Spectral-Integrated Neural Networks for Transient Heat Conduction in Thin-Walled Structures

An efficient data-driven numerical framework is developed for transient heat conduction analysis in thin-walled structures.The proposed approach integrates spectral time discretization with neural network approximation,forming a spectral-integrated neural network(SINN)scheme tailored for problems characterized by long-time evolution.Temporal derivatives are treated through a spectral integration strategy based on orthogonal polynomial expansions,which significantly alleviates stability constraints associated with conventional time-marching schemes.A fully connected neural network is employed to approximate the temperature-related variables,while governing equa-tions and boundary conditions are enforced through a physics-informed loss formulation.Numerical investigations demonstrate that the proposed method maintains high accuracy even when large time steps are adopted,where standard numerical solvers often suffer from instability or excessive computational cost.Moreover,the framework exhibits strong robustness for ultrathin configurations with extreme aspect ratios,achieving relative errors on the order of 10−5 or lower.These results indicate that the SINN framework provides a reliable and efficient alternative for transient thermal analysis of thin-walled structures under challenging computational conditions. 展开更多

In aerospace,nuclear power,and new energy vehicles industries,utilizing integrated metal components with extreme sizes and/or structures is crucial for achieving significant weight-saving,performance-improvement,and excellent reliability.These components,made from metal sheets,rings,or tubes,exhibit characteristics like ultra-thin,ultra-thick,ultra-large,ultra-long,ultra-high ribs,and large variable diameters.During plastic de-formation in metal forming processes,defects such as ruptures,wrinkles,excessive strain differences,and un-expected weak performance areas are likely to occur due to the intersection of multiple effects in different research disciplines,including materials science,processes,and mechanics of materials.Consequently,the smooth forming of integrated parts is difficult.It is the first time to review,summarize,and analyze the ad-vancement of forming methods for producing integrated parts with extreme sizes and structures.The general academic ideas to change the process conditions and sequences to optimize stress state and improve plastic deformation ability for forming the components with extreme sizes/structures are introduced.Practical ex-amples,discussed in detail in the paper,include the forming of(i)integrated ultra-thin and ultra-thick sheet components;(ii)integrated ultra-large size ring components with thin wall and high ribs;and(iii)integrated ultra-long tube components with large perimeter difference.Various plasticity technologies and process se-quences have been developed.The key processes and applications of the technologies are discussed in detail,which achieve successful plastic forming of integrated components.This paper provides state-of-the-art and perspectives for the rapidly advancing material forming fields of key metal components for the next generation of equipment. 展开更多

To detect space gravitational waves in the extremely low-frequency band,the telescope and optic-al platform require high stability and reliability.However,the cantilevered design presents challenges,espe-cially in the glass-metal hetero-bonding process.This study focuses on the analysis and experimental re-search of the bonding layer in the integrated structure.By optimizing the structural configuration and select-ing suitable bonding processes,the reliability of the telescope system is enhanced.The research indicates that using J-133 adhesive achieves the best performance,with a bonding layer thickness of 0.30 mm and a metal substrate surface roughness of Ra 0.8.These findings significantly enhance the reliability of the optical sys-tem while minimizing potential risks. 展开更多

This study pioneers the integrated fabrication of magnesium corrugated-core sandwich structures using wire-arc directed energy deposition(WA-DED).Two sandwich structures—V-type and X-type—were designed with optimized deposition paths to achieve comparable grain morphology while enhancing strength.The compression properties and failure modes of the two corrugated-core sandwich structures were examined through quasi-static compression tests.Results showed that the V-type structure exhibited a higher specific compressive strength(93 MPa∙cm^(3)/g)than the X-type structure(72 MPa∙cm^(3)/g).Both finite element analysis and experimental compression tests indicated that failure occurred at the midsection of the corrugated core.This work offers valuable insights for the efficient fabrication of high-strength corrugated-core sandwich structures. 展开更多

The effect of changing Be doping concentration in GaAs layer on the integrated photosensitivity for nega- tive-electron-affinity GaAs photocathodes is investigated. Two GaAs samples with the monolayer structure and the muhilayer structure are grown by molecular beam epitaxy. The former has a constant Be concentration of 1 × 10^19 cm^-3, while the latter includes four layers with Be doping concentrations of 1 × 10^19, 7 × 10^18, 4 × 10^18, and 1 × 10^18 cm^-3 from the bottom to the surface. Negative-electron-affinity GaAs photocathodes are fabricated by exciting the sample surfaces with alternating input of Cs and O in the high vacuum system. The spectral response results measured by the on-line spectral response measurement system show that the integrated photosensitivity of the photocathode with the muhilayer structure enhanced by at least 50% as compared to that of the monolayer structure. This attributes to the improvement in the crystal quality and the increase in the surface escape probability. Different stress situations are observed on GaAs samples with monolayer structure and muhilayer structure, respectively. 展开更多

In order to investigate the correlation between reactor performance and the microorganisms,an integrated A/O reactor was operated for 72 days to treat diluted livestock wastewater.Chemical oxygen demand(COD)removal efficiency increased from 79%to 94%,with total nitrogen(TN)removal efficiency from 37%to 50%(HRT 7.4 hr)when the influent COD and TN were ca.1500 mg/L and 95 mg/L,respectively,and the outlet COD concentration was less than 100 mg/L at the end.Microbial community was monitored during start-up period by denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(DGGE)based on 16S rRNA gene.DGGE profiles showed that microbial community had changed significantly during the start-up and these shifts were in accordance with the reactor performance.UPGMA clustering analysis showed that 14 anaerobic samples fell into five main groups and so did the aerobic ones,but the grouping patterns were different.Phylogenetic analysis indicated that microbial populations in the anaerobic compartment belonged to Firmicutes,Proteobacteria,Chloroflexi and Bacteroidetes,while Proteobacteria,Bacteroidetes,Firmicutes,Verrucomicrobiae and Nitrospira were present in the aerobic compartment.In the anaerobic compartment,more fermentative and acetogenic bacteria were detected during the start-up while denitrifying bacteria faded away.Two functional populations such as Nitrospira defluvii and Dechloromonas denitrificans were observed when nitrogen removal was high,indicating that simultaneous nitrification and denitrification occurred in the aerobic compartment. 展开更多

The purpose is to study the seismic reduction effect of an isolated structure,with wind-resistant bearings( WRBs) setting on its isolation layer to withstand great wind load,and the working mechanism of the WRB. In this paper,two isolation models with /without WRBs,taking an actual engineering as the background,are established in the finite element software ETABS. The one with WRBs has horizontal damping coefficient less than 0. 40 while the other between 0. 40 and 0. 53. WRBs are simulated by Plastic 1element and the collaborative work between them and isolation layer is described by a mechanical model. Time history analysis is conducted on the models to compare their responses under earthquake excitations. Results show that the one with WRBs,but less lead-rubber bearings( LRBs),has better damping effect than the other,although they both can meet wind requirements. It is also shown that under normal conditions and small earthquakes,WRBs function well and the isolation layer will not yield; under moderate earthquakes,WRBs will yield and be destroyed to stop functioning but without affecting the damping effect of the upper structure.Additionally, the total yield shear force provided by LRBs is proposed to be close to the standard value of wind load. 展开更多

A compact structured illumination chip based on integrated optics is proposed and fabricated on a silicon-on- insulator platform. Based on the simulation of Caussian beam interference, we adopt a chirped diffraction grating to achieve a specific interference pattern. The experimental results match well with the simulations. The portability and flexibility of the structured illumination chip can be increased greatly through horizontal encapsulation. High levels of integration, compared with the conventional structured illumination approach, make this chip very compact, with a footprint of only around 1 mm2. The chip has no optical lenses and can be easily combined with a microfluidic system. These properties would make the chip very suitable for portable 3D scanner and compact super-resolution microscopy applications. 展开更多

Vertical picking method is a predominate method used to harvest cotton crop.However,a vertical picking method may cause spindle bending of the cotton picker if spindles collide with stones on the cotton field.Thus,how to realize a precise height control of the cotton picker is a crucial issue to be solved.The objective of this study is to design a height control system to avoid the collision.To design it,the mathematical models are established first.Then a multi-objective optimization model represented by structure parameters and control parameters is proposed to take the pressure of chamber without piston,response time and displacement error of the height control system as the opti-mization objectives.An integrated optimization approach that combines optimization via simulation,particle swarm optimization and simulated annealing is proposed to solve the model.Simulation and experimental test results show that the proposed integrated optimization approach can not only reduce the pressure of chamber without piston,but also decrease the response time and displacement error of the height control system. 展开更多

Additive manufacturing (AM) technology is a new fabrication pattern with a character of a lay-by-lay material deposition. The components are fabricated in a bottom-up way, from points, lines, to layers and volume, which provided a capability to solve the impossible integrated fabrication problem for micro- and macro-structure by using conventional manufacturing technologies. Thus, based on integrated fabrication of micro- and macro- structures, research team in Xi’an Jiaotong University has been focusing on technological innovations and applications of advanced additive manufacturing technologies. Novel additive manufacturing principles have been proposed and explored, by which new AM processes and equipment for met- als, composites, ceramics, and biomaterials have been developed to support the industrial applications. By combination of dynamics of flexible structure and control theory, a PD feedback control system, which minimizes the settling time, has been designed. Then, the viable region of poles of the PD dosed-loop control system is decided according to overshoot and the settling time, and an integrated optimal model of structure and control of single arm manipulator is presented. From a dialectical materialistic point of view the physical character of geographical environment of the earth surface is the unity in diversity. It is on such grounds that the two basic characteristics were put forth by the author in his monograph 'Physical Structure of South American Geographical Environment' as the underlying theme. This holds true for the hierarchy of physical regions. For instance, the physical environment of the earth surface in unity behaves as a huge whole, yet, in differentiation into continents, it displays disparity; each continent differs from others and becomes an integrity in its own right. The same is true of regions of lower levels. A hierarchical structural decomposition analysis(SDA) model has been developed based on process-level input-output(I-O) tables to analyze the drivers of energy consumption changes in an integrated steel plant during 2011-2013. By combining the principle of hierarchical decomposition into D&L method, a hierarchical decomposition model for multilevel SDA is obtained. The developed hierarchical IO-SDA model would provide consistent results and need less computation effort compared with the traditional SDA model. The decomposition results of the steel plant suggest that the technology improvement and reduced steel final demand are two major reasons for declined total energy consumption. The technical improvements of blast furnaces, basic oxygen furnaces, the power plant and the by-products utilization level have contributed mostly in reducing energy consumption. A major retrofit of ancillary process units and solving fuel substitution problem in the sinter plant and blast furnace are important for further energy saving. Besides the empirical results, this work also discussed that why and how hierarchical SDA can be applied in a process-level decomposition analysis of aggregated indicators. 展开更多

In the design process of advanced aero-engines,it is necessary to carry out an effective analysis method between structural features and mechanical characteristics for a better structural optimization.Based on the structural composition and functions of aero-engines,the concept and contents of structural efficiency can reflect the relation between structural features and mechanical characteristics.In order to achieve the integrated design of structural and mechanical characteristics,one quantitative analysis method called Structural Efficiency Assessment Method(SEAM)was put forward.The structural efficiency coefficient was obtained by synthesizing the parameters to quantitatively evaluate the aero-engine structure design level.Parameterization method to evaluate structural design quality was realized.After analyzing the structural features of an actual dual-rotor system in typical high bypass ratio turbofan engines,the mechanical characteristics and structural efficiency coefficient were calculated.Structural efficiency coefficient of high-pressure rotor(0.43)is higher than that of low-pressure rotor(0.29),which directly shows the performance of the former is better,there is room for improvement in structural design of the low-pressure rotor.Thus the direction of structural optimization was pointed out.The applications of SEAM shows that the method is operational and effective in the evaluation and improvement of structural design. 展开更多

To ensure the structural integrity of life-limiting component of aeroengines,Probabilistic Damage Tolerance(PDT)assessment is applied to evaluate the failure risk as required by airworthiness regulations and military standards.The PDT method holds the view that there exist defects such as machining scratches and service cracks in the tenon-groove structures of aeroengine disks.However,it is challenging to conduct PDT assessment due to the scarcity of effective Probability of Detection(POD)model and anomaly distribution model.Through a series of Nondestructive Testing(NDT)experiments,the POD model of real cracks in tenon-groove structures is constructed for the first time by employing the Transfer Function Method(TFM).A novel anomaly distribution model is derived through the utilization of the POD model,instead of using the infeasible field data accumulation method.Subsequently,a framework for calculating the Probability of Failure(POF)of the tenon-groove structures is established,and the aforementioned two models exert a significant influence on the results of POF. 展开更多

The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate an integrated optimization scheme for a solar-powered drone structure.Consider a primary beam in the wing of large aspect ratio,where 100 lithium batteries are assembled.In the proposed integrated optimization,the batteries are considered here as parts of the load-carrying structure.The corresponding mechanical behaviors are simulated in the structural design and described with super-elements.The batteries layout and the structural topology are then introduced as mixed design variables and optimized simultaneously to achieve an accordant load-carrying path.Geometrical nonlinearity is considered due to the large deformation.Different periodic structural configurations are tested in the optimization in order to meet the structural manufacturing and assembly convenience.The optimized designs are rebuilt and tested in different load cases.Maintaining the same structural weight,the global mechanical performances are improved greatly compared with the initial design. 展开更多
