Computational Assessment of Information System Reliability Using Hybrid MCDM Models

The reliability of information systems(IS)is a key factor in the sustainable operation of modern digital services.However,existing assessment methods remain fragmented and are often limited to individual indicators or expert judgments.This paper proposes a hybridmethodology for a comprehensive assessment of IS reliability based on the integration of the international standard ISO/IEC 25010:2023,multicriteria analysismethods(ARAS,CoCoSo,and TOPSIS),and theXGBoostmachine learning algorithmfor missing data imputation.Thestructure of the ISO/IEC 25010 standard is used to formalize reliability criteria and subcriteria,while theAHP method allows for the calculation of their weighting coefficients based on expert assessments.The XGBoost algorithm ensures the correct filling of gaps in the source data,increasing the completeness and reliability of the subsequent assessment.The resulting weighted indicators are aggregated using threeMCDMmethods,after which an integral reliability indicator is formed as a percentage.The methodology was tested on six real-world information systems with different architectures.The results demonstrated high consistency between the ARAS,CoCoSo,and TOPSISmethods,as well as the stability of the final rating when the criterion weights vary by±10%.The proposed approach provides a reproducible,transparent,and objective assessment of information system reliability and can be used to identify system bottlenecks,make modernization decisions,and manage the quality of digital infrastructure. 展开更多

A Hierarchical Attention Framework for Business Information Systems:Theoretical Foundation and Proof-of-Concept Implementation

Modern business information systems face significant challenges in managing heterogeneous data sources,integrating disparate systems,and providing real-time decision support in complex enterprise environments.Contemporary enterprises typically operate 200+interconnected systems,with research indicating that 52% of organizations manage three or more enterprise content management systems,creating information silos that reduce operational efficiency by up to 35%.While attention mechanisms have demonstrated remarkable success in natural language processing and computer vision,their systematic application to business information systems remains largely unexplored.This paper presents the theoretical foundation for a Hierarchical Attention-Based Business Information System(HABIS)framework that applies multi-level attention mechanisms to enterprise environments.We provide a comprehensive mathematical formulation of the framework,analyze its computational complexity,and present a proof-of-concept implementation with simulation-based validation that demonstrates a 42% reduction in crosssystem query latency compared to legacy ERP modules and 70% improvement in prediction accuracy over baseline methods.The theoretical framework introduces four hierarchical attention levels:system-level attention for dynamic weighting of business systems,process-level attention for business process prioritization,data-level attention for critical information selection,and temporal attention for time-sensitive pattern recognition.Our complexity analysis demonstrates that the framework achieves O(n log n)computational complexity for attention computation,making it scalable to large enterprise environments including retail supply chains with 200+system-scale deployments.The proof-of-concept implementation validates the theoretical framework’s feasibility withMSE loss of 0.439 and response times of 0.000120 s per query,demonstrating its potential for addressing key challenges in business information systems.This work establishes a foundation for future empirical research and practical implementation of attention-driven enterprise systems. 展开更多

This research pioneers the integration of geographic information systems(GIS)and 3D modeling within a virtual reality(VR)framework to assess the viability and planning of a 20 MW hybrid wind-solarphotovoltaic(PV)system connected to the local grid.The study focuses on Dakhla,Morocco,a region with vast untapped renewable energy potential.By leveraging GIS,we are innovatively analyzing geographical and environmental factors that influence optimal site selection and system design.The incorporation of VR technologies offers an unprecedented level of realism and immersion,allowing stakeholders to virtually experience the project's impact and design in a dynamic,interactive environment.This novel methodology includes extensive data collection,advanced modeling,and simulations,ensuring that the hybrid system is precisely tailored to the unique climatic and environmental conditions of Dakhla.Our analysis reveals that the region possesses a photovoltaic solar potential of approximately2400 k Wh/m^(2) per year,with an average annual wind power density of about 434 W/m^(2) at an 80-meter hub height.Productivity simulations indicate that the 20 MW hybrid system could generate approximately 60 GWh of energy per year and 1369 GWh over its 25-year lifespan.To validate these findings,we employed the System Advisor Model(SAM)software and the Global Solar Photovoltaic Atlas platform.This comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach not only provides a robust assessment of the system's feasibility but also offers valuable insights into its potential socio-economic and environmental impact. 展开更多

This study analyzes the User Interface(UI)and User Experience(UX)of information systems that provide local government information.The systems analyzed are the Local Administrative Comprehensive Information Disclosure System(Zheripan),the Integrated Local Financial Disclosure System(Qinching Online),and the Local Regulations Information System(12348 Zhejiang Legal Network).The Local Administrative Comprehensive Information Disclosure System offers public service and personnel information,while the Integrated Local Financial Disclosure System provides financial information,and the Local Regulations Information System offers legal information as its main content.The analysis framework utilized three elements:objective data,psychological factors,and heuristic evaluation.The results of the first objective data analysis show that approximately 70%of visits to Zheripan and Qinching Online are through search,and the time spent on the homepage is short.In contrast,about 70%of visits to the 12348 Zhejiang Legal Network are direct visits,with users browsing multiple pages with a clear purpose.In terms of data provision methods,Zheripan provides two types of data in three formats,Qinching Online offers 28 types of data in five formats,and 12348 Zhejiang Legal Network provides one type of information in a single format.The second psychological factor analysis found that all three websites had a number of menus suitable for short-term cognitive capacity.However,only one of the sites had a layout that considered the user’s eye movement.Finally,the heuristic evaluation revealed that most of the evaluation criteria were not met.While the design is relatively simple and follows standards,feedback for users,error prevention,and help options were lacking.Moreover,the user-specific usability was low,and the systems remained at the information-providing level.Based on these findings,both short-term and long-term improvement measures for creating an interactive system beyond simple information disclosure are proposed. 展开更多

Effectiveness of Logistics Management Information System (LMIS) in Improving the Availability of Essential Medicines and Medical Supplies in Public Hospitals in Zambia: A Cross-Sectional Study

Background: The availability of essential medicines and medical supplies is crucial for effectively delivering healthcare services. In Zambia, the Logistics Management Information System (LMIS) is a key tool for managing the supply chain of these commodities. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of LMIS in ensuring the availability of essential medicines and medical supplies in public hospitals in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia. Materials and Methods: From February to April 2022, a cross-sectional study was conducted in 12 public hospitals across the Copperbelt Province. Data were collected using structured questionnaires, checklists, and stock control cards. The study assessed LMIS availability, training, and knowledge among pharmacy personnel, as well as data accuracy, product availability, and order fill rates. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the data. Results: All surveyed hospitals had LMIS implemented and were using eLMIS as the primary LMIS. Only 47% and 48% of pharmacy personnel received training in eLMIS and Essential Medicines Logistics Improvement Program (EMLIP), respectively. Most personnel demonstrated good knowledge of LMIS, with 77.7% able to log in to eLMIS Facility Edition, 76.6% able to locate stock control cards in the system, and 78.7% able to perform transactions. However, data accuracy from physical and electronic records varied from 0% to 60%, and product availability ranged from 50% to 80%. Order fill rates from Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) were consistently below 30%. Discrepancies were observed between physical stock counts and eLMIS records. Conclusion: This study found that most hospitals in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia have implemented LMIS use. While LMIS implementation is high in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia, challenges such as low training levels, data inaccuracies, low product availability, and order fill rates persist. Addressing these issues requires a comprehensive approach, including capacity building, data quality improvement, supply chain coordination, and investment in infrastructure and human resources. Strengthening LMIS effectiveness is crucial for improving healthcare delivery and patient outcomes in Zambia. 展开更多

The purpose of this paper is to provide empirical evidence for the validity of the relationship between service-oriented manufacturing information system (SMIS) customization and performance from three aspects: data flexibility, process flexibility and system flexibility. We select some questionnaires from the third round of High-performance manufacturing (HPM) data to construct the construct, verify the reliability and validity of the construct, extract principal components, and analyze the mediating effect by using multiple chain linear regression and structural equation model. The results show that SMIS customization has a significant impact on its performance, and this effect works through its flexibility. More specifically, it is the multiple chain mediation effect composed of data flexibility, process flexibility and system flexibility. The importance of SMIS customization and flexibility to the organization is made clear, which helps practitioners understand the internal mechanism that affects SMIS performance, so as to use limited resources to improve system performance. 展开更多

Educational institutions implement school information system (IS) solutions for efficient academic processes and improve the student experience, and thus tend to upgrade to new school IS, ceasing the use of old school IS. Extant studies of information system discontinuance are in organizational in general. This study is solely a school organization setting, specifically a thorough understanding of contributing factors that facilitate the intention of school information system (IS) discontinuance. Organizational level IS discontinuance intention OLIDI model was used as a lens and anchored by grounded theory. Semi-Structured interviews were used to collect data from school administrators and users of information system (IS) of Surigao State College of Technology. A qualitative statistics approach and coding of words are used to analyze the intention of IS discontinuance and provide model for school setting IS discontinuance. The findings show that system shortcomings, organizational initiative, environmental change, system investment, and institutional pressures were the critical determinants of increased intentions to replace the existing school information system (IS). The study findings are useful to school administrators to identify long term flexibility required for policies to overcome the capability of shortcomings that emerge over the system life span and underline risk associated with continued use of unsupported systems. 展开更多

For technical and other reasons there is a dilemma that data providers cannot find an appropriate way to redistribute spatial forest data and data users who need spatial data cannot access and integrate available forest resources information. To overcome this dilemma, this paper proposed a spatial forest information system based on Web service using an open source software approach. With Web service based architecture, the system can enable interoperability, integrate Web services from other application servers, reuse codes, and shorten the development time and cost. At the same time, it is possible to extend the local system to a regional or national spatial forest information system. The growth of Open Source Software (OSS) provides an alternative choice to proprietary software for operating systems, web servers, Web-based GIS applications and database management systems. Using open source software to develop spatial forest information systems can greatly reduce the cost while providing high performance and sharing spatial forest information. We chose open source software to build a prototype system for Xixia County, Henan Province, China. By integrating OSS packages Deegree and UMN MapServer which are compliant to the OGC open specifications, the prototype system enables users to access spatial forest information and travelling information of Xixia County which come from two different data servers via a standard Web browser and promotes spatial forest information sharing. 展开更多

Methods: Based on geographic information system technology, the management information system for SARS disease in Shaanxi province of China was established using "SuperMap Objects 3.0" GIS development platform and Delphi 7.0.Results: The following functions were implemented in the system: the real-time collection and monitoring, management and analysis, dissemination of SARS disease information, and assistant decision-making support for prevention against SARS disease. The study has found that the attitudes of study sample have been positive toward the role of accounting information systems in activating the role of the responsibility accounting in the Jordanian industrial companies. The study has also found that there is a role for accounting information systems in activating the role of the responsibility accounting in the Jordanian industrial companies. The study also found that the role of accounting information systems in activating the role of the responsibility accounting in the Jordanian industrial companies does not vary depending on the educational qualification of employees. In addition, the role of accounting information systems in activating the role of responsibility accounting in the Jordanian industrial companies varies depending on the practical experience of the employee. The study has made several recommendations, including: focusing attention on the disclosure of social activities in industrial companies, in addition to focusing on the development of equipment used in information systems at the company. 展开更多

As a result, it is not surprising that in spite of decades of research, dozens of conferences and journals and thousands of researchers, very few breakthroughs have been achieved. This paper advocates a technical approach that focuses on improving existing systems in organizations by viewing them from the point of roles i.e. functions fulfilled by IS in organizations. These are understood as: 1) supporting operations, 2) providing information, 3) supporting decision making, 4) providing knowledge, 5) supporting knowledge and clerical work, and 6) supporting organizational design. It is generally agreed that the field’s understanding of fulfilling roles “1”, “2”, “3” and “6” is mature while understanding of areas “3” (for unstructured decisions), “4”, and “5” are still incomplete. The challenges in these areas are difficult problems that we refer to as grand challenges and discuss in this paper. 展开更多

Research about the auto commuter's pre-trip route choice behavior ignores the combined influence of the real-time information and all respondents' historical information in the existing documents.To overcome this shortcoming,an approach to describing the pre-trip route choice behavior with the incorporation of the real-time and historical information is proposed.Two types of real-time information are investigated,which are quantitative information and prescriptive information.By using the bounded rationality theory,the influence of historical information on the real-time information reference process is examined first.Estimation results show that the historical information has a significant influence on the quantitative information reference process,but not on the prescriptive information reference process.Then the route choice behavior is modeled.A comparison is also made among three route choice models,one of which does not incorporate the real-time information reference process,while the others do.Estimation results show that the route choice behavior is better described with the consideration of the reference process of both quantitative and prescriptive information. 展开更多

So it is not easy to realize the integrated environmental monitoring. Given this, we designed the Internet based environmental monitoring information system.
