Investigation of system parameters towards safer impact based shock-to-detonation transition in a novel laser driven flyer plate prototype

Laser driven flyer plate technology offers improved safety and reliability for detonation of explosives in industrial applications ranging from mining and stone quarrying to the aerospace and defense industries.This study is based on developing a safer laser driven flyer plate prototype comprised of a laser initiator and a flyer plate subsystem that can be used with secondary explosives.System parameters were optimized to initiate the shock-to-detonation transition(SDT)of a secondary explosive based on the impact created by the flyer plate on the explosive surface.Rupture of the flyer was investigated at the mechanically weakened region located on the interface of these subsystems,where the product gases from the deflagration of the explosive provide the required energy.A bilayer energetic material was used,where the first layer consisted of a pyrotechnic component,zirconium potassium perchlorate(ZPP),for sustaining the ignition by the laser beam and the second layer consisted of an insensitive explosive,cyclotetramethylene-tetranitramine(HMX),for deflagration.A plexiglass interface was used to enfold the energetic material.The focal length of the laser beam from the diode was optimized to provide a homogeneous beam profile with maximum power at the surface of the ZPP.Closed bomb experiments were conducted in an internal volume of 10 cm^(3) for evaluation of performance.Dependency of the laser driven flyer plate system output on confinement,explosive density,and laser beam power were analyzed.Measurements using a high-speed camera resulted in a flyer velocity of 670±20 m/s that renders the prototype suitable as a laser detonator in applications,where controlled employment of explosives is critical. 展开更多

A theoretical model for calculating electric-power curves of small-size foil during its electrical explosion is given.This technique is based on temperature dependence of foil conductivity.After taking into account the energy conversion of the foil explosion,the power-time curve is applied to the hydrodynamic code.One-dimensional numerical simulations of electric-explosion driving flyers are performed using this code.Calculated flyer velocities lie within ±8% of experimental data from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL),and simulated history curves of flyer velocities coincide well with those measured using velocity interferometer system for any reflector (VISAR),indicating a helpful work for design optimization of slapper detonators. 展开更多

Strong competition in retail distribution and the development of new purchasing options for the consumer generate a growing need to strengthen the retailers' brand image using all the communication elements, with promotional flyers being one of the most important ways to do this. Promotional flyers make-up 5.1% of the money spent on communication and rank third place in terms of importance for retailers. The aim of this investigation work is to focus on analysing the utility of a promotional tool, such as a flyer, to fulfil a strategic objective, like creating a retail brand image, within a modern dynamic sector that is growing fast, such as Category Killers. Two sources of information have been used to carry out the research. On the One hand, a survey conducted on those responsible for the definition and execution of the promotional plan, and on the other hand, the accumulation and analysis of all the flyers issued into the market thought-out a year by those retailers which belong to this format, in order to conduct a study of seven defined image indicators. This information has been largely analyzed using multidimensional scaling method and chi-square test. As a result, we have managed to gather the differential elements in flyers execution between those retailers that prize the communications of image attributes and those retailers which concentrate on communicating price. The first group makes greater use of promotional theme related flyers, and shows greater differentiation in both product assortment and the depth of the range being communicated. 展开更多

一般来说,同一大小的力推动不同质量的物体,质量轻的物体获得的速度总是更大。然而,在磁驱动对称飞片发射实验中,同一电流驱动0.37 mm和0.48 mm两个“飞片对”,0.37 mm“飞片对”获得的最终速度为18 km/s,0.48 mm“飞片对”获得的最终... 一般来说,同一大小的力推动不同质量的物体,质量轻的物体获得的速度总是更大。然而,在磁驱动对称飞片发射实验中,同一电流驱动0.37 mm和0.48 mm两个“飞片对”,0.37 mm“飞片对”获得的最终速度为18 km/s,0.48 mm“飞片对”获得的最终速度为19 km/s,即厚“飞片对”获得的测量速度反而更大。采用边界磁场受烧蚀影响的磁流体力学程序解释这一反常现象。数值模拟表明,边界磁场受烧蚀影响的磁流体力学程序能正确模拟0.37 mm和0.48 mm两个“飞片对”的动力学过程。厚“飞片对”测得的最终速度比薄“飞片对”测得的最终速度更大,其物理机理是厚“飞片对”烧蚀熔化到整个“飞片对”密度低于固体密度的完全熔化时间,比薄“飞片对”烧蚀熔化到整个“飞片对”密度低于固体密度的完全熔化时间更长。 展开更多

电爆驱动高速飞片冲击下HNS小尺寸装药的起爆与爆轰特性

爆炸箔起爆技术具有高安全性和高可靠性,且便于微型化、集成化,契合精密微起爆系统需求。为深入认识爆炸箔起爆系统小尺寸装药引发与爆轰输出特性,搭建电爆炸驱动飞片特性同步观测系统,以及飞片冲击起爆小尺寸装药爆轰的炸药与窗口界面... 爆炸箔起爆技术具有高安全性和高可靠性,且便于微型化、集成化,契合精密微起爆系统需求。为深入认识爆炸箔起爆系统小尺寸装药引发与爆轰输出特性,搭建电爆炸驱动飞片特性同步观测系统,以及飞片冲击起爆小尺寸装药爆轰的炸药与窗口界面粒子速度测试系统,研究飞片速度、形态特性及其冲击作用下超细六硝基茋(Ultrafine Hexanitrostilbene,HNS-IV)小尺寸装药的起爆与爆轰反应行为。研究结果表明:起爆电压与飞片出膛速度呈正相关,起爆电压900~1500 V时,飞片出膛速度为2000~4200 m/s;高强度冲击下HNS-IV基炸药爆轰成长距离短,在3455 m/s飞片作用下,2.14 mm内可成长为稳定爆轰,爆轰波结构分析表明其反应速率快,爆轰反应时间小于27 ns,反应区宽度仅0.13 mm;3 mm直径小尺寸装药条件并未显著影响HNS-IV炸药的主要爆轰反应,但反应后期出现能量快速衰减现象。基于试验标定炸药爆轰反应速率方程,进一步仿真研究了装药尺寸对能量输出的影响,结果显示与增加装药直径相比,增大药柱厚度更能有效提升装药端面的能量输出。 展开更多

Some of the most interesting areas in aerospace science and technologies are on either higher,faster,and larger systems or lower,slower,and smaller flying capabilities.In this paper,we present our perspectives on the aerodynamics related to small,fixed-wing as well as flapping-wing flight vehicles.From an evolutionary viewpoint,flyers have gone through many iterations,adaptations,and optimizations to balance their biological functions,including flight.In the low-Reynolds-number regime,the aerodynamic characteristics around a solid object differ from those observed at the scale of passenger-airplanes.Consequently,the optimal airfoil and wing shapes vary with vehicle size.As vehicle dimensions vary,non-proportional scaling between surface areas and weight shifts the dominance of physical mechanisms,leading to distinct operational parameters and technical requirements.With smaller flight vehicles,structural flexibility as well as anisotropic material properties become more pronounced,which causes qualitative changes in aerodynamics.The flapping motion of the wings,the interactions between wings,the synergistic characteristics of wing and tail,and the development of soft structures for better agility and flight performance are discussed.Low-Reynolds-number aerodynamics require collaborative innovation to optimize shape,motion,and structure of vehicles in accordance with the scaling laws.Together,progress on these fronts is reshaping the design paradigm of air vehicles and other types of robots with shrinking physical dimensions and more versatile capabilities to meet wider ranges of missions. 展开更多

金属卤化物钙钛矿具有优异的光电性能和极具潜力的应用价值,成为目前研究热点之一,钙钛矿材料的元素组成及晶体结构对其性能有重要影响。为实现新型钙钛矿制备,开展冲击加载制备铯铅氯(CsPbCl_(3))钙钛矿研究。采用爆轰驱动飞片的冲击... 金属卤化物钙钛矿具有优异的光电性能和极具潜力的应用价值,成为目前研究热点之一,钙钛矿材料的元素组成及晶体结构对其性能有重要影响。为实现新型钙钛矿制备,开展冲击加载制备铯铅氯(CsPbCl_(3))钙钛矿研究。采用爆轰驱动飞片的冲击加载方式,在0.6~0.8的致密度、14.2~27.9 GPa的冲击压力条件下实现了CsPbCl_(3)钙钛矿粉末的冲击合成。X射线衍射仪、扫描电子显微镜、透射电子显微镜等多种分析表征结果表明回收产物为CsPbCl_(3)钙钛矿粉末。实验结果表明,冲击压力与前体粉末致密度是合成CsPbCl_(3)钙钛矿粉末的2个关键因素。结合实验条件与分析表征结果,对CsPbCl_(3)的合成进行了机理分析,发现当冲击压力在14~17 GPa范围内时,可以合成高纯度的CsPbCl_(3)粉体,没有非化学计量比产物形成,表明冲击合成法是一种制备难合成钙钛矿的可行方法。 展开更多

石灰岩飞片撞击实验与高压状态方程研究

石灰岩是地壳中分布最广的矿产之一,其高压状态方程在隧道爆破、矿产开采、武器毁伤效应与工程防护等数值计算方面具有广阔应用需求.为研究石灰岩高速冲击压缩特性,采用20 mm口径二级轻气炮设备,开展了3种石灰岩共21次飞片高速撞击实验... 石灰岩是地壳中分布最广的矿产之一,其高压状态方程在隧道爆破、矿产开采、武器毁伤效应与工程防护等数值计算方面具有广阔应用需求.为研究石灰岩高速冲击压缩特性,采用20 mm口径二级轻气炮设备,开展了3种石灰岩共21次飞片高速撞击实验.采用测速探针/高速相机、高灵敏度压力传感器设备,测量得到了飞片速度和冲击波历时,飞片最低速度为1.02 km/s、最高为3.91 km/s,结合飞片和石灰岩试件已知材料参数,计算得到了高速撞击产生的压力最低为5.64 GPa、最高达30.22 GPa.采用最小二乘法分析得到了石灰岩冲击波速D与粒子速度u的线性关系,其中A类石灰岩D=2.887+0.798u,B类石灰岩D=2.872+0.892u,C类石灰岩D=2.575+1.086u.采用双参数三次多项式对石灰岩冲击压力p与体积应变μ关系进行了非线性拟合,其中A类石灰岩p=145.28μ^(3)+24.44μ,B类石灰岩p=169.18μ^(3)+25.45μ,C类石灰岩p=206.57μ^(3)+21.10μ.结合石灰岩矿物组成分析可知,当密度和硬度越高的矿物含量越多时,飞片撞击速度增加导致的石灰岩冲击波速和冲击压力增长率更大.研究结果可为石灰岩本构模型状态方程参数标定等提供宝贵的数据支撑. 展开更多

The integration method of exploding foil initiator system(EFIs) used to be researched to broaden its application range in military and aerospace in the last few decades.In order to lower the firing voltage below 1 kV,an integrated EFIs with enhanced energy efficiency was designed.Corresponding exploding foil initiator chips were fabricated in batch via micro electromechanical systems technology by integrating a unified foil,a flyer layer and a barrel on a glass substrate successively,meanwhile its package of the whole system was proposed at a volume of 2.194 cm^(3).The structural parameters were determined by predicted performance including flyer velocity,impact behavior and conduction property via the proposed theoretical models and the static electric field simulation.As expect,this integrated EFIs exhibited excellent functions,which could accelerate the flyer to a terminal velocity over 4 km/s and preeminently initiate HNS-IV pellet at a circuit of 0.24 μF/0.9 kV.Furthermore,the theoretical design,fabrication and performance test have been all included to validate the feasibility of this integrated EFIs that was beneficial for its commercial development in the future. 展开更多

Reactive armour is a very efficient add-on armour against shaped charge threats.Explosive reactive armour consists of one or several plates that are accelerated by an explosive.Similar but less violent acceleration of plates can also be achieved in a completely inert reactive armour.To be efficient against elongated jets,the motion of the plates needs to be inclined against the jet such that a sliding contact between the jet and the plates is established.This sliding contact causes a deflection and thinning of the jet.Under certain circumstances,the contact will become unstable,leading to severe disturbances on the jet.These disturbances will drastically reduce the jet penetration performance and it is therefore of interest to study the conditions that leads to an unstable contact.Previous studies on the interaction between shaped charge jets and flyer plates have shown that it is mainly the forward moving plate in an explosive reactive armour that is effective in disturbing the jet.This is usually attributed to the higher plate-to-jet mass flux ratio involved in the collision of the forward moving plate compared to the backward moving plate.For slow moving plates,as occurs in inert reactive armour,the difference in mass flux for the forward and backward moving plate is much lesser,and it is therefore of interest to study if other factors than the mass flux influences on the protection capability.In this work,experiments have been performed where a plate is accelerated along its length,interacting with a shaped charge jet that is fired at an oblique angle to the plate’s normal,either against or along the plate’s velocity.The arrangement corresponds to a jet interacting with a flyer plate from a reactive armour,with the exception that the collision velocity is the same for both types of obliquities in these experiments.The experiments show that disturbances on the jet are different in the two cases even though the collision velocities are the same.Numerical simulations of the interaction support the observation.The difference is attributed to the character of the contact pressure in the interaction region.For a backward moving plate,the maximum contact pressure is obtained at the beginning of the interaction zone and the contact pressure is therefore higher upstream than downstream of the jet while the opposite is true for a forward moving plate.A negative interface pressure gradient with respect to the jet motion results in a more stable flow than a positive,which means that the jet-plate contact is more stable for a backward moving plate than for a forward moving plate.A forward moving plate is thus more effective in disturbing the jet than a backward moving plate,not only because of the higher jet to plate mass flux ratio but also because of the character of the contact with the jet. 展开更多
