The galvanic corrosion behavior of carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRPs) GM-CFRP and Tepex-CFRP in contact with a Zn-coated DP590 steel in solution containing 0.9 wt% NaCl+ 0.1 wt% CaCl2 + 0.075 wt% NaHCO3 was investigated. The results showed that the GM-CFRP/steel couple was initially more resistant to galvanic corrosion, but its galvanic corrosion activity gradually became higher than the Tepex-CFRP/steel couple. The different galvanic behaviors of these two couples were discussed based on the electrochemical performance of GM-CFRP, Tepex-CFRP and DP590 coupons in the testing solution. 展开更多

Based on the electric-spark principle, a new kind of cavitation damagetesting apparatus was designed, which could produce the bubble. Bubbles collapsed and acted on asmall surface area of the alloy surface, so an intensive electrochemical inhomogenous state would beinduced and lead to the existence of surface galvanic effect on the alloy. The galvanic effect of1Cr13 SS during cavitation damage has been quantitatively investigated in NaCl solution. The resultsshow that intensive galvanic effect of 1Cr13 SS during cavitation damage appears the potential ofthe damaged area shifting negatively with the bubble collapse and simultaneously the galvaniccurrent generates. The mass loss of alloy due to cavitation increases with the bubble quantity, andincreases with the increasing of Cl- content. And both the total mass loss and the mass loss due togalvanic corrosion increase linearly with the area ratio of cavitation damaged to undamaged area.Such surface galvanic effects speed up the dissolution rate of the alloy, which, in turn, accelerates the mechanical damage, and aggravates the mass loss of the alloy. It has been furtherconfirmed that the mass loss due to the surface galvanic effect can be decreased by catholicprotection. 展开更多

The influence of the surface galvanic effects of 1Cr13 SS during cavitation damage has been investigated in NaCl solutions. The results show that the solution concentration and area ratio of bubble unacted surface to the bubble-acted surface greatly influence the cavitation damage of the alloy. The surface galvanic effects can speed up the dissolution rate of the alloy, and the mass loss per area of the alloy increases linearly with the area ratio of bubble unacted surface to the bubble acted surface of the alloy. 展开更多

The free corrosion potentials, galvanic potentials and currents of these galvanic couples were measured. The galvanic effects were determined by the mass loss and regression method using three points. The results show that: (1) In these four kinds of couples AZ91D acts as the anode, whose galvanic corrosion behavior is mainly controlled by the cathodic polarization; (2) The free corrosion potentials of these four kinds of couples change a little with time and cathodic/anodic area ratio (CAAR); (3) The galvanic potential of AZ91D/LY12 moves positively with the increase of time and CAAR; (4) The galvanic currents increase with CAAR, but there is difference in the current change between different couples; (5) The anodic dissolution rate of the magnesium alloy increases by 2-3 orders after being coupled with these four kinds of metals and the galvanic effects of these couples have such a relation as γH62> γ316L.S.S>γLY12>γA3. 展开更多

In this work, through the self-developed setup for in situ electrochemical tests, the corrosion behavior of 13 Cr stainless steel under the combined effect of stress and crevice in high pressure CO_(2)/O_(2)environment was investigated. The results show that 13 Cr stainless steel presents a self-passivation state.Under the action of stress, the anodic dissolution process of steel inside crevice is expedited. There is a galvanic effect between the stressed steel inside crevice and the unstressed steel outside crevice. The applied stress reduces the induction stage of crevice corrosion and induces a larger galvanic current,i.e.,the applied stress promotes the development of crevice corrosion.Meanwhile, adding 0.1 MPa O_(2)is conducive to forming a more stable passive film but causes a greater galvanic effect. 展开更多

The electrochemical behaviour, including free corrosion potential, free corrosion current density and polarization curve, of various thermal history zones on the weldment was measured in this paper. The weldment consisted of matrix, tempering zone. incomplete normalized zone, normalized zone, overtemperature zone, fusion line zone and weld metal zone. The electrochemical behaviour of the ferrite, pearlite and mixed structure in various zones have successfully measured. The results showed that there was a difference of free corrosion potential which is smaller than ca. 200mV between various zones and about 20-150mV potential difference between ferrite and pearlite in every zone. The free cormsion potential of fusion line zone was the most negative between various zones. The free corrosion potential of pearlite was some dozens mV more negative than ferrite. The corrosion course of various zones and of different phase structures on the weldment and their effect on corrosion attack of weldment were discussed. 展开更多

High-entropy alloys(HEAs)have attracted widespread attention due to their excellent mechanical properties. However, their functional properties arising from the supersaturated solid solution state can be improved.Advanced oxidation processes(AOPs)are considered to be an effective method for decomposing organic pollutants, and HEAs are proposed as effective candidates for AOP catalysts.Currently, several HEAs used for organic pollutant degradation are prepared through mechanical alloying. In this work,FeAlCoNi and FeAlCoNiB Fenton-like catalysts were prepared by single roll melt spinning and subsequent ball milling techniques. We found that the FeAlCoNiB HEA exhibits highly efficient degradation for p-nitrophenol(p-NP).The degradation efficiency of FeAlCoNiB is 120 times higher than that of FeAlCoNi,which confirms that boron functions effectively during the degradation process.FeAlCoNiB has a better degradation efficiency than pure iron powder and a degradation efficiency comparable to that of the amorphous Fe_(78)Si_(11)B_(11) alloy.Additionally, the degradation efficiency of FeAlCoNiB_(X) increases(k values from 0.13 to 0.55 min^(−1))when the boron content increases from an X value of 0.25 to 1.25.We speculate that Fe_(2)B favors the degradation process and promotes zero-valent iron to decompose organic pollutants through a galvanic cell effect.Possible p-NP degradation pathways are proposed after LC–MS analysis. This study provides a new series of HEA Fenton-like catalysts, which have the potential to be prepared into bulk devices for industrial applications. 展开更多
