In ...BACKGROUND Hydrocelectomy is the gold standard for the treatment of hydrocele, but it often causes complications after surgery, including hematoma, infection, persistent swelling, hydrocele recurrence, and chronic pain. In recent years, several methods for minimally invasive treatment of hydrocele have been introduced, but they all have limitations. Herein,we introduce a new method of individualized minimally invasive treatment for hydrocele.AIM To present a new method for the treatment of adult testicular hydrocele.METHODS Fifty-two adult patients with idiopathic testicular hydrocele were included. The key point of this procedure was that the scope of the resection of the sheath of the tunica vaginalis was determined according to the maximum diameter(d) of the effusion measured by ultrasound and the maximum diameter of the portion of the sheath pulled out of the scrotum was approximately πd/2. The surgical procedure consisted of a 2-cm incision in the anterior wall of the scrotum, drainage of the effusion, and dissection of part of the sheath of the tunica vaginalis. After the sheath was peeled away to the predetermined target extent, the pulled-out sheath was removed. The intraoperative findings and postoperative complications were analyzed.RESULTS All patients were successfully treated with a median operation time of 18 min.The median maximum diameter of the effusion on ultrasound was 3.5 cm,and the median maximum diameter of the resected sheath was 5.5 cm. Complications occurred in four(7.7%) patients: two(3.8%) cases of mild scrotal edema,one(1.9%) case of scrotal hematoma, and one(1.9%) case of wound infection. All of the complications were grade I-II. Recurrent hydrocele, chronic scrotal pain, and testicular atrophy were not observed during a median follow-up of 12 mo.CONCLUSION We report a new technique for individualized treatment of testicular hydrocele, which is quantitative and minimally invasive and yields good outcomes. Further study is warranted to verify its potential value in clinical practice.展开更多

Firs...In this paper, according to the defect of methods which have low identification rate in low SNR,a new individual identification method of radiation source based on information entropy feature and SVM is presented. Firstly, based on the theory of multi-resolution wavelet analysis, the wavelet power spectrum of noncooperative signal can be gotten. Secondly, according to the information entropy theory, the wavelet power spectrum entropy is defined in this paper. Therefore, the database of signal's wavelet power spectrum entropy can be built in different SNR and signal parameters. Finally, the sorting and identification model based on SVM is built for the individual identification of radiation source signal. The simulation result indicates that this method has a high individual's identification rate in low SNR,when the SNR is greater than 4 dB,the identification rate can reach 100%. Under unstable SNR conditions, when the range of SNR is between 0 dB and 24 dB,the average identification rate is more than 92. 67%. Therefore, this method has a great application value in the complex electromagnetic environment.展开更多

From a dialectical materialistic point of view the physical character of geographical environment of the earth surface is the unity in diversity. It is on such grounds that the two basic characteristics were put forth by the author in his monograph 'Physical Structure of South American Geographical Environment' as the underlying theme. This holds true for the hierarchy of physical regions. For instance, the physical environment of the earth surface in unity behaves as a huge whole, yet, in differentiation into continents, it displays disparity; each continent differs from others and becomes an integrity in its own right. The same is true of regions of lower levels. In the case of generality and individuality of regional types and their constituent distributive areas in different continents, the same relationship exists among them. Owing to similar origin展开更多

This paper proposes a kind of hardware-software-integrated mediators called social sensors (S2ensors) to facilitate the production interactions among customers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders in the social manufacturing systems (SMS). The concept, classification, operational logics, and for- malization of S2ensors are clarified. S2ensors collect sub- jective data from physical sensors and objective data from sensory input in mobile Apps, merge them into meaningful information for decision-making, and finally feed the decisions back for reaction and execution. Then, an S2en- sors-Cloud platform is discussed to integrate different S2- ensors to work for SMSs in an autonomous way. A demonstrative case is studied by developing a prototype system and the results show that S2ensors and S2ensors- Cloud platform can assist multi-role stakeholders interact and collaborate for the production tasks. It reveals the mediator-enabled mechanisms and methods for production interactions among stakeholders in SMS.展开更多

Such personality-specific task participation can increase individual task efficiency, thereby improving group performance. While several recent studies have documented group-levelbenefits of within-group behavioral (i.e., personality) diversity, how these benefits are realized atthe individual level is unclear. Here we probe the individual-level benefits of personality-driven taskparticipation in the social spider Stegodyphus dumicola. In S. dumicola, the presence of at leastone highly bold individual catalyzes foraging behavior in shy colony members, and all group con-stituents heavily compete for prey. We assessed boldness by examining how quickly spidersresumed normal movement after a simulated predator attack. We test here whether (1) participantsin collective foraging gain more mass from prey items and (2) whether bold individuals are less re-sistant to starvation than shy spiders, which would motivate the bold individuals to forage more.Next, we assembled colonies of shy spiders with and without a bold individual, added one preyitem, and then tracked the mass gain of each individual spider after this single feeding event. Wefound that spiders that participated in prey capture (whether bold or shy) gained more mass thannonparticipators, and colonies containing a single bold spider gained more total mass than purelyshy colonies. We also found that bold spiders participated in more collective foraging events andwere more susceptible to starvation than shy spiders, suggesting that the aggressive foraging ofbold individuals may represent a strategy to offset starvation risk. These findings add to the bodyof evidence that animal personality can shape social organization, individual performance, andgroup success.展开更多

文摘BACKGROUND Hydrocelectomy is the gold standard for the treatment of hydrocele, but it often causes complications after surgery, including hematoma, infection, persistent swelling, hydrocele recurrence, and chronic pain. Further study is warranted to verify its potential value in clinical practice.

文摘In this paper, according to the defect of methods which have low identification rate in low SNR,a new individual identification method of radiation source based on information entropy feature and SVM is presented. Under unstable SNR conditions, when the range of SNR is between 0 dB and 24 dB,the average identification rate is more than 92. 67%. Therefore, this method has a great application value in the complex electromagnetic environment.
文摘The Pearl River(Zhujiang)Delta(PRD)has been a focal point in reform era ac ademic circles not only for its dramatic industrial growth but a lso the simultaneous agricultural development.Unlike most of existing research on the PRDeconomic development and transformation fromthe whole region level, this paper explored this question f romthe perspec-tive of a township using Beijiao in Shunde City as a case study.Unlike the c onclusions of existing studies whic h attribute the regional economic transition to the macro factors, particularly the influence of external investment,t his research re-veals that at the level of township,t he local government, the town-villa ge owned enterprises and the individ uals have been playing remarkable roles in local economic transformation. In the early stage since the economic reform,Beijiao township government, replacing the central a nd provincial governments before,b egan to manipulate the development o f town-village owned enterprises and lead the local economic transformation from agricultural to industrial dominated. As the town-village owned enterprises grew during the later years, they gra dually acted as the main dominant pla yer leading the local agricultural and industrial growth. At the same time the individuals in Beijiao were playing more in dependent role to gain their most profits. While the local government changed to be t he real manager of local economies.S o the local economic transition was not entirely externally driven. In another word, the“driven from outsidemodel can not totally explain the economic fact in this specific region.
文摘Integrity and disparity are two of the basic characteristics implied in the scientific connotation of the physical environment as a material system. Owing to similar origin

文摘Currently, little work has been devoted to the mediators and tools for multi-role production interactions in the mass individualization environment. It reveals the mediator-enabled mechanisms and methods for production interactions among stakeholders in SMS.

文摘While many avian populations follow narrow,well-defined"migratory corridors,"individuals from other populations undertake highly divergent individual migration routes, using widely dispersed stopover sites en route between breeding and wintering areas, although the reasons for these differences are rarely investigated. We combined individual GPS-tracked migration data from Mongolian-breeding common shelduck Tadorna tadorna and remote sensing datasets,to in-vestigate habitat selection at inland stopover sites used by these birds during dispersed autumn migration,to explain their divergent migration patterns. We used generalized linear mixed models to investigate population-level resource selection, and generalized linear models to investigate stopover-sit-level resource selection. The population-level model showed that water recurrence had the strongest positive effect on determining birds'occupancy at staging sites, while cultivated land and grassland land cover type had strongest negative effects;effects of other land cover types were negative but weaker, particularly effects of wwater seasonality and presence of a human foot-print,which were positive but weak or non-significant,respectively.Although stopover-site-level models showed variable resource selection patterns, the variance partitioning and cross-prediction AUC scores corroborated high inter-individual consistency in habitat selection at inland stopover sites during the dispersed autumn migration. These results suggest that the geographically wide-spread distribution(and generally rarity)of suitable habitats explained the spatially divergent autumn migrations of Mongolian breeding common shelduck, rather than the species showing flexible autumn staging habitat occupancy.

文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the differences in the efficacy of stationary treatment and individualized treatment for patients with nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy(NPDR).METHODS:This study was a randomized, controlled, multicenter clinical trial.Participants with NPDR were randomized into the stationary treatment group or the individualized treatment group. The stationary treatment group was given the basic treatment and Qiming granules, and the individualized treatment group was given the basic treatment,Qiming granules, and individualized Chinese herbal medicines over a 12-week period. The individualized therapeutic formula was also changed over time to adjust to the changes in the clinical presentation of the patient. We conducted observations of fundus retinal exudation and hemorrhage, visual acuity,Traditional Chinese Medicine symptom scores and other indicators.RESULTS:A total of 140 participants with NPDR were randomized into the stationary treatment group or the individualized treatment group, and 132 participants completed this study.Following the 12-week treatment, significant improvements in both primary and secondary outcomes were observed in the stationary and individualized treatment groups. No remarkable difference in the primary outcomes between the two groups was observed. However, there was a significant difference in the Traditional Chinese Medicine symptom scores(18±7 vs 15±6;P<0.05).There were no severe adverse effects.CONCLUSION:Compared with stationary treatment, individualized treatment is more effective at relieving the Traditional Chinese Medicine symptoms and improving vision and fundus lesions at 12 weeks post treatment.
文摘In animal societies, behavioral idiosyncrasies of the individuals often guide which tasks theyshould perform. These findings add to the bodyof evidence that animal personality can shape social organization, individual performance, andgroup success.
