A new internal waverider inlet with a rectangular shape of entrance and exit in front view is designed at Ma=6.0.The design is based on a better basic flowfield ICFC than traditional one and derived with the technology of stream tracing and shock cutting.Comparison between the newly designed inlet and a typical sidewall compression inlet is given.The design Mach number and entrance shape of this new inlet are chosen according to the sidewall compression inlet.Numerical results show that most of the performance parameters of the internal waverider inlet are a bit higher than the sidewall inlet,such as the flow capture coefficient,total pressure recovery and the kinetic efficiency.The performances of these two inlets at off-design points are compared.The internal waverider inlet can capture more than 91% of incoming flow under all simulated conditions.Results show that internal waverider inlet using 3-D compression and high flow capture coefficient is a kind of fixed-geometry inlet with better performance. 展开更多

Three cylinders prototype has just been developed. The study on the influence of valve's characteristic on ICP's total performance will found the base for its optimum design. Based on the theoretical and testing fruits of single cylinder prototype, the performance of the valves and complete appliance of the latest is simulated. When the natural frequency of valves is approximately to the round number times of the working frequency, volumetric efficiency is seriously low. The nominal rotational speed of the prototype is nearly to the speed where the volumetric efficiency is lowest, which is harmful to the normal work of ICP, so further structure optimization of valves should be carried out. The change of volumetric efficiency has great influence on the fuel consumption rate, output flow, effective thermal efficiency, effective power, and so on, but little on output pressure. 展开更多

The thermal elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication characteristics of the internal meshing gears in a planetary gear train under vibrations were examined considering the influence of the modification coefficient and time-varying meshing stiffness.Based on dynamic theory of the gear system,a dynamic model of the planetary gear train was established.The lubrication performances of modified gear systems under vibrations and static loads were analyzed.Compared with other transmission types,the best lubrication effect could be produced by the positive transmission.A thicker lubricating oil film could be formed,and the friction coefficient and oil film flash temperature are the smallest.Increasing modification coefficient improves the lubrication performance continuously but intensifies the engage-in and tooth-change impact.For the planetary and inner gears,the increase in the modification coefficient also leads a decrease in the oil film stiffness. 展开更多

The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of phytase supplementation on growth performance, slaughter performance, growth of internal organs and small intestine, and serum biochemical indices of broilers. A total of 360 1-day-old Ross 308 broilers were randomly divided into 4 groups with 3 replicates and 30 broilers per replicate (15 male, 15 female). The treatments were fed with basal diet supplemented with 0%, 0.01%, 0.02% and 0.03% phytase. The results showed that: 1) Phytase supplementation increased the body weight gain and the body weight of Ross 308 broilers (P serum calcium (Ca) consistency was 0.02%. According to the above analysis, the feasible supplementation of phytase (enzyme activity for 5000 u/g) in broiler dietary was 0.02%. 展开更多

High pressure and large flow rate small-sized cooling fans are used for servers in data centers and there is a strong demand to increase its performance because of increase of quantity of heat from servers. Contra-rotating rotors have been adopted for some of high pressure and large flow rate cooling fans to meet the demand. The performance curve of the contra-rotating small-sized cooling fan with 40 mm square casing was investigated by an experimental apparatus and its internal flow condition was clarified by the numerical analysis. The fan static pressure of the front rotor was extremely low and it increased significantly at the rear rotor. The uniform flow was achieved at the inlet of the rear rotor because of the special shape of the casing between the front and rear rotors. On the other hand, the tip leakage flow was large enough to influence on the main flow of the test cooling fan by the design specification of high pressure with compact rotor diameter. 展开更多

Design for life-time performance and proper maintenance measures are usually needed to prolong the mean-time-between-failures of complex equipments such as internal combustion engines.To reach this,it is important to obtain the information of time-varying system performance in design stage and to identify the structural change at each moment.So a multidisciplinary model based method is studied in this paper to unify the time-varying performance(TVP) prediction and system identification(SI) of equipments.The related multidisciplinary model in this paper should be not only precise to give simulation results but also sensitive to the variation of system parameters.So the varying history of system performance along with the structural change can be obtained from the model.Then the value of system parameters can be identified by seeking roots with given detected responding data and relationship between system responding data and system parameters.A case study on a low power gasoline engine shows that the method presented in this paper can provide useful information for the development and maintenance of complex equipments. 展开更多

Rapid changes in business environment have increased the needs of graduates who have capabilities of anticipating to the changes. The faculty, especially at the level of study program, has an important role in affecting the quality of graduates, because the study program is the core element in the higher education institution which involves directly in planning, organizing, executing and controlling the teaching and learning activities. This dissertation is to examine the effect of leadership on performance management and good governance, and also to examine the effect of performance management and good governance on internal and external satisfaction. The data for this causal research is collected by questionnaire. Unit of analysis in this research is all study programs in all accredited faculty of economics in East Java. The respondents are academic staffs, students and administrative staffs in the study program. There were 83 of 125 accredited study program which has been successfully contacted and agreed to participate in the research. There were 900 students and 285 academic staffs filling up the questionnaires. The data analysis is conducted by Path Analysis with the SPSS 11.5 version software to measure construct validity and reliability and to test causal relationships between variables in the model. The findings of the research showed that: (1) Leadership affects performance management significantly; (2) Leadership affects good governance significantly; (3) Leadership affects internal satisfaction significantly; (4) Performance management affects internal satisfaction; (5) Good governance significantly affects external satisfaction; (6) Internal satisfaction does not affect external satisfaction. Based on the findings in this research, it is suggested that the study programs take into account the implementation of performance management in order to undertake improvement continuously considering that performance management supports the quality assurance activity. It is also suggested that the faculty implements good governance formally. However, the implementation should empower the study program to undertake the improvement. 展开更多

The results show that the quality of internal control has a significant positive correlation with the financial performance of enterprises. In particular, the internal control is significantly correlated with the company's growth ability, and the internal control is positively correlated with the profitability of the company. In this study,the impacts of internal heat generation on heat transfer enhancement of porous fin is theoretical investigated using differential transform method.The parametric studies reveal that porosity enhances the fin heat dissipating capacity but the internal heat generation decreases the heat enhancement capacity of extended surface.Also,it is established that when the internal heat parameter increases to some certain values,some negative effects are recorded where the fin stores heat rather than dissipating it.This scenario defeats the prime purpose of the cooling fin.Additionally,it is established in the present study that the limiting value of porosity parameter for thermal stability for the passive device increases as internal heat parameter increases.This shows that although the internal heat parameter can help assist higher range and value of thermal stability of the fin,it produces negative effect which greatly defeats the ultimate purpose of the fin.The results in the work will help in fin design for industrial applications where internal heat generation is involved. 展开更多

Low-concentration coal mine methane(LC-CMM),which is predominantly composed of methane,serves as a clean and low-carbon energy resource with significant potential for utilization.Utilizing LC-CMM as fuel for solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs)represents an efficient and promising strategy for its effective utilization.However,direct application in Ni-based anodes induces carbon deposition,which severely degrades cell performance.Herein,a medium-entropy oxide Sr_(2)FeNi_(0.1)Cr_(0.3)Mn_(0.3)Mo_(0.3)O_(6−δ)(SFNCMM)was developed as an anode internal reforming catalyst.Following reduction treatment,FeNi_(3) nano-alloy particles precipitate on the surface of the material,thereby significantly enhancing its catalytic activity for LC-CMM reforming process.The catalyst achieved a methane conversion rate of 53.3%,demonstrating excellent catalytic performance.Electrochemical evaluations revealed that SFNCMM-Gd_(0.1)Ce_(0.9)O_(2−δ)(GDC)with a weight ratio of 7:3 exhibited superior electrochemical performance when employed as the anodic catalytic layer.With H_(2) and LC-CMM as fuels,the single cell achieved maximum power densities of 1467.32 and 1116.97 mW·cm^(−2) at 800℃,respectively,with corresponding polarization impedances of 0.17 and 1.35Ω·cm^(2).Furthermore,the single cell maintained stable operation for over 100 h under LC-CMM fueling without significant carbon deposition,confirming its robust resistance to carbon formation.These results underscore the potential of medium-entropy oxides as highly effective catalytic layers for mitigating carbon deposition in SOFCs. 展开更多

The reverse operation of existing centrifugal pumps,commonly referred to as“Pump as Turbine”(PAT),is a key approach for recovering liquid pressure energy.As a type of hydraulic machinery characterized by a simple structure and user-friendly operation,PAT holds significant promise for application in industrial waste energy recovery systems.This paper reviews recent advancements in this field,with a focus on pump type selection,performance prediction,and optimization design.First,the advantages of various prototype pumps,including centrifugal,axial-flow,mixed-flow,screw,and plunger pumps,are examined in specific application scenarios while analyzing their suitability for turbine operation.Next,performance prediction techniques for PATs are discussed,encompassing theoretical calculations,numerical simulations,and experimental testing.Special emphasis is placed on the crucial role of Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)and internal flow field testing technologies in analyzing PAT internal flow characteristics.Additionally,the impact of multi-objective optimization methods and the application of advanced materials on PAT performance enhancement is addressed.Finally,based on current research findings and existing technical challenges,this review also indicates future development directions;in particular,four key breakthrough areas are identified:advanced materials,innovative design methodologies,internal flow diagnostics,and in-depth analysis of critical components. 展开更多

Precast concrete structures have gained popularity due to their advantages.However,the seismic performance of their connection joints remains an area of ongoing research and improvement.Grouted Sleeve Connection(GSC)offers a solution for connecting reinforcements in precast components,but their vulnerability to internal defects,such as construction errors and material variability,can significantly impact performance.This article presents a finite element analysis(FEA)to evaluate the impact of internal grouting defects in GSC on the structural performance of precast reinforced concrete columns.Four finite elementmodels representing GSC with varying degrees of defects were used to investigate the effects on mechanical properties,including bearing capacity,stress-deformation behavior,and stiffness degradation.The study highlights the significant impact of internal grouting defects on the mechanical performance of GSC,with findings indicating a decrease in stiffness,increased plastic deformation,and reduced energy dissipation as the proportion of internal defects rises.The analysis reveals that the internal defects in GSC act as stress concentration points,leading to early crack formation and accelerated damage under cyclic loading.By improving construction quality and reducing the prevalence of grouting defects,the adverse effects on the performance of GSC can be mitigated.Compared to defect-free specimens,those with defects of 30%exhibited a 31.23%reduction in horizontal bearing capacity,highlighting the importance of minimizing defects in practical engineering applications. 展开更多

Road pavement performance prediction using a time series long short-term memory (LSTM) model

Intelligent maintenance of roads and highways requires accurate deterioration evaluation and performance prediction of asphalt pavement.To this end,we develop a time series long short-term memory(LSTM)model to predict key performance indicators(PIs)of pavement,namely the international roughness index(IRI)and rutting depth(RD).Subsequently,we propose a comprehensive performance indicator for the pavement quality index(PQI),which leverages the highway performance assessment standard method,entropy weight method,and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.This indicator can evaluate the overall performance condition of the pavement.The data used for the model development and analysis are extracted from tests on two full-scale accelerated test tracks,called MnRoad and RIOHTrack.Six variables are used as predictors,including temperature,precipitation,total traffic volume,asphalt surface layer thickness,pavement age,and maintenance condition.Furthermore,wavelet denoising is performed to analyze the impact of missing or abnormal data on the LSTM model accuracy.In comparison to a traditional autoregressive integrated moving average(ARIMAX)model,the proposed LSTM model performs better in terms of PI prediction and resiliency to noise.Finally,the overall prediction accuracy of our proposed performance indicator PQI is 93.8%. 展开更多

Financing of the African Integrated High-Speed Railway Network (AIHSRN) through Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Projects is very expensive. As a result, most of the African countries seek financial supports from the International Financial Institutions (IFIs). However, conditions provided by the IFIs through the Performance Standards (PS) of the International Financial Corporation (IFC) increase cost of the projects and thus, it becomes a burden to most of the African countries. This study aimed to explore the causes of IFC-PS through the SGR Projects that escalate costs and how to address them. The Tanzania SGR Lot 1 Project that covered 205 km from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro was selected as a case study. The methods used for data collection involved literature review, focus group discussions and interviews. The results and findings show a gap between the IFC-PS and the National Laws and Regulations that escalates costs of the projects if funds from the IFIs were to be secured. To bridge the gap, it is recommended that the African countries should engage into negotiations with the IFIs to agree to waive IFC-PS conditions that escalate costs provided they are adequately covered in the national laws and regulations;engagement of locally established national and regional financial institutions;and the responsible government institutions in the African countries should sit together for assessment and review of the IFC-PS against the national laws and regulations. 展开更多

The internal curing effect of superabsorbent polymer(SAP) on the properties of high performance concrete(HPC) under marine wetting and drying cycles(WD cycles) was investigated. Compressive strength, hydration and chloride migration were experimentally investigated and the results were evaluated by compasison with those under fresh water curing(FW). Water absorption and porosity were also evaluated only under WD cycles. The results showed the important influence of wetting and drying cycles on the properties of SAP modified HPC properties. Carefully designed, SAP minimized the long-term compressive strength of HPC under marine WD cycles. The hydration rate was faster in the initial curing, but became lower as compared with that cured in FW. In addition, SAP improved the long-term water absorption resistance and chloride migration resistance of HPC under marine WD cycles. The examination of the porosity showed a lower increase of the volume of capillary pores in SAP modified HPC under long term WD cycles compared with that without SAP. Therefore, internal curing by SAP could improve the durability properties of HPC under marine WD cycles. 展开更多

The amount of water imported by pre-wetted light-weight aggregate can regulate IRH of concrete. By importing a proper amount of water, the process of the decline of IRH can be delayed and the autogenous shrinkage can be reduced. The relationship among the amount of water imported by pre- wetted lightweight aggregate, IRH and AS was established. The result provides a new method of reducing early AS and enhancing early cracking resistance of HPC. 展开更多
