Randomness and fuzziness are among the attributes of the influential factors for stability assessment of pile foundation. According to these two characteristics, the triangular fuzzy number analysis approach was introduced to determine the probability-distributed function of mechanical parameters. Then the functional function of reliability analysis was constructed based on the study of bearing mechanism of pile foundation, and the way to calculate interval values of the functional function was developed by using improved interval-truncation approach and operation rules of interval numbers. Afterwards, the non-probabilistic fuzzy reliability analysis method was applied to assessing the pile foundation, from which a method was presented for non- probabilistic fuzzy reliability analysis of pile foundation stability by interval theory. Finally, the probability distribution curve of non- probabilistic fuzzy reliability indexes of practical pile foundation was concluded. Its failure possibility is 0.91%, which shows that the pile foundation is stable and reliable. 展开更多

The concepts of rock strength intervals are presented in this work, furthermore, central values of intervals and their corresponding credibility are provided using two-case study based on blind data theory and fuzzy interval estimation. 60 granite specimens are first tested, the compressive strength interval and tensile strength interval are [ 103.68, 219.6 l ] and [7.53, 11,86] MPa, while the tested mean values of compressive strength and tensile strength are 152.86 and 10.14 MPa, the credibilities are less than 58.4% and around 70.4%, respectively, the credibility of shear strength is between 40% and 60%. Then 70 other rock specimens are designed and tested, the similar conclusions can be reached. The results show that the conventional definite values are the particular values within the intervals, and the credibility of them often fails to reach the high-precision engineering requirement. The results demonstrate the feasibility and application potential of this proposed algorithm for the engineering practice. The references for engineering value selection of rock strength under different credibility or according to frequency distribution of central values are provided to increase the reliability and precision of calculation. 展开更多

In consideration of the uncertainty of basic events failure rate and lack of probability statistical information in fault tree analysis( FTA) of excavator variable-frequency speed control system, the interval theory was employed and combined with conventional FTA method. The basic events failure probabilities were described by interval numbers,and the interval operators of logical gates in FTA were deduced based on interval theory. Finally,the reliability assessment of excavator variable-frequency speed control system was done by interval FTA method. The result shows that the interval FTA method is suitable for the complex system with insufficient failure data. 展开更多

In the evaluation of some simulation systems, only small samples data are gotten due to the limited conditions. In allusion to the evaluation problem of small sample data, an interval estimation approach with the improved grey confidence degree is proposed.On the basis of the definition of grey distance, three kinds of definition of the grey weight for every sample element in grey estimated value are put forward, and then the improved grey confidence degree is designed. In accordance with the new concept, the grey interval estimation for small sample data is deduced. Furthermore,the bootstrap method is applied for more accurate grey confidence interval. Through resampling of the bootstrap, numerous small samples with the corresponding confidence intervals can be obtained. Then the final confidence interval is calculated from the union of these grey confidence intervals. In the end, the simulation system evaluation using the proposed method is conducted. The simulation results show that the reasonable confidence interval is acquired, which demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

Given the global lack of effective analysis methods for the impact of design parameter tolerance on performance deviation in the vehicle proof-of-concept stage,it is difficult to decompose performance tolerance to design parameter tolerance.This study proposes a set of consistency analysis methods for vehicle steering performance.The process of consistency analysis and control of automotive performance in the conceptual design phase is proposed for the first time.A vehicle dynamics model is constructed,and the multi-objective optimization software Isight is used to optimize the steering performance of the car.Sensitivity analysis is used to optimize the design performance value.The tolerance interval of the performance is obtained by comparing the original car performance value with the optimized value.With the help of layer-by-layer decomposition theory and interval mathematics,automotive performance tolerance has been decomposed into design parameter tolerance.Through simulation and real vehicle experiments,the validity of the consistency analysis and control method presented in this paper are verified.The decomposition from parameter tolerance to performance tolerance can be achieved at the conceptual design stage. 展开更多
