High-order models with a dissipative term for nonlinear and dispersive wave in water of varying depth with an arbitrary sloping bottom are presented in this article. First, the formal derivations to any high order of mu(= h/lambda, depth to deep-water wave length ratio) and epsilon(= a/h, wave amplitude to depth ratio) for velocity potential, particle velocity vector, pressure and the Boussinesq-type equations for surface elevation eta and horizontal velocity vector (U) over right arrow at any given level in water are given. Then, the exact explicit expressions to the fourth order of mu are derived. Finally, the linear solutions of eta, (U) over right arrow, C (phase-celerity) and C-g (group velocity) for a constant water depth are obtained. Compared with the Airy theory, excellent results can be found even for a water depth as large as the wave legnth. The present high-order models are applicable to nonlinear regular and irregular waves in water of any varying depth (from shallow to deep) and bottom slope (from mild to steep). 展开更多

In this paper,a high-order distortion model is proposed for analyzing the rotating stall inception process induced by inlet distortion in axial compressors.A distortion-generating screen in the compressor inlet is considered.By assuming a quadratic function for the local flow total pressure-drop,the existing Mansoux model is extended to include the effects of static inlet distortion, and a new high-order distortion model is derived. To illustrate the effectiveness of the distortion model, numerical simulations are performed on an eighteenth-order model. It is demonstrated that long length-scale disturbances emerge out of the distorted background flow, and further induce the onset of rotating stall in advance. In addition, the circumferential non-uniform distribution and time evolution of the axial flow are also shown to be consistent with the existing features. It is thus shown that the high-order distortion model is capable of describing the transient behavior of stall inception and will contribute further to stall detection under inlet distortion. 展开更多

High-precision optical frequency measurement serves as a cornerstone of modern science and technology, enabling advancements in fields ranging from fundamental physics to quantum information technologies.Obtaining precise photon frequencies, especially in the ultraviolet or even extreme ultraviolet regimes,is a key goal in both light–matter interaction experiments and engineering applications.High-order harmonic generation(HHG)is an ideal light source for producing such photons. In this work,we propose an optical temporal interference model(OTIM)that establishes an analogy with multi-slit Fraunhofer diffraction(MSFD)to manipulate fine-frequency photon generation by exploiting the temporal coherence of HHG processes. Our model provides a unified physical framework for three distinct non-integer HHG generation schemes:single-pulse,shaped-pulse,and laser pulse train approaches, which correspond to single-MSFD-like,double-MSFD-like,and multi-MSFD-like processes, respectively.Arbitrary non-integer HHG photons can be obtained using our scheme. Our approach provides a new perspective for accurately measuring and controlling photon frequencies in fields such as frequency comb technology, interferometry, and atomic clocks. 展开更多

The high-order deformation effects in even-even^(246,248)No are investigated by means of pairing self-consistent WoodsSaxon-Strutinsky calculations using the potential-energy-surface(PES)approach in an extended deformation space(β_(2),β_(3),β_(4),β_(5),β_(6),β_(7),β_(8)).Based on the calculated two-dimensional projected energy maps and different potential energy curves,we found that the highly even-order deformations have an important impact on both the fission trajectory and energy minima, while the odd-order deformations, accompanying the even-order ones, primarily affect the fission path beyond the second barrier.Relative to the light actinide nuclei, the nuclear ground state changes to the superdeformed configuration, but the normally deformed minimum,as the low-energy shape isomer, may still be primarily responsible for enhancing nuclear stability and ensuring experimental accessibility in^(246,248)No.Our present investigation indicates the nonnegligible impact of high-order deformation effects along the fission valley and will be helpful for deepening the understanding of different deformation effects and deformation couplings in nuclei, especially in this neutron-deficient heavy-mass region. 展开更多

In this paper, iterative learning control (ILC) design is studied for an iteration-varying tracking problem in which reference trajectories are generated by high-order internal models (HOLM). An HOlM formulated as a polynomial operator between consecutive iterations describes the changes of desired trajectories in the iteration domain and makes the iterative learning problem become iteration varying. The classical ILC for tracking iteration-invariant reference trajectories, on the other hand, is a special case of HOlM where the polynomial renders to a unity coefficient or a special first-order internal model. By inserting the HOlM into P-type ILC, the tracking performance along the iteration axis is investigated for a class of continuous-time nonlinear systems. Time-weighted norm method is utilized to guarantee validity of proposed algorithm in a sense of data-driven control. 展开更多

A high-order internal model(HOIM) is utilized to describe the variation of desired trajectories in the iteration domain. In the sequel, the HOIM is incorporated into the design of learning gains. The Spalart-Allmaras (S-A) turbulence model, the shear-stress transport (SST) turbulence model and their compressibility corrections are revaluated for hypersonic compression comer flows by using high-order difference schemes. The compressibility effect of density gradient, pressure dilatation and turbulent Mach number is accounted. In order to reduce confusions between model uncertainties and discretization errors, the formally fifth-order explicit weighted compact nonlinear scheme (WCNS-E-5) is adopted for convection terms, and a fourth-order staggered central difference scheme is applied for viscous terms. The 15° and 34° compression comers at Mach number 9.22 are investigated. Numerical results show that the original SST model is superior to the original S-A model in the resolution of separated regions and predictions of wall pressures and wall heat-flux rates. The capability of the S-A model can be largely improved by blending Catris' and Shur's compressibility corrections. Among the three corrections of the SST model listed in the present paper, Catris' modification brings the best results. However, the dissipation and pressure dilatation corrections result in much larger separated regions than that of the experiment, and are much worse than the original SST model as well as the other two corrections. The correction of turbulent Mach number makes the separated region slightly smaller than that of the original SST model. Some results of low-order schemes are also presented. When compared to the results of the high-order schemes, the separated regions are smaller, and the peak wall pressures and peak heat-flux rates are lower in the region of the reattachment points. 展开更多

Finite-difference methods with high-order accuracy have been utilized to improve the precision of numerical solution for partial differential equations. However, the computation cost generally increases linearly with increased order of accuracy. Upon examination of the finite-difference formulas for the first-order and second-order derivatives, and the staggered finite-difference formulas for the first-order derivative, we examine the variation of finite-difference coefficients with accuracy order and note that there exist some very small coefficients. With the order increasing, the number of these small coefficients increases, however, the values decrease sharply. An error analysis demonstrates that omitting these small coefficients not only maintain approximately the same level of accuracy of finite difference but also reduce computational cost significantly. Moreover, it is easier to truncate for the high-order finite-difference formulas than for the pseudospectral for- mulas. Thus this study proposes a truncated high-order finite-difference method, and then demonstrates the efficiency and applicability of the method with some numerical examples. 展开更多

Abstract Based on the Reynolds-averaged Navier--Stokes (RANS) equations and structured grid technology, the calibration and validation of Y-Reo transition model is preformed with fifth-order weighted compact nonlinear scheme (WCNS), and the purpose of the present work is to improve the numerical accuracy for aerodynamic characteristics simulation of low-speed flow with transition model on the basis of high-order numerical method study. Firstly, the empirical correlation functions involved in the Y-Reo transition model are modified and calibrated with experimental data of turbulent flat plates. Then, the grid convergence is studied on NLR-7301 two-element airfoil with the modified empirical correlation. At last, the modified empirical correlation is validated with NLR-7301 two-element airfoil and high-lift trapezoidal wing from transition location, velocity pro- file in boundary layer, surface pressure coefficient and aerodynamic characteristics. The numerical results illustrate that the numerical accuracy of transition length and skin friction behind transition location are improved with modified empirical correlation function, and obviously increases the numerical accuracy of aerodynamic characteristics prediction for typical transport configurations in low-speed range. 展开更多

With this regard, a multi-factor highorderintuitionistic fuzzy time series forecasting model is built. Inthe new model, a fuzzy clustering algorithm is used to get unequalintervals, and a more objective technique for ascertaining membershipand non-membership functions of the intuitionistic fuzzy setis proposed. Passive intermodulation(PIM)interference urgently needs to be solved in the satellite communication system, owing to degrading the whole performance.Mainstream research contributions to the cancellation method for PIM were focused on the analog domain, however, the PIM distortion cannot be eliminated completely with the approaches.Meanwhile, some researchers attempt to tackle the problem through digital signal processing, nevertheless, the proposed methods were not suitable for the practical satellite communication scenario. In this paper,we present a general scheme for the adaptive feedforward PIM cancellation.High-order PIM signals at baseband are estimated by modeling the PIM distortion with Hammerstein model in the digital domain.Based on the reconstructed PIM signal,we adopt the least mean square algorithm to adaptively mitigate the PIM interference for tracking the variation of PIM.The time and frequency synchronization of PIM are based on the correlation of the peak of received signals with the corresponding reconstructed PIM signal.Practical experimental results show that the scheme can effectively cancel the PIM interference, and achieve an interference suppression gain more than 20dB. 展开更多

The weakly ionized plasma flows in aerospace are commonly simulated by the single-fluid model, which cannot describe certain nonequilibrium phenomena by finite collisions of particles, decreasing the fidelity of the solution.Based on an alternative formulation of the targeted essentially non-oscillatory(TENO)scheme,a novel high-order numerical scheme is proposed to simulate the two-fluid plasmas problems. The numerical flux is constructed by the TENO interpolation of the solution and its derivatives, instead of being reconstructed from the physical flux. The present scheme is used to solve the two sets of Euler equations coupled with Maxwell's equations. The numerical methods are verified by several classical plasma problems. The results show that compared with the original TENO scheme, the present scheme can suppress the non-physical oscillations and reduce the numerical dissipation. 展开更多

The spatial distribution in high-order harmonic generation(HHG) is theoretically investigated by using a few-cycle laser pulse from a two-dimensional model of a hydrogen molecular ion. The spatial distribution in HHG demonstrates that the harmonic spectra are sensitive to the carrier envelope phase and the duration of the laser pulse. The HHG can be restrained by a pulse with the duration of 5 fs in the region from the 90 th to 320th order. This characteristic is illustrated by the probability density of electron wave packet distribution. The electron is mainly located near the nucleus along the positive-x direction from 3.0 o.c. to 3.2 o.c., which is an important time to generate the HHG in the plateau area. We also demonstrate the time-frequency distribution in the region of the positive-and negative-x direction to explain the physical mechanism. 展开更多

Model Predictive Control (MPC) has recently found wide acceptance in the process industry, but existing design and implementation methods are restricted to linear process models. A chemical process, however, involves severe nonlinearity which cannot be ignored in practice. This paper aims to solve this nonlinear control problem by extending MPC to accommodate nonlinear models. It develops an analytical framework for nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC). It also offers a third-order Volterra series based nonparametric nonlinear modelling technique for NMPC design, which relieves practising engineers from the need for deriving a physical-principles based model first. An on-line realisation technique for implementing NMPC is then developed and applied to a Mitsubishi Chemicals polymerisation reaction process. Results show that this nonlinear MPC technique is feasible and very effective. It considerably outperforms linear and low-order Volterra model based methods. The advantages of the developed approach lie not only in control performance superior to existing NMPC methods, but also in eliminating the need for converting an analytical model and then convert it to a Volterra model obtainable only up to the second order. This article provides the application of the high-order, staggered-grid, finite-difference scheme to model elastic wave propagation in 3-D isotropic media. Here, we use second-order, tempo- ral- and high-order spatial finite-difference formulations with a staggered grid for discretization of the 3-D elastic wave equations of motion. The set of absorbing boundary conditions based on paraxial approximations of 3-D elastic wave equations are applied to the numerical boundaries. This paper is set in the high-order finite-difference discretization of the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)equations,which are coupled with the turbulence model equations.Three alternative scale-providing variables for the specific dissipation rate(o)are implemented in the framework of the Reynolds stress model(RSM)for improving its robustness.Specifically,g(=1/√ω)has natural boundary conditions and reduced spatial gradients, and a new numerical constraint is imposed on itω(=lnω)can preserve positivity and also has reduced spatial gradients;the eddy viscosity v,also has natural boundary conditions and its equation is improved in this work. The solution polynomials of the mean-flow and turbulence-model equations are both reconstructed by the weighted compact nonlinear scheme(WCNS).Moreover, several numerical techniques are introduced to improve the numerical stability of the equation system.A range of canonical as well as industrial turbulent flows are simulated to assess the accuracy and robustness of the scale-transformed models.Numerical results show that the scale-transformed models have significantly improved robustness compared to the w model and still keep the characteristics of RSM.Therefore, the high-order discretization of the RANS and RSM equations, which number 12 in total, can be successfully achieved. 展开更多

The Reynolds stress model(RSM)outperforms the eddy viscosity model(EVM)when simulating complex flows and has increased demand for high-order discretization. However, the complexity of the RSM equations results in poor numerical stability and weak convergence performance. One of the reasons is that the properties of Reynolds stresses are not fully considered in the design of the numerical scheme. In response to this issue, this study develops an adaptive algorithm to adjustε_(β)values(an empirical parameter in nonlinear weights)according to the magnitude and smoothness of the Reynolds stresses. This algorithm is introduced into the fifth-order weighted compact nonlinear scheme(WCNS)and is applied to the high-order discretization of the RSM.Three aeronautic test cases are simulated to investigate the performance of the algorithm. The numerical results show that, the adaptive algorithm can reduce the residual by up to 3 orders of magnitude and predict the correct weights for gradient reversals. These results confirm that the application of theε_(β)-adaptive algorithm to the high-order discretization of the RSM is beneficial both for enhancing convergence and improving resolution. 展开更多

We theoretically investigate the high-order harmonic generation(HHG)of defect-free solids by solving the timedependent Schrodinger equation(TDSE).The results show that the harmonic intensity can be enhanced, harmonic order can be extended, and modulation near the cutoff order becomes smaller for the second plateau by increasing the time delay. These effects are due to an increase of the electron population in higher energy bands, where the larger band gap allows electrons to release more energy, and the long electronic paths are suppressed.Additionally,we also investigate the HHG of defective solids by Bohmian trajectories(BT).It is found that the harmonic intensity of the second plateau can be further enhanced.Simultaneously, cutoff order is also extended due to Bohmian particles moving farther away from the defective zone. 展开更多
