Luminescent metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)have garnered significant attention due to their structural tunability and potential applications in solid-state lighting,bioimaging,sensing,anticounterfeiting,and other fields.Nevertheless,due to the tendency of1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid(BDC)to rotate within the framework,MOFs composed of it exhibit significant non-radiative energy dissipation and thus impair the emissive properties.In this study,efficient luminescence of MIL-140A nanocrystals(NCs)with BDC rotors as ligands is achieved by pressure treatment strategy.Pressure treatment effectively modulates the pore structure of the framework,enhancing the interactions between the N,N-dimethylformamide vip molecules and the BDC ligands.The enhanced host-vip interaction contributes to the structural rigidity of the MOF,thereby suppressing the rotation-induced excited-state energy loss.As a result,the pressure-treated MIL-140A NCs displayed bright blue-light emission,with the photoluminescence quantum yield increasing from an initial 6.8%to 69.2%.This study developed an effective strategy to improve the luminescence performance of rotor ligand MOFs,offers a new avenue for the rational design and synthesis of MOFs with superior luminescent properties. 展开更多

Chemical communication in plant–microbiome and intra-microbiome interactions weaves a complex network,critically shaping ecosystem stability and agricultural productivity.This non-contact interaction is driven by small-molecule signals that orchestrate crosstalk dynamics and beneficial association.Plants leverage these signals to distinguish between pathogens and beneficial microbes,dynamically modulate immune responses,and secrete exudates to recruit a beneficial microbiome,while microbes in turn influence plant nutrient acquisition and stress resilience.Such bidirectional chemical dialogues underpin nutrient cycling,co-evolution,microbiome assembly,and plant resistance.However,knowledge gaps persist regarding validating the key molecules involved in plant–microbe interactions.Interpreting chemical communication requires multi-omics integration to predict key information,genome editing and click chemistry to verify the function of biomolecules,and artificial intelligence(AI)models to improve resolution and accuracy.This review helps advance the understanding of chemical communication and provides theoretical support for agriculture to cope with food insecurity and climate challenges. 展开更多

Millimeter-scale interactions of nitrogen and potassium on denitrification,anammox,and Feammox in soil fertilization zones

Soil denitrification,anammox,and Feammox are key for nitrogen(N)removal in agriculture.Despite potassium(K)fertilizer enhancing N efficiency,their role in regulation of these processes is unclear.A soil column incubation with 15N isotope tracingwas conducted to explore millimeter-scale interactions of N and K on these pathways in soil fertilization zones.After 28 days,individual applications of N and K reduced denitrification-nitrogen removal rate(DNRR),anammox-nitrogen removal rate(ANRR),and feammox-nitrogen removal rate(FNRR)compared to a non-fertilizer control.N fertilizer had a greater effect than K,likely due to the high consumption of dissolved organic carbon by N fertilizer or the increased soil organic matter decomposition by K fertilizer.Combing of N and K increased DNRR,ANRR and FNRR rates by 31%,3090%and 244%compared to single N,and by-53.7%,885%and 222%compared to single K.These effects diminished with depth and distance from fertilizer sites.The effects of N fertilizer on these N removal processes might be regulate abundance of key microbes(e.g.,Limnobacter and Clostridium)and key gene(nirK,hzsB,ACM and Geo)by providing N substrates,while K enhances N metabolism efficiency through enzyme activation,indicated by the downregulation of certain genes(hzsB,ACM and Geo)and a negative correlation with N removal by simultaneously increasing gene expression and enzyme activity.These findings provide insights into how N and K together enhance N removal,emphasizing their importance for optimizing this process. 展开更多

Supramolecular materials,characterized by dynamic reversibility and responsiveness to environmental stimuli,have found widespread applications in numerous fields.Unlike traditional materials,supramolecular materials that rely on non-covalent interactions can allow spontaneous reorganization and self-healing at room temperature.However,these materials typically exhibit low strength due to the weak bonding energies of non-covalent interactions.This study presents the development of a high-strength self-healing supramolecular material that combines multiple interactions including ionic bonding,hydrogen bonding,and coordination bonding.The material,formed by the aggregation of the negatively charged picolinate-grafted copolymer(PCM)with positively charged hyperbranched molecules(HP),is further enhanced by Eu^(3+)ion complexation.The resulting film exhibits a high modulus of 427 MPa,tensile strength of 10.5 MPa,and toughness of 14.7 MJ m^(−3).Meanwhile,the non-covalent interaction of this supramolecular material endows it with a self-healing efficiency of 92%within 24 h at room temperature,as well as multiple remolding properties.The incorporation of lanthanide ions also imparts tunable fluorescence.This study not only provides insights into the development of high-strength self-healing materials but also offers new possibilities for the functionalization of supramolecular materials. 展开更多

Beryllium-containing sludge(BCS)is a typical hazardous waste from Be smelting,which can cause serious harm to ecology and human health by releasing harmful Be if it is stored long-term in environment.Nonetheless,the occurrence of Be in BCS is unclear,which seriously hinders the development of pollution control technologies.In order to enhance the understanding of BCS,the occurrence of Be and the microscale interactions with coexisting phases were investigated for the first time.It was found that CaSO_(4)·2H_(2)O and amorphous SiO_(2) are the primary phases of BCS.The simulated experiments of purified materials showed that Be interacted with CaSO_(4)·2H_(2)O and amorphous SiO_(2).Be can enter into the lattice of CaSO_(4)·2H_(2)O mainly as free Be2+.Amorphous SiO_(2) can adsorb Be2+particularly at a pH range of 3–5.The dissolution behavior experiment of BCS shows that about 52%of the Be is readily extracted under acidic conditions,which refers to the Be of independent occurrence.In contrast,the remaining 48%of Be can be extracted only after the CaSO_(4)·2H_(2)O has completely dissolved.Hence,CaSO_(4)·2H_(2)O is identified as the key occurrence phase which determines the highly efficient dissolution of Be.As a result,this study enhances the understanding of BCS and lays the foundation for the development of Be separation technologies. 展开更多

Based on the combination of B21C7/dialkylammonium salt host-vip interactions and tetraphenylethylene (TPE)-based aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effect, a fluorescent supramolecular crosslinked polymer gel was successfully prepared. Compared with the solution of TPE-containing small molecules, this gel exhibited remarkable fluorescence enhancement due to the AIE effect of TPE units. The "gelation induced fluorescence emission" phenomenon can be explained by the hindered intramolecular rotation of phenyl rings of TPE. Because of the reversibility and stimuli-responsiveness of the B21C7/dialkylammonium salt host-vip interactions, the transition between the fluorescent supramolecular crosslinked polymer gel and the disassembled sol with very weak fluorescence can be realized by adding pH and thermal stimuli. This novel material contributes to the development of supramolecular chemistry, polymer science and fluorescent materials and offers a new method to construct functional supramolecular materials. 展开更多

Using the split-step Fourier transform method, we numerically investigate the generation of breathing solitons in the propagation and interactions of Airy–Gaussian(AiG) beams in a cubic–quintic nonlinear medium in one transverse dimension. We show that the propagation of single AiG beams can generate stable breathing solitons that do not accelerate within a certain initial power range. The propagation direction of these breathing solitons can be controlled by introducing a launch angle to the incident AiG beams. When two AiG beams accelerated in opposite directions interact with each other,different breathing solitons and soliton pairs are observed by adjusting the phase shift, the beam interval, the amplitudes,and the light field distribution of the initial AiG beams. 展开更多

The United States,Russia and China are militarily and economically among the most powerful countries in the post-Cold War period,and the interactions between the three powers heavily influence the international system.However,different conclusions about this question are generally made by researchers through qualitative analysis,and it is necessary to objectively and quantitatively investigate their interactions.Monthly-aggregated event data from the Global Data on Events,Location and Tone(GDELT)to measure cooperative and conflictual interactions between the three powers,and the complementary cumulative distribution function(CCDF)and the vector autoregression(VAR)method are utilized to investigate their interactions in two periods:January,1991 to September,2001,and October,2001 to December,2016.The results of frequencies and strengths analysis showed that:the frequencies and strengths of USA-China interactions slightly exceeded those of USA-Russia interactions and became the dominant interactions in the second period.Although that cooperation prevailed in the three dyads in two periods,the conflictual interactions between the USA and Russia tended to be more intense in the second period,mainly related to the strategic contradiction between the USA and Russia,especially in Georgia,Ukraine and Syria.The results of CCDF indicated that similar probabilities in the cooperative behaviors between the three dyads,but the differences in the probabilities of conflictual behaviors in the USA-Russia dyad showed complicated characteristic,and those between Russia and China indicated that Russia had been consistently giving China a hard time in both periods when dealing with conflict.The USA was always an essential factor in affecting the interactions between Russia and China in both periods,but China’s behavior only played a limited role in influencing the interactions between the USA-Russia dyad.Our study provides quantitative insight into the direct cooperative and conflictual interactions between the three dyads since the end of the Cold War and helps to understand their interactions better. 展开更多

However, in this study, we tried to investigate whether unconscious processes could interact with each other by using simultaneously presented face pictures with the same or a different unconscious valence (SUV versus DUV). In the first event-related potential (ERP) study, DUV elicited a smaller N2 as compared with SUV. In the second functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) experiment, the left middle frontal gyrus (MFG) was activated under DUV condition in comparison to SUV condition. These results support the idea of interactions between unconscious processes (unconscious mismatch detection). Host-pathogen interactions are highly complex,involving large dynamic changes in gene expression during infection. These interactions are fundamental to understanding anti-infection immunity of hosts, as well as the pathogenesis of pathogens. For bacterial pathogens interacting with animal hosts, timeresolved dual RNA-seq of infected tissue is difficult to perform due to low pathogen load in infected tissue. In this study, an acute infection model of Larimichthys crocea infected by Pseudomonas plecoglossicida was established. The spleens of infected fish exhibited typical symptoms, with a maximum bacterial load at two days post-injection(dpi). Time-resolved dual RNA-seq of infected spleens was successfully applied to study hostpathogen interactions between L. crocea and P.plecoglossicida. The spleens of infected L. crocea were subjected to dual RNA-seq, and transcriptome data were compared with those of noninfected spleens or in vitro cultured bacteria. Results showed that pathogen-host interactions were highly dynamically regulated, with corresponding fluctuations in host and pathogen transcriptomes during infection. The expression levels of many immunogenes involved in cytokine-cytokine receptor,Toll-like receptor signaling, and other immunerelated pathways were significantly up-regulated during the infection period. Furthermore, metabolic processes and the use of oxygen in L. crocea were strongly affected by P. plecoglossicida infection. The WGCNA results showed that the metabolic process was strongly related to the entire immune process.For P. plecoglossicida, the expression levels of motility-related genes and flagellum assemblyrelated genes were significantly up-regulated. The results of this study may help to elucidate the interactions between L. crocea and P.plecoglossicida. 展开更多

Piezoelectric poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF)has received considerable attention due to its ability of interconverting mechanical into electric energies and potential applications in wearable electronics.To achieve piezoelectricity,it is important to simultaneously control the formation of polar phases,crystallinity,and dipole alignments in PVDF-based films.Here we demonstrate that piezoelectricity can be obtained by directly hot-pressing PVDF films sandwiched between chitosan or cellulose films.The electrostatic interactions between PVDF and chitosan or cellulose enabled an exceptional high content of polar phases(β-andγ-phases)up to 90%and a measured piezoelectric charge coefficient d_(33)of up to-30 pC/N.This study provides a simple and low-cost approach for obtaining piezoelectric PVDF films used for sensors,actuators,and energy harvesters. 展开更多

T shaped skin-stiffener joint are one of the most commonly used structures in aerospace components.It has been proven in various studies that these joints are susceptible to failure when loaded in pull out conditions however,in specific applications these joints undergo pull loading.De-lamination/de-bond nucleation and its growth is one of the most common failure mechanisms in a fiber reinforced composite structure.Crack growth takes place due to the induced interlaminar normal and shear stresses between different structural constituents when a load is applied.In this study,Finite Element Analysis has been performed using cohesive contact interactions on a composite T-joint to simulate the pull out test conditions.A simplified shell based model coupled with CZM is proposed,which can evaluate the failure initiation and progression accurately with lesser computational efforts.The final failure occurred at a displacement of 4.71 mm at the computed failure load of 472.57 kgf for basic configuration.Computed Failure load for the padded configuration is 672.8 kgf and corresponding displacement is 4.6 mm.The results obtained by the proposed numerical model are validated by experimental results and it is observed that predicted failure displacements and failure load calculated were correlating reasonably well with the experiment. 展开更多

Research on the spatial patterns of tree populations is critical for understanding the structure and dynamic processes of forests.However,little is known about how the underlying drivers shape these patterns and species interactions in forest systems.In this study,spatial point pattern analysis investigated the combined eff ects of intraspecifi c interactions and environmental heterogeneity on the spatial structure and internal maintenance mechanisms of Picea crassifolia in the Qilian Mountain National Nature Reserve,China.Data were obtained from a 10.2-ha dynamic monitoring plot(DMP)and sixteen 0.04-ha elevation gradient plots(EGPs).Under complete spatial randomness,both mature trees and saplings in the DMP demonstratedlarge-scale aggregation with negative correlations.In EGPs,saplings were clustered in small mesoscales,mature trees were randomly distributed,and the interactions of saplingstrees at all elevations were not correlated.By eliminating the interference of environmental heterogeneity through the inhomogeneous Poisson process,saplings in the DMP and EGPs were clustered in small scales and trees randomly distributed.Intraspecifi c associations were negatively correlated,in the DMP and at low elevations,and no correlations in high elevations of EGPs.In the vertical scale,saplings showed a small-scale aggregation pattern with increase in elevation,and the aggregation degree fi rst decreased and then increased.The interactions of saplings-trees and saplings–saplings showed inhibitions at small scales,with the degree of inhibition gradually decreasing.Spatial patterns and associations of adults–adults did not change signifi-cantly.The results revealed that intraspecifi c interactions and environmental heterogeneity regulated the spatial patterns of P.crassifolia at small and large scales,respectively.Environmental heterogeneity might be the most decisive factor aff ecting the spatial patterns of saplings,while trees were more aff ected by intraspecifi c interactions.Moreover,competition between trees in this area could be more common than facilitation for the growth and development of individuals. 展开更多

The coherent structure and instability of the interaction of incident shock wave with boundary layer developing on a compression corner are experimentally studied.The experiments are carried out in a supersonic wind tunnel of Mach number 2.Particular attention is paid to shock patterns and unsteady shock motions induced by the separation bubble.The high-speed schlieren is used to visualize the flowfield evolution and to characterize the instability.The snapshot proper orthogonal decomposition of schlieren sequences is applied to investigate the primary coherent structure in the flowfield.Fast Fourier transform and continuous wavelet transformation are applied to characterize the instability.The results show that there are large-scale low-frequency oscillations of the shock waves and small-scale high-frequency pulsations in the separation region.The peak frequency of shock oscillation is mainly concentrated in the range of 100–1000 Hz.The pulsation of the small flow structure in the separation bubble is mainly concentrated above 12.5 k Hz.Based on the results of experimental analysis,the preliminary mechanism of the largescale instability of such interaction is obtained. 展开更多

吹填珊瑚岛礁是我国南海疆域的重要陆地屏障,风机作为岛礁场地的供电设施,确保其地震安全性具有十分重要的意义。珊瑚砂的力学性质与一般陆相沉积物有明显区别,珊瑚砂土与风机结构的相互作用是影响风机结构地震响应的潜在因素之一,但目... 吹填珊瑚岛礁是我国南海疆域的重要陆地屏障,风机作为岛礁场地的供电设施,确保其地震安全性具有十分重要的意义。珊瑚砂的力学性质与一般陆相沉积物有明显区别,珊瑚砂土与风机结构的相互作用是影响风机结构地震响应的潜在因素之一,但目前还缺乏相关研究。本文采用Matasovic本构模型开发珊瑚砂的动力非线性本构,建立局部成层的三维吹填岛礁场地和NREL 5MW风机的非线性地震反应分析模型,设计刚性基础风机模型和考虑土—结构相互作用(Soil-Structure-Interaction,SSI)的风机-基础-地基整体模型,按持续时间和卓越频率选取四条代表性地震动,基于有限元模型对比分析不同地震动作用下风机的动力响应。计算分析表明:包含显著高频分量的地震动引起的吹填岛礁自由场的加速度响应更为显著,短持时的近断层地震动水平加速度放大系数平均为3.8,长持时的远断层地震动的平均放大系数为1.7;珊瑚岛礁和风机基础之间的SSI效应会增大风机的动力响应,在设防地震作用下,考虑SSI效应的塔筒位移最大增加0.24倍,应力增大0.87倍,剪力增大1.54倍,弯矩增大0.45倍,轴力增大0.23倍。吹填岛礁场地的风机地震响应分析应考虑SSI效应,以实现更可靠的抗震性能评估。 展开更多

Logic regression is an adaptive regression method which searches for Boolean (logic) combinations of binary variables that best explain the variability in the outcome, and thus, it reveals interaction effects which are associated with the response. In this study, we extended logic regression to longitudinal data with binary response and proposed “Transition Logic Regression Method” to find interactions related to response. In this method, interaction effects over time were found by Annealing Algorithm with AIC (Akaike Information Criterion) as the score function of the model. Also, first and second orders Markov dependence were allowed to capture the correlation among successive observations of the same individual in longitudinal binary response. Performance of the method was evaluated with simulation study in various conditions. Proposed method was used to find interactions of SNPs and other risk factors related to low HDL over time in data of 329 participants of longitudinal TLGS study. 展开更多
