Spar technology has been applied to the deep-sea oil and gas exploitation for several years. From the first generation of classic spar, the spar platform has developed into the second generation of truss spar and the latest cell spar. Owing to its favorable adaptability to wide range of water depth and benign motion performances, spar has aroused quite a lot of interests from oil companies, universities and research institutes. In the present paper, a new cell-truss spar concept, put forward by the State Key Laboratory of Ocean Engineering (SKLOE) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, is studied both numerically and experimentally. The numerical simulation was conducted by means of nonlinear time-domain fully coupled analysis, and its results were compared to the experimental data. Whereafter, detailed analysis was carried out to obtain the global performances of' the new spar concept. Proposals for the improvement of numerical calculation and experimental technique were tabled meanwhile. 展开更多

This paper addresses the lane-keeping control problem for autonomous ground vehicles subject to input saturation and uncertain system parameters. An enhanced adaptive terminal sliding mode based prescribed performance control scheme is proposed, which enables the lateral position error of the vehicle to be kept within the prescribed performance boundaries all the time. This is achieved by firstly introducing an improved performance function into the controller design such that the stringent initial condition requirements can be relaxed, which further allows the global prescribed performance control result, and then, developing a multivariable adaptive terminal sliding mode based controller such that both input saturation and parameter uncertainties are handled effectively, which further ensures the robust lane-keeping control. Finally, the proposed control strategy is validated through numerical simulations, demonstrating its effectiveness. 展开更多

Background:A One Health approach has been increasingly mainstreamed by the international community, as it provides for holistic thinking in recognizing the close links and inter-dependence of the health of humans, animals and the environment. However, the dearth of real-world evidence has hampered application of a One Health approach in shaping policies and practice. This study proposes the development of a potential evaluation tool for One Health performance, in order to contribute to the scientific measurement of One Health approach and the identification of gaps where One Health capacity building is most urgently needed. Methods:We describe five steps towards a global One Health index (GOHI), including (i) framework formulation;(ii) indicator selection;(iii) database building;(iv) weight determination;and (v) GOHI scores calculation. A cell-like framework for GOHI is proposed, which comprises an external drivers index (EDI), an intrinsic drivers index (IDI) and a core drivers index (CDI). We construct the indicator scheme for GOHI based on this framework after multiple rounds of panel discussions with our expert advisory committee. A fuzzy analytical hierarchy process is adopted to determine the weights for each of the indicators. Results:The weighted indicator scheme of GOHI comprises three first-level indicators, 13 second-level indicators, and 57 third-level indicators. According to the pilot analysis based on the data from more than 200 countries/territories the GOHI scores overall are far from ideal (the highest score of 65.0 out of a maximum score of 100), and we found considerable variations among different countries/territories (31.8–65.0). The results from the pilot analysis are consistent with the results from a literature review, which suggests that a GOHI as a potential tool for the assessment of One Health performance might be feasible. Conclusions:GOHI—subject to rigorous validation—would represent the world’s first evaluation tool that constructs the conceptual framework from a holistic perspective of One Health. Future application of GOHI might promote a common understanding of a strong One Health approach and provide reference for promoting effective measures to strengthen One Health capacity building. With further adaptations under various scenarios, GOHI, along with its technical protocols and databases, will be updated regularly to address current technical limitations, and capture new knowledge. 展开更多

Water resource is required for agricultural, industrial, and domestic activities and for environmental preservation. However, with the increase in population and growth of urbanization, industrialization, and commercial activities, planning and management of water resources have become a challenging task to meet various water demands globally. Information and data on streamflow hydrology are, thus, crucial for this purpose. However, availability of measured flow data in many cases is either inadequate or not available at all. When there is no gauging station available at the site of interest, various empirical methods are generally used to estimate the flow there and the best estimation is chosen. This study is focused on the estimation of monthly average flows by such methods popular in Nepal and assessment of how they compare with the results of hydrological simulation. Performance evaluation of those methods was made with a newly introduced index, Global Performance Index (GPI) utilizing six commonly used goodness-of-fit parameters viz. coefficient of determination, mean absolute error, root mean square error, percentage of volume bias, Nash Sutcliff Efficiency and Kling-Gupta Efficiency. This study showed that hydrological modeling is the best among the considered methods of flow estimation for ungauged catchments. 展开更多

Diffuse solar radiation models play an extremely important role in solar photothermal utilization, resource assess-ment and energy consumption simulation, etc. The accuracy of these diffuse solar radiation models usually need to be evaluated by various statistical parameters.Among these statistical parameters, the Global Performance In-dex(GPI)has been extensively employed in recent years because of its comprehensiveness and wide applicability. This paper takes five cities in China as representatives of 5 typical climate regions, and 12 solar scattered radia-tion models are fitted with the meteorological data of 5 cities.Based on the comparative analysis of the existing GPI calculation methods, this paper points out that there are some defects in the existing GPI,and modifies the existing GPI based on the comprehensive consideration of statistical parameters, normalization preprocessing of statistical parameters, unified evaluation direction of parameters, weight redistribution of statistical parameters, and adjustment of extreme coefficient.12 types of new GPI are established in this paper, and the performance of diffuse solar radiation models are compared based on these GPI.The rationality of GPI corrective measures is analyzed by means of the method reasonable index(MRI).The results show that the GPI calculation method(N10)which takes five corrective measures has the best performance, and the accuracy of the existing GPI can be improved by 13.33 to 65%. 展开更多
