This paper proposes 2.5-dimensional polymer micromachined insect-mimetic wings based on a fluid-structure interaction(FSI)design concept that enables natural deformations like cambering and pitching under fluid forces.Instead of directly employing an analysis for the FSI,an iterative structural Design Window(DW)search is used to reduce the computational cost significantly.A DW search using the iterative method refines the initial design by addressing fabrication challenges and tuning it to meet manufacturability constraints.The successful fabrication and demonstration of the final design solution for a wing demonstrates the effectiveness of the iterative DW search based on the FSI design concept.Furthermore,a pixel model is introduced to convert an unstructured to a structured mesh for the FSI analysis to further reduce the computational cost.The camber and pitching error between the unstructured and structured meshes is minimized to achieve insect-like aerodynamic performance by adjusting the elastic moduli of center and root veins.Finally,an analysis for the FSI is conducted,based on the parameters obtained from the pixel model to evaluate the flight performance on the basis of the lift,camber,and pitching required by an actual insect to maneuver and hover. 展开更多

This paper proposes an optimum design model for the offshore jacket platform considering multidesign criteria, multi-design constraints and the structure-pile-soil interaction, and gives an optimum design procedure in which the proposed optimum design model is used together with structural analysis software SAP91 and optimum algorithm software OPB1. The Chengbei (#)11 offshore platform, which lies in the Shengli oilfield, is designed by use of the above optimum design model. The results show that the optimum design model is stable, and it depends on neither the optimization algorithm nor initial values of design variables. All values of the objective function converge to the same minimum value, and the speed of convergence is high, showing that the proposed optimum design model is reasonable. 展开更多

According to the traditional design theory, the FBS design model pays more attention to the function and stru cture of the product. But this model still couldn’t strengthen the relation bet ween product appearance design and human-machine design effectively. This paper adopt converse design thinking and presents an improved design thinking methodo logy based on C: FBS for product appearance design and give a general summarizat ion for the features, methods and technology based on human-machine interaction and interface. Meanwhile it also combines with the behavior design of product r elated IT fields and constructs a new outline to improve the design of product a ppearance supported by the technology of computer aided design. So the new metho d about design thinking for computer aided design, the new abstract product design model and the key problem of design thinking based on human-machine inte raction and interface are addressed in this paper. This kind of creative design theory that is driven by human-machine interaction and interface will help the development of CAD software system and the research of product design and manufa cture. Additionally, this paper gives some beneficial characters to address the theory based on human-machine interaction and interface. Robust Parameter Design(RPD) has been widely applied for improving quality and reliability of products.One of the key drawbacks of applying RPD using Taguchi method is that the stable factors may not be independent of the adjustment factors, resulting in unsatisfactory design.Moreover, the Taguchi method cannot guarantee global optimality since the levels set in the experiment are usually discrete to ensure orthogonal design.In this paper, robust solutions of the stable factors are obtained via a nonlinear model based on polynomial fitting;while the adjustment factors are obtained via interactions analysis so that they are independent of the stable factors.In particular, the values of the adjustment factors are determined by output offset compensation so as to achieve robustness of the design scheme.An example on the design of an aeronautical electrical apparatus is presented to illustrate the procedure.The results show that the proposed method can take full advantage of the nonlinearity in the response and achieve the desired outcome. 展开更多

Rational architecture design has turned out to be an effective strategy in improving the electrochemical performance of electrode materials for batteries.However,an elaborate structure that could simultaneously endow active materials with promoted reaction reversibility,accelerated kinetic and restricted volume change still remains a huge challenge.Herein,a novel chemical interaction motivated structure design strategy has been proposed,and a chemically bonded Co(CO_(3))_(0.5)OH·0.11 H_(2)O@MXene(CoCH@MXene)layered-composite was fabricated for the first time.In such a composite,the chemical interaction between Co^(2+)and MXene drives the growth of smaller-sized CoCH crystals and the subsequent formation of interwoven CoCH wires sandwiched in-between MXene nanosheets.This unique layered structure not only encourages charge transfer for faster reaction dynamics,but buffers the volume change of CoCH during lithiation-delithiation process,owing to the confined crystal growth between conductive MXene layers with the help of chemical bonding.Besides,the sandwiched interwoven CoCH wires also prevent the stacking of MXene layers,further conducive to the electrochemical performance of the composite.As a result,the as-prepared CoCH@MXene anode demonstrates a high reversible capacity(903.1 mAh g^(-1)at 100 mA g^(-1))and excellent cycling stability(maintains 733.6 mAh g^(-1)at1000 mA g^(-1)after 500 cycles)for lithium ion batteries.This work highlights a novel concept of layerby-layer chemical interaction motivated architecture design for futuristic high performance electrode materials in energy storage systems. 展开更多

Background Virtual reality(VR)in healthcare training has increased adoption and support,but efforts are still required to mitigate usability concerns.Methods This study conducted a usability study of an in-use emergency medicine VR training application,available on commercially available VR hardware and with a standard interaction design.Nine users without prior VR experience but with relevant medical expertise completed two simulation scenarios for a total of 18 recorded sessions.They completed NASA Task Load Index and System Usability Scale questionnaires after each session,and their performance was recorded for the tracking of user errors.Results and Conclusions Our results showed a medium(and potentially optimal)Workload and an above average System Usability Score.There was significant improvement in several factors between users'first and second sessions,notably increased Performance evaluation.User errors with the strongest correlation to usability were not directly tied to interaction design,however,but to a limited'possibility space'.Suggestions for closing this'gulf of execution'were presented,including'voice control'and'hand-tracking',which are only feasible for this commercial product now with the availability of the Oculus Quest headset.Moreover,wider implications for VR medical training were outlined,and potential next steps towards a standardized design identified. 展开更多

Due to the deformation ability even under small loads, hydrogels have been widely used as a type of soft materials in various applications such as actuating and sensing, and have attracted many researchers to study their behaviors. In this paper, the behavior of hydrogel micro-valves with reverse sensitivity to the p H inside a T-junction flow sorter is investigated. With the fluid-structure interaction(FSI) approach, the effects of various parameters such as the inlet pressure and the p H value on the stress and deformation of the micro-valves are examined, and the results with and without FSI,including the flow rate and the closure p H, are compared. In order to reduce the response time of hydrogels, the effects of three different patterns on the performance of the microvalves are explored. Eventually, it is concluded that FSI is a key influential factor in designing and analyzing the behaviors of hydrogels. 展开更多

Prototyping activities ma... Because of the evolution of markets and technologies, prototyping concerns should be kept updated almost day by day. Moreover, user centered design moves the focus towards interaction issues. Prototyping activities matching such characteristics are already available, but they are not so diffused in the industrial domain. This is due to many reasons;an important one is that a rigorous classification of them is missing, as well as an effective helping tool for the selection of the best activities, given the design context. The research described in this paper aims at defining a new classification of prototyping activities, as well as at developing a selection algorithm to choose the best ones in an automatic way. These goals are pursued by defining a set of characteristics that allow describing accurately the prototyping activities. The resulting classification is made by five classes, based on eighteen characteristics. This classification is exploited by the first release of an algorithm for the selection of the best activities, chosen in order to satisfy design situations described thanks to a different set of eleven indices. Five experiences in the field have been used up to now as a starting point for validating the research outcomes. 展开更多

Subway stations spaces are important examples of public spaces that are in close connection with the social life of people. Also, the fact that the social interactions and relations between people and city environments are becoming indispensable for subway station space indicates that these spaces play an essential role in urban life. This paper addresses the result of a study conducted by the authors on the influential elements pivotal to the improvement of social interactions in subway stations. The theory of John Lang in Urban design with consideration of social interaction was considered in this study. The objective of the study was to identify the architectural requirements in improving social interaction between people and environment in subway station spaces according to an evidence based design approach. To do so, relevant literature in different disciplines, architecture, urban design, social sustainability and so on, were reviewed Next, the most important environmental factors which contribute to human behavior in public spaces were derived and analyzed. Data of the study were collected via questionnaires filled out by the users of Tehran's subway stations. The collected data were analyzed and the architectural elements/requirements for improving social interactions were classified. The results of the study indicate that in the case of architectural requirements, contribution to the improvement of social interactions, design considerations for physical and mental safety, accessibility and lighting are the most important factors. 展开更多

N-11-azaartemisinins potentially active against Plasmodium falciparum are designed by combining molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), ligand-receptor interaction, and models built with supervised machine learning m... N-11-azaartemisinins potentially active against Plasmodium falciparum are designed by combining molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), ligand-receptor interaction, and models built with supervised machine learning methods (PCA, HCA, KNN, SIMCA, and SDA). The optimization of molecular structures was performed using the B3LYP/6-31G* approach. MEP maps and ligand-receptor interactions were used to investigate key structural features required for biological activities and likely interactions between N-11-azaartemisinins and heme, respectively. The supervised machine learning methods allowed the separation of the investigated compounds into two classes: cha and cla, with the properties ε<sub>LUMO+1</sub> (one level above lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy), d(C<sub>6</sub>-C<sub>5</sub>) (distance between C<sub>6</sub> and C<sub>5</sub> atoms in ligands), and TSA (total surface area) responsible for the classification. The insights extracted from the investigation developed and the chemical intuition enabled the design of sixteen new N-11-azaartemisinins (prediction set), moreover, models built with supervised machine learning methods were applied to this prediction set. The result of this application showed twelve new promising N-11-azaartemisinins for synthesis and biological evaluation. 展开更多

Fano-like quantum routing of single photons in a system with two waveguides coupled to two collocated atoms is investigated theoretically. Using a full quantum theory in real space, photonic scattering amplitudes along four ports of the waveguide network are analytically obtained. It is shown that, by adjusting the atomic dipole-dipole interaction, an evident Fano-line shape emerges in the scattering spectra of the single-dot configuration system. Moreover, Fano resonance can also be achieved by varying the atom-waveguide coupling strength and atomic detuning, in the presence of the atomic dipole-dipole interaction. Therefore, the atomic dipole-dipole interaction may be utilized as a possible way to control spectral Fano-like resonance. The feasibility with the experimental waveguide channels is also discussed. 展开更多

With the increasing of people’s living standard, people on the industrial product requirements are constantly increasing, industrial products have gradually become to meet people’s life comfortable, functional, aesthetic and cultural history of the pursuit of all kinds of needs and the carrier of many connotations it is because of these changes in art design. In this paper, we integrate the Bauhaus’ idea to construct the new idea of constructing the interaction design and visual reconstruction. To note here that includes both the facts to the reality of the fact that also includes the artistic truth, or “virtual reality experience such as writer”, sequence of works of art, etc., and the former is an artist biography, the object of art history. With these basis and references, we propose the new idea on the issues. The result is satisfactory. 展开更多
