Hot Deformation Behavior and Processing Map of a Novel Ti750s High-Temperature Titanium Alloy

Ti750s titanium alloy,a novel high-temperature titanium alloy designed for short-term service at elevated temperatures(700–750℃),has previously lacked comprehensive understanding of its hot processing behavior.In this study,the high-temperature deformation behavior and microstructural evolution of the Ti750s alloy were systematically investigated through thermal simulation compression tests conducted at temperatures ranging from 900 to 1070℃and strain rates between 0.1 and 10 s⁻1.A hot processing map was constructed using the dynamic material model to optimize the hot processing parameters.The results indicated that the optimal processing window was between 1040 and 1070℃with a strain rate of 0.1 s⁻1.Processing within the instability region resulted in localized plastic deformation,manifesting as pronounced shear bands and a highly heterogeneous strain distribution;this region should be avoided during hot deformation.Within theα+βphase safety zone characterized by low power dissipation rates between 0.32 and 0.4,the primary deformation mechanism in this region was dynamic recovery(DRV),where the lamellarαgrains underwent deformation and rotation.Conversely,in theα+βphase safety zone with high-power dissipation rates between 0.45 and 0.52,dynamic spheroidization of theαphase and dynamic recrystallization(DRX)of theβphase occurred concurrently.In theβphase safety zone with low power dissipation rates between 0.32 and 0.51,the primary deformation mechanism consisted of DRV ofβgrains,accompanied by limited DRX.However,in theβphase safety zone with high-power dissipation rates exceeding 0.56,both DRV and DRX ofβgrains took place,resulted in a significant increase in the size and number of recrystallized grains compared to those observed under low power dissipation conditions. 展开更多

Fully dense aluminum nitride(AIN) ceramics were synthesized by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis(SHS) method using AIN powder as raw material with Y2O3additive. The sintering behavior was studied at different sintering temperatures and additive contents. The change of phase compositions, secondary phase distributions and grain morphologies during sintering process were investigated. It is shown that fully dense ceramics using AIN powder prepared by SHS method can be obtained when the sintering temperature is above 1830 ℃. Both Y2O3content and sintering temperature have an important influence on the formation of Y-Al-O phase and grain shape. When Y2O3content is identified, the grain morphology converts from polyhedron into sphere-like shape with the rise of sintering temperature. At a certain sintering temperature,the grain size decreases with the increase in Y2O3content. The influencing mechanisms of different YAl-O secondary phases and sintering temperatures on the grain size and morphology were also discussed based on the experimental results. 展开更多

Ti_(2)AlC/TiAl composites with a network structure were successfully prepared with carbon nanotubes and Ti-45Al-8Nb pre-alloyed powder using spark plasma sintering.The effects of sintering temperature(1200-1350℃)on the microstructural evolution and mechanical properties were systematically investigated.The microstructure of Ti_(2)AlC/TiAl composites exhibits duplex,near-lamellar,and fully lamellar structures,as the sintering temperature increases from 1200 to 1350℃.The network structured Ti_(2)AlC phase can refine the microstructure and the phase becomes discontinuous at high sintering temperatures.Notably,composites sintered at 1300℃ exhibit excellent mechanical properties,with the highest compressive strength(1921 MPa)and fracture strain(26%)at room temperature.Moreover,the ultimate tensile strength and fracture strain reach 537 MPa and 3.1%at 900℃,and 485 MPa and 3.3%at 950℃,respectively.The enhancement of the mechanical properties is attributed primarily to the load bearing,particle pull-out,and inhibition of crack propagation induced by Ti_(2)AlC particles. 展开更多

The high-temperature characteristics of iron ores play important roles in optimizing ore proportion of sintering,which are tested by using iron-ore fines and analytical reagent CaO as raw materials.Two calculation methods of CaO addition amount based on binary basicity(basicity method)and n(Fe2O3)/n(CaO)(mole ratio method),respectively,were employed to evaluate the liquid phase fluidity(LPF)and the capability of calcium ferrite formation(CCFF)of iron ores.The results show that the rule of LPF of iron ores under the mole ratio method is different from that with basicity method.The LPF measured by basicity method has a linear positive correlation with the SiO2 content,and there is no linear relationship between LPF and Al2O3 content or mass loss on ignition,which are inconsistent with the results of the previous study.And the results of CCFF with low SiO2 content(<3 wt.%)or high SiO2 content(>7 wt.%)based on basicity method cannot reflect the true CCFF.The mole ratio method could successfully solve this problem by reducing the effect of CaO addition amount changes caused by SiO2 content of iron ores. 展开更多

ZrB2 ceramics were prepared by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis(SHS) and were sintered by hot pressing(HP).The effects of the granularities and doses of raw materials in Zr-B2O3-Mgon SHS process and product were investigated.XRD and combustion temperature curves prove that the ideal SHS reactants of Zr-B2O3-Mg are 50μm Zr powder,75μm B2O3 powder and 400μm Mg powder with 45% excessive.The particle sizes of SHS product,acid-leached product,sintered product are 2-5μm,0.5-2μm,2-10μm respectively.Chemical analysis indicates that the acid-leached product consists of ZrB2(94.59%),ZrO2(3.87%),and H3BO3(1.54%),The sintered product has a relative density of 95.4%. 展开更多

Layered cathode materials of high-temperature lithium batteries, Li Ni1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2 are synthesized by a sol-gel method with variation in final sintering temperature for borehole applications. The structure, morphology and high-temperature discharge performance of these resulting products are investigated by X-Ray Diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), laser particle size analysis, galvanostatic and pulse discharge. The results of structural analysis indicate that the sample sintered at 800 ℃ has the characteristics of good crystallinity, narrow size distribution and large specific surface area at the same time. The discharge experiments also indicate that this sample has the best electrochemical properties, with the maximum discharge capacities of 314.57 and 434.14 m Ah·g-1 at 200 and 300 ℃ respectively and the minimum cell internal resistances at both temperatures. 展开更多

The design and synthesis of organic high-temperature reversible thermochromic materials is one of the difficult issues in the field of organic chromic materials.In this paper,four diacetylene monomers named DBA-PCDA,TBA-PCDA,DBE-PCDA and TBE-PCDA,each containing multiple diacetylene units,were synthesized from 10,12-pentacosadiynoic acid(PCDA)through the amidation or esterification reactions,using 4,4'-diaminobiphenyl,1,3,5-tris(4-aminophenyl)benzene,4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl,and 1,3,5-tris(4-hydroxyphenyl)benzene as bridging units.The effects of functional groups that can form hydrogen bond andπ-πinteractions on the solid-state polymerization properties of monomers and the thermochromic properties of the corresponding PDAs were investigated.The results show that only DBA-PCDA and TBAPCDA,which contain functional groups that can form hydrogen bonding interactions,can be polymerized under 254-nm UV irradiation.The corresponding poly(DBA-PCDA)exhibits reversible thermochromic property even heated up to 200℃,showing a potential application in the field of high-temperature thermal indicator above 100℃.This work provides a new perspective to the development of PDA with high-temperature reversible thermochromic property. 展开更多

High-nitrogen nickel-free stainless steels were fabricated by the metal injection molding technique using high nitrogen alloying powders and a mixture of three polymers as binders.Mixtures of metal powders and binders with various proportions were also investigated, and an optimum powder loading capacity was determined as 64vol%.Intact injection molded compacts were successfully obtained by regulating the processing parameters.The debinding process for molded compacts was optimized with a combination of thermo-gravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry analysis.An optimum relative density and nitrogen content of the specimens are obtained at 1360℃,which are 97.8%and 0.79wt%,respectively. 展开更多

The sintering behavior,microstructure and microwave dielectric properties of (1–x)CaTiO3–xLaAlO3 (x=0.1,0.3,0.5,0.7,0.9,respectively) ceramics were investigated systematically by thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis (TG-DSC),X-ray diffraction (XRD),scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and a network analyzer.The result showed that forming temperature of the perovskite type crystal increased with increasing of x value.0.9CaTiO3-0.1LaAlO3 ceramics were sintered well from 1 400 to 1 550 oC,its bulk density increased with sintering temperature,and microwave dielectric properties of the ceramics at 1 400 oC was shown as follows: relative dielectric constant εr= 45.1,Q×f= 46 087 GHz and τf=–14.1×10–6/oC,respectively.But 0.7CaTiO3-0.3LaAlO3 ceramics were sintered well only when sintering temperature rose to 1 500 oC.(1–x)CaTiO3–xLaAlO3 (x=0.5,0.7 and 0.9,respectively) were not sintered well up to 1 550 oC and the sintered samples exhibited porous characteristic and with low bulk density. 展开更多

The effect of sintering temperature on microstructure, electrical properties, and pulse aging behavior of (V2O5-Mn3O4-Er2O3)-doped zinc oxide varistor ceramics was systematically studied. When the sintering temperature increased, the average grain size increased from 6.1 to 8.7μm and the sintered density decreased from 5.52 to 5.43 g/cm3. The breakdown field decreased from 3856 to 922 V/cm with an increase in the sintering temperature up to 900 °C, whereas a further increase to 2352 V/cm at 925 °C. The nonlinear coefficient increased pronouncedly from 4.6 to 30.0 with an increase in the sintering temperature. The varistor ceramics sintered at 850 °C exhibited the best clamping characteristics, with the clamp voltage ratio of the range of 2.22-2.88 for pulse current of 1-25 A. The varistor ceramics sintered at 925 °C exhibited the strongest stability, with %ΔE1 mA/cm2=-8.8% after applying the multi-pulse current of 25 A. 展开更多

The influence of the MnS plastic inclusion on the accumulation of internal damage was considered, and the Gurson– Tvergaard–Needleman (GTN) model was calibrated based on the finite element inverse method and image analysis method using ABAQUS and GTN models. The modified GTN damage model was used to simulate the initiation and propagation of cracks in an as-cast 304 stainless steel with MnS inclusions at 900 C. The simulation results agreed well with the experimental results, indicating that the model can be effectively applied to examine the high-temperature fracture behavior of MnS inclusions. The simulation and high-temperature tensile test results revealed that MnS inclusions increased the number of holes initiation and the probability of hole polymerization, reduced the crack propagation resistance, accelerated the occurrence of material fracture behavior, and were closely related to the stress state at high temperatures. When the stress triaxiality was low, the plastic strain in the metal matrix was high, and the MnS plastic inclusions accelerated the polymerization of the pores, making metal fracture failure more likely. On the other hand, when the stress triaxiality was high, the stress state in the metal matrix was biased to the tensile state, the plastic strain in the metal matrix was low, and the influence of MnS plastic inclusions on the fracture behavior was not evident. 展开更多

Aiming to develop materials for construction of the set-up and electrode of high-temperature molten salt reactors, the effect of Al and Y on the high-temperature oxidation behavior of Ni-11Fe-10Cu at 750 and 950 °C in air were investigated. The oxidation kinetics of Ni-11Fe-10Cu alloy followed parabolic law at 750 °C without spallation and linear law at 950 °C with severe spallation, while that of Ni-11Fe-10Cu-6Al-3Y alloy followed parabolic law at 750 and 950 °C without spallation. The parabolic rate constant (kp) of Ni-11Fe-10Cu was smaller than that of Ni-11Fe-10Cu-6Al-3Y at 750 °C. The oxide scale formed on Ni-11Fe-10Cu at 750 °C was composed of a CuO outer layer, a NiFe2O4 middle layer and a NiO inner layer. The oxide scale formed on Ni-11Fe-10Cu-6Al-3Y at 750 °C was also composed of the similar triplex layers in addition to an internal oxidation zone containing Al, Ni and Cu oxide and the microstructure of the scale changed with increasing temperature. Although the doping Al and Y could improve the adherence of oxide scale, it could aggravate the extent of internal oxidation. Based on the combination of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron mi-croscopy/energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDX) analysis, the microstructure and growth mechanism of the multi-layer oxide scale was studied and the effect of doping Al and Y on the oxidation behavior of Ni-11Fe-10Cu alloy was also discussed. 展开更多

SiC/Si_3N_4 composite was pressureless sintered using self-propagating high-temperature combustion synthesis a-Si_3N_4 powder and appropriate amount of b-SiC powder. Both of the sintering additive systems were used,which were YAN(Y_2O_3–Al_2O_3–AlN) and YN(Y_2O_3–AlN).The influences of b-SiC content on sintering behavior of SiC/Si_3N_4 composite were investigated. The results show that the density, shrinkage, bending strength, hardness, and fracture toughness of the samples with two sintering additive systems increase first with the increase of the contents of b-SiC and then decrease even when b-SiC contents continually increase. The tendency of weight loss of the samples is opposite. The b-SiC content of the samples with the best mechanical properties is different in two systems. For YAN system, the best mechanical properties of the samples are gained when b-SiC content reaches 10 %, while as for YN system it is 5 %. The properties of YN samples are superior to YAN samples. J phase(2Y_2O_3 ·Si_2N_2O) forms in YN system easily. A small amount of M phase(Y_2O_3·Si_3N_4) is observed in YAN system. 展开更多

Ultra-coarse grained cemented carbides are often used under conditions of concurrently applied stress and high temperature.Improvement of high-temperature mechanical performance of ultra-coarse grained cemented carbides is highly desirable but still a big challenge.In this study,it is proposed that the hightemperature compression strength of ultra-coarse cemented carbides can be enhanced by modulating hard matrix grains by activated Ta C nanoparticles,through solid solution strengthening of Ta atoms.Based on the designed experiments and microstructural characterizations combined with finite element simulations,the grain morphology,stress distribution and dislocation configuration were studied in detail for ultra-coarse grained cemented carbides.The mechanisms of Ta dissolving in WC crystal and strengthening ultra-coarse grains through interaction with dislocations were disclosed from the atomic scale.This study opens a new perspective to modulate hard phases of cemented carbides for improving their hightemperature performance,which will be applicable to a variety of cermet and ceramic-based composite materials. 展开更多

Centimeter-sized Mg_(65)Zn_(30)Ca_(5)bulk amorphous alloys were fabricated by the spark plasma sintering process from the amorphous powders with a size smaller than 5 la m prepared by ball-milling.The sintered Mg65Zn30Ca5 samples were in an amorphous state when the spark plasma sintering was performed at a temperature of 383 K under a pressure of 600 MPa.The data of polarization curves presented that the sintered Mg_(65)Zn_(30)Ca_(5)bulk amorphous alloys exhibited higher corrosion resistance than pure Mg and AZ31B alloy owing to high content of Zn and homogeneous structure.A calcium phosphate compound layer was formed on the sintered Mg_(65)Zn_(30)Ca_(5)bulk amorphous sample after immersion in Hanks'solution,which is effective in improving corrosion resistance and bioactivity.The sintered MgZnCa bulk amorphous alloys with large dimensions broaden the potential application of bulk amorphous alloys in the biomedical fields. 展开更多

A novel low temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) material was fabricated by zinc titanate(ZnTiO_3) ceramics doped with B_2O_3-BaO-SiO_2-ZnO-Li_2O(BBSZL) glass. The influences of BBSZL glass on wetting behavior, sintering activation energy, phase composition, microstructure and microwave dielectric properties were investigated. The experimental results show that the sintering temperature of ZnTiO3 ceramics can be reduced from 1 100 to 925 ℃, meanwhile the sintering activation energy is decreased from 465.32 to 390.54 kJ·mol^(-1) by BBSZL glass aid, respectively. Moreover, BBSZL glass can inhibit the high Q×f ZnTiO_3 phase decompose into the low Q×f value Zn_2TiO_4 phase, which is propitious to obtain high Q×f value LTCC material. The ZnTiO_3-BBSZL composite sintered at 925℃ displays the excellent microwave dielectric properties with ε_r of 21.8, Q×f value of 42000 GHz, and τ_f of-75 ppm·℃^(-1). 展开更多

Strengthening granulation behavior of specularite concentrates based on matching of characteristics of iron ores in sintering process 被引量:1

Specularite concentrates have advantages of high ferrous grade, less harmful impurities and low price. However, the small size and poor granulation behavior of specularite concentrates consequently deteriorate the permeability of sinter bed and reduce the productivity of sinter, resulting in un-effective utilization in sintering process. The granulation experiments were carried out when specularite concentrates matched with five kinds of fine or coarse ores, and the effects of surface property and wettability of fine or coarse ores on granulation behavior of specularite concentrates were investigated. Then, the optimized ore blending recipes were proposed to strengthen the granulation behavior of specularite concentrates. The results indicated that the growth index increased with increasing the specific surface area of fine ores and had a positive linear correlation with the circularity degree of coarse ores, whereas negative correlations exist between the growth index and the contact angle of fine or coarse ores. Compared with the concentrates, the growth index increased by approximately 22% scheme of blended ores containing 15 mass% specularite in the case of using Ore-A and Ore-E with greater surface property and higher wettability to replace all of Ore-B and half of Ore-D, respectively. Furthermore, the vertical sintering speed and the productivity of sinter improved by approximately 23% and 20%, respectively. 展开更多
