An efficient approximate scheme is presented for wave-propagation simulation in piecewise heterogeneous media by applying the Born-series approximation to volume-scattering waves. The numerical scheme is tested for dimensionless frequency responses to a heterogeneous alluvial valley where the velocity is perturbed randomly in the range of 5 %–25 %,compared with the full-waveform numerical solution. Then,the scheme is extended to a heterogeneous multilayered model by calculating synthetic seismograms to evaluate approximation accuracies Numerical experiments indicate that the convergence rate of this method decreases gradually with increasing velocity perturbations. The method has a fast convergence for velocity perturbations less than 15 %. However,the convergence becomes slow drastically when the velocity perturbation increases to 20 %. The method can hardly converge for the velocity perturbation up to 25 %. 展开更多

In recent years,separating and extracting technologies of condensate gas have been developed by combining a swirl flow with non-equilibrium condensation phenomena of condensate gas generated in a supersonic flow.The technology can reduce the size of the device and does not use chemicals.However,there are many unresolved problems for performance of the separation,extraction and operating principle.Therefore it is necessary to research further in order to improve the performance of the equipment.In the present study,the numerical study was carried out to clarify the effect of the heterogeneous condensation on the characteristics of the swirling flow field in a supersonic annular nozzle,and the differences between homogeneous condensation and heterogeneous condensation in the flow field.As the results,it is found that the condensation flow with a swirl affects the position of sonic line,the generating position of condensate and the radial distribution ratio of liquid phase. 展开更多

Although the proportional current sharing has been widely studied,the heterogeneous characteristic of the different interfaced converters and power coupling terms among distributed generators(DGs)are rarely considered.Therefore,this paper proposes a secondary H_(∞)consensus method with a periodic dynamic event-driven scheme for dc microgrids with power coupling to accomplish the precise proportional current-sharing.It is useful for reducing carbon.First,a generalized converter is constructed through equivalent transformation between rectifier and boost converter.Moreover,the heterogeneous characteristic of the interfaced converters regarding different DGs,such as wind and solar generators,is embedded into controller design.Furthermore,the standard linear heterogeneous multi-agent system with power coupling term is built.On this basis,the problem of proportional current sharing is modified into the output consistency problem of multi-agent systems.Furthermore,the H_(∞)consensus approach is proposed to accomplish the precise proportional current sharing.Meanwhile,to shorten communication bandwidth,the periodic dynamic event-driven communication strategy is designed.Compared with traditional event-driven communication schemes,a lower communication frequency has been obtained through the proposed communication scheme.In addition,this communication scheme not only avoids Zeno-behavior,but also acquires the smallest sampling time interval.Finally,effectiveness of the proposed approach is verified by two test systems. 展开更多

The COVID pandemic has accelerated the growth of ecommerce and reshaped shopping patterns,which in turn impacts trip-making and vehicle miles traveled.The objectives of this study are to define shopping styles and quantify their prevalence in the population,investigate the impact of the pandemic on shopping style transition,understand the generational heterogeneity and other factors that influence shopping styles,and comment on the potential impact of the pandemic on long-term shopping behavior.Two months after the initial shutdown(May/June 2021),we collected ecommerce behavioral data from 313 Sacramento Region households using an online survey.A K-means clustering analysis of shopping behavior across eight commodity types identified five shopping styles,including ecommerce independent,ecommerce dependent,and three mixed modes in-between.We found that the share of ecommerce independent style shifted from 55%pre-pandemic to 27%during the pandemic.Overall,30%kept the same style as pre-pandemic,54%became more ecommerce dependent,and 16%became less ecommerce dependent,with the latter group more likely to view shopping an excuse to get out.Heterogeneity was found across generations.Pre-pandemic,Millennials and Gen Z were the most ecommerce dependent,but during the pandemic they made relatively small shifts toward increased ecommerce dependency.Baby Boomers and the Silent Generation were bimodal,either sticking to in-person shopping or shifting to ecommercedependency during the pandemic.Post-pandemic intentions varied across styles,with households who primarily adopt non-food ecommerce intending to reverse back to in-person shopping,while the highly ecommerce dependent intend to limit future in-store activities. 展开更多
