Deep Learning Mixed Hyper-Parameter Optimization Based on Improved Cuckoo Search Algorithm

Deep learning algorithm is an effective data mining method and has been used in many fields to solve practical problems.However,the deep learning algorithms often contain some hyper-parameters which may be continuous,integer,or mixed,and are often given based on experience but largely affect the effectiveness of activity recognition.In order to adapt to different hyper-parameter optimization problems,our improved Cuckoo Search(CS)algorithm is proposed to optimize the mixed hyper-parameters in deep learning algorithm.The algorithm optimizes the hyper-parameters in the deep learning model robustly,and intelligently selects the combination of integer type and continuous hyper-parameters that make the model optimal.Then,the mixed hyper-parameter in Convolutional Neural Network(CNN),Long-Short-Term Memory(LSTM)and CNN-LSTM are optimized based on the methodology on the smart home activity recognition datasets.Results show that the methodology can improve the performance of the deep learning model and whether we are experienced or not,we can get a better deep learning model using our method. 展开更多

With the rapid development of new energy technologies, lithium batteries are widely used in the field of energy storage systems and electric vehicles. The accurate prediction for the state of health(SOH) has an important role in maintaining a safe and stable operation of lithium-ion batteries. To address the problems of uncertain battery discharge conditions and low SOH estimation accuracy in practical applications, this paper proposes a SOH estimation method based on constant-current battery charging section characteristics with a back-propagation neural network with an improved atom search optimization algorithm. A temperature characteristic, equal-time temperature variation(Dt_DT), is proposed by analyzing the temperature data of the battery charging section with the incremental capacity(IC) characteristics obtained from an IC analysis as an input to the data-driven prediction model. Testing and analysis of the proposed prediction model are carried out using publicly available datasets. Experimental results show that the maximum error of SOH estimation results for the proposed method in this paper is below 1.5%. 展开更多

The recycling of glass bottles can reduce the consumption of resources and contribute to environmental protection.At present,the classification of recycled glass bottles is difficult due to the many differences in specifications and models.This paper proposes a classification algorithm for glass bottles that is divided into two stages,namely the extraction of candidate regions and the classification of classifiers.In the candidate region extraction stage,aiming at the problem of the large time overhead caused by the use of the SIFT(scale-invariant feature transform)descriptor in SS(selective search),an improved feature of HLSN(Haar-like based on SPP-Net)is proposed.An integral graph is introduced to accelerate the process of forming an HBSN vector,which overcomes the problem of repeated texture feature calculation in overlapping regions by SS.In the classification stage,the improved SS algorithm is used to extract target regions.The target regions are merged using a non-maximum suppression algorithm according to the classification scores of the respective regions,and the merged regions are classified using the trained classifier.Experiments demonstrate that,compared with the original SS,the improved SS algorithm increases the calculation speed by 13.8%,and its classification accuracy is 89.4%.Additionally,the classification algorithm for glass bottles has a certain resistance to noise. 展开更多

A hard problem that hinders the movement of waxy crude oil is wax deposition in oil pipelines.To ensure the safe operation of crude oil pipelines,an accurate model must be developed to predict the rate of wax deposition in crude oil pipelines.Aiming at the shortcomings of the ENN prediction model,which easily falls into the local minimum value and weak generalization ability in the implementation process,an optimized ENN prediction model based on the IRSA is proposed.The validity of the new model was confirmed by the accurate prediction of two sets of experimental data on wax deposition in crude oil pipelines.The two groups of crude oil wax deposition rate case prediction results showed that the average absolute percentage errors of IRSA-ENN prediction models is 0.5476% and 0.7831%,respectively.Additionally,it shows a higher prediction accuracy compared to the ENN prediction model.In fact,the new model established by using the IRSA to optimize ENN can optimize the initial weights and thresholds in the prediction process,which can overcome the shortcomings of the ENN prediction model,such as weak generalization ability and tendency to fall into the local minimum value,so that it has the advantages of strong implementation and high prediction accuracy. 展开更多

Along with the cost of weapons rising rapidly, it is indispensable to design a target assignment model that can ensure minimizing targets survivability and weapons consumption simultaneously. Afterwards an algorithm named as improved artificial fish swarm algorithm-improved harmony search algorithm(IAFSA-IHS) is proposed to solve the problem. Along with the increasing integration of renewable energy generation in AC-DC power networks,investigating the dynamic behaviors of this complex system with a proper equivalent model is significant.This paper presents an equivalent modeling method for the AC-DC power networks with doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG)based wind farms to decrease the simulation scale and computational burden.For the AC-DC power networks,the equivalent modeling strategy in accordance with the physical structure simplification is stated.Regarding the DFIG-based wind farms,the equivalent modeling based on the sequential identification of multi-machine parameters using the improved chaotic cuckoo search algorithm(ICCSA)is conducted.In light of the MATLAB simulation platform,a two-zone four-DC interconnected power grid with wind farms is built to check the efficacy of the proposed equivalentmodelingmethod.Fromthe simulation analyses and comparative validation in different algorithms and cases,the proposed method can precisely reflect the steady and dynamic performance of the demonstrated system under N-1 and N-2 fault scenarios,and it can efficiently achieve the parameter identification of the wind farms and fulfill the equivalent modeling.Consequently,the proposed approach’s effectiveness and suitability are confirmed. 展开更多

In cloud computing, efficient multi-objective task scheduling, aiming at minimizing makespan, energy consumption,and load variance,remains a critical challenge due to the non-deterministic polynomial( NP)-completeness of the problem and the limitations of traditional algorithms like premature convergence. In this paper,a multi-strategy improved sparrow search algorithm( MISSA) was proposed to address these issues. MISSA integrates specular reflection learning for initial population optimization,nonlinear adaptive decay weights to balance global exploration and local exploitation,and an innovative strategy based on T-distribution mutation to enhance population diversity. Experimental results on benchmark functions and real cloud task scheduling scenarios using CloudSim demonstrate that MISSA outperforms comparative algorithms such as sparrow search algorithm( SSA),boosted sparrow search algorithm( BSSA),and genetic algorithm-grey wolf optimizer( GA-GWO),achieving significant reductions in makespan,energy consumption,and load variance. MISSA provides an effective solution for intelligent resource allocation in heterogeneous cloud environments,showcasing robust performance in complex multi-objective optimization tasks. 展开更多

In the classification problem,deep kernel extreme learning machine(DKELM)has the characteristics of efficient processing and superior performance,but its parameters optimization is difficult.To improve the classification accuracy of DKELM,a DKELM algorithm optimized by the improved sparrow search algorithm(ISSA),named as ISSA-DKELM,is proposed in this paper.Aiming at the parameter selection problem of DKELM,the DKELM classifier is constructed by using the optimal parameters obtained by ISSA optimization.In order to make up for the shortcomings of the basic sparrow search algorithm(SSA),the chaotic transformation is first applied to initialize the sparrow position.Then,the position of the discoverer sparrow population is dynamically adjusted.A learning operator in the teaching-learning-based algorithm is fused to improve the position update operation of the joiners.Finally,the Gaussian mutation strategy is added in the later iteration of the algorithm to make the sparrow jump out of local optimum.The experimental results show that the proposed DKELM classifier is feasible and effective,and compared with other classification algorithms,the proposed DKELM algorithm aciheves better test accuracy. 展开更多

At first, nonsingular fast terminal slidingmode control is developed, which can guarantee not only the stability but also finite-timeconvergence of the closed-loop system. As the parameters of the designed controllers playa vital role for control performance, an improved beetle antennae search algorithm is proposedto optimise them. By employing the historical information of the beetle’s antennaeand dynamically updating the step size as well as the range of its searching, the optimisingis accelerated considerably to ensure the efficiency of the quadrotor control. The superiorityof the proposed control scheme is demonstrated by simulation experiments, from whichone can see that both the error and the overshooting of the trajectory tracking are reducedeffectively. 展开更多

In petroleum engineering,real-time lithology identification is very important for reservoir evaluation,drilling decisions and petroleum geological exploration.A lithology identification method while drilling based on machine learning and mud logging data is studied in this paper.This method can effectively utilize downhole parameters collected in real-time during drilling,to identify lithology in real-time and provide a reference for optimization of drilling parameters.Given the imbalance of lithology samples,the synthetic minority over-sampling technique(SMOTE)and Tomek link were used to balance the sample number of five lithologies.Meanwhile,this paper introduces Tent map,random opposition-based learning and dynamic perceived probability to the original crow search algorithm(CSA),and establishes an improved crow search algorithm(ICSA).In this paper,ICSA is used to optimize the hyperparameter combination of random forest(RF),extremely random trees(ET),extreme gradient boosting(XGB),and light gradient boosting machine(LGBM)models.In addition,this study combines the recognition advantages of the four models.The accuracy of lithology identification by the weighted average probability model reaches 0.877.The study of this paper realizes high-precision real-time lithology identification method,which can provide lithology reference for the drilling process. 展开更多

Different devices in the recent era generated a vast amount of digital video.Generally,it has been seen in recent years that people are forging the video to use it as proof of evidence in the court of justice.Many kinds of researches on forensic detection have been presented,and it provides less accuracy.This paper proposed a novel forgery detection technique in image frames of the videos using enhanced Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).In the initial stage,the input video is taken as of the dataset and then converts the videos into image frames.Next,perform pre-sampling using the Adaptive Rood Pattern Search(ARPS)algorithm intended for reducing the useless frames.In the next stage,perform preprocessing for enhancing the image frames.Then,face detection is done as of the image utilizing the Viola-Jones algorithm.Finally,the improved Crow Search Algorithm(ICSA)has been used to select the extorted features and inputted to the Enhanced Convolutional Neural Network(ECNN)classifier for detecting the forged image frames.The experimental outcome of the proposed system has achieved 97.21%accuracy compared to other existing methods. 展开更多

Pipeline isolation plugging robot (PIPR) is an important tool in pipeline maintenance operation. During the plugging process, the violent vibration will occur by the flow field, which can cause serious damage to the pipeline and PIPR. In this paper, we propose a dynamic regulating strategy to reduce the plugging-induced vibration by regulating the spoiler angle and plugging velocity. Firstly, the dynamic plugging simulation and experiment are performed to study the flow field changes during dynamic plugging. And the pressure difference is proposed to evaluate the degree of flow field vibration. Secondly, the mathematical models of pressure difference with plugging states and spoiler angles are established based on the extreme learning machine (ELM) optimized by improved sparrow search algorithm (ISSA). Finally, a modified Q-learning algorithm based on simulated annealing is applied to determine the optimal strategy for the spoiler angle and plugging velocity in real time. The results show that the proposed method can reduce the plugging-induced vibration by 19.9% and 32.7% on average, compared with single-regulating methods. This study can effectively ensure the stability of the plugging process. 展开更多

Accurate prediction of drilling efficiency is critical for developing the earth-rock excavation schedule.The single machine learning(ML)prediction models usually suffer from problems including parameter sensitivity and overfitting.In addition,the influence of environmental and operational factors is often ignored.In response,a novel stacking-based ensemble learning method taking into account the combined effects of those factors is proposed.Through multiple comparison tests,four models,e Xtreme gradient boosting(XGBoost),random forest(RF),back propagation neural network(BPNN)as the base learners,and support vector regression(SVR)as the meta-learner,are selected for stacking.Furthermore,an improved cuckoo search optimization(ICSO)algorithm is developed for hyper-parameter optimization of the ensemble model.The application to a real-world project demonstrates that the proposed method outperforms the popular single ML method XGBoost and the ensemble model optimized by particle swarm optimization(PSO),with 16.43%and 4.88%improvements of mean absolute percentage error(MAPE),respectively. 展开更多

This paper delves into the parameter tuning of fractional-order PID(FOPID)controllers.FOPID controllers,with additional integral and derivative orders compared to traditional PID controllers,possess enhanced capabilities in handling complex systems.However,effective tuning of its five parameters is challenging.To address this,multiple intelligent algorithms are investigated.The improved sparrow search algorithm(ISSA)utilizes Chebyshev chaotic mapping initialization,adaptive t-distribution,and the firefly algorithm to overcome the limitations of the basic algorithm,showing high accuracy,speed,and robustness in multi-modal problems.The grey wolf optimizer(GWO),inspired by the hunting behavior of grey wolves,has procedures for encircling,hunting,and attacking but may encounter local optima,and several improvement methods have been proposed.The genetic algorithm,based on the survival of the fittest principle,involves encoding,decoding,and other operations.Taking vehicle ABS control as an example,the genetic algorithm-based FOPID controller outperforms the traditional PID controller.In conclusion,different algorithms have their own advantages in FOPID parameter tuning,and the selection depends on system characteristics and control requirements.Future research can focus on further algorithm improvement and hybrid methods to achieve better control performance,providing a valuable reference for FOPID applications in industry. 展开更多

Aiming at issues of life loss(LL)and overall energy efficiency(OEE)for battery energy storage system(BESS)in smoothing wind power fluctuations,a dynamic grouping control strategy of BESS for remaining useful life(RUL)extension and OEE improvement is proposed.First,grid-connected power signals are obtained.Second,a model to optimize capacity allocation for three battery groups(BGs)in BESS is established considering LL and OEE,and it is solved by the designed improved beetle swarm antennae search algorithm.Then,a dynamic grouping method is proposed to dynamically adjust the grouping state of battery units(BUs)during operation to keep good sustainable dispatchability.Then,a double-layer power allocation approach coordinated with multi-principle is designed to reduce LL and improve OEE,and also keeps consistency of state of charge for BUs simultaneously.The upper layer achieves power allocation from BESS into the three BGs and power allocation method for each BG is determined.The lower layer,considering PCS efficiency under different working conditions,finishes power allocation from each BG into BUs inside it.Subsequently,an RUL evaluation model based on the swing door trend algorithm is built to shorten required calculation time.Finally,the proposed control strategy is simulated and results compared with other strategies demonstrate the proposed strategy acquires the longest RUL and highest OEE with smoothing wind power fluctuations effectively,which verifies its correctness and validity. 展开更多

Purpose-Breast cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in women,which badly have an effect on women’s physical and psychological health and even danger to life.Nowadays,mammography is considered as a fundamental criterion for medical practitioners to recognize breast cancer.Though,due to the intricate formation of mammogram images,it is reasonably hard for practitioners to spot breast cancer features.Design/methodology/approach-Breast cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in women,which badly have an effect on women’s physical and psychological health and even danger to life.Nowadays,mammography is considered as a fundamental criterion for medical practitioners to recognize breast cancer.Though,due to the intricate formation of mammogram images,it is reasonably hard for practitioners to spot breast cancer features.Findings-The performance analysis was done for both segmentation and classification.From the analysis,the accuracy of the proposed IAP-CSA-based fuzzy was 41.9%improved than the fuzzy classifier,2.80%improved than PSO,WOA,and CSA,and 2.32%improved than GWO-based fuzzy classifiers.Additionally,the accuracy of the developed IAP-CSA-fuzzy was 9.54%better than NN,35.8%better than SVM,and 41.9%better than the existing fuzzy classifier.Hence,it is concluded that the implemented breast cancer detection model was efficient in determining the normal,benign and malignant images.Originality/value-This paper adopts the latest Improved Awareness Probability-based Crow Search Algorithm(IAP-CSA)-based Region growing and fuzzy classifier for enhancing the breast cancer detection of mammogram images,and this is the first work that utilizes this method. 展开更多

Prediction of dike seepage pressure based on ISSABiLSTM

The existing traditional dam seepage pressure prediction models have problems such as falling into local optimum.The sparrow search algorithm(SSA)was improved as ISSA using both methods of nonlinear Sine Cosine optimization algorithm and adaptive producer and scrounger ratio.We combined the Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory(BiLSTM)neural network model with ISSA to develop the ISSA-BiLSTM seepage pressure prediction model.The critical feature factors were extracted based on LightGBM to construct the input layer for seepage pressure prediction.The results show that the ISSA-BiLSTM model's fitting outcomes are generally consistent with the observed changes in seepage pressure observations,achieving an R^(2) of 0.987.In comparison to SSABiLSTM and BiLSTM,the model exhibits a substantial reduction in errors,decreasing by approximately 20%and 30%,respectively.This model can provide technical support and insights for accurately predicting dam seepage,contributing to the advancement of this field. 展开更多

Battery life prediction is of great significance to the safe operation,and reduces the maintenance costs.This paper proposes a hybrid framework considering feature extraction to achieve more accurate and stable life prediction performance of the battery.By feature extraction,eight features are obtained to fed into the life prediction model.The hybrid framework combines variational mode decomposition,the multi-kernel support vector regression model and the improved sparrow search algorithm to solve the problem of data backward,uneven distribution of high-dimensional feature space and the local escape ability,respectively.Better parameters of the estimation model are obtained by introducing the elite chaotic opposition-learning strategy and adaptive weights to optimize the sparrow search algorithm.The algorithm can improve the local escape ability and convergence performance and find the global optimum.The comparison is conducted by dataset from National Aeronautics and Space Administration which shows that the proposed framework has a more accurate and stable prediction performance.Compared with other algorithms,the SOH estimation accuracy of the proposed algorithm is improved by 0.16%–1.67%.With the advance of the start point,the RUL prediction accuracy of the proposed algorithm does not change much. 展开更多
