We discover that the c... This paper aims to formalize a general definition of intelligence beyond human intelligence. We accomplish this by re-imagining the concept of equality as a fundamental abstraction for relation. We discover that the concept of equality = limits the sensitivity of our mathematics to abstract relationships. We propose a new relation principle that does not rely on the concept of equality but is consistent with existing mathematical abstractions. In essence, this paper proposes a conceptual framework for general interaction and argues that this framework is also an abstraction that satisfies the definition of Intelligence. Hence, we define intelligence as a formalization of generality, represented by the abstraction ∆∞Ο, where each symbol represents the concepts infinitesimal, infinite, and finite respectively. In essence, this paper proposes a General Language Model (GLM), where the abstraction ∆∞Ο represents the foundational relationship of the model. This relation is colloquially termed “The theory of everything”. 展开更多

As second language learning becomes popular,various strategies to improve the learning process have been suggested.One of them includes the implantation of audiovisual materials(video authentic materials),which then leads to a discussion of subtitle usage and the value of subtitles in second language learning.This essay focuses on searching for literature that suggests the value of subtitles,especially teletext subtitles,in improving second language learning.This was achieved by reviewing relevant research and experiments.The results suggested that even though uncertainty remained on what kind of materials fit what level of learners,in general,subtitles,especially teletext subtitles,were seen as a beneficial tool in developing learners' listening abilities and skills. 展开更多

The study investigates: (1) how different idiom types, classified on the basis of a cross-linguistic comparison of Chinese and English idioms in terms of conceptual basis, affect English idiom comprehension as revealed from both the general performance and the on-line processing strategies adopted by Chinese EFL learners at different proficiency levels, and (2) to what extent can the observed learner behavior be accounted for within the theoretical framework of idiom comprehension.
