This study examines the properties of standard cold dark matter(CDM),fuzzy dark matter(FDM),and selfinteracting dark matter(SIDM)haloes by analyzing the rotation curves of selected dwarf galaxies from SPARC and LITTLE THINGS in 3D catalogs.Utilizing the Markov Chain Monte Carlo(MCMC)method for model fitting and Bayesian Information Criterion for model comparison,we find that compared to CDM,both FDM and SIDM haloes generally provide better fits to the observed rotation curves.Our findings reveal that the concentration–mass relation derived from the dark matter-only simulations is not followed by concentrations or masses obtained from the rotation curve data.Our analysis highlights a positive correlation between the core sizes of FDM and SIDM haloes and the effective radius of the galaxy,attributable to gravitational couplings between baryonic and dark matter components.Moreover,our exploration of dark matter fractions at characteristic radii indicates considerable diversity in dark matter distributions across dwarf galaxies.Notably,FDM and SIDM exhibit greater diversity than CDM in this respect. 展开更多

Galactic Haloes from Self-Interacting Neutrinos

Light fermions, with masses on the order of 1 eV/c<sup>... The objective of this research is to provide an explanation of galactic haloes using established particles and forces using recent theoretical developments. Light fermions, with masses on the order of 1 eV/c<sup>2</sup>, are not a leading candidate for dark matter because of their large free-streaming scale length and their violation of the Tremaine-Gunn bound. With a self-interaction of fermions, the free-streaming scaling length is reduced, and the tenets of the Tremaine-Gunn bound are not applicable. Binding of neutrinos via a feeble SU(3) force is considered as a model for such interactions. The assumed sum of masses of the three neutrino flavors is 0.07 eV/c<sup>2</sup>. The resulting form of matter for such bound neutrinos is found to be a degenerate Fermi fluid. Pressure-equilibrium approaches applied to this fluid provide cuspy solutions and match observationally-inferred profiles for galactic haloes. Such approaches also match the observed total enclosed mass for galaxies similar to the Milky Way. The computed structures are found to be stable. The hypothesis is considered in view of observationally-inferred halo-halo interactions and gives results that are consistent with the observed Bullet cluster halo interaction. The theory gives agreement with observationally-inferred properties of dark matter near earth. Questions related to interaction rates, consistency with SN1987a data, the cosmic microwave background, the issue of SU(3) interactions between neutrinos and quarks, free-streaming after neutrino decoupling, and dark-matter abundance are addressed in a companion paper. 展开更多

Although it has been recently suggested that primary haloes incude positive and negative ones, almost all the research work on primary haloes has still focused on positive haloes for various reasons. In order to understand the source of ore substances a number of large hydrothermal deposits related to magmatism including porphyry, skarn and vein type deposits have been studied. It has been found that negative haloes exist on the peripheries of positive haloes of a mineral deposit. On the basis of the study the authors propose the concept of the geochemical field system of ore-forming elements of hydrotherreal deposits, i. e., with the orebody as the centre outwards there occur the mineralized field, positive halo field, depleted field and background field successively. 展开更多

We study the subhalo and satellite populations in haloes similar to the Milky Way(MW)-Andromeda paired configuration in the Millennium II and P-Millennium simulations.We find subhaloes are 5%–15%more abundant in paired haloes than their isolated counterparts that have the same halo mass and large-scale environmental density.Paired haloes tend to reside in a more isotropic environment than isolated haloes,the shear tensor of their large-scale tidal field is possibly responsible for this difference.We also study the thickness of the spatial distribution of the top 11 most massive satellite galaxies obtained in the semi-analytic galaxy sample constructed from the Millennium II simulation.Moreover,satellites that have lost their host subhaloes due to the resolution limit of the simulation have been taken into account.As a result,we find that the difference in the distribution of the satellite thickness between isolated and paired haloes is indistinguishable,which suggests that the paired configuration is not responsible for the observed plane of satellites in the MW.The results in this study indicate the paired configuration could bring some nonnegligible effect on the subhalo abundance in the investigation of the MW's satellite problems. 展开更多

To investigate the structural configuration of^(6)He and^(6)Be in a three-cluster system and to highlight dinucleon correlations,we performed a two-cluster overlap amplitude(TCOA)calculation,which is an extension of the RWA formalism.The total wave functions were obtained using the generator coordinate method with microscopic cluster wave functions.Based on these wave functions,we calculated the overlap amplitudes to extract the relative motion and spatial correlations between clusters.The computed energy spectra showed reasonable agreement with the experimental data,emphasizing the effectiveness of the present framework for investigating dinucleon correlations in light nuclei.Our results revealed the presence of both dinucleon-like and cigar-like configurations in the ground states of^(6)He and^(6)Be,indicating a coexistence of compact and extended cluster structures.Furthermore,the 2_(1)^(+)state of^(6)He revealed a pronounced dineutron structure,with strong spatial correlations between the two valence neutrons.We also performed calculations for the higher-lying 2_(1)^(+)state,which showed a more spatially extended structure and provided potential references for future experimental investigations.These findings demonstrated that the TCOA method served as a powerful tool to explore cluster dynamics and dinucleon features in light,weakly bound nuclear systems. 展开更多

In this paper we consider a static spherically symmetric black hole(BH)embedded in a Dehnen-(1,4,0)-type dark matter(DM)halo in the presence of a cloud string.We examine and present data on how the core density of the DM halo parameter and the cloud string parameter affect BH attributes such as quasinormal modes(QNMs)and shadow cast.To do this,we first look into the effective potential of perturbation equations for three types of perturbation fields with different spins:massless scalar field,electromagnetic field and gravitational field.Then,using the sixth-order Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin approximation,we examine QNMs of the BH disturbed by the three fields and derive quasinormal frequencies.The changes in QNM versus the core density parameter and the cloud string parameter for three disturbances are explored.We also investigate how the core density and the cloud string parameter affect the photon sphere and shadow radius.Interestingly,the study shows that the influence of Dehnen-type DM and cloud strings increases both the photon sphere and the shadow radius.Finally,we employ observational data from Sgr A^(*) and M87^(*) to set limitations on the BH parameters. 展开更多

With the significant development of high-intensity hadron(proton and heavy ion)accelerator facilities,the space charge effect has become a major limiting factor for increasing beam intensity because it can drive particle resonance,forming beam halos and causing beam quality degradation or even beam loss.In studies on space charge,the particle-core model(PCM)has been widely adopted to describe halo particle formation.In this paper,we generalize the conventional PCM to include dispersion to investigate the physical mechanism of the beam halo in high-intensity synchrotrons.In particular,a“1:1 parametric resonance”driven by the combined effects of space charge and dispersion is identified.A large dispersion is proven to have a damping effect on the 2:1 parametric resonance.The analysis based on the generalized PCM agrees with particle-in-cell simulations.A beam halo with large mismatch oscillations is also discussed. 展开更多

We employed random distributions and gradient descent methods for the Generator Coordinate Method(GCM)to identify effective basis wave functions,taking halo nuclei ^(6)He and ^(6)Li as examples.By comparing the ground state(0^(+))energy of ^(6)He and the excited state(0^(+))energy of 6 Li calculated with various random distributions and manually selected generation coordinates,we found that the heavy tail characteristic of the logistic distribution better describes the features of the halo nuclei.Subsequently,the Adam algorithm from machine learning was applied to optimize the basis wave functions,indicating that a limited number of basis wave functions can approximate the converged values.These results offer some empirical insights for selecting basis wave functions and contribute to the broader application of machine learning methods in predicting effective basis wave functions. 展开更多

Using a semi-analytic approach,we estimate halo spins for a large sample of H I-rich galaxies from the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA Survey and examine the correlation between H I mass fractions and halo spins.Our analysis reveals a strong correlation between halo spin and the H I-to-stellar mass ratio in both low-mass and massive galaxy samples.This finding suggests a universal formation scenario:higher halo spin reduces angular momentum loss and gas condensation,leading to lower star formation rates and weaker feedback,which in turn help retain gas within dark matter halos. 展开更多

Leveraging the semi-analytic method,we compute halo spins for a substantial sample of H I-bearing galaxies observed in the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA Survey.Our statistical analysis reveals a correlation between halo spin and environment,although the trend is subtle.On average,galaxies exhibit a decreasing halo spin tendency in denser environments.This observation contrasts with previous results from N-body simulations in the Lambda Cold Dark Matter framework.The discrepancy may be attributed to environmental gas stripping,leading to an underestimation of halo spins in galaxies in denser environments,or to baryonic processes that significantly alter the original dark matter halo spins,deviating from previous N-body simulation findings. 展开更多

In this paper,we study the rotation curves of the Milky Way galaxy and Andromeda galaxy(M31)by considering their bulge,disk,and halo components.We model the bulge region by the widely accepted de Vaucouleur’s law and the disk region by the well established exponential profile.In order to understand the distribution of dark matter in the halo region,we consider three different dark matter profiles in the framework of the standardΛCDM model namely,Navarro-Frenk-White(NFW),Hernquist and Einasto profiles.We use recent data sets of rotation curves of the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxy.The data consist of rotation velocities of the stars and gas in the galaxy as a function of the radial distance from the center.Using Bayesian statistics,we perform an overall fit including all the components,i.e.,bulge,disk and halo with the data.Our results indicate that the NFW and Hernquist profiles are in concordance with the observational data points.However,the Einasto profile poorly explains the behavior of dark matter in both the galaxies. 展开更多

We analyze the absorption features in the public 73 ks XMM-Newton spectra of the Seyfert 1 galaxy PG 0052+251.Our analysis reveals the presence of a warm absorber(WA)intrinsic to the source and the hot circumgalactic medium at zero redshift.The identified WA is inflowing toward the central black hole,with a velocity shift of■.The ionization parameter of the WA is■,showing strong O II and O III absorption lines,along with a significant absorption of the spectral continuum at?10?.The line of sight toward PG 0052+251 intersects the halo of M31 at an impact parameter of approximately 218 kpc.Several local(z~0)absorption lines,like O VII,O VIII,and Ne IX,were detected.The derived hydrogen column density of the local hot gas is 2.2–2.6σhigher than those estimated by several models of the Galactic hot halo,suggesting a likely contribution from the M31 halo.We also find two absorption features at24.305?and 21.410?,which are unlikely to be associated with the hot halos or the warm-hot intergalactic medium but imply the presence of an additional WA component with an outflow velocity of approximately-7000 km s^(-1). 展开更多
