Research on Fuzzy-Proportional-Integral-Derivative Control Strategy Improved by Artificial Bee Colony algorithm for Thermal Management of Hybrid Fuel Cell

The proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC)and the hydrogen hybrid power system are studied by the fuzzy-PID(FPID)controlmethod and the fuzzy-PID controlmethod by Artificial Bee Colony algorithm(ABCFPID),respectively.The results reveal that compared with the FPID control method,the temperature overshoot of the PEMFC stack under the ABC-FPID control method is decreased by 0.6%.Moreover,the circulating water flow rate within the full operating envelope(about 3 min)is reduced by 19.46 L,which means the ABC-FPID control method is more effective in regulating the stack temperature.Then,the ABC-FPID control method is proposed to study the hydrogen hybrid power system,and the system output power matching,operating characteristic curve of the fuel cell,state of charge(SOC)of the lithium battery,system efficiency and hydrogen demand are obtained.The results indicate that the maximum system efficiency reaches 46.3%,the average system efficiency is 33.8%,and the average hydrogen demand is 0.192 kg/s.Overall,the ABC-FPID control method can efficiently ensure the stability of the fuel cell’s output power,and actively prompt the lithium battery to fulfill the function of“peak shaving and valley filling”under variable load power conditions. 展开更多

The liquid cooling system(LCS)of fuel cells is challenged by significant time delays,model uncertainties,pump and fan coupling,and frequent disturbances,leading to overshoot and control oscillations that degrade temperature regulation performance.To address these challenges,we propose a composite control scheme combining fuzzy logic and a variable-gain generalized supertwisting algorithm(VG-GSTA).Firstly,a one-dimensional(1D)fuzzy logic controler(FLC)for the pump ensures stable coolant flow,while a two-dimensional(2D)FLC for the fan regulates the stack temperature near the reference value.The VG-GSTA is then introduced to eliminate steady-state errors,offering resistance to disturbances and minimizing control oscillations.The equilibrium optimizer is used to fine-tune VG-GSTA parameters.Co-simulation verifies the effectiveness of our method,demonstrating its advantages in terms of disturbance immunity,overshoot suppression,tracking accuracy and response speed. 展开更多

When the proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC)system is running,there will be a condition that does not require power output for a short time.In order to achieve zero power output under low power consumption,it is necessary to consider the diversity of control targets and the complexity of dynamic models,which brings the challenge of high-precision tracking control of the stack output power and cathode intake flow.For system idle speed control,a modelbased nonlinear control framework is constructed in this paper.Firstly,the nonlinear dynamic model of output power and cathode intake flow is derived.Secondly,a control scheme combining nonlinear extended Kalman filter observer and state feedback controller is designed.Finally,the control scheme is verified on the PEMFC experimental platform and compared with the proportion-integration-differentiation(PID)controller.The experimental results show that the control strategy proposed in this paper can realize the idle speed control of the fuel cell system and achieve the purpose of zero power output.Compared with PID controller,it has faster response speed and better system dynamics. 展开更多

This paper proposes a separated trajectory tracking controller for fishing ships at sea state level 6 to solve the trajectory tracking problem of a fishing ship in a 6-level sea state,and to adapt to different working environments and safety requirements.The nonlinear feedback method is used to improve the closed-loop gain shaping algorithm.By introducing the sine function,the problem of excessive control energy of the system can be effectively solved.Moreover,an integral separation design is used to solve the influence of the integral term in conventional PID controllers on the transient performance of the system.In this paper,a common 32.98 m large fiberglass reinforced plastic(FRP)trawler is adopted for simulation research at the winds scale of Beaufort No.7.The results show that the track error is smaller than 3.5 m.The method is safe,feasible,concise and effective and has popularization value in the direction of fishing ship trajectory tracking control.This method can be used to improve the level of informatization and intelligence of fishing ships. 展开更多

Rotary steering systems(RSSs)have been increasingly used to develop horizontal wells.A static push-the-bit RSS uses three hydraulic modules with varying degrees of expansion and contraction to achieve changes in the pushing force acting on the wellbore in different sizes and directions within a circular range,ultimately allowing the wellbore trajectory to be drilled in a predetermined direction.By analyzing its mathematical principles and the actual characteristics of the instrument,a vector force closed-loop control method,including steering and holding modes,was designed.The adjustment criteria for the three hydraulic modules are determined to achieve rapid adjustment of the vector force.The theoretical feasibility of the developed method was verified by comparing its results with the on-site application data of an imported rotary guidance system. 展开更多

Conventional open-loop deep brain stimulation(DBS)systems with fixed parameters fail to accommodate interindividual pathological differences in Parkinson's disease(PD)management while potentially inducing adverse effects and causing excessive energy consumption.In this paper,we present an adaptive closed-loop framework integrating a Yogi-optimized proportional–integral–derivative neural network(Yogi-PIDNN)controller.The Yogi-augmented gradient adaptation mechanism accelerates the convergence of general PIDNN controllers in high-dimensional nonlinear control systems while reducing control energy usage.In addition,a system identification method establishes input–output dynamics for pre-training stimulation waveforms,bypassing real-time parameter-tuning constraints and thereby enhancing closed-loop adaptability.Finally,a theoretical analysis based on Lyapunov stability criteria establishes a sufficient condition for closed-loop stability within the identified model.Computational validations demonstrate that our approach restores thalamic relay reliability while reducing energy consumption by(81.0±0.7)%across multi-frequency tests.This study advances adaptive neuromodulation by synergizing data-driven pre-training with stability-guaranteed real-time control,offering a novel framework for energy-efficient and personalized Parkinson's therapy. 展开更多

In order to study the factors that influence the air fuel ratio(A/F), the amplitude and frequency of A/F fluctuation, to reform the control strategy, and to improve the efficiency of three way catalyst(TWC), a model of closed loop control system including the engine, air fuel mixing and transportation, oxygen sensor and controller, etc., is developed. Various factors that influence the A/F control are studied by simulation. The simulation results show that the reference voltage of oxygen sensor will influence the mean value of A/F ratio, the controller parameters will influence the amplitude of A/F fluctuation, and the operating conditions of the engine determine the frequency of A/F fluctuations, the amplitude of A/F fluctuation can be reduced to within demanded values by logical selection of the signal acquisition method and controller parameters. Higher A/F fluctuation frequency under high speed and load can be reduced through software delay in the controller. The A/F closed loop control system based on the simulation results, accompanied with a rare earth element TWC, gives a better efficiency of conversion against harmful emissions. 展开更多

Accurate fuel injection control of aircraft engine can optimize the energy efficiency of UAV power system while meeting the propeller speed requirement. Traditional injection control method such as open-loop calibration causes instability of fuel supply which brings the risk of power loss of UAV. Considering that the closed-loop control of AFR can ensure a stable fuel feeding, this paper proposes an AFR control based fuel supply strategy in order to improve the efficiency of fuel-powered UAV while obtaining the required engine speed. According to the optimum fuel injection results, we implement fuzzy-PID method to control the set AFR in different situations. Through simulation and experiment studies, the results indicate that, to begin with, the calibrated mathematical model of the aircraft engine is effective. Next, this fuel supply strategy based on AFR control can normally realize the engine speed regulation, and the applied control algorithm can eliminate the overshoot of AFR throughout all the working progress. What is more,the fuel supply strategy can averagely shorten the response time of the engine speed by about two seconds. In addition, compared with the open-loop calibration, in this work the power efficiency is improved by 9% to 33%. Last but not the least, the endurance can be improved by 30 min with a normal engine speed. This paper can be a reference for the optimization of UAV aircraft engine. 展开更多

A dynamics-based adaptive control approach is proposed for a planar dual-arm space robot in the presence of closed-loop constraints and uncertain inertial parameters of the payload. The controller is capable of controlling the po- sition and attitude of both the satellite base and the payload grasped by the manipulator end effectors. The equations of motion in reduced-order form for the constrained system are derived by incorporating the constraint equations in terms of accelerations into Kane's equations of the unconstrained system. Model analysis shows that the resulting equations perfectly meet the requirement of adaptive controller design. Consequently, by using an indirect approach, an adaptive control scheme is proposed to accomplish position/attitude trajectory tracking control with the uncertain parameters be- ing estimated on-line. The actuator redundancy due to the closed-loop constraints is utilized to minimize a weighted norm of the joint torques. Global asymptotic stability is proven by using Lyapunov's method, and simulation results are also presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. 展开更多

However, the stack output tracking control is still a challenging problem due to the soft characteristic of the stack. Both over- and less-control will cause the stack flooding or oxygen lacking which dramatically decreases the life of stacks. Traditional control methods rely on the accurate model of the fuel cell system, which is a high-order nonlinear system, and involve a complex controller design process. This paper combines the data-based fuzzy cluster modeling technology with the sliding mode control and the integral actions. The sliding mode controller tracks the dynamic changes of the fuel cell system and the integral controller eliminates the steady-state errors. A closed-loop control allocation method is proposed for a class of aircraft with multiple actuators. Nonlinear dynamic inversion is used to design the baseline attitude controller and derive the desired moment increment. And a feedback loop for the moment increment produced by the deflections of actuators is added to the angular rate loop, then the error between the desired and actual moment increment is the input of the dynamic control allocation. Subsequently, the stability of the closed-loop dynamic control allocation system is analyzed in detail. Especially, the closedloop system stability is also analyzed in the presence of two types of actuator failures: loss of effectiveness and lock-in-place actuator failures, where a fault detection subsystem to identify the actuator failures is absent. Finally, the proposed method is applied to a canard rotor/wing (CRW) aircraft model in fixed-wing mode, which has multiple actuators for flight control. The nonlinear simulation demonstrates that this method can guarantee the stability and tracking performance whether the actuators are healthy or fail. 展开更多

The classical washout algorithm had fixed gains and manually constructed filters, so that it led to poor adaptability. Furthermore, it lost the sustained acceleration cues of high-and mid-frequency in cross-over(tilt-coordination) channel, and the acceleration of cross-over frequency was also limited by angular velocity limiter, so the false cues in flight simulation process were clearly perceived by pilots. The paper studied the characteristics of the classical washout algorithm and flight simulator motion platform, tried to redesign the source of cross-over acceleration channel and translation acceleration channel, and transferred the part of cross-over acceleration that was unsimulated sustained acceleration to translation acceleration channel. Comparisons were mainly made between classical washout algorithm and revised algorithm in a longitudinal/pitch direction. The evaluation was based on the implementation of human vestibular perception system. The results demonstrated that the revised algorithm could significantly reduce the phase lag, and improved the spikes tracking performance. Furthermore, sensory angular velocity and the error of sensory acceleration were strictly controlled within the threshold of human perception system, and the displacement was a little broader than the classical washout algorithm. Therefore, it was proved that the new algorithm could diminish the filters parameters and heighten the self-adaptability for the washout algorithm. In addition, the magnitude of false cues was remarkably reduced during flight simulator, and the workspace utilization of the motion platform was developed by "closed-loop" control system. 展开更多

Design of speed controller for electronic fuel injection gasoline generator based on feed-forward PID control

As for the application of electronic fuel injection (EFI) system to small gasoline generator set, mechanical speed controller cannot be coupled with EFI system and has the shortcomings of lagged regulation and poor accuracy, a feed-forward control strategy based on load combined with proportional-integral-differential (PID) control strategy was proposed, and a digital speed controller applied to the electrical control system was designed. The detailed control strategy of the controller was intro- duced. The hardware design for the controller and the key circuits of motor driving, current sampling and angular signal captu- ring were given, and software architecture was discussed. Combined with a gasoline generator set mounted with EFI system, the controller parameters were tuned and optimized empirically by hardware in loop and bench test methods. Test results show that the speed deviation of generator set is low and the control system is stable in steady state; In transient state the control system responses quickly, has high stability under mutation loads especially when suddenly apply and remove 100% load, the speed deviation is within 8% of reference speed and the transient time is less than 5 s, satisfying the ISO standard. 展开更多

This paper presents a control strategy of a hybrid fuel cell/battery distributed generation (HDG) system in distribution systems. The overall structure of the HDG system is given, dynamic models for the solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power plant, battery bank and its power electronic interfacing are briefly described, and controller design methodologies for the power conditioning units and fuel cell to control the power flow from the hybrid power plant to the utility grid are presented. To distribute the power between the fuel cell power plant and the battery energy storage, a neuro-fuzzy controller has been developed. Also, for controlling the active and reactive power independently in distribution systems, the current control strategy based on two fuzzy logic controllers has been presented. A Matlab/Simulink simulation model is developed for the HDG system by combining the individual component models and their controllers. Simulation results show the overall system performance including load-following and power management of the HDG system. 展开更多

To address the control accuracy of large fuel flowrate during pressure fluctuation,a novel electro-hydraulic fuel metering unit(FMU)is constructed for afterburner fuel system of military aeroengine.Different from the previous FMU,the proposed FMU can achieve the higher precision opening control by a new metering valve with double control chambers(MVDCC),and realize the lower pressure difference fluctuation regulating by a novel two-stage constant pressure difference compensated valve(CPDCV)with dynamic damping orifice and damping piston.The experimental and AMESim simulation results verify the validity and superiority of the novel FMU.Since the temperature-induced variation in fuel properties and device capabilities may degrade or even impair the properties of novel FMU,the discharge flowrate is analyzed by global sensitivity analysis to research the effect proportion of each factor,the temperature effect is explored to ensure the working reliability in long-span temperature variation.Finally,the optimization of structure parameters for novel CPDCV can further reduce pressure difference fluctuation during pressure regulation,and the overshoot,adjust time and the integral of time multiplied by absolute value of error(ITAE)can be reduced by 24%,30%and 26%,respectively.This paper provides a reference for improving the stability of large flowrate during pressure fluctuation. 展开更多

This paper successfully investigates the problem related to flow control with implementation on a single cell membrane electrode assembly (MEA). This paper presents a systematic approach for performing system identification using recursive least squares identification to account for the non-linear parameters of the fuel cell. This paper presents a study on bioinspired closed-loop Central Pattern Generator(CPG)based control of a robot fish for obstacle avoidance and direction tracking.The biomimetic robot fish is made of a rigid head with a pair of pectoral fins,a wire-driven active body covered with soft skin,and a compliant tail.The CPG model consists of four input parameters:the flapping amplitude,the flapping angular velocity,the flapping offset,and the time ratio between the beat phase and the restore phase in flapping.The robot fish is equipped with three infrared sensors mounted on the left,front and right of the robot fish,as well as an inertial measurement unit,from which the surrounding obstacles and moving direction can be sensed.Based on these sensor signals,the closed-loop CPG-based control can drive the robot fish to avoid obstacles and to track designated directions.Four sets of experiments are presented,including avoiding a static obstacle,avoiding a moving obstacle,tracking a designated direction and tracking a designated direction with an obstacle in the path.The experiment results indicated that the presented control strategy worked well and the robot fish can accomplish the obstacle avoidance and direction tracking effectively. 展开更多

A simulation model of an electronically controlled two solenoid valve fuel injection system for a diesel engine is established in the AMESim environment.The accuracy of the model is validated through comparison with experimental data.The influence of pre-injection control parameters on main-injection quantity under different control modes is analyzed.In the spill control valve mode,main-injection fuel quantity decreases gradually and then reaches a stable level because of the increase in multi-injection dwell time.In the needle control valve mode,main-injection fuel quantity increases with rising multi-injection dwell time;this effect becomes more obvious at high-speed revolutions and large main-injection pulse widths.Pre-injection pulse width has no obvious influence on main-injection quantity under the two control modes;the variation in main-injection quantity is in the range of 1 mm3. 展开更多

Thermodynamic characteristics are of great importance for the performance of a high-temperature flow-rate control valve,as high-temperature environment may bring problems,such as blocking of spool and increasing of leakage,to the valve.In this paper,a high-temperature flow-rate control valve,pilot-controlled by a pneumatic servo system is developed to control the fuel supply for scramjet engines.After introducing the construction and working principle,the thermodynamic mathematical models of the valve are built based on the heat transfer methods inside the valve.By using different boundary conditions,different methods of simulations are carried out and compared.The steady-state and transient temperature field distribution inside the valve body are predicted and temperatures at five interested points are measured.By comparing the simulation and experimental results,a reasonable 3D finite element analysis method is suggested to predict the thermodynamic characteristics of the high-temperature flow-rate control valve. 展开更多
