A brief concept study of a modular research aircraft with potential applications to Mars exploration is conducted.Considered are dimensional and mass constraints of a launch vehicle payload compartment,mission radius ...A brief concept study of a modular research aircraft with potential applications to Mars exploration is conducted.Considered are dimensional and mass constraints of a launch vehicle payload compartment,mission radius extension applying ground mobility and overall flight envelope extension using fixed-wing aerodynamics.Also,some lessons learned from NASA Mars Ingenuity flights are considered and addressed with few solutions.The modular system includes a fixed-wing design along with a number of smaller autonomous quadcopter UAVs,encapsulated inside a geodesic spherical support through a gimbal mechanism for ground mobility.Analyzed is the feasibility of allocating to these mini drones both scout and mapping tasks of complex terrain such as crater walls,canyons and cave systems that might hold key insights into the planet's geologic history.Once docked with the mothership fixed wing,the mini drones serve as a distributed propulsion system,for vertical take-off and landing and control,completely replacing control surfaces on the flying wing itself,its engine and landing gear.CFD and structural simulations have demonstrated the flight-ability in Mars conditions of a flying wing design along with scout drone prototypes with a pentagon-hexagon geodesic shell.Also demonstrated is the great flexibility of the suggested modular approach for various research applications and mission profiles on Mars and other planets or moons,improving overall reliability and mission radius.展开更多

We use this function to provide an accurate characterization of the height of the geodesic defining function for the AH manifold with a given boundary metric. Furthermore, it is shown that such functions are uniformly bounded from below at infinity and the bound only depends on the dimension. Human Activity Recognition(HAR)in drone-captured videos has become popular because of the interest in various fields such as video surveillance,sports analysis,and human-robot interaction.However,recognizing actions f...Human Activity Recognition(HAR)in drone-captured videos has become popular because of the interest in various fields such as video surveillance,sports analysis,and human-robot interaction.However,recognizing actions from such videos poses the following challenges:variations of human motion,the complexity of backdrops,motion blurs,occlusions,and restricted camera angles.This research presents a human activity recognition system to address these challenges by working with drones’red-green-blue(RGB)videos.The first step in the proposed system involves partitioning videos into frames and then using bilateral filtering to improve the quality of object foregrounds while reducing background interference before converting from RGB to grayscale images.The YOLO(You Only Look Once)algorithm detects and extracts humans from each frame,obtaining their skeletons for further processing.The joint angles,displacement and velocity,histogram of oriented gradients(HOG),3D points,and geodesic Distance are included.These features are optimized using Quadratic Discriminant Analysis(QDA)and utilized in a Neuro-Fuzzy Classifier(NFC)for activity classification.Real-world evaluations on the Drone-Action,Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)-Gesture,and Okutama-Action datasets substantiate the proposed system’s superiority in accuracy rates over existing methods.In particular,the system obtains recognition rates of 93%for drone action,97%for UAV gestures,and 81%for Okutama-action,demonstrating the system’s reliability and ability to learn human activity from drone videos.展开更多
The photon region surrounding a black hole is crucial for distant observers to receive the emitted spectrum from its vicinity.This paper investigates the optical features of a regular spinning antide Sitter(AdS)black ...The photon region surrounding a black hole is crucial for distant observers to receive the emitted spectrum from its vicinity.This paper investigates the optical features of a regular spinning antide Sitter(AdS)black hole.These kinds of black holes hold deviation parameter k,and the cosmological constant A including their mass M and spin a.The cosmological parameter depends on the curvature radius by A=-3/l~2.We investigate the structure of geodesics for unstable circular orbits of photons as observed by an observer at specific Boyer-Lindquist coordinates(r_(O),v_(O))in the region between the outer and cosmological horizon,so-called the domain of outer communication.Our investigations include the analysis of three observables from its shadow plot:the black hole shadow radius(R_(s)),the distortion of the black hole(δ_(s)),and shadow area A.With the help of these observables,we calculate the angular diameter of the apparent size of the shadow.The shadows cast by spinning regular spacetimes are smaller compared to those produced by rotating black holes in both general relativity and regular spacetimes.We also calculate the rate at which energy is emitted from the black hole.展开更多

Current CAD schemes already have a relatively high sensitivity and a low false positive rate. However, misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis are still common to happen, mainly due to the existence of haustral folds(HFs). An innovative idea of segmenting semilunar HFs from the smooth colonic wall and then using different methods to detect polyps on HFs and those on the smooth colonic wall is proposed in this paper to reduce the false positives and false negatives caused by HFs. For the polyps on HFs, a novel segmentation method is specially developed based on complementary geodesic distance transformation(CGDT). The proposed method is tested on four different models and real CT data. The property of CGDT is proved and our method turns out to be effective for HF segmentation and polyp segmentation. The encouraging experimental results primarily show the feasibility of the proposed method and its potential to improve the detection performance of CAD schemes.展开更多

The C grid discretization was used for the spatial discretization. To implement TSPAS on an unstructured grid, the original finite-difference scheme was further generalized. The two-step integration utilizes a combination of two separate schemes (a low-order monotone scheme and a high-order scheme that typically cannot ensure monotonicity) to calculate the fluxes at the cell walls (one scheme corresponds to one cell wall). The choice between these two schemes for each edge depends on a pre-updated scalar value using slightly increased fluxes. After the determination of an appropriate scheme, the final integration at a target cell is achieved by summing the fluxes that are computed by the different schemes. The conservative and shape-preserving properties of the generalized scheme are demonstrated. Numerical experiments are conducted at several horizontal resolutions. TSPAS is compared with the Flux Corrected Transport (FCT) approach to demonstrate the differences between the two methods, and several transport tests are performed to examine the accuracy, efficiency and robustness of the two schemes.展开更多

Convolutional neural networks(CNNs)are prone to mis-segmenting image data of the liver when the background is complicated,which results in low segmentation accuracy and unsuitable results for clinical use.To address t...Convolutional neural networks(CNNs)are prone to mis-segmenting image data of the liver when the background is complicated,which results in low segmentation accuracy and unsuitable results for clinical use.To address this shortcoming,an interactive liver segmentation algorithm based on geodesic distance and V-net is proposed.The three-dimensional segmentation network V-net adequately considers the characteristics of the spatial context information to segment liver medical images and obtain preliminary segmentation results.An artificial algorithm based on geodesic distance is used to form artificial hard constraints to modify the image,and the superpixel piece created by the watershed algorithm is introduced as a sample point for operation,which significantly improves the efficiency of segmentation.Results from simulation of the liver tumor segmentation challenge(LiTS)dataset show that this algorithm can effectively refine the results of automatic liver segmentation,reduce user intervention,and enable a fast,interactive liver image segmentation that is convenient for doctors.展开更多

By analy...Recently Malihe Heydari-Fard obtained a spherically symmetric exterior black hole solution in the brane-world scenario, which can be used to explain the galaxy rotation curves without postulating dark matter. By analysing the particle effective potential, we have investigated the time-like geodesic structure of the spherically symmetric black hole in the brane-world. We mainly take account of how the cosmological constant α and the stellar pressure β affect the time-like geodesic structure of the black hole. We find that the radial particle falls to the singularity from a finite distance or plunges into the singularity, depending on its initial conditions. But the non-radial time-like geodesic structure is more complex than the radial case. We find that the particle moves on the bound orbit or stable (unstable) circle orbit or plunges into the singularity, or reflects to infinity, depending on its energy and initial conditions. By comparing the particle effective potential curves for different values of the stellar pressureβ and the cosmological constant α, we find that the stellar pressure parameter β does not affect the time-like geodesic structure of the black hole, but the cosmological constant a has an impact on its time-like geodesic structure.展开更多

In this study,an environmental simulation platform(ETS-02)was constructed for high-precision geodesic instruments(e.g.,absolute/relative gravimeters and inclinometers),to test the disturbances caused by environmental ...In this study,an environmental simulation platform(ETS-02)was constructed for high-precision geodesic instruments(e.g.,absolute/relative gravimeters and inclinometers),to test the disturbances caused by environmental fl uctuations.The outer layer of the platform was constructed with two sets of rectangular electromagnetic coils,which generated the required magnetic fi eld when current was applied.The inner layer was a closed cabin in which radiators were distributed such that the temperature of the experimental space inside the cabin could be controlled,by energy exchange between the radiators and a thermal controller through the fl owing liquid.A high-precision hexapod was used to simulate the tilt-related eff ect.The platform was capable of adjusting temperatures within a dynamic range of 0℃-70℃ at a resolution of 0.01℃.The noise of the power-spectrum density when the cabin was set to room temperature was measured as 0.03℃/Hz^(1/2) at 1 mHz.The magnetic field simulation had a dynamic range of±300μT and stability of 20 nT.The resolution of the ground-tilt simulation was 1 arc s.The inner space of the platform had a volume of approximately 5 m^(3),which is sufficient for most types of instruments to be tested for a general environmental coupling effect.To illustrate the application of the platform,a dual-axis inclinometer was built and tested carefully with the platform,and the accuracy of the calibration factors was found to be signifi cantly improved.展开更多

文摘Convolutional neural networks(CNNs)are prone to mis-segmenting image data of the liver when the background is complicated,which results in low segmentation accuracy and unsuitable results for clinical use.To address this shortcoming,an interactive liver segmentation algorithm based on geodesic distance and V-net is proposed.The three-dimensional segmentation network V-net adequately considers the characteristics of the spatial context information to segment liver medical images and obtain preliminary segmentation results.An artificial algorithm based on geodesic distance is used to form artificial hard constraints to modify the image,and the superpixel piece created by the watershed algorithm is introduced as a sample point for operation,which significantly improves the efficiency of segmentation.Results from simulation of the liver tumor segmentation challenge(LiTS)dataset show that this algorithm can effectively refine the results of automatic liver segmentation,reduce user intervention,and enable a fast,interactive liver image segmentation that is convenient for doctors.

文摘We present a new algorithm to compute a geodesic path over a triangle mesh. Based on Novotni's propagating wavefront method which is similar to the well known Dijkstra algorithm, we made some improvements which Novotni had missed and we also gave the method to find out the geodesic path which Novotni had not. It can handle both convex and non-convex surfaces or even with boundaries. Experiment results show that our method works very well both in efficiency and precision.

文摘Some properties related to the NUT-Taub-like spacetime, such as the surface of infinite red-shift, horizon, singularity and the area of the NUT-Taub-like black hole are discussed. Furthermore, the geodesics in the NUT-Taub-like spacetime are obtained in some special cases. Specifically, the circular orbits for a massive particle are derived, which can reduce to the cases of the Schwarzschild spacetime and the NUT-Taub spacetime when m^* = 0 and m^* 〈〈 M, respectively.

文摘Recently Malihe Heydari-Fard obtained a spherically symmetric exterior black hole solution in the brane-world scenario, which can be used to explain the galaxy rotation curves without postulating dark matter. By analysing the particle effective potential, we have investigated the time-like geodesic structure of the spherically symmetric black hole in the brane-world. We mainly take account of how the cosmological constant α and the stellar pressure β affect the time-like geodesic structure of the black hole. We find that the radial particle falls to the singularity from a finite distance or plunges into the singularity, depending on its initial conditions. But the non-radial time-like geodesic structure is more complex than the radial case. We find that the particle moves on the bound orbit or stable (unstable) circle orbit or plunges into the singularity, or reflects to infinity, depending on its energy and initial conditions. By comparing the particle effective potential curves for different values of the stellar pressureβ and the cosmological constant α, we find that the stellar pressure parameter β does not affect the time-like geodesic structure of the black hole, but the cosmological constant a has an impact on its time-like geodesic structure.

文摘The geodesic characteristic of equations of motion for nonautonomous constrained mechanical systems is studied in the modern setting of global differential geometry. A necessary and sufficient condition for the dynamical flow of a nonautonomous mechanical system with geodesic characteristic was obtained with respect to a connection of 1-jet bundle. The dynamical flow concerning the non-autonomous case motion of an nonautonomous mechanical system with constraints can be always represented by the motion along the geodesic line of torsion-free connection on 1-jet bundle, which is different from the case in an autonomous mechanical system.

文摘In this study,an environmental simulation platform(ETS-02)was constructed for high-precision geodesic instruments(e.g.,absolute/relative gravimeters and inclinometers),to test the disturbances caused by environmental fl uctuations.The outer layer of the platform was constructed with two sets of rectangular electromagnetic coils,which generated the required magnetic fi eld when current was applied.The inner layer was a closed cabin in which radiators were distributed such that the temperature of the experimental space inside the cabin could be controlled,by energy exchange between the radiators and a thermal controller through the fl owing liquid.A high-precision hexapod was used to simulate the tilt-related eff ect.The platform was capable of adjusting temperatures within a dynamic range of 0℃-70℃ at a resolution of 0.01℃.The noise of the power-spectrum density when the cabin was set to room temperature was measured as 0.03℃/Hz^(1/2) at 1 mHz.The magnetic field simulation had a dynamic range of±300μT and stability of 20 nT.The resolution of the ground-tilt simulation was 1 arc s.The inner space of the platform had a volume of approximately 5 m^(3),which is sufficient for most types of instruments to be tested for a general environmental coupling effect.To illustrate the application of the platform,a dual-axis inclinometer was built and tested carefully with the platform,and the accuracy of the calibration factors was found to be signifi cantly improved.
