases of the sideband components of the trichromatic pump field with respective to the phase of the central component. Changing the sum phase from 0 to π, the population inversion between the excited state and the ground state can increase within nearly half of the sideband intensity range. At the same time, the sideband intensity range that corresponds to the system exhibiting inversion ρ00 〉 ρ11 also becomes wider evidently. 展开更多

A Study of the Relationship between Low-level Jet and inversion Layer over an Agroforest Ecosystem in East China Plain

The relationship between the super–low–level jet (LLJ) and inversion layer over an agroforest ecosystem on the Huang–Huai–Hai plain in the eastern China is studied by means of a time–independent K–closure model. It is found that the intensified inversion near the surface of a luxuriantly growing agroforest ecosystem leads to the formation and development of the LLJ, the more intense the inversion, the stronger is the LLJ. The critical value of inversion intensity index for the LLJ formation is 0.75°C/ 100 m, which relates to the necessary geostraphic wind velocity of 6.0 to 10 m / s at the top level of the model. The numerical calculations show that the roughness length of the underlying surface has considerable effects on the LLJ structure. It is shown that in a Doppler broadened open N-type four-level atomic system with spontaneously generated coherence (SGC), the gain without inversion (GWI) is very sensitive to the variation of the relative phase between the probe field and the driving field; the atomic exit rate (R0) and the ratio (S) of the atomic injection rates have a considerable modulation effect on the phase-dependent GWI. GWI first increases and then decreases with R0 increasing; in a certain value range of S, GWI increases monotonically with S increasing; by adjusting the values of R0 and S, in an open system a much larger GWI can be obtained than in the corresponding closed system [2011 Phys. Rev. A 83 043805]. The modulation effects of R0 and S on the phase-dependent GWI in the case with the counter-propagating probe and driving fields are stronger than those in the co-propagating case, GWI in the co-propagating case is much larger than that in the counter-propagating case. 展开更多

In this study,we attempted to perform an earthquake source dynamic inversion to obtain dynamic parameters on fault system with complex geometry.The forward modeling of the spontaneous rupture process is carried out using a boundary integral equation method(BIEM)based on unstructured meshing,and the inversion method is implemented by a genetic algorithm based on a parallel acceleration of the GPU.The source model in this study is a branched fault,which is described by two physical parameters,the initial stress T0 and the critical slip-weakening distance Dc.We investigated the effect of the inherited parameters on the accuracy and convergence of the inversion simulation.Numerical results showed that if a set of parameters are assigned properly,the inversion of rupture parameters is accurate and converges fast.It is easy to converge to a local optimal solution during the inversion process if inappropriate inherited parameters are selected.Compared with T0,D。has better convergence and accuracy in.the inversion process. 展开更多
