Our experiments at conditions below the dry peridotite solidus produced melt compositions that ranged from basaltic andesite to tholeiite. An Opx reaction band formed between eclogite and peridotite layers, likely via chemical reaction between a silica-rich eclogite-derived partial melt and olivine in the peridotite matrix. At temperatures at or above the dry peridotite solidus, substantial melting occurred in both basalt and peridotite layers, and fully molten basalt melt and melt pockets from the peridotite layer combined. In our layered experiments, major and minor element contents in reacted melts closely matched those of Hawaiian tholeiite and picrite, except for Fe. Partial melts of anhydrous run products had ~55 - 57 wt% SiO2 at low temperature (i.e., were andesitic) and had ~50 - 53 wt% SiO2 at high temperatures, slightly below the dry peridotite solidus (i.e., were tholeiitic, and similar to those that occur during the Hawaii shield-building stage). Based on the Fe- and LREE-enriched signature in Hawaiian tholeiites, we propose that recycled components in the Hawaiian plume are not modern N-MORB, but are Fe-rich tholeiite;a lithology that was common in the Archaean and early Proterozoic. We have demonstrated that the entire compositional spectrum of Hawaiian tholeiites (basalt to picrite) can be formed by basalt-peridotite reactive melting near the dry solidus of peridotite. Based on these results, we propose that the potential temperature of the sub-Hawaiian plume may be much lower than previously estimated.展开更多

In this paper, the design of experiments (DOE) theory was used to determine the optimal experimental design plan matrix based on the D optimality criterion. In the high-pressure sulfuric acid leaching (HPSAL) process for nickel laterite in "Rudjinci" ore in Serbia, the temperature, the sulfuric acid to ore ratio, the stirring speed, and the leaching time as the predictor variables, and the degree of nickel extraction as the response have been considered. To model the process, the multiple linear regression (MLR) and response surface method (RSM), together with the two-level and four-factor full factorial central composite design (CCD) plan, were used. The proposed re- gression models have not been proven adequate. Therefore, the artificial neural network (ANN) approach with the same experimental plan was used in order to reduce operational costs, give a better modeling accuracy, and provide a more successful process optimization. The model is based on the multi-layer neural networks with the back-propagation (BP) learning algorithm and the bipolar sigmoid activation function.展开更多

Furthermore, we tested a number of numerical models using the FLAC;modeling software to find the best model to represent the experimental results. The high-speed multichannel acoustic emission(AE) waveform recording system used in this study made it possible to examine the total fracture process through detailed monitoring of AE hypocenters and seismic velocity. The experimental results show that injecting high-pressure oil into the rock sample can induce AE activity at very low stress levels and can dramatically reduce the strength of the rock. The results of the numerical simulations show that major experimental results, including the strength, the temporal and spatial patterns of the AE events, and the role of the fluid can be represented fairly well by a model involving(1) randomly distributed defect elements to model pre-existing cracks,(2) random modification of rock properties to represent inhomogeneity introduced by different mineral grains, and(3)macroscopic inhomogeneity. Our study, which incorporates laboratory experiments and numerical simulations, indicates that such an approach is helpful in finding a better model not only for simulating experimental results but also for upscaling purposes.展开更多

In order to investigate the rock breaking performance of high-pressure water-jet-assisted TBM, in situ excavation tests were carried out at the Wan’anxi Water Diversion Project in Longyan, Fujian Province, China, under different water jet pressure and rotational speed. The rock-breaking performance of TBM was analyzed including penetration, cutterhead load, advance rate and field penetration index. The test results show that the adoption of high-pressure water-jet-assisted rock breaking technology can improve the boreability of rock mass, where the TBM penetration increases by 64% under the water jet pressure of 270 MPa. In addition, with the increase of the water jet pressure, the TBM penetration increases and the field penetration index decreases. The auxiliary rock-breaking effect of high-pressure water jet decreases with the increase of cutterhead rotational speed. In the case of the in situ tunneling test parameters of this study, the advance rate is the maximum when the pressure of the high-pressure water jet is 270 MPa and the cutterhead rotational speed is 6 r/min. The technical superiority of high-pressure water-jet-assisted rock breaking technology is highlighted and it provides guidance for the excavation parameter selection of high-pressure hydraulically coupled rock-breaking TBM.展开更多

We present theoretical and experimental investigations into the flexural vibration transfer properties of a high-pressure periodic pipe with the force on the inner pipe wall by oii pressure taken into consideration. The results show that the vibration attenuation of periodic pipe decreases along with the elevation of working pressure for the hydraulic system, and the band gaps in low frequency ranges move towards high frequency ranges. The periodic pipe has good vibration attenuation performance in the frequency range below 1000 Hz and the vibration of the hydraulic system is effectively suppressed. A11 the results are validated by experiment. The experimental results show a good agreement with the numerical calculations, thus the flexural vibration transfer properties of the high- pressure periodic pipe can be precisely calculated by taking the fluid structure interaction between the pipe and oil into consideration. This study provides an effective way for the vibration control of the hydraulic system.展开更多

The stress distributions of the DLSDs with different numbers of divided blocks were investigated by the finite element method and compared with the stress distributions of the conventional belt-type die(BTD). The results show that the cylinders and first-layer supporting rings of the DLSDs have dramatically smaller stresses than those of the BTD. In addition, increasing the number of divided blocks from 4 to 10 gradually increases the stress of the cylinder but has minimal influence on the stress of the supporting rings. The pressure-bearing capacities of the DLSDs with different numbers of divided blocks, especially with fewer blocks, are all remarkably higher than the pressure-bearing capacity of the BTD. The contrast experiments were also carried out to verify the simulated results. It is concluded that the pressure-bearing capacities of the DLSDs with 4 and 8 divided blocks are 1.58 and 1.45 times greater than that of the BTD. This work is rewarding for the commercial synthesis of high-quality, large-sized superhard materials using a double-layered split high-pressure die.展开更多

To protect the magnetic field sensors from intense erosion and high pressure, suitable high-pressure sealed cabins must be designed to load them. For the consideration of magnetic measurement and marine operation, the sealed pressure cabin should be nonmagnetic and transportable. Among all optional materials, LC4 super.hard aluminum alloy has the highest performance of price/quality ratio to make the sealed pressure cabin. However, it does not mean that the high-pressure sealed cabin made using LC4 will be perfect in performance. In fact, because of its weak magnetism, the pressure cabin made using LC4 has distorting effect on frequency responses of the magnetic field sensors sealed in it. This distorting effect does not affect the use of the magnetic field sensor, but if we want to eliminate its effect, we should study it by experimental measurements. In our experiment tests, frequency sweep magnetic field as excitation signal was used, and then responses of the magnetic field sensor before and after being loaded into the high-pressure sealed cabin were measured. Finally, normalized abnormal curves for the frequency responses were obtained, through which we could show how the high-pressure sealed cabin produces effects on the responses of the magnetic field sensor. Experimental results suggest that the response distortion induced by the sealed pressure cabin appears on mid- and high-frequency areas. Using experimental results as standardization data, the frequency responses collected from seafloor magnetotelluric measurements can be corrected to restore real information about the seafloor field source.展开更多

文摘Debate has persisted over whether the metamorphic basement of the Zhoushan Islands, easternmost Cathaysia Block,is Precambrian. Here, representative metamorphic rocks from the Qushan Islands were investigated using petrography, mineral chemistry, phase equilibria modeling and SHRIMP zircon U-Pb dating to constrain their metamorphic evolution and tectonic significance. Both the pelitic granulites(garnet-kyanite-perthite-biotite-quartz)and the mafic granulites(garnet-clinopyroxene-amphibole-plagioclase-quartz)reached high-pressure granulite-facies conditions of 1.2-1.4 GPa/820-900℃,and recorded three metamorphic stages along a clockwise P-T path with post-peak isothermal decompression. This trajectory indicated rapid exhumation of thickened continental crust during collisional orogeny.Metamorphic ages of 254±3 Ma,262±4 Ma and 259±3 Ma were obtained for mafic granulite, pelitic granulite and marble, respectively, and were consistent with the emplacement age of 259±4 Ma for a pegmatite vein.Detrital zircons in metasediments spanned 2706-330 Ma,which constrained the latest deposition to~330 Ma;thus represented mid-Paleozoic sediment metamorphosed during the late Paleozoic rather than Precambrian basement. We conclude that the Indosinian tectonothermal event in the Cathaysia Block had originated from late Paleozoic-early Mesozoic collisional orogeny between the South China Plate to the north and the Indochina Block to the south.

文摘Transitioning from outcrossing to self-fertilization is a widespread reproductive strategy in plants, especially in environments where pollination is limited.Despite its prevalence, this transition has rarely been examined using transplant experiments, and previous studies have overlooked the contribution of the male parent in elucidating mating diversity. In this study, six transplanted populations were generated to investigate the relationship of the pollination environment with plant mating patterns and fecundity in Primula oreodoxa,a species that exhibits both distyly(predominantly outcrossing)and homostyly(predominantly selfing),based on data from 3582 individuals and 11 SSR markers.Homostylous plants had fruit and seed sets comparable to those of distylous plants at lower elevations but exhibited a clear reproductive advantage at higher elevations, particularly compared with the S morph. As elevation increased, the populational selfing rates increased, and the genetic diversity among the progeny was reduced.Furthermore, the visitation frequency of long-tongued pollinators was negatively and positively correlated with the selfing rate and number of mates, respectively,in the L and S morphs. In contrast,short-tongued pollinator visitation showed opposite correlations with the selfing rate and number of mates in homostylous morphs. In most populations, individuals functioned consistently as both female and male, and mating occurred randomly, suggesting a breakdown of the distyly polymorphism.Overall, our results provide experimental validation of the reproductive advantages of homostyly at high elevations by revealing that pollinator visitation shapes the selfing rate and mating diversity within populations, potentially driving the divergence of mating systems along environmental gradients.

文摘The Zeeman effect,a fundamental quantum phenomenon, demonstrates the interaction between magnetic fields and atomic systems. While precise spectroscopic measurements of this effect have advanced significantly, there remains a lack of simple, visually accessible demonstration for educational purposes. Here,we present a low-cost experiment that allows for direct visual observation of the Zeeman effect. Our setup involves a flame containing sodium(from table salt)placed in front of a sodium vapor lamp. When a magnetic field is applied to the flame, the shadow cast by the flame noticeably lightens, providing a clear,naked-eye demonstration of the Zeeman effect.Furthermore,we conduct two quantitative experiments using this setup, examining the effects of varying magnetic field strength and sodium concentration. This innovative approach not only enriches the experimental demonstration for teaching atomic physics at undergraduate and high school levels but also provides an open platform for students to explore the Zeeman effect through hands-on experience.

文摘To improve the accuracy of rockburst risk evaluation in mining and tunnelling engineering, the influence of intermediate principal stress σ_(2) deserves further consideration, which has been neglected in general prediction frameworks. This study employs an integrated approach that combines true-triaxial unloading experiments with three-dimensional grain-based discrete element modeling(PFC3D-GBM)to examine the effects of σ_(2) on strain systematically burst and elucidate the underlying mechanisms.Through this dual experimental–numerical methodology, the strainburst characteristics under varying σ_(2) are analyzed in detail regarding mechanical responses, failure evolution and patterns, microscope fracture mechanisms, and energy partitioning. The results indicate that elevated σ_(2) can enhance the bearing capacity of rock, thereby necessitating a higher stress condition required for strainburst. However,it also enlarges the potential strainburst intensity, manifesting as deeper rockburst pits and more violent ejection of rock fragments. An increasing σ_(2) facilitates the microscope transgranular fractures, inhibits intergranular tensile fractures, and raises the kinetic energy conversion ratio slightly. It affects the intensity of strainburst through the following mechanisms, including the increase of energy storage limit, the intensification of Poisson effect for lateral expansion, and the enhancement of the transgranular fracturing mechanism. In practical engineering, the depth and range of support needs to be ensured under high σ_(2) conditions, and it is recommended to use prestressing techniques to control the development of significant slabbing.

文摘Rock-ice avalanches in cold high-mountain regions pose severe hazards due to their high mobility, yet the quantitative controls of particle-size ratio and ice content remain insufficiently constrained. This study investigates their coupled effects using inclinedflume experiments and Discrete Element Method(DEM)simulations, covering three gravel sizes(2-5 mm,5-7 mm,7-10 mm)and four ice-content levels(0%,20%,40%,60%).Run-out distance, velocity, energy components, flow regime(Savage number),and segregation indexαwere quantified.Increasing ice content significantly enhances mobility, but with diminishing marginal effectiveness. From 0%to 40%ice content,run-out distance increases by 41%-86%,whereas the additional increase from 40%to 60%contributes only 12%-23%.Particle-size ratio strongly governs segregation intensity.Fine-gravel groups reach segregation indices ofα=0.92-0.98,indicating nearly complete upward migration of ice, whereas medium-gravel and coarse-gravel groups exhibit much weaker segregation, stabilizing atα=0.68-0.74 and 0.60-0.69.Savage number analyses reveal marked flow-regime transitions. At 0%ice content,Savage numbers reach 1.0-1.5,indicating a collisional regime.Increasing ice content suppresses collisionality, with Savage numbers decreasing to 0.03-0.07 at 60%ice content, consistent with dense-regime flow.DEM energy analyses confirm this regime shift:for finegravel mixtures, collision energy decreases by 14%,while sliding-friction energy increases by 33%as ice content increases from 0%to 60%,reflecting enhanced overburden effects imposed by upward-segregated ice layers.Medium and coarse mixtures exhibit weaker or opposite energy-shift patterns, demonstrating strong size dependence.Mechanistically, large particle-size contrasts promote strong segregation and form dense basal rock layers that increase basal friction and reduce mobility. When particle sizes are similar or ice content is high, segregation remains limited, allowing ice to mix into the basal layer, thereby reducing basal friction and enhancing mobility. This research quantitatively demonstrates how composition controls particle spatial distribution, flow regime, and energy dissipation, offering new mechanistic insights into the propagation and deposition behaviors of rock-ice avalanches and improving hazard assessment in vulnerable high-mountain regions.

文摘4-Bromo-3-methylphenol(BMP)is an important chemical intermediate with wide applications in the fields of medicine and pesticides. The synthesis of BMP from m-cresol via bromination is easy to carry out on an industrial scale. However, due to the formation of regioisomeric impurities during bromination and the low melting point of BMP,the separation process is prone to the formation of oily substances, resulting in low yield and purity. In this work,a new cocrystallization engineering approach was proposed to separate and purify BMP.Through design of experiments, the cocrystallization process of BMP and triethylenediamine(DABCO)was optimized using a minimum-run resolution IV screening design combined with response surface methodology. In addition, the obtained 2BMP-DABCO powder was characterized by thermal analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy.Single crystals of 2BMP-DABCO were grown from acetone by slow evaporation, and detailed structural information was obtained through single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The self-assembly mechanism was further clarified by density functional theory calculations. This study provides a simple, robust, and scalable method for the production of BMP and offers a reference for the separation and purification of phenolic substances.
文摘In order to understand the melting processes that occur within recycled oceanic crust and mantle in a heterogeneous plume (e.g., that beneath the Hawaiian Islands), a series of high-pressure-high-temperature layered experiments were performed at 2.9 GPa, 5 GPa, and 8 GPa, from 1300°C to 1650°C, using a fertile peridotite KLB-1 and N-MORB. Based on these results, we propose that the potential temperature of the sub-Hawaiian plume may be much lower than previously estimated.
文摘Due to the complex chemical composition of nickel ores, the requests for the decrease of production costs, and the increase of nickel extraction in the existing depletion of high-grade sulfide ores around the world, computer modeling of nickel ore leaching process be- came a need and a challenge. The model is based on the multi-layer neural networks with the back-propagation (BP) learning algorithm and the bipolar sigmoid activation function.
文摘Modelling of migration and accumulation of elements Au and Ag in rocks under temperatures of 350–450°C and a confining pressure of 300 MPa and axial pressure of 100–150 MPa is conducted. It is found that the contents of gold and silver get higher in metallic sulphides such as pyrite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite as well as in quartz and muscovite, and get lower in chlorite, biotite, seriate, albite and calcite, showing that tectono-dynamics is one of the important factors for petrogenesis and metallogenesis.

文摘In order to improve our understanding of rock fracture and fault instability driven by high-pressure fluid sources, the authors carried out rock fracture tests using granite under a confining pressure of 80 MPa with fluid injection in the laboratory. Our study, which incorporates laboratory experiments and numerical simulations, indicates that such an approach is helpful in finding a better model not only for simulating experimental results but also for upscaling purposes.

文摘China’s first high-pressure hydraulically coupled rock-breaking tunnel boring machine(TBM) was designed to overcome the rock breaking problems of TBM in super-hard rock geology, where high-pressure water jet system is configured, including high-flow pump sets, high-pressure rotary joint and high-pressure water jet injection device. The technical superiority of high-pressure water-jet-assisted rock breaking technology is highlighted and it provides guidance for the excavation parameter selection of high-pressure hydraulically coupled rock-breaking TBM.

文摘High pressure die casting(HPDC)AlSi10Mn Mg alloy castings are widely used in the automobile industry.Mg can optimize the mechanical properties of castings through heat treatment, while the release of thermal stress arouses the deformation of large integrated die-castings.Herein,the development of non-heat treatment Al alloys is becoming the hot topic. In addition,HPDC contains externally solidified crystals(ESCs),which are detrimental to the mechanical properties of castings. To achieve high strength and toughness of non-heat treatment die-casting Al-Si alloy,we used AlSi9Mn alloy as matrix with the introduction of Zr,Ti,Nb,and Ce.Their influences on ESCs and mechanical properties were systematically investigated through three-dimensional reconstruction and thermodynamic simulation. Our results reveal that the addition of Ti increased ESCs'size and porosity, while the introduction of Nb refined ESCs and decreased porosity.Meanwhile,large-sized Al_3(Zr,Ti)phases formed and degraded the mechanical properties.Subsequent introduction of Ce resulted in the poisoning effect and reduced mechanical properties.
文摘According to the theory of phononic crystals, the hydraulic pipeline is designed to be a periodic structure composed of steel pipes and hoses to suppress the vibration of the hydraulic system with band gaps. This study provides an effective way for the vibration control of the hydraulic system.

文摘Based on the principles of massive support and lateral support, a novel double-layered split die(DLSD) for high-pressure apparatus was designed to achieve a higher pressure-bearing capacity and larger sample cavity. This work is rewarding for the commercial synthesis of high-quality, large-sized superhard materials using a double-layered split high-pressure die.

文摘Although magnetotelluric sounding method applied to the land is advanced, there are many difficulties when it is applied to marine environment, one of which is how to lay magnetic field sensors down to the seafloor to complete measurements. Using experimental results as standardization data, the frequency responses collected from seafloor magnetotelluric measurements can be corrected to restore real information about the seafloor field source.

文摘The utilization of ironsand for preparing oxidized pellets poses challenges, including slow oxidation and low consolidation strength. The effects and function mechanisms of high-pressure grinding roll(HPGR)pretreatment on the oxidation and consolidation of ironsand pellets were investigated, and the energy utilization efficiency of HPGR with different roller pressure intensities was evaluated. The results indicate that HPGR pretreatment at 8 MPa improves the ironsand properties, with the specific surface area increasing by 740 cm^(2) g^(-1) and mechanical energy storage increasing by 2.5 kJ mol^(-1),which is conducive to oxidation and crystalline connection of particles. As roller pressure intensity increases to 16 MPa,more mechanical energy of HPGR is applied for crystal activation, with mechanical energy storage further rising by 18.1 kJ mol^(-1).The apparent activation energy for pellet oxidation initially decreases and then increases, reaching a minimum at 12 MPa.Simultaneously, the roasted pellets porosity decreases by 2.8%,while the compressive strength increases by 789 N.At higher roller pressure intensity, the densely connected structure between particles impedes gas diffusion within the pellets, diminishing the beneficial effects of HPGR on pellet oxidation. Moreover, excessive roller pressure intensity decreases the HPGR energy utilization efficiency. The optimal HPGR roller pressure intensity for ironsand is 12 MPa,at which the specific surface area increases by 790 cm^(2) g^(-1),mechanical energy storage increases by 10.6 kJ mol^(-1),the compressive strength of roasted pellets rises to 2816 N,and the appropriate preheating and roasting temperatures decrease by 250 and 125°C,respectively.

文摘Burial dissolution is a critical diagenetic process influencing ultra-deep carbonate reservoir development and preservation.Artificial carbonate samples with different internal structures were prepared, and high-temperature and highpressure dissolution kinetic simulations were conducted. The results demonstrate that the intensity of burial dissolution is controlled by temperature and pressure, while tectonic-fluid activity influences the development pattern of burial dissolution, ultimately determining the direction of its differential modification.Extensive burial dissolution is likely to occur primarily at relatively shallow depths, significantly influencing reservoir formation, preservation, modification, and adjustment. The development of faults facilitates the maintenance of the intensity of burial dissolution. The maximum intensity of burial dissolution occurs at the tips and overlap zones of faults and intersections of multiple faults. The larger the scale of the faults, the more conducive it is to the development of burial dissolution.Burial dissolution fosters the formation of fault networks characterized by enhanced reservoir capacity and permeability.Burial dissolution controlled by episodic tectonic-fluid activity is a plausible explanation for forming the Tarim Basin's ultra-deep fault-controlled“stringbead-like”reservoirs.
