On the basis of existing techniques, a compact micro-displacement sensor of phase grating interference (PGI) is described, which adopts cylindrical hologram diffraction grating as the calibration standard. The optical principle of the sensor is explained, and the relation between the grating motion displacement and the phase shift of interference stripes is deduced. The improvement of the integral structure and the method of photoelectric signal processing are described in detail. With the software system based on the virtual instrument development platform Labwindows/CVI and other hardwares such as the precision displacement worktable, the surfaces of typical parts are measured and the characterization results are given. The sensor has wide measuring range and high resolution, its sensitivity and resolution being independent of the wavelength of the incident light. The vertical measuring range is 0-6 mm, and the vertical resolution is 0.005μm. The experimental results show that the sensor can be used to measure and characterize the surface topography parameters of the plane and curved surface. 展开更多

A refractive index(RI)sensor based on elliptical core photonic crystal fiber(EC-PCF)has been proposed. The asymmetric elliptical core introduces the polarization-dependent characteristics of the fiber core modes. The performances of intermodal interference between the intrinsic polarization fiber core modes are investigated by contrast in two interferometers based on the Mach-Zehnder(M-Z)and Sagnac interference model. In addition, the RI sensing characteristics of the two interferometers are studied by successively filling the three layers air holes closest to the elliptical core in the cladding. The results show that the M-Z interference between LP_(01)and LP_(11)mode in the same polarized direction is featured with the incremental RI sensing sensitivity as the decreasing interference length, and the infilled scope around the elliptical core has a weak correlation with the RI sensing sensitivity.Due to the high birefringence of LP11 mode, the Sagnac interferometer has better RI sensing performance, the maximum RI sensing sensitivity of 12000 nm/RIU is achieved under the innermost one layer air holes infilled with RI matching liquid of RI=1.39 at the pre-setting EC-PCF length of 12 cm,which is two orders of magnitude higher than the M-Z interferometer with the same fiber length. The series of theoretical optimized analysis would provide guidance for the applications in the field of biochemical sensing. 展开更多

The model of energy cost in a wireless sensor network (WSN)environment is built, and the energy awareness and the wireless interference mainly due to different path loss models are studied. A special case of a clustering scheme, a twodimensional grid clustering mechanism, is adopted. Clusterheads are rotated evenly among all sensor nodes in an efficient and decentralized manner, based on the residual energy in the battery and the random backoff time. In addition to transmitting and receiving packets within the sensors' electrical and amplification circuits, extra energy is needed in the retransmission of packets due to packet collisions caused by severe interference. By analysis and mathematical derivation, which are based on planar geometry, it is shown that the total energy consumed in the network is directly related to the gridstructure in the proposed grid based clustering mechanism. The transmission range is determined by cluster size, and the path loss exponent is determined by nodal separation. The summation of overall interference is caused by all the sensors that are transmitting concurrently. By analysis and simulation, an optimal grid structure with the corresponding grid size is presented, which balances between maximizing energy conservation and minimizing overall interference in wireless sensor networks. 展开更多

The superconducting quantum interference device(SQUID) amplifier is widely used in the field of weak signal detection for its low input impedance, low noise, and low power consumption. In this paper, the SQUIDs with identical junctions and the series SQUIDs with different junctions were successfully fabricated. The Nb/Al-AlOx/Nb trilayer and input Nb coils were prepared by asputtering equipment. The SQUID devices were prepared by a sputtering and the lift-off method.Investigations by AFM, OM and SEM revealed the morphology and roughness of the Nb films and Nb/Al-AlOx/Nb trilayer. In addition, the current–voltage characteristics of the SQUID devices with identical junction and different junction areas were measured at 2.5 K in the He^3 refrigerator. The results show that the SQUID modulation depth is obviously affected by the junction area. The modulation depth obviously increases with the increase of the junction area in a certain range. It is found that the series SQUID with identical junction area has a transimpedance gain of 58 Ω approximately. 展开更多
