Agricultural Intangible Cultural Heritage(AICH)embodies collective,intergenerational knowledge sys⁃tems that are increasingly exposed to risks of misappropriation and inequitable commercialization under contemporary i...Agricultural Intangible Cultural Heritage(AICH)embodies collective,intergenerational knowledge sys⁃tems that are increasingly exposed to risks of misappropriation and inequitable commercialization under contemporary intellectual property(IP)regimes.This study investigates the"cost of inaction"in protecting AICH and geographical origins through a qualitative comparative case study approach,drawing on selected cases from Africa,Asia,and Latin America,alongside Chinese practices.By combining narrative analysis and thematic synthesis,the study identi⁃fies two dominant patterns:external misappropriation driven by institutional gaps-manifested in biopiracy,trademark squatting,and exploitation of information asymmetry-and internal inequities arising from commercialization processes that marginalize indigenous communities in benefit-sharing.The findings reveal that existing international IP frame⁃works,including TRIPs and the CBD,provide fragmented and insufficient protection for collective knowledge sys⁃tems.Comparative analysis of national responses highlights three distinct governance models:defensive protection(In⁃dia),rights-based sui generis legislation(Peru),and market-oriented geographical indication systems(European Union),each with inherent limitations.In contrast,Chinese practices demonstrate strong capacity in market integra⁃tion and industrial upgrading but remain constrained by weak recognition of community rights and limited institutional⁃ization of benefit-sharing mechanisms.This study contributes to the literature by proposing a composite institutional framework that integrates existing IP regimes with a sui generis system centered on collective rights recognition,prior informed consent,and mandatory benefit-sharing.The framework also emphasizes the need for embedded integration with patent,trademark,and geographical indication systems,as well as institutional adaptation in the context of the digital economy.The findings offer theoretical insights and policy implications for developing countries seeking to bal⁃ance cultural preservation,economic development,and equitable governance of traditional knowledge.展开更多

Tree failure is an international problem,a major risk to public safety,and of growing concern because of extreme weather events.Tree biomechanics can inform the probability of tree failure,but empirical data from trop...Tree failure is an international problem,a major risk to public safety,and of growing concern because of extreme weather events.Tree biomechanics can inform the probability of tree failure,but empirical data from tropical settings are scarce.As a case study,we analyze the biomechanics(safety factor)of large heritage trees in public spaces in Indonesia.We examined critical buckling height using the Euler and Ylinen bending stress method.Tree morphometry(height,diameter at breast height,crown diameter),stability(modulus of elasticity),critical buckling height,and safety factor were quantified during this study.We found that large heritage trees in public spaces with buttresses have taller and larger morphometry and higher trunk and crown weights than small trees without buttresses.These trees are highly stable against external pressure.The presence of buttresses protects the target tree from rain and wind,resulting in a higher critical buckling height(H_(cr))of large(58.9 m)and buttressed target trees(58.8)than small(33.5 m)and unbuttressed trees(42.6 m),and a safety factor level of 68%safer.We make recommendations for selecting and managing trees in public spaces in a way that(i)can enhance wellbeing and biodiversity in urban planning,and(ii)is informed by risk to public safety.展开更多

Chaoshan drawnwork handkerchief design exhibits self-similarity and fractal characteristics due to their grid-based structure,overall symmetry,and the way local motifs reflect the whole pattern.To explore the potentia...Chaoshan drawnwork handkerchief design exhibits self-similarity and fractal characteristics due to their grid-based structure,overall symmetry,and the way local motifs reflect the whole pattern.To explore the potential of fractals in traditional textile design,a fractal-based generative framework was proposed for efficiently creating drawnwork patterns suitable for practical handicraft production.The research was initiated with an analysis of the structural composition of center,skeleton,and filler motifs extracted from a pattern sample library.Based on this hierarchical classification,the box-counting method was employed to calculate their respective fractal dimensions.Building on fractal art theory,generative algorithms,and studies on the application of Ultra Fractal,a Chaoshan drawnwork fractal design model was established.Using this model,51 drawnwork fractal patterns and 153 handkerchief patterns were generated.These patterns were subsequently applied in real-world production to validate the feasibility and value of fractal techniques in textile design.展开更多

文摘Xi Jinping,general secretary of the Communist Party of China(CPC)Central Committee,stressed that we should adhere to the“two integrations”(namely,integrating the basic tenets of Marxism with China’s specific realities and fine traditional culture),root ourselves in Chinese soil,carry forward the Chinese cultural heritage,and strengthen the academic foundation.We should accelerate the building of an independent knowledge system for Chinese philosophy and social sciences,and formulate original concepts and develop systems of academic discipline,research and discourse,drawing on China’s rich experience of advancing human rights.In the face of changes of a magnitude not seen in a century,in the historic process of advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through Chinese modernization,we should and must strengthen our theoretical self-consciousness and confidence in the path of Chinese modernization.We need to enhance human rights research,develop the human rights theoretical system and paradigm that are based on Chinese realities and express Chinese voice,and an independent Chinese knowledge system for human rights.
文摘In the context of global digital transformation and the rising prominence of maker education,this study explores the innovative integration of digital modeling technologies with traditional Nixing Pottery craftsmanship.By constructing a teaching framework under maker education theory,the research investigates how 3D modeling,CAD design,and 3D printing technologies can empower learners to address challenges in cultural heritage preservation and artistic innovation.Through experimental teaching and case analysis,the study verifies that this integrated approach significantly enhances learners’digital literacy,creative thinking,and cultural identity while optimizing Nixing Pottery’s production processes and design possibilities.The findings contribute to theoretical models of technology-enhanced craft education and provide practical pathways for the digital transformation of intangible cultural heritage.
文摘Chaoshan drawnwork handkerchief design exhibits self-similarity and fractal characteristics due to their grid-based structure,overall symmetry,and the way local motifs reflect the whole pattern.To explore the potential of fractals in traditional textile design,a fractal-based generative framework was proposed for efficiently creating drawnwork patterns suitable for practical handicraft production.The research was initiated with an analysis of the structural composition of center,skeleton,and filler motifs extracted from a pattern sample library.Based on this hierarchical classification,the box-counting method was employed to calculate their respective fractal dimensions.Building on fractal art theory,generative algorithms,and studies on the application of Ultra Fractal,a Chaoshan drawnwork fractal design model was established.Using this model,51 drawnwork fractal patterns and 153 handkerchief patterns were generated.These patterns were subsequently applied in real-world production to validate the feasibility and value of fractal techniques in textile design.
